Im buying one of these bad boys or girls. The At&t one off contract or the international one. I played with the hox at my local at&t store and it was buttery smooth. Didnt wow me a whole lot but nowadays the next android device is only a tad better than the next...etc. My main concern is performance and the 32gb space that the international one has. Im worried with the at&t 16gb will run out fast on me. This from my 16gb microsd card days. So which one should I get guys?
Comes down to what is more important to you...LTE or storage space. If it's LTE, get the AT&T version...if it's storage, get the international version.
Personally, warranty is important. If you can get an international with warranty and not in a LTE area, go for it.
I am in Dallas so I will get the AT&T one for warranty comfort and LTE speeds

Lol, it should be a no brainer then. In what mostly do you use your space on?
I used to use most of my space on music, but not anymore thanks to google play.
I would take the quad core version. It should be much smoother and faster everywhere. No LTE also means better battery life.
This question has been asked and answered a million times on here... You should take a look.
But here you go.
AT&T HOX= LTE and longer battery life
International HOX= 32gb and if you're an avid phone gamer tegrazone may interest you.
And warranty stuff comes into play too.
Everything else comes to what your decision is.
And let me add the S4 has a faster CPU but inferior GPU. The difference is so minute though you probably won't notice.
Also keep in mind you get 25GB of free Dropbox space. I know it's not a direct replacement for internal storage, but it's something to keep in mind if 16GB seems a little too small.

Thanks! I needed a good laugh tonight! For the first time, I am glad AT&T is getting the dumbed down dual core version.
I dont care much for lte atm. And I'm tempted to get the int. hox but all those issues I've read about it really have me on hold. Nothing like bringing your device back to an at&t store compared with shipping it back to wherever you purchased your international version for a replacement etc. I just wish the int. hox didnt have all those issues like the screen especially

You think. But let me tell you the htc one xl is no where near to being released in internationally. It was not enough announced here in asia. The eventual release is being pushed back indefinitely until 28nm chip shortage ease up. In fact all snapdragon s4 chips supporting lte are going to US and Canada as the priority. A small amount of 28 nm production goes towards the msm8260 non lte s4 chip in the one s which is only released for t- mobile and a couple of european countries so far. We get the hardest kick in the ball.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.
Please don't give out misinformation
The S4 has the higher DMIP values, which means stronger processing power in general purposes. IF you like games, get the T3 for the Tegrazone, if graphics are important. If you demand your phone to work as advertised, with little or no lag, get the S4.

I'm convinced this is a typo.
The Australian site is the only one to list 32GB. The Hong Kong, US and Canadian sites all list 16GB for the LTE model.
And as of yet, no Australian carrier has even announced they'll be carrying the One XL.

Yeah, I know. Did I not come across with enough sarcasm?
I believe HTC dropped the ball here by giving north americans the 16gb version. They could've been smarter, dare I say apple smart, and offered both versions here 16gb and the 32gb version.
Now I just noticed from the latest leaked galaxy s3 pics that it has a big led notification light. Now I'm interested in hearing what they gotta say in a couple of days.

If you are upset at paying $199.00 for a subsidized device, feel free to purchase an LTE model from a Canadian telco or a Tegra 3 device from overseas. You have options as a consumer.
I feel like people still don't understand the concept of subsidized.
The embargo for the AT&T reviews was lifted at 6pm EST. Everything I've read so far is simply outstanding. Battery life appears to be excellent with LTE. Wow.

Wow! So impressed with the snapdragon S4 processor, better battery life and performs better than the tegra 3. Wow!
One of the review said the ring around the camera on the AT&T version is a bit thicker than the international one. Good new to those who worry about scratching the camera lens!

Weird !
The Skyrocket HD seems to have been taken off AT&T's device info list????

I would say they are saving that space for the sgs3. They already have an HD phone with similar specs to the skyrocket HD. The one X probably took it's place.

8960 1.5ghz dual core with andreno 225 graphics. Faster than anything out right now. But it has some major drawbacks.

Sent from low Earth orbit with my Skyrocket.
I played with the One X and it "feels" much better than the skyrocket does in my opinion. I'm probably going to get it next week and let my wife use my skyrocket. Of course this depends on what Samsung announces tomorrow. If the AT&T S3 has the same screen as the galaxy nexus and the same Snapdragon S4 SoC as the One X then i would take the One X over it because the screen on the One X is the best screen i've ever seen on a mobile phone period. I also found that even the demo units in AT&T stores performed much better than my skyrocket tweaked out at it's best. I *hope* the Galaxy S3 comes with a better screen than the galaxy nexus plus expandable memory, etc. I also hope it's as sexy as the One X. but most importantly I hope it comes out relatively soon cause I don't want to wait 4 months for the AT&T version to come out. rather just get the One X.
Either way I upgrade phones every 6-9 months anyway.
edit: Also want to add that the camera on the One X is REALLY nice. it matters to some people but not to others.
I advise anyone who hasn't to check out AnandTech's THOROUGH review of the AT&T One X at http://www.anandtech.com/show/5779/htc-one-x-for-att-review/1

Maybe I'm just ignorant because I've only had devices with removable batteries, but this seems to be a major problem for me.

