Huawei P8max and SBH52 - Huawei P8max

Hello everyone!
Things go like this:
I just bought a P8max a week ago and I've been trying to make the SBH52 work properly with it since...
The story starts with me using the SBH52 with an LG G3, which worked absolutely perfect. When i paired it with the LG i just installed the Sony SBH52 app from google play and the Sony Connect app from google play. Nothing else was needed and everything worked absolutely perfect.
Now, on the P8max i did, at first, the same thing: installed the two apps from the google play market and paired the device, hoping to be able to use it just like before with the LG.
First i noticed that the phone wasn't pushing notifications anymore to the device, so it didn't notify me about the new messages and new calendar events. The phone call log was working fine and I could see the numbers and names of the people on the call log, and also call back and answer. I can also see the music playlist from the phone and play the music, skip songs and all that crap.
Since the notification pushing was not working, i downloaded from google play the extensions of the SBH52 software - sms extension, calendar etc. and tried with that, but nothing worked.
Next thing, I called Sony support and the only thing i was able to get out of that woman that answered the phone was that the device has Bluetooth 3.0 and the following bluetooth profiles:
· Handsfree profile (HFP) v1.6
· Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) v1.2
· Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) v1.4 – Control and Target role
And that I should try to contact Huawei to see if the phone is compatible or has the above profiles.
So that I did! Called Huawei support and they told me the A2DP came as standard with the phone, but they didn't know if the phone had the HFP and the AVRCP, and they'd call me back and tell me if the phone has them or if there was a possibility to install (?!) them on the phone.
So here I come to you and ask, to the profiles exist on the phone, is there a possibility to make my SBH52 work properly with the P8max?!
Also, I forgot to mention that the device disconnects often from the device and i have to unlock the device, start the SBH52 app (even if its running in the background) push the "call answer" button on the SBH52 and THEN it pairs again.
Help?!!
Thanks in advance,
Silvio

OK , I just purchased the international version and seem to have it working with the SBH52. Make sure the Sony apps are not blocked from remaing in memory in the protected section in settings. That's what solved for me.
Sent from my HUAWEI P8max using Tapatalk

Ok, did what you said, now it seems to keep the connection up. That one good thing, thank you for the advice.
The remaining problem of the notifications is not solved though. Does your SBH52 show notifications - new text messages and calendar reminders?
Thanks!

You might have to enable notifications access to the apps

htc and kenwood car stereo how to?

Hi, just bought a new car equipped with kenwood kbd bt6544u car stereo.
I succesfully connect my diamond with, but all my contacts doesn't remain on the radio after downloading and I have to resync everytime I switch off the radio, except for the quick call saved presets. I wonder if this is the normal behaviour or something is wrong. Can someone explain me how is the kenwood logic so maybe I understand how to use it properly? tks in advance brgds
hi,
I'm using my diamond with a kenwood KDC-BT8044U and I also need to sync every time but I think that this is normal... I've never seen a car stereo equipment which saves the contacts in a permanent storage... it doesn't need a lot of time and it works automatically, so...
regards
ps. If you get it work let me know how
Maybe there's a logic behind: if you connect with different phones you'll mess up all the contacts so maybe this way is better. Just this is not clear to me: when I get into the car the car bt connects but does anything, AFTER a phone call the contacts are downloaded (and sometimes hangs on downloading...). Is this also for you?
best regards

I have the KDC-BT8044U and I don't have this problem, as soon as it connects the contacts are automatically downloaded.
I have another problem, perhaps you can help me, the downloading from my HTC Touch HD WM 6.5 EnergyROM (14.06.09) takes extremely long for me (approx 5min30sec). I find it very annoying because during this time I can not make any calls.
How long does it take with your phones? I tried with a iPhone of my friends and it only took a few seconds.
Why is this taking so long for me with only 78 contacts?
Please help
well, I noticed that if I have the phone on (I mean screen on) when I connect, the download starts immediately, otherwise it starts after minutes and is extremely slow... Download time is about 60 secs, I had longer download time (also hangs) when I had a specific contact on my phonebook. After removing it problem solved... I found the "guilty" because activesync was unable to sync the specific contact. Hope it helps!
Hi, I also have a Touch HD and a bt-8044u. I can't seem to answer calls or dial calls from my head unit. Does anyone else have this problem?
My headunit also downloads each time it is connected!

yes I have the same problem, see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554785
go to this post, and tell what ROM you are exactly using, perhaps, if we are 2 we can get more help
I upgraded to BsB wm6.5 rom one week ago and since then all is smooth as silk: immediate connection, fast download, no more troubles!
I also use htc touch HD on BT8044U, but i can't sync sms, anyone can do this?

