3GB or 2GB? - HTC One A9

Hello guys,
Well, I was using OnePlusX for the last month and 2 days ago I got the HTC One A9 Carbon grey 2GB/16GB.
Since I used to have HTC phones, I started to like the phone more than the OPX; camera is much better, fingerprint scanner, NFC and the Sense UI.
Now my question is: is it worth it to get the 3GB/32GB variant? Since Marshmallow supports blending the external storage with the internal, this is not going to be an issue, but is the 3GB worth the upgrade?
Is the 2GB enough for Marshmallow?
Thank you.

I recommend you to go for 32/3 gb ram
16 merged with SD can never give equal storage speed to the normal, 32
Also 3 gb will live longer and Boost your using experience

Thanks for the reply.
After using the phone for 3 days now, I can see that yes 2GB is doing very well.
Just out of curiosity, what I understand is that the 3GB variant is only available in the US market, so there is like 2 versions: international which is unlocked and comes with 2GB, and US which is either unlocked or locked (AT&T, Sprint etc...) and comes with 3GB, am I right?

The 3gb one is also available in Asia, Taiwan and India. And it's unlocked. Probably MEA too, where both 2gb and 3gb options are available. Europe, yes, mostly has 2gb variant.

If you ask me if matters a lot. I have seen couple of videos on YouTube where 2GB version is compared against other flagship phones and the multitasking struggles there. I own a 32GB version and i did the same test and figured out this one is far better than today's many top flagship phones. I opened temple run, modern comba and 15 other apps and then tested the multitasking, hell phone need not load them, the apps are open and in pause mode wherever required. Fb and whatsapp are in the same place where i left and i cant see a fraction of loading struggle.

Also, with the ram usage monitor in Android, iirc, the average usage is 2.5GB of the 3GB.
So 2GB is just short of break-even.

I have the 2GB Modell and have no Problems with it. Sure 3GB is better, but i can not find any problems with the 2Gb Model.

The "Memory" monitor gives the average RAM used, which will always be close to the limit, mine is giving an average of 1.5GB/2GB.
In Developer options - Running services, you can see the real time scale of RAM usage, I think this what really matters.
Until now, I have no problem with the 2GB, and I have SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB, which I think can handle read/write operations pretty fast.
Hope @Captain_Throwback can give his opinion in this matter... Sorry to bother you!

At&t hox or international hox?

Im buying one of these bad boys or girls. The At&t one off contract or the international one. I played with the hox at my local at&t store and it was buttery smooth. Didnt wow me a whole lot but nowadays the next android device is only a tad better than the next...etc. My main concern is performance and the 32gb space that the international one has. Im worried with the at&t 16gb will run out fast on me. This from my 16gb microsd card days. So which one should I get guys?
Comes down to what is more important to you...LTE or storage space. If it's LTE, get the AT&T version...if it's storage, get the international version.
Personally, warranty is important. If you can get an international with warranty and not in a LTE area, go for it.
I am in Dallas so I will get the AT&T one for warranty comfort and LTE speeds
50mb down here

Lol, it should be a no brainer then. In what mostly do you use your space on?
I used to use most of my space on music, but not anymore thanks to google play.
I would take the quad core version. It should be much smoother and faster everywhere. No LTE also means better battery life.
This question has been asked and answered a million times on here... You should take a look.
But here you go.
AT&T HOX= LTE and longer battery life
International HOX= 32gb and if you're an avid phone gamer tegrazone may interest you.
And warranty stuff comes into play too.
Everything else comes to what your decision is.
And let me add the S4 has a faster CPU but inferior GPU. The difference is so minute though you probably won't notice.
Also keep in mind you get 25GB of free Dropbox space. I know it's not a direct replacement for internal storage, but it's something to keep in mind if 16GB seems a little too small.

Thanks! I needed a good laugh tonight! For the first time, I am glad AT&T is getting the dumbed down dual core version.
I dont care much for lte atm. And I'm tempted to get the int. hox but all those issues I've read about it really have me on hold. Nothing like bringing your device back to an at&t store compared with shipping it back to wherever you purchased your international version for a replacement etc. I just wish the int. hox didnt have all those issues like the screen especially

You think. But let me tell you the htc one xl is no where near to being released in internationally. It was not enough announced here in asia. The eventual release is being pushed back indefinitely until 28nm chip shortage ease up. In fact all snapdragon s4 chips supporting lte are going to US and Canada as the priority. A small amount of 28 nm production goes towards the msm8260 non lte s4 chip in the one s which is only released for t- mobile and a couple of european countries so far. We get the hardest kick in the ball.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.
Please don't give out misinformation
The S4 has the higher DMIP values, which means stronger processing power in general purposes. IF you like games, get the T3 for the Tegrazone, if graphics are important. If you demand your phone to work as advertised, with little or no lag, get the S4.

