Really sad man.
I was waiting for this from june starting but now confused between
Moto g3 n this :/

The new moto g 3rd gen looks ugly. I would just get the xiaomi and then flash CM on it. Though the mi 4i screen has these digitizer dots on it and can be seen in bright light.

Darn. Just gotten the 16gig variant last week before this news hits.
16gig is really not enough, but I needed a phone urgently. Well, so far so good, apart for the lack of memory issue

Mi 4i with 32gb and CM12.1 will be an awesome phone, sadly it's not available in singapore.

Guys use USB OTG! I got the 64 GB San Disk OTG USB drive for ~25 US$ after discount (was $50) and it works beautifully. All my videos and stuff which I don't use a lot is in there. Only my Nandroid backup and a copy of my own CM build (I'm testing a lot to make it stable at least) and some other stuff is in my internal storage.

What you guys experienced?
I have waited for this 32gb version for almost more than a month, should go for it or not?

What about the compatibility of 32gb version with already available roms? Will it require all separate development due to different kernel source? I'm also considering to buy it over Moto X Play because of same processor.

I'm guessing everything is fine, the whole device is still the same... Just the only changed thing is the storage

and I dont face any problem flashing roms , everything is same just the storage .

How's the general performance of this phone? I am planning to keep this phone for some time. How often does it heats up? There was a YouTube video where it's temperature reached over 50 degrees. Did something like this happen to any of you?

I've been using the Mi 4i as a replacement for my Nexus 5, and I must say I quite like it so far. The phone does get a little hot when watching video (CPU temperature can reach 45-50 degrees), but within reasonable range.

Help choosing a phone..

Hi
I'm planning to move on from my SGS 2 to a newer model.. but I'm not able to make up my mind.
I'm interested in the 4G SGS 3 though I've been thinking about the next nexus phone from LG or the upcoming HTC One X+...
My current phone is working perfectly fine but I'm looking for a phone with more speed as well as with 4G/LTE..
Should I wait it out for early next year to have better choices or should I just go in for the SGS 3?
By the way, Samsung is my preferred manufacturer, followed by HTC.. I've no idea how LG phones are in terms of build quality, support, etc.
Thanks in advance. Cheers.

Thanks.. I like the SGS3 a lot, though it's just so difficult to decide on one phone...
By the way, here in Finland, we have a deal going on for the Galaxy Nexus, with the current price of 370€ (http://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/s?s=1&q=51397+or+23156) and is valid until next Monday 21.10 and this seems to be the best deal in Finland at the moment. The standard price is ~450€ I think...
Is there any sense is getting the Galaxy Nexus considering there are the newer Nexus devices coming up? In particular HTC “J Butterfly” Nexus 5 (along with the LG Nexus as mentioned previously)?
Thanks again. Cheers...
Edit: Also, regarding the processor, I'm no expert but from the reviews and reports, I see there are the Tegra 3 processors (like the one in HTC One X+) or the Qualcomm 'snapdragon' processors or Exynos processors and similar... Which is the better one? Should I chose a device that comes with a specific processor if I want to have a speedy, fast, high end phone?
And of course, I would like a manufacturer that regularly updates the OS without major delays whenever a new Android is being released...
Well I have the nexus, and that price is very very high. Ofcourse it is new from store but I have my nexus for 275 euro's. Second hand but only 6 month's old. Great phone but if I were you, I should wait for the gs4. Depends on how fast you need a phone, considering the gs4 is coming out in march 2013. If you can't wait I should definately buy the HTC one X+ or the GS3.

I'm not in a real hurry to get a new phone as my current SGS2 is working great (and there is a possibility that JB will arrive soon for the SGS2)... But I just wanted to kind of 'upgrade' from the SGS2 to a more powerful, newer phone... Hence my questions regarding should I really wait (though I understand it's a kind of silly question considering how many new devices keep popping up every month) or just go in for a model such as the SGS3 or HTC One X+ that's been proven to be a great phone....
Basically I can wait for the new one.. I'm looking at having a new one by March/April 2013.
If you can wait just wait Mate, I know your feelings so many new phones but can't choose a good one and every time there is coming a new one out.

