Sprint MSL - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

Just an FYI, when you activate your new device (In my case a Note 5), Sprint will send an email regarding the activation. On this email, the phone number, model, DEC, SIM serial, and color are listed. Under these items is an activation code.
That is your MSL.
Might save some of you from calling or chatting with customer service.

Cool

I cannot seem to find it. Can you post a screenshot please?

I can verify that this is correct. I have the email and a sprint chat log and the activation code is the same as MSL code.
Just in case anyone was wondering....

I was given the run around about getting my msl even though i paid full price for an unlocked brand new note 5 because i was not the person who original bought it on the line it was only linked to when it was first paid for even though it was then removed from thar account

Bestbuy didnt give me the right code it tells me invaild

Bought 1 today, don't see it

I wonder if you activated your old phone on your account online than re activate your note 5 if sprint sends a confirming email with the msl?

When activating a phone online you get the msl on the activation screen and also sent to the email on the account. So yes to your question.

I got mine at Best Buy. There is an activation code on the paperwork but it definitely is not accepted as the MSL Code and I received no email from Sprint...probably because I got it at BB.

Just as an FYI
Just upgraded my wife's phone from the lg g2 to the note 5 today. I got an email with 2 attachments, but neither of them shows an "activation code". My email has a section called New Device Details which has the following:
Line: phone number
Device: description of phone
ESN: ESN number
ICC/SIM ID: sim card serial number
I tried to reactivate the G2 on the website and it said it can't be swapped to at this time.. I guess I'm stuck with trying to get the msl/activation number through sprint chat..
Edit: partial transcript from my chat with customer support.. Cheryl was very helpful in providing my IMIE numbers for both phones, and then gave me the MSL with no problems.. I just told her I was an information hoarder and liked to have this type of info on hand in case I needed it..
You : One other thing, somebody mentioned something about a msl number. Do you know what that is for my phone?
Cheryl S : Yes that is Mobile Subscriber Lock and that is required for Unlocking the phone and its not needed for normal day to day functioning of the phone.
You : Could you provide me with that number also please?
Cheryl S : Its XXXXXX
You : Ok, thank you very much!

[Q] Using AT&T with the Nexus S GT-i9020T?

Using AT&T with the Nexus S GT-i9020T?
Has anyone successfully done this?
I bought this model of the Nexus S recently, and have been really enthusiastic about the build quality of the device. However, actually setting up phone service has presented a few challenges.
I have found nothing but conflicting information about this all over the internet. The official Nexus S manual spec sheet seems to imply that the phone can play either the tri-band or the quad-band game. Some folks report that the phone will work with AT&T but will only allow you to use EDGE and not 3G service. There are websites which say that the phone can be unlocked, however, many posters here on the xda-developers forum say that the phone is always unlocked anyway.
I bought both a T-mobile simcard and an AT&T simcard. The T-mobile one works just great. After inserting the AT&T card, the phone sees the local AT&T cell tower, but when trying to connect, it says "Your sim card does not allow a connection on this network."
I took the phone into an AT&T store this afternoon and the customer service rep replaced my sim card - but the phone acted just the same. He told me that the phone was probably carrier locked - and that I could look for a shop to help me unlock it.
So what can be done? Will T-mobile give me an unlock code? Do I need to buy an unlocking code from some vendor on the internet? I am familiar enough with Linux to edit files on the phone using a hex editor if there's a way to unlock it that way (I read about this method in a conversation on xda-developers.com pertaining to the Galaxy S I9000).
Not sure about unlocking, but I do know the 9020t will only do voice and Edge on At&t.

Hardware is not capable of ATT 3G but all nexus devices should already be sim unlocked. Idk why you're experiencing that issue.
I really doubt the att Rep has any knowledge on the tmo nexus s, but I'm really suspecting att's similar card as the culprit, despite the fact that u replaced it.
Sorry I couldn't be of much help.

So... An update on the progress of my quest:
I called T-mobile today (on the phone: "611") where a customer service person tried and failed to authorize the unlock code. She then gave me a service number at Samsung to call: (888) 987 4357. Samsung took the information from me about the cell's phone number and the carrier... and after a bit, bounced me back, saying that I needed to call T-mobile again to see whether I could get them to issue the 8 digit "network control code" which can be derived from the IMEI number.
This time, the T-mobile rep said that she would submit a formal request for me that might take between two days and two weeks to process. She warned me that because I had not had the T-mobile account for 60 days there might be a problem with the approval - but that they might be able to do it, if I offered proof of purchase for the phone (proving that I paid full price for it). She took my email address, my landline number and some other bits of information from me, and promised I'd hear back in a few days.
For those who are interested in all the gory details... here's an update on the hoops I've been trying to jump through:

"Dear Customer,
Sorry I have been unable to generate the correct unlock code for your mobile. There are so many mobile out there sometimes the firmware on certain versions mean I cant generate the code.
I have sent your details over the accounts team who will send you a refund. Although normally quicker please allow up to 7 days for the refund to get back into your account.
Once again I apologise for not being able to get the correct code for your mobile. Your only option may be your network operator or a local shop who can unlock via a cable.

