Hi,
Happy XMas to everybody!
Got to see a Z5 Compact yesterday in a shop. Really interested in this device.
Could somebody tell me if STAMINA mode with performance restrictions option enabled reduce the heat issues?
I can live with less CPU power, but heat is a little bit of a problem, as I will get a case for the phone, and heat will dissipate less favorably.
MF
Edit: heat issues in camera/video mode is a not a concern as I won't shoot for more than 1 or 2 minutes. Talking about web surfing and games mostly here.

Why not ask on Z5c board?

You will need an aluminum case for any of Z5 model.

Hello guys!
I recently switched to this phone..
So my question is that whether it is my nexus 5 which heats up even after using it a little bit or anyone else is also having the same problem??????
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
To be honests, for me, the only way to get it noticebly hot is play Real Racing 3, Asphalt 8 or other heavy games.
Oh and using it for browsing, calls, facebook etc wile on charge heats it up too.
According my opinion its ( feels ) much cooler than N4, i had before.
U have any case/bumper ?
Can u also mention heat in degrees?
The Nexus 5 definitely runs much cooler overall than the Nexus 4. These devices with their processors are made to heat up in an intense situation such as gaming. The device has an individual heat sync to soak that up and release it once the processing you've initiated has been lowered. Heating up is normal. The device will know when it's too hot to function, but that would take a lot to happen.
Slight warmth is nothing to be concerned about when browsing, or on a call. You should be concerned if there is no heat and you're playing a game for a few minutes or more.
Odds are high, your battery will die before the heat to the processor damages the phone. If you're finding it's difficult to hold the device because it's hot on your hands, I'd suggest setting it on a flat surface or get yourself a snug case. Mind you, a case will concentrate the heat and could potentially make it worse.
See this is called heat, my screen and fingers were literally burning

There is some sought of problem with my device, thermal throttling doesn't turn on when using stock kernel
Its dead trigger 2
88C???
I think its too high indeed, although i dont play games.
Again, do u use any kind of "close type" case?
Sock kernel yes, but any kind of custom ROM with any modified system files ( build.prop etc ) ?
im thinking of buying this or note 4 i have an s5 right now. does rooting debloat and fixing the thermal settings fix the lag and overheating?or is there anything else that will. im a heavy user play switch in between games alot and depend on a decent battery life and dont like lag.
Basically same question here, except i already bought it.
By the way, i got it rooted.
I just got my Flex 2 and after debloating and tuning the thermal configuration I'm really enjoying it! Performs great.

Debloat and thermal settings has turned my phone into a powerhouse. On an average day, I see no more battery drain on the Flex 2 than I did on the original Flex (with a bigger battery and a smaller number of cores). However, if you're heavily into gaming, the GPU will certainly be enough, but for 3D intensive games the battery drains rather quickly (as expected, really).
I have compiled a list of everything I've removed for debloating here.
So no issues with overheating? I switch between games like madden , clash of clans, boom beach, magic rampage, and outwitters constantly so I was worried about the heating issue for a heavy user such as myself

The thermal throttling settings are still enabled, just set to a higher temperature. I have mine set to 65°C (as per the thermal throttling thread), and I know processors can get much hotter than that without failing (Apparently the HTC flagship cores get up to 80°C, don't while me on this, it's just a passive memory).
Iam thinking to buy xperia z5
I don't experience any heat problems
Sent from my Xperia™ Z5 using Tapatalk
I received the xperia z5 1 month ago. First i had a z3 compact with snapdragon 801. I have noted some heat differences. It's true that the z5 is an hot device, but not so much as you think. The most important problem is the battery... 1 day of normal use. With z3c i was having 2 days in normal usage.
Sorry for my bad english, never studied it.
That's right, I have no heating issues, but the battery could do better.
I have heating issue when play any game above 300mb it heat like heater so not able to play any good game but sometimes it dont heat while playing games like asphalt 8
I think its heat related to cores when shift
I experienced some pretty bad heat problems, the phone will get really hot while watching YouTube videos or open more than 4 apps. I still like it but it can get pretty hot sometimes.
Does it get hot under normal usage? How much degree celcius are you getting while doing basic task and watching video?
No no heat problems on mine. I believe Sony has introduced new technology for the heat problem.