It's nice but the price is a nightmare.
Paying Samsung 650 to unlock and run AOSP on S4.. That's how I see it.
The Google edition samsung galaxy s4 seems a little garbage to me. Why does it have capactive buttons instead of onscreen buttons, hence ruining the "nexus" experience.
Since it has LTE I bet its the qualcomm snapdragon processor, which means aosp roms for snapdragon S4s will be quite stable but exynos one will still have problems.
Anyone wanting a "pure" stock experience better get a nexus 4 or nexus 10.
price is the only problem
I still wonder why onboard storage is so low. Yes, I understand that you can use a SD which can get pretty big, but wouldn't it be better to have more than just 16GB for developers?
Why didn't they just upgrade the damn nexus 4 with LTE. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

High compared to what? If you look at what an unsubsidised, unlocked, off-contract S4 costs in the US, it's $629. The Google version is only $20 more, and that's probably not too bad considering that you should get OS version updates around the same time as the Nexus phones, not 6-12 months later.
If you're comparing the price to what you pay on a contract, of course it's more expensive. When you buy the phone on contract, the carrier pays part of the price because they know they can suck money out of you and you're contractually obliged to keep paying them. You win, but you also lose.
to everyone complaining about a 649 price tag, the GS4 of both variants (exynos and snapdragon) here in australia are like, 699 dollars outright unlocked at the cheapest....
I really don't think the price is that terrible. The S4 is a top of the line device that was not built with keeping the price down in mind. What's going to be stopping people though from just buying a regular S4 on contract or cheaper used then just waiting for this one to come out. Samsung is more than likely going to be providing the drivers therefore that could be of help to such AOSP roms like CM.
I wonder if it would be possible to just put the stock firmware on to carrier purchased S4 and receive updates straight from google that way. I think that should be possible considering the hardware is exactly the same.
everything is ok , just about the high price
Times they are a changin' folks. The days of carrier subsidized phones could be near. Soon we'll have a better feel for what the consumer will pay for a smartphone. This will put the hurt on phone manufacturers to set realistic price and profit margins.
i suspect the S4 Google Edition's initial unlocked price has more to do with taking advantage of bleeding edge, must have, first adopters. You know who you are. Knock yourselves out.
Uhh, $650 is about the price for an unsubsidized, unlocked premium phone. You Nexus folk are a little spoiled with Google selling you phones at wholesale price. GSM carriers would flip if Google sold the S4, wholesale.
It came as a big surprise when Google announced this, but it's an interesting move. I kinda wish they just upgraded the Nexus 4 though... LTE and more storage (or SD slot) and it would be the perfect phone.

native AOSP without voiding any warranties, with over the air updates that come earlier than any other S4 updates and no chance for bricking and probably a further 6 months or so of native (i.e. none/very few of the bugs) updates after samsung gives up on the S4
I was about a day away from upgrading my AT&T Samsung GS3 to the LG G3 until I heard whispers of the updated Prime being released for the US at the Berlin IFA show. Anyone else hear anything else more substantial about it? Honestly this phone has everything i need, honestly a phone with more power right now is a bit overkill cause i don't think there is an app in which you need all of this processing power but if you haven't upgraded yet and you can wait until it comes out then more power to you cause i can tell you that this phone is awesome and with more speed it will feel better if not the same, but a newer phone might also mean that the bootloader unlock will take longer to achieve and root to cause they might fix everything that was good to exploit right now we are looking close to bootloader unlock or at least there is solid progress, but it's your pick man get an awesome phone at a discount or get the same phone with a bit more power at a later date at a more expensive price

I disagree with some of these statements.
First you have to ask yourself, what will you get out of a new device which your not getting in your current one?
Now that you've answered this, browse the phones that meet these prerequisites.
Read reviews, see which one has better res., faster processor, whatever meets YOUR needs, not necessarily the markets.
Look at the manufacturors' credentials to get a feel for how well they provide things like updates, support, etc.
Once you've made a decision, go for it. I came from the S4 to this since I bricked it... but typically I will wait a processor generation(1-2 years). Went from having a single core, to dual core, quad core, but f*ed up my phone, so I got a beefed up quad that was appeasing.
WHAT ARE YOUR NEEDS is my main point, sometimes there is never enough processing power for someone who has 5 email accounts, all of the common social networking apps && a high-process running launcher. It all depends on what you do with your device, but 3-6 months after the release of the first generation processor of it's kind is my rule of thumb...
My personal opinion & 2 cents worth. If I knew there was a prime coming out in two weeks from the day I was about to get this phone, I would hold out as well lol
Lol well i just bought the phone and im not up for renewal until 2 years again so i have to stick with this amazing LG G3 regardless .

