Iam thinking to buy xperia z5
I don't experience any heat problems

I received the xperia z5 1 month ago. First i had a z3 compact with snapdragon 801. I have noted some heat differences. It's true that the z5 is an hot device, but not so much as you think. The most important problem is the battery... 1 day of normal use. With z3c i was having 2 days in normal usage.
Sorry for my bad english, never studied it.
That's right, I have no heating issues, but the battery could do better.
I have heating issue when play any game above 300mb it heat like heater so not able to play any good game but sometimes it dont heat while playing games like asphalt 8
I think its heat related to cores when shift
I experienced some pretty bad heat problems, the phone will get really hot while watching YouTube videos or open more than 4 apps. I still like it but it can get pretty hot sometimes.

I'm on the verge of returning my G Flex 2. Maybe someone can convince me otherwise. It's missing features that OG Flex had, the battery is short lived, the processor heats up. Check this out:
http://www.androidauthority.com/snapdragon-808-vs-810-overheating-test-605273/
The throttling is unreal. Not only that, but the tests just weren't on the 810, it was on the G Flex 2.
Well the overheating is real, but I don't feel it in performance. I play a lot of games and although the phone heats up everything is running on stable 50fps. My oneplus one never went above 35 fps on the same games and heated up as well.

This phone doesn't seem to get nearly as warm as my nexus 6 did. I also do not have any system lag but I don't play many graphic intensive games. I did run antutu 5 times in a row to try to get it to heat I'll but it still didn't get that warm. What games are you playing that really gets it hot?

I play world of tanks which is rally demanding for the processor. I discovered that the overheating comes from tasks related to radios. See my post in the v10e update thread.

I play Hearthstone a lot. I also play CoC, Boss Monster, Subway Surfers, Smash Hit, Osmos, handheld emulators, Minecraft PE, etc. So basically all medium-intensive games. The device gets pretty damn warm on all of those games and drains the battery at 1% every 1 minute. It even lags occasionally. But, you're right, FPS doesn't seem to be affected too much.
But my problem is that even when it's not games, it still gets hot. Just watching netflix or youtube videos this thing gets warm. That's kind of sad. Maps and other data intensive apps will also heat it up.
Idk, I'm having a real tough time deciding on returning. It's got a higher resolution, a more manageable size/weight, and better looking software. But at the same time, it has a throttled CPU that heats up, a smaller battery + more battery drain, and what looks to be no support for any modding (no custom recovery, no back-to-stock method(for H950), no xposed (that might come later), and no ROMs). The forums just aren't thriving like the first Flex did.
There's other smaller factors, but battery and CPU are big factors for me...
For me the software update solved most of the basic overheating. But yes you are right this is not an ideal setup at the moment. Perhaps you are better off with a 2014 flagship.

And maybe I should wait for that software update. Because I'm still on 5.0.1. Is it supposed to get 5.1?

I heard nothing regarding 5.1 but it should be fine N the pipeline for a 2 months old phone.
But sadly you newer know how it goes with LG
Yes. It is supposed to get 5.1... Updates will fall in order of phone age. G4 to G Flex 2, then the G3 and finally the G2
im thinking of buying this or note 4 i have an s5 right now. does rooting debloat and fixing the thermal settings fix the lag and overheating?or is there anything else that will. im a heavy user play switch in between games alot and depend on a decent battery life and dont like lag.
Basically same question here, except i already bought it.
By the way, i got it rooted.
I just got my Flex 2 and after debloating and tuning the thermal configuration I'm really enjoying it! Performs great.

Debloat and thermal settings has turned my phone into a powerhouse. On an average day, I see no more battery drain on the Flex 2 than I did on the original Flex (with a bigger battery and a smaller number of cores). However, if you're heavily into gaming, the GPU will certainly be enough, but for 3D intensive games the battery drains rather quickly (as expected, really).
I have compiled a list of everything I've removed for debloating here.
So no issues with overheating? I switch between games like madden , clash of clans, boom beach, magic rampage, and outwitters constantly so I was worried about the heating issue for a heavy user such as myself

The thermal throttling settings are still enabled, just set to a higher temperature. I have mine set to 65°C (as per the thermal throttling thread), and I know processors can get much hotter than that without failing (Apparently the HTC flagship cores get up to 80°C, don't while me on this, it's just a passive memory).
Hi,
Happy XMas to everybody!
Got to see a Z5 Compact yesterday in a shop. Really interested in this device.
Could somebody tell me if STAMINA mode with performance restrictions option enabled reduce the heat issues?
I can live with less CPU power, but heat is a little bit of a problem, as I will get a case for the phone, and heat will dissipate less favorably.
MF
Edit: heat issues in camera/video mode is a not a concern as I won't shoot for more than 1 or 2 minutes. Talking about web surfing and games mostly here.

Why not ask on Z5c board?

You will need an aluminum case for any of Z5 model.
Hi, i hv facing some critical issues on my XPERIA XA, first of all it overheated after playing some high end games, e.g. MORTAL COMBAT X, REAL RACING 3, MC5 etc, and drained battery more faster than any other phone i'v. Any one facing problem like that, is any solution?

It's gonna get hot playing high end graphically intensive games just the same as any other device on the market will and drain the battery in the blink of a eye that's what games do.
The solution is either don't play games graphically intensive games for too long or play them where the device can get cool air if possible won't be a cure but it may help, or don't play them at all not really solutions I know but constantly overheating the device won't do it any good or using it while charging it.

Anyone experiencing overheating while multi tasking?

It gets warmer - ca. 40C, but didn't noticed any lag caused by it, so no overheating for me.
No overheating, seems the snapdragon 820 has solved the heat problem of the 810. Till now never experienced a temperature higher than 40-43°C. And no lags.
Mine lags specially if I set video to 4k. And also if im doing multi tasking.

My phone only gets little warm near RGBC/laser but thats it. G3 was almost all the time hot/red hot near/under power button. When i tried to snap some test photos and about 3 mins of 1080p video and 5-8min 4K it got warmer but nothing more, after shutting camrea apk down i got a warning that the device is hot and camera wont be avaliable for a while. When charging it gets warm but that is normal. There is no lag or stutter, maybe when you played some graphically advanced games NOVA,RR3, simcity when you power down after unlocking ther is a half second lag before a animation/start screen kicks in and thats all, interface runs preety smoothly
sony xz is so ****. it lags like a mother ****er and over heats. cant send 4 snaps with out it having a fit. Then once it starts i cant record a snap it just jips and zips about. i dont understand y its doing this. its a brand new 500 quid phone.. it shouldnt be doing this 3 months into buying this ****