Nope no signs of phone getting warmer. Played perfectly fine.
My XZ or XZs didn't get hot or even slightly warm, exactly the same deal with this, I would say it runs even cooler!
That link only offers me a max of 1080/60 not 4k

Because video in link is recorded to 1080/60fps...
The phone is runs cool and somehow has what's turning out to be quite a long battery life

Well, I have been testing my XZP for two now. It is getting warm - definitely. If you put it under extreme load, it´s getting warm, even that warm your palms get a little sweaty - but not uncompfy warm. My LG G4 in comparison got that hot you´d barely wanna touch it.
Look for an app on Google play called "epic citadel" and run it.
Left it going for about 30 minutes and walked around a bit. Phone got Luke warm. Used 8% of the battery.
Not so much hot to me

Any and all computer(s) CPU's will get warm to hot depending on the load. This is the nature of the beast. But mine does not get warm at all the way I use it. My battery life is phenomenal!
Gets warm if you play games for a long period, but nowhere near hot. Also I noticed that, compared to my old phone, the warmth is pretty much the same on the entire back. It's not just hot where the chipset is. All in all, the phone is awesome regarding heath control.
The phone does get hot after a while.
It's cool most of the time, and even if it gets hot, it has great cooling so leaving it alone cools it off in minutes.
As for the temperature, i was doing a stress test the other day (3D) and the phone seems to have capped at 38-39 Celsius degrees (that is slightly higher than body temperature so you can definitely feel it). I didn't check temperature after that though.
It also gets warmer while both watching and shooting at 4K, or high speed (even 1080p though).
However trust me, if you had the Z3 Compact like I did, that phone was a freaking furnace. My battery was affected by it. If want to use my Z3C as a gps in my car, i have to shove it in front of the AC to keep it cool otherwise I'm afraid it's going to evolve into a Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
So this phone is a big big improvement. Though I'd like a phone someday that definitely doesn't get hot. But maybe that's too much to ask.
As I'm typing this, after about 30 minutes of active use, my battery is 35 celsius degrees. From normal use.
A cell phone is just too small to dissipate heat in a very efficient manner. That is why super fast, and powerful, gaming desktop PC's have several fans installed in them along with huge heat sinks sitting right on top of the CPU. The heat sinks are larger than this entire phone! I am an IT Systems Engineer and if you've ever had the opportunity to go to a large data center where servers are housed you will quickly notice the high volume of moving air in the entire area. It can even get quite cold in some data centers all for the same reason... Computers can get very hot! So the fact that OEM's can keep these things as cool as they do, with the CPU housed in such a small, airtight space, is really a marvel of engineering.
Hello , the phone doesn't get hot like my z2 is used to be , I've managed twice to get the phone (on purpose) , but with normal usage 4K video / gaming etc it won't get hot unless you spam many task at hight speed
Hello Folks,
I am planning to buy poco X2 for my brother. I just want to know whether the device gets hotter when we play pubg? For sure, my brother won't switch to custom roms. So in stock os, is it getting hotter?
Also heard it device gets hotter while charging. Is it true?
using official charger, phone does not get hot, but its winter here so can't say anything for summers.
on PUBG yes phone gets hot on longer gaming sessions, i personally don't use case which helps but it gets uncomfortable after some time and you may also see device overheat pop-up. (no reboot or crash issues though)
Yes phones generate Heat while charging but it's normal for fast charging devices they tend to get hot while charging ( it's summer here almost 38° and device heats up to like 40° max)
Now if we come to gaming Device heats up to 40°-41° max while gaming said that it become little uncomfortable to hold without back cover
But you will not see decrease in performance as it's designed like that it will dissipate heat and not compromise performance
I will recommend this device ? You can definitely buy for your brother
But my suggestion if you can increase budget go with flagship processor if your focus is only gaming
