Got mine from one digital.
No idea what the differences will be
Ive had an update already - not sure what it did
Not tried root and no idea about roms
Does not have ir
Sound quality is good
Overall after a few days
Amazingly fast
Has better battery life than my old one plus (used it all day with a heavy dose of ingress play still on 40%)
Love the way the switch app just works.
Still need to change a few defaults - it switches into chinese apps on odd occasions
A very good phone

Online most likely, in china it would be easier and have more ability to bargain prices but you must travel there so theres that too.
Usually bands, not sure though, confirmed is that it will include google play store and google apps and not the local chinese ones.
Usually Huawei is slow for updates.
Root isnt available yet.
Theres camera comparisons in lots of places, even threads here.
No IR Blaster.
If root is possible then yes that should be easy, not sure otherwise though.
Dont have it but I have heard quality is clear and loud. Speakers aren't really loud but more than enough from what I heard as well.
No worries.

Buying in Europe?

Anybody seen the MediaPad X2 in Europe for sale yet? Or people having experience with online sellers ( where you do not end up with a sky high import tax at delivery? ). Thanks...

I ordered a GEM-703L from a UK seller today. More expensive than the GEM-701L that's been advertised on Amazon for months but I just didn't want to wait any longer.
Also I have my doubts whether the GEM-701L will be available in the 3G/32GB gold version.
And lastly ROM development for the GEM-703L will be ahead of the GEM-701L.

How are you liking the X2? THe 703-L is the Chinese version, I believe (Honor X2)? Or is it configured for the European market (Google Play installed, default language is not Mandarin, etc.?)
So far so good although I am still waiting for the unlock code from Huawei.
My X2 came with Google Play pre-installed and English language.
I did a factory reset and then I could choose whatever language I required. Google Play disappeared but can easily be installed through the Huawei app store app.

Thanks for the feedback. Couple of questions for you:
Does the back of the device say "Huawei" or "Honor"? I've seen different versions and I'm not sure what the difference is.
Also, was the phone not unlocked when you received it? It won't work with your local SIM without getting a code from Huawei?
Would it be possible for you to take some screenshots of the web browser in portrait and landscape mode, for us to get an idea of how different the screen real estate is compared to normal-sized phones? A screenshot of something like GMail or MS Word would be great too, if possible.
The back of the phone says Honor.
The phone is SIM unlocked. I meant the code for unlocking the bootloader.
I don't use the stock browser but Chrome.
There is a setting called Application Display effect where you can force apps to shrink. You can set this globally or per app.
For example if you enable this for Flipboard it will open in tablet mode.

Honor is just the name used for the Mediapad X2 in China. So if you have a version with Honor on the back, its the "Chinese" ( 03 ) version. From technical specs the only real difference between the 3 version is a differences in the LTE frequency support.

The code that people are requesting is the ability to access the bootloader so they can run custom roms on it. In simple terms Huawei sends you the ability to root the entire device so you can run anything you want on it. Unlike plenty of other phone's where you need to do tricks or use bugs to get complete access.

A quick way to compare is to look up the X1, where there are more examples out from. The X2 is technically just a X1 with a upgraded SOC. All the other components are the same. The upgrade fixes the only negative thing about the X1 ( the "slow(er)" and outdated A9 cores ).
For comparing to other phone's use this tool:
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/si...iaPad-X1,Sony-Xperia-Z-Ultra/phones/8427,7883
Try the "VIEW LAYERED" option at the bottom to compare screen sizes.
If you want i can post tomorrow or Friday a few pictures comparing the Sony Z Ultra vs the X2. My X2 is going to be delivered tomorrow and i still have my ZU for a few more days.

Help with the Mate 9 Pro in the US

Returning to Android after 2 years, and I've been doing a bit of research. I keep getting drawn to the Mate 9 Pro (Kirin 960, 6 GB, 128GB). I have some concerns though.
Will it work on all of the T-Mobile Bands (It seems yes, but I'd like to be sure)?
Can I use Google Play Services since it's a Huawei phone not made for the US Market?
Can someone confirm the navigation buttons can be made to be on screen only, and disable the physical capacitive keys?
Will Wi-Fi calling for T-Mobile work on Mate 9 Pro?
Best place to buy one that is reputable?