I'm convinced this is a typo.
The Australian site is the only one to list 32GB. The Hong Kong, US and Canadian sites all list 16GB for the LTE model.
And as of yet, no Australian carrier has even announced they'll be carrying the One XL.

Reduced-core but highly-improved core, I wouldn't say dumbed down whatsoever.

Yeah, I know. Did I not come across with enough sarcasm?
I believe HTC dropped the ball here by giving north americans the 16gb version. They could've been smarter, dare I say apple smart, and offered both versions here 16gb and the 32gb version.
Now I just noticed from the latest leaked galaxy s3 pics that it has a big led notification light. Now I'm interested in hearing what they gotta say in a couple of days.

Skyrocket HD..taken off AT&T?

Weird !
The Skyrocket HD seems to have been taken off AT&T's device info list????
Any one else knows anything more???
Was going to buy it !! So am desperate for info !!
Thanks.
I would say they are saving that space for the sgs3. They already have an HD phone with similar specs to the skyrocket HD. The one X probably took it's place.

The top of the line At&t phone right now in terms of performance is the HtC One X.
8960 1.5ghz dual core with andreno 225 graphics. Faster than anything out right now. But it has some major drawbacks.

The built in 16gb of memory, is probably a micro SD card built into it. There have been other phones in the past that have done this.

Sent from low Earth orbit with my Skyrocket.
I played with the One X and it "feels" much better than the skyrocket does in my opinion. I'm probably going to get it next week and let my wife use my skyrocket. Of course this depends on what Samsung announces tomorrow. If the AT&T S3 has the same screen as the galaxy nexus and the same Snapdragon S4 SoC as the One X then i would take the One X over it because the screen on the One X is the best screen i've ever seen on a mobile phone period. I also found that even the demo units in AT&T stores performed much better than my skyrocket tweaked out at it's best. I *hope* the Galaxy S3 comes with a better screen than the galaxy nexus plus expandable memory, etc. I also hope it's as sexy as the One X. but most importantly I hope it comes out relatively soon cause I don't want to wait 4 months for the AT&T version to come out. rather just get the One X.
Either way I upgrade phones every 6-9 months anyway.
edit: Also want to add that the camera on the One X is REALLY nice. it matters to some people but not to others.
I advise anyone who hasn't to check out AnandTech's THOROUGH review of the AT&T One X at http://www.anandtech.com/show/5779/htc-one-x-for-att-review/1

Maybe I'm just ignorant because I've only had devices with removable batteries, but this seems to be a major problem for me.
I'm a habitual rom flasher, so I know boot loops happen (sometimes quite often). How does one completely turn the phone off if you can't pull the battery? Or what else do you do?

How's the general performance of this phone? I am planning to keep this phone for some time. How often does it heats up? There was a YouTube video where it's temperature reached over 50 degrees. Did something like this happen to any of you?
I've been using the Mi 4i as a replacement for my Nexus 5, and I must say I quite like it so far. The phone does get a little hot when watching video (CPU temperature can reach 45-50 degrees), but within reasonable range.

Lg flex 2 or OnePlus X?? Also are there any good phones for 200?

i sent my lg flex 2 back to currys and pc world for a full refund as i was getting really bad overheating problems unless i was rooted so i can eaither rebuy a flex 2 and hope that this one wont overheat as someone else did that on this forum and it didnt overheat or i could just get my refund and buy a whole new phone altogether, i am think the oneplus X but if there are any better phones then that could you please leave it in the comment down below as i dont know what to chose from
(Budget is 220)
Check out Xiaomi Mi4c, u can get 3/32GB version for about $220.
It's Snapdragon 808 so performance very close to Flex 2 and it doesn't overheat.
No SD slot but 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is plenty imo.
I had mi4c and kinda regret i sold it and got Flex 2...
Oneplus X is much slower but has very nice build quality, also plenty of development on xda (custom roms).
Flex 2 will overheat no matter what because it's older Snapdragon 810 revision.
got my missus a redmi note 3 pro, which has the SD650 chipset and is very fast, @80,000 for antutu. It seems very good so far and has really good battery life, 10-11 hours screen on time here, and is very cheap. Only thing I've had to do to it is turn off memory optimisation in developer settings because it was killing apps in the background at an insane rate, making downloads fail, home screen redraws etc.. the other thing is it might not support 4g on certain networks, you'll have to check
best bit is if you drop it, you don't care