nope, it's not available for the touch hd
Touch Diamond & Kenwood DNX7240BT
Initially had problems with these, sorted now.
Upgraded bluetooth (from Kenwood's site) but didn't help.
Next I erased pictures attached to phonebook entries and deleted ALL call records (these things store thousands of calls made, received or missed.) Now, it only takes about 6 seconds to show the entire phonebook is present on screen.
Shame the SMS won't work, yet. maybe in the future.
Hi all,
I have been looking at buying this head unit, and it would be great if you could answer the following:
I listen to a lot of audio books and would like to know that if you are listening to a track and switch the radio off, does the radio remember the track you were last listening to AND the position within the track.
It would be very annoying if the system flipped to the beginning of the track everytime....
Also does the headunit support streaming via bluetooth I have a TYTN II.
Thanks in advance....
When listening to music on a cd, playback resumes from precisely where it was prior to switching the ignition off.
I've never tried an audio book though so can't comment, sorry.
Audio streaming works fine over bluetooth (A2DP,?)from my Diamond.
H.T.H.
same problem here:
touch hd (xt grid evo 1.7)
kenwood 8044u
after every HF Connect the download starts.
The download needs about 5min then...
I have 95 contacts with ~150 numbers in my contactlist
No pictures, and all numbers as +49 123 456789
is there anything to get the download faster?
thx
Yes.
Delete all call records (in, out and missed) and text messages.
Mine had over two years worth of records at one time !
Whichever tweaking programme you use, set up a maximum list of 10 calls missed, made and received. This will prevent the list building up again. (I use 'Advanced Config' on my Diamond for this.)
H.T.H.
that's it
just deleted the history and then download nedds about 15sec now
Thx!
Is there an registry entry to set the number of saved entries?
I wish to diasble that at all for privacy reasons...
You're welcome, glad it worked for you.
Although there will be a way to limit the entries in the registry, I don't know it, sorry. If you download 'Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool' (available in this forum), it can do that and loads of other useful settings too.
I also set my phone to display only its internal phone book and not the sim contacts, which halves the number transferred to the Kenwood. This was also done from within the 'Advanced Config.' tool.
For best results, alter the number of entries for SMS messages, too. (again dead easy with the 'Advanced Config.' tool.)
My TD2 connects, syncs, but I can't hang up or establish a call by myself. Answering calls works fine using the control knob. Any suggestions?
HoPi,
I don't think your phone is supported, yet.
See, http://www.kenwood.com/cs/ce/bt/index.php for a compatibility list.
Keep an eye out for updates. When I first bought my headunit, there were 3 downloadable updates within the first few weeks.
HTH
Whoops, haven't seen that list. I just checked the local (german) version which only offers a PDF file (with 2 HTC devices mentioned). Seems like I can be glad that the phone works half-way. Thanks!

[Q] Kenwood KDC-BT50U

Hi all,
I just bought the Kenwood KDC-BT50U for my car. I plan to use it with my HTC Desire via Bluetooth, mainly to play my mp3s. It paired and plays mp3s just fine, but it does not show the track names on the device and I cant skip tracks. It also does not sync my contact names from the phonebook, except for the call history.
Did anyone get it to work, and if yes with which firmware? the kenwood website sucks and they do not list the htc desire on their firmware update pages..so I have no idea which one to get...any help would be great!
I've got a BT60U and a Desire and it works all fine - it didnt in the beginning though.
My problems were that there was no adressbook sync and that I got random disconnects while driving.
But at some point it just started working. I remember that it was around when I started rooting (the first hacked 2.2 on the Desire) and then later the first AOSP roms. Dont know what made the deal for me but might be a hint.
At some point I also did a complete reset of the headunit.
I know it is a bit vague but I'm running fine with the BT60U (which got the same BT kit as yours) and my rooted Desire running DeFrost 6.1 (but also with OpenDesire and MIUI, don't know about Sense Roms though)
EDIT: forgot to mention: It is normal that the head unit doesn't show track titles etc but the forward/play/pause keys should be working...
What you can try is that you delete your phone from the BT50U's Bluetooth menu (at least mine got an option saying 'Delete BT Device') and deleting your Kenwood on your phone to start it from scratch again.
Hi.
Which number firmware of bluetooth unit is it?
I had the V 3.11.0 but the last is the V 3.12.0: this add the only forward/play/pause keys but doesn't show the track titles (in fact the A2DP protocol doesn't support this).
To upgrade it: manual, software, firmware (or go here and select "HTC Tattoo").
It's very simple to upgrade but, if you can wait, during this week I'm uploading a video about it: I did it last weekend.
Unfortunately, this last firmware doesn't resolve any problems like doesn't sync contact names from the phonebook neither the call history.
Moreover I can't use the "red button" because it kills the app "phone" so I have to reboot or enter again my PIN code.
I have a Wildfire with Froyo 2.2.1 stock.
Bye.
! !
Ps.: my unit has some problems so I have to bring it at assistance.
It's normal that there is always the "FAV" icon at top right of the display?
Thank you.
The protocol for track names is AVCRP rather than A2DP, but unfortunately the result is the same, the bluetooth stack in Android does not appear to be 1.4, rather 1.3 which doesn't have the feature.
Do you have an import via bluetooth option on your Kenwood. At first my JVC wouldn't sync and I just had to export the cantact list and then use a bluetooth transfer app to transmit it across manually. One day it just started working as mentioned above.
@400ixl: there is an automatic sync of all datas every time that the phone connects to the Kenwood radio but with Android it doesn't work, unfortunately.
I hope there will be an another Bluetooth firmware upgrade.
Thank you.
Bye.
! !
I uploaded a short video about the upgrade.
If you would like see it, I'll write the link.

