Reactivaton Lock Bypass - Samsung Gear S2

has anyone figured out how to bypass the reactivation lock code yet? i purchased an open box gear s2 and there isnt another in stock.

If you purchased your open box S2 at Best Buy, the Samsung Reps in the store should know how to do this. I bought an open box S2 at BB and had a discussion with the Sammy Rep that was in the store. He said that after the first week of selling the S2 this problem was realized (people were locking and returning their Gears) and that Sammy had sent instructions to their reps on what to do.

I have been in contact with samsung support and they said that they can't do anything, that my support has to come from BB. The problem is that my 15 warranty days have already passed. Any suggestion?

Go to the BB and talk to the Samsung Reps (if your BB has a Samsung display area, my local BB has a large area full of Samsung displays and actual Samsung Reps that work in it). I wouldn't worry about the 15 days, just go to BB and see what they can do. Tell them it was a present and you just opened it. They really don't want you to go away mad. They want you to be a return customer especially if you are buying $300 items.
Good Luck

GPS Update Bricked, called in, what now?

So I have one of the bricked phones post GPS update. I went to the store, the guy I talked to thought I was an idiot and it just needed a charge, which it didn't, and then referred me to the AT&T Device Support Center. So I called that number which then transferred me to the AT&T Android Specialist Team who then said that Samsung has a fix (which got my hopes up) and redirected me to Samsung. The Samsung rep was clueless and then transferred me to the Tier 2 Galaxy S CS Department and this lady said that Samsung has no responsibility for the update bricking my phone and that any official update will be on the Sumsung website and that this is AT&T's problem. She then went to say I can either go back and talk to AT&T or have send in my phone to Samsung and have them reflash it. I'm past my 30 days to return the phone and wondering what I should do at this point. Any suggestions would be great.
(oh and one of the reps kept asking if it was the 2.2 update bricking my phone...which I'm guessing implies that froyo is out? or she's a total moron)
Update: Called ATT warranty center again and got them to send me another phone. Reconditioned w/o back case or battery (is that normal?) and the guy was nice enough to waive me priority shipping. Name was John Perez sounded Indian, but he wasn't too bad. Supposedly the phone will have the GPS fix pre-installed on it from my understanding of what John said. Will continuing update how the phone turns out if anybody is curious

Go to an ATT store or call ATT support and threaten to cancel if they don't give you a new phone on the spot. ATT seriously screwed up and I think that by now, they realize it.
Hey, you posted while I was updating but that's what I did.
Yes, a refurbished unit usually comes with no battery sim or battery cover.
I keep hearing that samsung is telling folks to not take the ota update. How are we supposed to update? Kies is not released for the usa.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Can someone tell me what Kies and OTA are?
According to the Samsung rep I talked to, the only official updates from them are on there website and things pushed on air are from AT&T and not Samsung's problem.
Oh and thanks for confirming my refurb question!
I went in to the store, told them the phone bricked during the OTA update. After he saw nothing happened when he plugged into the charger of PC, he replaced my phone with a new Captivate.

The warranty stores around me don't service the Captivate so I didn't have a choice but to do it over the phone.
You could probably argue to at least get free faster shipping if they're offering anything slower than 2-3 day shipping

OTA = Over The Air.
Kies = Samsung software used for interfacing your phone to your PC. Personally, I uninstalled it after a very short time because I found it to be useless, however, others on these forums like it a lot, so YMMV. Not to be confused with drivers, Kies is a front end UI, kinda like iTunes, but if someone here uses it or likes it more than I do, feel free to correct me.
So got my replacement phone, the battery was completely dead when I put it in (was at 90% when the phone bricked). So imo the screwed up update discharged my battery and may have shorted something in the phone itself. Thoughts?
how is the replacement phone, is the refurbished phone works like a champ without any scratches/dings?
My replacement phone (unrelated issue) came back looking brand new.
I am not so sure they are refurbed...not yet at least.
Same here. The JH7 update bricked my Captivate. After the OTA download, the update started, then said "update failed. Your phone will now boot." But the screen went black, and boot never completed. Phone would not power on, and I tried two different charged batteries. Phone was stock -- not rooted, no side loaded apps, no mods at all other than market apps.
AT&T store was nice, but would not replace my phone on the spot because I was outside 30 days. AT&T warranty is sending me a replacement. The replacement is supposed to have JH7 already installed.
Also, I just ordered an iPhone 4 on a separate contract through my company, primarily to get corporate Exchange email. I can get Exchange email to work on my Captivate, but I don't like how my company's Exchange security policy forces an unlock password on my personal Android phone. So I will use the Captivate for personal use and the iPhone for work for the time being. Now I can decide through actual use which phone I like better. Until recently I was a committed Windows Mobile user, but I decided very early that WM7 has some shortcomings that I cannot live with. Let the early adopters clean up WM7, and maybe I will try it at the end of my Captivate contract.
Its unreal all the issues from the first update for us. AT&T really botched this one. Makes me think unless samsung does something we are going to be left in the dark as far as updates go.