Personally, I think you made a sound choice. From what I've been able to gather, the only difference in the Prime version, if it is even made available in the US, is that it will have an 805 processor. It was designed for the markets that use the cat6 lte band, which the US doesn't have. The 805 is supposed to have a better and more efficient graphics processor, but that doesn't mean a whole lot to me be a use I don't do much gaming. You might see a slight bump in performance and battery life, but we're probably still months away from seeing it in the states. By that time, the G4 will already be close, as well as devices with the 810 (I saw an article about it on DL today). I'm perfectly happy with the G3, and once the bootloader is unlocked (which appears to be soon, according to posts in the Bounty threads), I will be entertained for several months until we see the next gen devices.

I was about a day away from upgrading my AT&T Samsung GS3 to the LG G3 until I heard whispers of the updated Prime being released for the US at the Berlin IFA show. Anyone else hear anything else more substantial about it? Best Buy has the G3s on sale for $99 right now but if the phone is going to get a prime version I'd rather wait for that to see what they update....

There is no reason for LG to release it in the US. When it was released LG said they have no plans to have it outside of Korea. I think it should come to the US but I don't think it will. I have one coming from Korea in a few days which is what you should do if you want one. Also if you order it from Korea you get a spare battery, battery charger and headphones with the phone.
Its this time of the year guys! This thread is to discuss pre-orders across all stores and providers in Canada. To compare notes and ask ROBELUS related questions. I personally pulled the trigger for an unlocked (no subsidy) phone through best buy, delivery scheduled for the 16th and then I went back in an through Telus the pick up is on the 9th for some reason so I pulled the trigger on both. What did you order from where? What did you select? Pick up or delivery? Please share.
It seems the Exynos s9+ has 128gb of memory and the Snapdragon only 64gb. What gives?

Well the exynos is more expensive so at least you get more for your money, but ya stupid decision samsung.

That kind of makes me mad, like why can't samsung offer 64gb and 128gb/256gb in Canada. I mean if apple could do it, then samsung should have no excuse.
So there's no Exynos version? Wtf?

yeah there is an exynos version, not for Canada. I heard Samsung going be under-clocking exynos processors so they are the same performance of sd845.

One question though, does anyone know where to get the blue in Canada?

But on snapdragon, we wont have unlocked bootloader so no root , which means no xda stuff. Na man, i won't buy s9 then!
Hola
I am still on the fence about getting this device. One unique thing that I need is VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling features and currently you can only get these "advanced" functions by buying a phone directly from your carrier. I would be more inclined to get the Exynos version primarily because you can get decent third-party custom ROMs that, for the most part, provide a cleaner experience than the bloated full stock firmware.
Ah boy first world issues indeed...

Yes it is but my pick up date is the 9th. Guy on the phone confirmed it but in the store they're saying they might receive it on the 9th and still won't be able to sell it until the 16th. That's why I guess we'll see Friday.

I just went over my emails and it turns out they sent me an email telling me to disregard the shipping notice and that my phone will be ready for pick up on the 16th. Oh well...
Just placed my preorder online with Samsung.ca. SES is not too convenient for me and having read about some hassles with using the $150 credit against the phone, I figured online was easier as the credit is already applied and I may get my phone before the 16th.
But why you guys not worried about the Snapdragon processor, i mean locked bootloader. Are you guys okay with that?
Also the benchmark scores are drastically higher on Exynos (3600, 9500) as compared ro the crapdragon(2400,8500).

No point if Samsung going under clock the exynos version so it performs like sd845. That’s what people at anandtech found out, hopefully it’s not true.

Bro the geekbench scores are drastically high on exynos but yeah the the other scores are pretty low.. i think in real life, Exynos will still be faster than the Snapdragon.
People still pay attention to benchmarks? I have no issues with my SD835 S8+ and I only expect the S9+ to be even faster. I'll take real-world usage over benchmarks any day. Plus, I like being able to use VoLTE and having proper Carrier Aggregation support for LTE, something that I can't use if I import an Exynos version.
