LGG3 Root Question: tethering issue - General Questions and Answers

New to this forum and new to Android root. I'm excited to get started!
I'm on an LGG3 850 and running Lollipop 5.0.1.
I've followed the root instructions, when I power off the phone, hold down the up-volume and plug in the USB, I get to the Firmware screen. I then use Command Window to insert command string and all looks good, but they don't actually install on phone. I think it's because every time I unplug USB and plug back in USB tethering is off and has to be on for phone to connect to computer. USB Debugging is on. Any suggestion to keep USB tethering ON as the default?
Thanks for helping me!!!
Steve

You don't need USB tethering for adb the problem is probably with USB debugging. Had the same problem with my Lenovo A6000 and I don't have a solution for this but an alternative method. First install kingroot to root your phone and install flashify for flashing custom recovery

Hi I can't find anything relevant to your device so here's a couple options.
1. Get your device repaired
2. Register and ask your question here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2259645
Good luck

G920F, USB MTP, FASTBOOT not working anymore.

Hi all,
So I have a strange problem, a while back I discovered that I can't connect my S6 to my computer and or other computers, whatever usb cable I use the device is not detected at all. and only charging works.
I already tried more USB cables and validated they work with other devices, I also discovered the USB is not detected in fastboot mode, so I can't flash any images anymore over USB.
I also discovered that I might have flashed a wrong stock rom a few months back and I never tried to connect it to the USB in the meanwhile, when I trace the baseband version it says it's Asian..:crying: And this device is a dutch PHN. The device has ADB working over WIFI and root enabled, it also has TWRP installed and even there MTP is not working!
However i'm afraid there is no way I can flash a stock rom back to the device without a working fastboot, unless there are flashable zips.
What do you guys think?
- MTP does not work
- Fastboot works but USB is not detected (odin, device manager etc).. with all kinds of cables.
- ADB Shell + Root Works (Only over wifi)
- I got a full backup of all partitons, created it with TWRP.
- It's stull running android 5.1.1
Best Regards,
Toetje

I can´t belive it, someone who has the same problem then me. A little wierd is that I got 2 phones here.... Got my S6 which I´m using atm and some days ago a friend gave me a A5. Actually the A5 has exactly the same problem and one more problem is, that the "Home Button" of the phone is not working. No chance to root it at all.
It was like this.... I came back home with the A5 and first I thought about was rooting it. Restarted and tryed to go into "Recovery Mode" which wasn´t working, same as going into "Download Mode". So my first thought was that some of the buttons arn´t working. I was right, it was the home button which is without any function. My next idea was rooting over Laptop with Odin. Enabled USB Debbuging, connected a data cable..... and usb connection was not working... only charging!
After like a minute of trying and no success I wen´t eat first. When I came back i tryed again and USB Debbuging asked me to accept the Laptop. (Till now I didn´t thought about that it could be my first and my last time I will have a working USB connection.)
I wen´t into "Recovery Mode" thought about restarting cuz I wanted to go into "Download Mode". So I restarted and that was FATAL.... since then I had no chance anymore till yet to get a working USB connection. No matter which PC, Laptop, USB / Data-Cabel. And since the "Home Button" is not working, I don´t even know how to get Root.
Right now I´m asking myself if it could be a Firmware related problem?! I mean, when my friend gave me the phone there wasn´t the newest update installed on it so I just updated it. It´s a A500FU running stock Android 6.0.1 newest DBT Firmware..... and also I´m not able to change it without having a working USB connection.
Greets!

I ordered a new USB port board, will let you know the results!
Any results after changing the usb port?
Did fast charge still work for you? And this replacing the USB port work? I think this is related to a broken USB ic. For me replacing the USB port didn't help
Sometimes it's a bad charging port and / or liquid damage to the charging port.
If your home button clicks but does not work it could be liquid damage near the home button. Same goes for power and volume buttons.
I just fixed a S6 edge plus yesterday power button not working, liquid damage all around power button area, fixed burnt components and corroded pins.

authorize USB - Debugging with broken Screen&Touch

Hi together,
my touchscreen&display are broken. Now i wanted to clone my screen to my laptop by ApowerMirror. The app can install the Phone-Client via ADB. USB-Debugging was enabled on my Mate 7, but my Laptop isnt Authorized.
HiSuite also tells me, that i have to press the authorize-button on the phone.
CWM Recovery is already installed, but i dont want to boot in the recovery, because there is no way back in the ROM until i have no screen and Touch(PhoneLock)
I wanted to try to press the button with a connected mouse, but when i unplug my Notebook the AuthorizePopUp will disappear.
BTW: I also tried to connect the Mate7 with a MHL-Cable with the TV...No funktion. Do your Phones support MHL?
just connect an otg mouse and keyboard... you know, get root by cwm, then use wifi control it instead of adb

Question Rooting W/O A Computer/Desktop

Hey,
I 100% NEED to Root MY Motorola G Stylus 5G ((2021)) , and it needs to be done without the use of a computer, and preferably without the need of $Payment$//Money...
I know that there are plenty of "FREE-2-DL" Ver. Of almost EVERY ROOTing Software, I just need to know what my best options are for my specific Phone, Make & Model.
Anyone help please???
Thank You!!
You have to use a computer. If no computer, you can use another android phone that's rooted and download termux, install adb-fastboot in termux, plug in the phones together using a female USB to USBC adapter, enable USB debugging, unlock bootloader, install TWRP, and flash magisk.zip