1. Yes.
2. Yes (but it will be a pain if you get the Chinese version. Best to get the European, Asian, or Middle East version)
3. I don't know.
4. No.

Go for it! You'll not regret it.
People like to be i-know-it-all... everyone knows better than everyone... how things should be done, how things should and shouldn't work and make a lot of noise about silly things.
Find a phone that no one complains about, any phone, any price, and proove me wrong!
Go for 64GB especially if You ever need (or might need) to use dual SIM.
Minimizes (maybe even eliminates?) need of extra sd-card.

Go for it and take 64gb version. It might sound like too much, but some of the data is taken by system etc, so you don't really have full 64gb for your usage. Photos and 4K videos will eat storage, install some GPS app with full Europe/US map and you have no free space with 32gb version in a blink of an eye.
Linked thread is nothing to worry about, just an exaggeration of the existing situation and unfulfilled expectations and dreams.

i know what you mean.....
Does A1 have an official 32gb version? Afaik it only has 64gb, unlike Mi 5x which has both
Here we have it.
Get a Moto G5 Plus or G5s plus instead..

Hello all! Quick questions for you :)

Hi all guys!
I am considering to get the Nokia 7 however I am still not 100% sure because of the non-localization it provides. I would appreciate if you could answer some of my questions to help me out decide:
1. Is the stock rom multilanguage? If not, is there a multilanguage rom to be flashed?
2. What about the band 20 (800mhz)? Did anyobody realize if it is a hardware limitation or only software (i see that in a few Xiaomi devices like the Mi 5c they managed to unlock it). Is anybody working on it?
3. What should one do to localize it in Europe? Installing Playstore, G services and gapps?
Basically, would you recommend it as a good buy in Europe? I really like it more than the Nokia 7+ because of its form factor.
Thanks to all of those who will help me out
Hi Andy, I bought it on LightintheBox, I did not know the phone, but I got it anyway because I liked it. Now I need China Rom to enable updates from HMD GLOBAL. They told me it's Global version, but it's really raw as an operating system. This Global version does not update. For now is not good for Europe without updates. I'm living in Italy so there is no band 20 (800mhz).
Hi Andy,
I brought mine from coolicool last month and
1. yes, it does come with a multilanguage rom... which cannot be stock because that is chinese+english only. upon startup the phone lapses into an endless "checking for updates" cycle but it can be circumvented (see above topic) after which it works normally.
2. B20 (800mhz) does not seem to be supported by the hardware. that said, the phone works flawlessy on both 3G and 4G (vodafone), handles wifi and data well, comes with google's basics installed and downdoads/updates apps via playstore as it should.
3. based on my (limited) experience, i do recommend it.
pros: well designed and built, runs smoothly, no bloatware, bargain for USD 250
cons: not exactly international (might not see the android 8 update already out for the chinese version), system takes up 17GB (!) of internal memory
nokia 7

hi i bought a nokia 7 global rom from china and the rom causes a lot of problems .So i advise you to go for the chinese/english version and get ota updates and install google play apk file. Now i have flashed back to stock firmware(chinese/english) and now the phone works properly on android 8.1.0. .About band 20 i think is working
here in sweden as far as i know.I think it is a good buy if it is on stock rom(chinese/english) version so good luck

The camera AI function is enabled by default on my phone (and I setup the phone on non China region which is recommended if you want Google Play out of the box).

Probably yoyo the personal assistant.
I have the phone also. I'm hopeful that yoyo will be released in English, otherwise I think I'd have preferred the p20 pro

The camera is good but not great. It will work well for most people. The wide angle is nice and some of the AR features are fun to play with.
The speakers are probably less than you would like. They aren't bad for YouTube but not loud if you want music in a less quiet environment.
I'll gladly try to answer any other questions.
Hey
How is netflix on it, does it support HD or even HDR content and what about other players like amazon video/youtube?
Is the button used for Yoyo reconfigurable? or just a waste of a button?