Don't post your MEID or IMEI publicly, people can do all sorts of nasty things like report your phone stolen with that information.
help me ........
So you got the refund from TheUnlockShack.com?
Since most of them can give money back if they cannot find your code. You can try another unlock website or find on eBay. I got my code from an eBay seller.
Did you make sure you gave the correct IMEI, not MEID?
You can obtain your IMEI number by pressing *#06# on your mobile phone. Try it.
Note: that will only show the IMEI if the phone is in GSM mode. Maybe in Global mode too, but definitely not in CDMA mode.
IMEI is available under Settings, About phone, Status.

Please show me a link.
I called and asked for my unlock code. A nice rep took a while to find the info to tell me. He said with less than one year left on my contract, I could get an unlock code. I have more than a year left. Also I have heard they are legaly required to give you an unlock code when your contract does expire.
SIM Unlock Code
If you had the phone for over 6 months, you can request for the SIM unlock code. The reps will tell you they don't have the code, and give you the run around that it's not available. Not true. Ask to speak to a supervisor, and ask him/her to put in a case (ticket number) to request for a SIM Unlock code based on your IMEI number. Once they do that, you'll have to wait about 4 days for the code to arrive. I got mine on June 27, 4 days after I requested it. I had my phone since Oct/Nov 2011. Good luck!

you can get an unlock code or unlock it via cable via SRS software.
We have been doing this since 2006.
link is: http://www.unlocksamsungonline.com/unlocksamsung/I727
Note that if you have flashed custom roms this might cause problems for unlocking so first unlock then flash a custom rom. If you want to unlock after flashing a custom rom, flash back to original first!
Providers are often behind with their databases with unlock codes and also they are never able to provide unfreeze codes as they simply do not have them.
AT&T Skyrocket SIM Unlock
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Communications Commission. I also e-mailed the president of AT&T. Today is the third day after the BBB complaint. Someone from the office of the president called me today in regards to my BBB complaint. She gave me the SIM unlock code for my Skyrocket. The presidents e-mail addresses are [email protected] and [email protected]. Good Luck!
Check this out bro. Works and I tested it. It works

There is an easy way. Search google for "Unlock samsung phone" and pick one of the websites that offer an unlock code for $10 to $15. You give them the IMEI number, pay and they send you a code. I got mine in about 8 hours. Then you just boot with a working SIM card from another provider and it asks you for a code which you enter. Done.
There also e-bay listings for same service, - I haven't tried that.
Also, depending on your provider, you just might need to call them and they will give it to you.
For instance, my contract with AT&T expired and I called to unlock my Motorola RAZR. It took them about 3 weeks, but they did gave me a code for free.
Now, I am on T-Mobile. I own my phone from day one. So, according to T-mobile, all I need to do is call them after being with them for three months and they will send me a code for free.
I didn't care to wait, so I just purchased the code anyway.

Will N5 work on ATT?

I heard that it is not "officially supported" on ATT. Will I be able to get an ATT prepaid SIM card and use it on N5 in the US?
It should work with ATT.
I've basically asked the same thing here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2508100
Im trying to understand what IMEI number to give them when I sign up. Will they take the Nexus number or do I need to visit a store and "find" an IMEI from an ATT LTE phone?

Any reason why you'd even want to give them an IMEI number? I haven't given AT&T any numbers for this Z1 I'm on and it's working perfectly. If you mean for a new activation, you may not need to give them one. I'll get in touch with a friend to see what's needed.

The Nexus 5 is fully compatible with all the ATT frequencies. I don't think there should be anything to worry about as far as the IMEI goes, there is no reason the IMEI number on the label of your Nexus 5 box shouldn't work.
The only time you should have to worry about the IMEI is when you're buying a used phone off of cragslist or ebay, because if someone stole the phone or defaulted on their account, the IMEI can be blacklisted by the service provider.

You can't "find" an IMEI number. Their unique to each phone. You can spoof them but it's not legal or ethical. It's also not something an average user is even going to be able to understand. Use the one from the N5. It will work fine.