Work phone with an exact requirement/feature
Background:
I have just bought a Motorola Defy Plus. The reason I purchased it was - I wanted a phone that could allow me t record work calls and Defy Plus seemed promising as it enjoys good amount of support in the developers here and it was like very cheap. Now when I see the work involved in rooting and flashing custom rom I find myself not too sure about my capability of managing the whole process. Even if I do manage the rooting and flashing the custom rom, I still do not have any definitive information if call recording will be possible
New search:
Given the above now I am exploring any other phones that will allow me to take care of this requirement of recording my calls incoming and outgoing , without speaker, in the stock straight out of the box condition. Besides this particular requirement my usage of the phone is very mundane - some voice calls, minimal texting , little bit of email, no games , minimal camera, once in a while a couple of minutes of music if ever.
So if any of you can give me a suggestion i.e. which phone and which app - if you have a working combo - which will solve my problem shall appreciate it very much.
Cheers
Wait, even if the nexus devices aren't to your liking they are going to drive the price of current devices down. I have the SGS3 but sources / docs for exynos processors are sketchy so support isn't stellar. TBH if support matters go with nexus although you'll have to sacrifice sd support.

Speed is awesome
Battery life gets me from 9am to 11pm depending on how you/i use it.

Build quality is the same as the s2 ..

I would recommend the G3. You can wait for the next phone to come up but you'll find that there is always a new phone about to be launched so you can wait forever. I've recently transitioned to the g3 and enjoy it very much. Liked it a lot better once I rooted and put a JB rom on it.

Should i Buy a Moto G and sell my S3 Mini?

Hi, everyone I got a deal yesterday, my friend wants to buy my s3 mini and someone is selling me a moto g, I just need a few more bucks which I can get to buy the moto g 16gb, do you think its a good choice? Or should I stay with my s3 mini? Idk what to do, sadly I can't afford a high spec phone right now, but I'm interested on the moto g cause its pure Google, good battery and design, which I love, I'm kinda concerned about the SD too, but also I might buy an iPod which will give me a lot of free memory, merry Xmas BTW

The Moto G is a better speced phone than the s3 mini. You made the right choice.
sent from my Moto G using Tapatalk
Yes! do it! I came from an s3 mini which i used for about a year. Overall i love the auto brightness on the moto g seeing how the s3 mini doesnt have it and screen at 100% brightness wasn't that good in the sun. While the Moto G at 100% brightness it is very good even in the sun. Also better battery life with medium usage 2.5+ hr of games i was able to get 8 hours of screen on time with 17 hours of standby time! That's really good seeing how i average about 3.5 hours of SOT with my mini. In the end it is worth upgrading to the Moto G!!
Thinking exactly this same thing. I bet I'll order my moto g soon.. This s3 mini is making me sick with all these samsung bloatwares and STericsson's crappy processor with no source code.. So not much development here. Sammy has also left us "because of Samsung is too small company to get source code from STEricsson and make futher android updates." Definitely my first and last sammy device. Nexus/moto line is the way to go. Pure android, nice hardware and great price. 200e about quadcore device, can't go wrong I think
Sd card is thing that makes me wonder but I guess 16GB version is just fine. As I understood moto g should support usb-otg, if so then storage is not problem at all
Sent from my GT-I8190 using Tapatalk
Go for it!
Sell the s3 mini and get the moto G, right now! It would be the best decision you've made in the whole year :good:
This is no brainer!

Hi,
My friend has a Note 3 (which i used for a week before buying the D838) and trust me ... Not regretting at all.... Infact my friend is the one hunting for a LG G Pro 2.... Its fast.... Amazing bulit in apps (including the G2 Quick Remote... It has almost all brands...Including a Micromaxx TV... which i was surprised..) Aprt from that...Good and clean UI.... I deint feel a need to installa a 3rd party launcher....Stock is good enough..Battery capacity lasts GOOD 1 and a half day....(heavy usage..) and it looks good.... I personally feel that i own the best phone currently...