thanks very much

Really weird bluetooth behavior since 6.0 upgrade

So I'm not sure if this is an issue in the Doggcatcher app or not. So here's my setup and details.
Nexus 5 completely stock 6.0. Phone has never been rooted, bought new from Play store. Bootloader is locked.
I am using an LG HBS-730 bluetooth stereo headset
I have 2 numbers on this phone, one is the carrier number (T-Mobile), the other is a Google Voice number that is managed by the most recent version of Hangouts with the Hangouts dialer.
Twice today, I have been listening to a podcast using the Doggcatcher app when an incoming call from my Google Voice number happens through Hangouts. The Doggcatcher app will pause, I will push the call answer button on the headset, and the phone call will begin but the podcast will resume playback at the same time. I can pause the podcast via the app controls on the phone and the call will continue as normal. The caller can hear the podcast as well.
Not sure if it's the app or the OS/bluetooth causing this but it's really confusing. I reported the issue with the developers of the Doggcatcher app, but I haven't posted it to Google yet.
Any ideas?

I have a slightly different problem with bluetooth, after update to 6.0 on my nexus 5 (stock) my polar running watch can't sync with the companion app. I can see the watch listed on blue tooth settings but when i click pair nothing happens.. Not sure if it's an app of OS /bluetooth issue.
I have an even more weird situation.
Ever since I updated my nexus 5 to android M, I started to experience google now voice input on android wear showing frequent disconnected in car, and I am streaming music at the same time.
Weird thing is this behavior only happens in car. If I try the voice input without phone BT connected to my car, everything is fast and fine.
I'm not sure what triggered this and I have done several experiments already.
- Even if I pause streaming music to car BT, Google now voice input on wear still shows disconnected in car.
- Weird thing is I can still use Google translate voice input on wear, while streaming music to car BT.
- My wear on Google now used to be able to recognize chinese (I think it's because I add chinese in google now setting on my phone). Now it only recognize english while google now on my phone takes chinese/english mixed. I set english as primary language and chinese as secondary on phone google now. In Google translate wear app, I can speak both english and chinese.
- I have reset/ connect/ disconnect wear multiple times. End result is still the same. Google now voice input on wear shows disconnected in car.
- Add Android Wear app to ignore list of battery optimization seems to make no difference.
Hmmm....strange stuff indeed. Hopefully someone smarter than myself can take a look at the issues. I know that I never had this problem on the final version of 5.1.1.

I solve my syncing issue between my watch and nexus 5 , it turns out i have to have my location service on along with bluetooth.
Source:
"If you are running OS 6.0 (Marshmallow), please note that Google has changed the permissions required for Bluetooth syncing. You must turn on location services to sync your tracker (Settings > Location). For more information about the latest Google permission requirements, see Google's Android 6.0 Changes document. "

Can't get podcasts working with native music app

I've had my unlocked Sony Xperia Z5 for about a month now, and I'm quite happy with it. I decided to root it after I found out the bootloader was unlockable, and that was mostly just so I could run a handful of apps that need it like f.lux or AdAway. I was able to root without my phone having to factory reset or anything, too; I didn't have to sign in with my Google account or anything again. I've also had zero problems with the supposed DRM on the phone, and the audio features all seem to work just fine. I am running Marshmallow with otherwise no problems as well.
However, one thing continues to elude me, and I've yet to find a single answer to it for several weeks. When I use the Music app, I can bring out the sidebar and scroll down to a setting that says "Podcast". I originally tried it out a few months ago on an Xperia C4 at a local store on display, and I was able to search up podcasts I normally listen to. When I got my hands on my Z5, I wanted to use that feature and add some podcasts in there. That way, I could have the music app handle podcasts instead of me having to use a separate app.
Now here's where my problem comes in. Whenever I open up the podcast option, the same thing always happens. Every single time. I'll click "Podcast" on the sidebar in the Music app, I'll see the "No items" screen telling me to tap the Plus icon on the top-right corner to add a podcast, I tap the Plus icon, and I'm immediately greeted with "No network connection. Make sure your device is connected to a network." Clicking retry does nothing. It's like the app just doesn't seem to think I'm ever connected when my connection works fine on just about any other app on my phone.
I've yet to find a solution on my own. Searching online turns up nothing, as if the problem is only happening to me or is too obscure. I've tried so many fixes on my own. Tried clearing the data on the Music app, tried clearing the data and following with a reboot, tried connecting to different networks, tried toggling my WiFi and LTE, tried just about everything I can think of. I'm stumped.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong at this point. I'm on rooted Marshmallow with an E6603 model Xperia Z5. Any suggestions on what to do from here, or am I stuck with a broken feature on the Music app? Granted I could live without this feature, but I would very much like to consolidate my podcasts and music into a single app.
Unfortunately, the podcasts won't work properly without root too. I just went back to test this, the issue that made me stop using it is still there: while scrolling the podcasts list by category, the list of items would occasionally skip very fast 2 or 3 pages below or above. I'm using podcasts in GPM now. That, too is a bit underdeveloped right now, hopefully Google will improve on it.

