OL1 root - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Hey all,
New to the S6 Edge. What root methods are currently available for this thing? I'm on OL1 and am not too concerned about tripping Knox, but if it could be avoided that's fine by me.

You can root using modified stock kernels with built in SuperSu. This one is most updated:

It's in Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 forums (search xda)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/development/kernel-unikernel-v5-t3166295
Also in that forum I just noticed A thread about Chain fire Auto Root working probably easier.

So, I'm kind of new to this, i have the 925p, do i just download the latest kernel and that's it? I'm sorry for asking a stupid question, but I want to make sure i got it right b4 i do it

Unroot, upgrade with Smart Switch, reroot when able to on 5.1.1.

custom recovery S6 Edge
i have sprint galaxy s6 edge with custom rom rooted and custom twrp recovery there is a download for s6 for twrp and it works i have sac rom installed working just fine no crashes had it for over 2 wks w/ V3
Custom recovery....
I'm not too concerned regarding a custom recovery right now. I'm definitely going to update and root 5.1.1 though!
Works great!
I installed the OF7 tar over my rooted 5.0.2 and got 5.1.1 unrooted without losing my settings/files. Then I employed this rooting method and it worked like a charm. Thanks!
Should we expect a version that won't trip Knox?

Custom Recovery
I have seen conflicting answers to my question. If I install the 5.1.1 update as in the post and I already have TWRP Recovery installed will I lose it or will it stay?

You will lose root and twrp. You will be able to reroot, but no TWRP is available yet
Private mode....
When using this root method, I can't seem to enable Private Mode. When I go to turn it on, it says 'Failed to enable Private Mode'. Anybody have any ideas as to why this happens? I can flash back to the stock kernel (which unroots), then it works fine again.
Private mode...
Private mode doesn't work on the OF7 or OFE after root. Any ideas on how to fix this issue folks? I also have the night clock issue as well. I never tested it on the unrooted OFE, so I don't know if it is just a root bug or something.

Line removal from kernel
I'm going to try the V5 Kernel now, but I haven't removed any lines from my previous ones either and haven't had any issues. I'm still a little hazy on why we need too, but I'm going to look at the thread regarding it tonight.

How Do I Root Samsung S7 from Tmobile USA?

Whats the best way to root a Galaxy J7 from tmobile USA, model SM-J700T?
I thought I would have this j7 rooted already myself.
Ran into fastboot issues like in the V10 forums after mm update. Seems fastboot oem unlock is disabled yet you can click to unlock in developers? Kinda of pisses me off about that. Everyone blamed LG for that but now I see a 2nd T-Mobile phone with same issue.

Yeah the J7 is good for the price without all the bells and whistles. I am seriously thinking of returning it for a refund and getting a Note 5.
I can understand that. I didn't get a note partly because since i want to remove as much samsung software as possible, it makes the s-pen almost unusable therefore a waste of the extra money. Also, i am little impressed with this device for the money. Had it been only 1-1 1/2 gig of ram like the other models I'd pass on it.

The only reason I"m returning this phone is because it lacks an LED notification light. If it had it I would really keep it.

Root and more on J7 Star for Tmobile (SM-J737T)?

Does anyone know anything useful on rooting a J7 Star (SM-J737T) from Tmobile? How about for getting a builds of TWRP and LineageOS for it?
Following this thread. I'm very interested on the information you seek.
I just spoke to one of the top contributors to TWRP that did the Galaxy a8 and he may do the j737. I'm sure if we donate it will give him more of an incentive !

Try building a cf autoroot file for your device and flash it. Make sure frp is disabled. If it fails to flash the bootloader is locked just saying but if it does flash your good. That is always the first test you should do before going for custom roms and recoveries. Update: this phone is so new that it isn't listed on firmware.mobi
