Are There AOSP roms for xperia range available? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
This is more of a general question, but this is as good place as any I guess.
I'm pretty much set on buying the Xperia z6 when it arrives and I'm curious whether there are AOSP roms usually available for The main xperia Z phones. I've heard Sony is pretty good to developers community so I was just wondering.

[Q] Xperia S vs. Xperia ion, help needed

Hi all
I was thinking about getting a Samsung Galaxy S II(the i9100 variant) but I found about the new Xperia S and the Xperia ion.
I've set my mind to the Xperia ion but I couldn't find an official release date for it(I've seen 30 March in some places but I don't think thats gonna happen)
Unless Samsung announces the Galaxy S 3 (or whatever its gonna be called) I'll be getting one of the Xperias. The differences between the S and the ion are not so big, so my question is, should i wait for the ion to come out or should I just get the S.
Any opinion will be appreciated.
BTW I'm currently in the US, so i need a North American release date/links etc.
Ion released is due to Q2.The Xperia S isn't already on official stores yet (I think, such as Amazon, Best Buy, Sony Style, etc). But you can get it on eBay.
Personally, I am not from US, so... But I like S more, due the screen size fit my small hands and the design, in my opinion is way more beautiful. But, in the end, it's up to you.

My Dad has and Xperia S and I know a few people with a SGSII, In my opinion the Xperia S is Just as quick if not faster, and has a great screen and camera... Just wait until the ROMS are released and It'll fly.

It's good to hear from people who actually used the phone, I was going to place an order for the Xperia S, i just didn't want to regret that after ion comes out. And if its as quick as the S II, its good for me. I'll probably go with the Xperia S if they don't announce an exact release date for the ion soon.
This topic can be closed/locked now, I placed an order on a Xperia S.

Good choise choosing Xperia S over GSII. I am an Xperia fan and currently using Arc S and it's really fast especially with customs ROMs and tweaks, I am waiting for the release of Ion to buy it. it's simply beautifull and stylish. Xperia UIs are great.

[Q] Sony vs HTC

Hey
I am looking to get either the sony xperia z2 or the HTC one m8. But the fact that the z2 has just been recently announced and that the the dev community has been up and running yet. I was wondering which one has a better dev community. I have been out of the xda for quite a while that I cant find out which has the best dev community.
Regards
Aman
HTC's are great devices. Charp, elegant and very durable. And as for Xperia devices, they're very premium look sharp and offer great durability.
For development, I've noticed the Xperia has been getting lots of support. I also have a feeling it'll keep getting ota updates when Sony prepares them, since it is a recently released device.
The HTC M8 is great, the development community is good too. Just take a look at their sub forms to make out the development.
But if you wish to remain stock or have a stock like experience with good features. I would go for HTC since Sense 6 looks amazing. TimeScape UI is Sony's way if making things look right. But it isn't as great as Sense. But if you wish to run original developed ROMs then you must go for the Xperia Z2.
They're both great devices, but its your choice.

Experia Z2 vs. OnePlusOne

Ok so I made this thread just to get feed back and basically advice as to which phone I should get. I currently have an iphone 5s and having it was cool and everything but I def. miss the android side of things (not sure why iphones are so much more popular either honestly) and was thinking on getting the Z2 or the one plus. However I've been told that experia devices are a little tougher to root and flash custom roms on. Also Im not sure as to how much support experia devices would have as far as roms kernels and such. What do you guys think?
I'd go onePlus One. MUCH cheaper, stronger raw specs and CM 11s. Can't go wrong with that.
First of all , It is Xperia not Experia
And you should probably get the Xperia Z2
I am not saying that the Xperia Z2 is better but it is because The OnePlus One is only available through an invite system. This means that only people who received an invitation from one of their friends or from OnePlus will be able to buy the device. After buying the device, you will receive a number of invitations that you can send to friends interested in the OnePlus One.
Plus I think accessories and maintenance for the Xperia Z2 will always be much easier to find. so yup Go for the Xperia Z2.

Which ROM are you running?

The Z3 community seems to be spoilt for choice with a large number of official ROMS for the device. (surely more than any other phone. Coming from G2, it's amazing to see how Sony have managed to keep so many of the xda community on stock roms! )
Which one are you using?
I'm on the Concept Edition. The thread about this isn't as active as others in the General forum, but for me it's the perfect mixture balance between the official Marshmallow rom (not close enough to stock for me) and the Android N preview (tried preview 2, too many bugs at that stage).
No complaints about Concept really, it would be nice if it was a bit more customization like CM13 on other phones, but I'll be sticking with this ROM, hopefully Sony continue to update it.

to be honest, the Z3 community is far behind the community and effort the Galaxy S3 i9300 had.
Stock roms, stock based roms, official concept... all sony software.
i bought my Z3 mainly for the (fake) claimed "openness".
Z3 vs I9300 is a huge hardware improvement
software side, Sony has stable updates.
Modding side, Z3 is almost dead
Edit: my current ROM is the RXSW Marshmallow Edition 3.0.0

Sony's removing the "Xperia Themes" support from XZ3

Don't you guys feel Sony is slowly but gradually losing their identity?

I agree. They have stopped development on both the Xperia Home and Xperia Weather apps with only maintenance updates and now themes are discontinued on new devices. Sony had a nice balance of stock and skinned android experience but now it's leaning towards more of a stock experience. I hope something is coming in the pipeline development wise that differentiates them from the competitors. I have been a Sony/Sony Ericsson user for twelve years and in that time we've lost many original Sony experiences.