General Tips for Buying Used Phones.
Don't have any tips on a specific replacement phone, but when shopping in general Swappa is a good place to find cheap phones (and is the official marketplace for XDA.) This is where I'd look first thanks to the support and generally good community.
I actually picked my G Flex 2 off of a Craigslist ad for $130 USD and saw several other 2015 phones under $200 in my area; excellent prices can be had but no buyer protection this way. If you take this route, make sure to get pics of any damage if not listed, ask if anything is wrong/everything works, and recheck everything in person before the purchase. Request phone to be charged so you can use the phone hands-on and make sure the OS is functional; check the software version in system settings and look for signs of root apps (mine was rooted by the previous person so I immediately reflashed stock ROM and rooted myself once home, just to be sure nothing nasty like spyware or a device recovery app was left behind on there.) Bring small accessories too that you want to make sure will work like USB cord with charger, headphones, NFC tag, etc. Most importantly, arrange to make the phone purchase at the phone's carrier store. I scheduled the purchase to be at a Sprint store for my LS996 so I could verify with them if the ESN was blacklisted or clean, or if there was anybody else who had the phone on their account (active or inactive.) I could've asked for the MSL code and official Unlock to GSM Domestic once confirmed clean by Sprint but I've made the phone work on AT&T GoPhone LTE without it using the guide here.
Regardless of you go through, make sure to take all reasonable precautions to make sure the phone works and will suit you. Pay attention to the seller's attitude too: typically honest sellers will accommodate most requests and dishonest ones may question you or refuse your requests. You may also get a dishonest seller that is eager to rush the sale if they sense you aren't catching something wrong with the purchase - honest sellers will generally be patient if you show genuine interest in buying.
You made a mistake to give it back .for the price flex 2 is the best out there. As for oneplus x it has the 801 snapdragon that means an older processor like the original oneplus.
And one advice from a fellow "performance freak" . dont rely on benchmarks only they are a useful tool to check performance but everyday use is a better factor. For example:
One of the fastest phones out there is samsung s7 exynos version.
But it has a slower gpu than the snapdragon820 version.
In Geekbench for example the exynos version gets far better scores. In every day use the single core performance matters at most. Multicore is for gaming mostly.
In antutu the snapdragon version gets better scores because of the better gpu.

Mi4c is better.
The screen is terrible on the g flex 2. But it has a far better camera then the OnePlus x.
Also i'd pick Snapdragon 801 over 810 anyday. The battery drain is ridiculous with the 810.

I think the opo x have better updates, but if that is not important for you... take a flex2.
Any way take a look at findyourperfectphone.com, have a chart with phones filtered for price/value, and one expert mode to see all phone with the aspects that you want...
Thanks for all your help but I bought a HTC One a9

what is the differens between 6gb and 4bb version

what is the differens between 6gb and 4bb version i performance . any banchmark?
There is no difference between this two in performance, maybe if you are a hard multitasker.
2 GB's!
just extra ram for better multitasking i hope and it comes with 128gb to instead of 64gb as default
2GB ram which should help it perform better.
I recently had oneplus 3t which i noticed was extremely fast and smooth, pleasantly surprised. So i would say you will notice the difference only if you put both 4gb and 6gb side by side and perform tests. In real life use you won't notice much difference tbh.
Probably only notice it without huawei battery optimization stuff enabled. My 4gb model always have 2ish gbs of ram left but I close 90% of stuff most of the time.
If any has side to side. Comparetion link as youtube it will be nice.

The speed of the OnePlus 3 is not because it has more RAM than other devices... They have done some tweaks on the software ( aggressive kernel, animations, better file system than the average) and optimizations.

If you are going to use your phone for more than 1 year I would get the 6/128.

I would get the European model with the warranty. Peace of mind above all. The OS runs buttery smooth as it is and you can always add more storage via MicroSD.