Hey,
like you i was going to go for a OnePlus One but the chances of getting one are slim with it's invite system and so on. So I got the G Pro 2 (D838) in the end. my wife has a note 3. the G Pro 2 is larger than the Note 3, but it doesn't feel any larger in your hand.
if you don't like large devices, then get the G3 or the S5.
Performance - about the same as the Note 3. it's a SnapDragon 800 with 3GB RAM. No issues from me.
Bonus - you can easily get accessories for the LG/Samsung phones compared to the OnePlus.
Development wise - not much from what I've seen. Depends what you want to do. There's a root available which works well.
I came from a Samsung S3 running CM11 - I have rooted but that's all I need for some of my apps. I don't think I'll bother flashing custom ROMs for the time being.

Still worth it NOW?

Hello,
I had a Xperia Z1 before and it had some problems so I sent it to Sony just a week ago and they are going to destroy the phone and leave me with nothing (unless i pay, then i get the broken device back) so I'm looking for a new phone just after 3 months :/ The oneplus two seems nice but I don't really want to spend 400 bucks on a phone as i'm only 16 years old and don't have the money for it yet! I can get the 16gb model but my music library is about that size lol! The oneplus one seems nice but I'm not exactly sure if I should buy it or not as I've seen people post stuff about messy touch screens which is a problem I really don't want!
Has this been fixed in recent updates and is this still a good phone to get for 300 bucks(64gb)?
Thanks in advance!

Only advice would be not to upgrade to 5.1 and continue using it on 4.4..for the sake of battery of course.. [emoji56]

Yup, there's no problem with it, I got one bought in January till now and it has no issues at all, no yellow tint or touch problem. Previously I got 1 early China batch one it indeed has yellow tint, but it doesn't as annoying or visible as you think.
Also vote for staying on KK, Lollipop the battery drain like nobody business. (Stock CM12S/CM12.1, Stock Kernel too)

I don't think they'll stop the sales anytime sooner. The phone is selling a lot even now, after a year of it's release. So take your time.
I'm sorry I didn't see the date of your query, but You will not find a better phone for the money. I won't ask how they managed to refuse to warranty the phone, but that is a shame. Hopefully you can save up some money and get one.

Yes its totally worth it. I bought my g3 in January of this year and as days pass by I started hating it. There was barely any development, the battery didn't last long, and it got pretty warm after sometime. I trade it for a one plus one and I'm not regretting it whatsoever I mean it doesn't have the fancy features like the g3 but the only thing I used on my g3 was the radio sometimes and rarely the ir blaster.

Its still a decent device, although I'm keeping an eye on the ZUK Z1 which has been announced for international release to day (available October), with Cyanogen OS. Its basically shares many of the same internal hardware with the OPO, but has some additional features like OIS, dual SIM, finger print scanner, USB Type C, bigger battery, (arguably) nicer build materials.

I sold my 64gb One Plus One (only had it for a few months, got it after the invite system went away) to fund a One Plus Two but ultimately decided to get a Mi Note instead. Love it; far happier than I was with the One. The One had ghost touches, yellowing screen, crap and a half camera (who cares about 4K if HD and FHD still look bad) and horrible onboard sound quality. The Mi is fantastic. Giant LCD (I'm 6'6" so this is a plus), OIS camera, best audio DAC I've ever hear on a phone. And I really like MIUI. One Plus MIUI is broken.
The only downside is shipping from China, but mine arrived no problem (15 days, most of those spent in some sort of customs). 16GB are roughly the same, 64GB Mi Note is cheaper than comparable OP2.
Answer to your title: No! You can find better devices with the same money.

I heard that band issue can be fixed by using it in the sun or putting it under some UV light, so if I have it I'll try that
To be honest, I'd take the Moto x Style or Moto x Play. With the new style center from Motorola and the 20 mp camera on the Play edition, it really stands out and may even be better then the 1+2.

The original Flex still doesn't have LP officially, so there's a chance the trend will stick for the Flex 2. I can say that the G4 & maybe G3 will receive 6.0 next year. The G2 was leaked with 5.1.1, which will likely be the final update.

It's not clear what LG will do. The Flex was also a fast phone with the SD800, and that didn't encourage them to update it either...I think we should stay positive and see what LG does by 2016.

Im really disappointed with the lack of development on this phone. its got beter specs than most phones out there and Im sure it would be a killer with an aosp rom...probably gonna trade it for the nexus 6

Locked boot loader is interfering with development, but I don't recall LG ever releasing kernel sources for this model either.