I have the same problem with "No network connection" on my Sony Z5 compact on Marshmallow 6.0.1 but it was the same on 6.0 and 5.1.1 so I assume it's Sony's music app fault. Anyone found a solution yet?

Try the app - "Genus beat" for music as well as podcasts
I find the native music player and podcast rather bad to be honest. I much prefer third party app combinations such as Onyx and Pocketcasts

Unbelievable. Oneplus claims that a bug is now a feature.

Here, check this out.
Me:
When two BT devices capable of telephony functions are connected, the second one connects as "Connected (no phone)", and its telephony function cannot be used.
Example (picture attached). If Huawei Watch is already connected, when Jabra Talk attempts to connect, it will connect as described above, and one cannot make or receive phone calls on Jabra Talk (but still can on the watch.)
Oneplus support:
Thank you for taking the time to send us this email as well as the screenshot that you provided. I understand that you want to use both of the Bluetooth devices for easy access and getting in touch with loved ones for helping us keep on track with our daily activities.
I would like to inform you that the OnePlus 6 can actually connect to two Bluetooth devices. However, by default, you can only choose one for making and receiving calls. Just choose which you preferred to use by toggling the "Phone calls" under each setting of the Bluetooth devices.
This bug was not present in 5.1.5. They introduced it in 5.1.6/7.
This bug is present in all Pixel phones because it's a buggy Google code that Google simply does not care to fix.
Samsung fixed this in their phones.
So, I am guessing OP had this fixed in 5.1.5, but then they just lazily copied and pasted that Google garbage code.
And they don't know how to fix it now. So now it's a freaking feature.
UNBELIEVABLE!
I have the same problem with my Huawei Watch and my cars hands free system
I tried to disconnect the watch with Tasker as soon as my hands free system connects, but it never worked reliable (because the watch connects again immediately and takes over the call functionality)
I guess we need to wait until we get Android Pie because as far as I know this problem is solved with Android Pie

I hope so. But I'm not that hopeful - I think it's a Google bug, and they simply don't care to fix it.
Meanwhile, I have to disable the phone functionality on the Watch so I can use my hands free car kit.
It's so disappointing, especially since this stuff always worked with Samsung phones, OOS 5.1.5 (the bug was introduced in 5.1.6/7) and even the early Pixel, pre Android 7.0.2.

I disabled the phone functionality too
I had a Samsung phone before as well (Note 8) and with that I had no problems with my hands free kit but instead the smartwatch lost the phone functionality after a few hours so I always had to reconnect it (basically the same problem but the other way round)... it's very frustrating that such a pretty basic thing doesn't work properly
I also tried this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.myklos.btautoconnect

I had a Pixel XL for over a year. Only kept it for Project FI. Bug ridden POS.
Sold it for half going price just so I could feel clean again.
Even if Samsung *used* to have sluggish Touchwiz in the past, at least it didn't have deal breaking bugs.
Don't even have to make my own code - some XDA roms had fixed this bug, as opposed to Google.

I am almost positive that if you had a somewhat similar problem on a Note 8, it's probably Google's fault.
I don't really use the 2 BT phone functionality for more than 30 min on average, but I've never had any problems on Note 7, GS6 or GS9, or even on a Pixel pre 7.0.2 android, when this bug was first introduced.
After 7.0.2, bluetooth stuff just broke everywhere. This bug, constant disconnects and reconnects, for some people music skips, for some doesn't even work, BT UI in Settings just crashing etc.
It's like Google replaced their BT programmer with a monkey at that point, or even a monkey's nephew.
So just because you cannot use 2 Bluetooth devices simultaneously to make phone calls, it's a deal breaker??? Lmao please please please go back to Samsung so we don't have to hear the whining anymore. Good luck with those bootloaders