yeah, we are exactly the same... got to 50%, update failed, and it died... and i was out of my warranty for 1 day! screwed.... the warranty can send me a replacement... and the samsung can reflush my phone.... i am now confused, should i send it to samsung or to att...
if i send it to att, i will get a refurb one, if i send it to samsung i got my same phone... i think i prefer to send it to samsung
edit:
btw, is it possible to see the internal memory card data and copy my data?
Phone is in better physical condition than my original lol
I'm assuming that JH7 comes from the last 3 characters of the baseband version in which case the phone was not updated. The GPS is better on this refurb than my original, albeit still spotty.
I was given those 2 options too, i chose to go with at&t and get a refurb. The Samsung rep I talked to also suggested that I go with the AT&T warranty first. And no I do not believe there is a way to copy your data off the bricked phone without physically taking it apart (which may void the warranty I dunno)

Change insurance deal?

I got my phone insurance through best buy ssome days ago. My phone is still perfect and new but now I realized I really want Verizon insurance instead. Is there any way I can change that? Maybe bring in the phone so they know nothing is wrong whatsoever just a bad decision I made?

I don't think you're contractually bound to Best Buy's insurance agreement, are you? As far as I remember, when I had it and had it voided by rooting my phone, I just called and cancelled it.
Just out of curiosity, what makes Verizon insurance better than Best Buy's?

If I lose my phone Verizon will replace it. Bestbuy won't take phones that are "drowned" and yes I know about cancelling I voided my warranty that way too but they don't know. I just wanna have peace of mind knowing if I get robbed Verizon will at least replace my phone

By "drowned" I'm assuming you mean water damage. And if so, the Best Buy rep told me that if I chucked my phone into a pool and brought it in, they would replace it. That was about 2 years ago, so I don't know if that policy changed since then. Then again, I don't know if what the Best Buy rep said was true since I never needed to test him on it.
I'm not trying to sway you one way or the other. I just thought Best Buy did cover water damage is all.
Google has a lot of posts on people misinformed by bestbuy reps

Yes, you are within your return window. Call and cancel your insurance with Bestbuy and take the phone into Verizon and have them activate insurance on your account. Considering I've worked for 3 wireless companies (including Verizon) as a sales rep in the past 5 years, you can take my word on it.
Also, if you root your phone, don't call any cancel like some idiot said he did here. If your phone breaks, drowns, or just quits working, then they will have no way of knowing. Most don't care anyways, because half of the reps root their phones too. Still to be safe, if problems occur, and the phone is still working (software, minor quality control issues), just simply unroot before taking the phone into the store.

Hi, I'm the "idiot" that called and cancelled due to having a rooted phone. I have to admit that if I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have cancelled but being a paranoid noob at the time, I didn't know any better since so many people were telling me that rooting could easily be traced back. I know that's not true now. Normally, I would take offense to someone calling me an idiot but that was an idiotic move I made 2 years ago. And just so we're clear, I was never suggesting to the op to do what I did; I was just making a point about how I cancelled my Best Buy insurance.

AT&T Gear s2 Pre-Orders Start Friday November 5th

Well seems like AT&T is the last to the party (Except Sprint) to drop the Gear S2, Pre-Orders start the day Verizon will have it available to actually purchase, kind of a stupid move considering a good portion of people aren't really worried about a 2 year contract. I'm on AT&T and already have the 2-year on my Gear S which I am about to suspend, and not renew with the S2, all i want is a speaker, so I can grab one from Verizon November 6th or wait 2 more weeks for the same product from AT&T, if AT&T is who dropped on the ball on this, it wasn't a good move I'm assuming most people like me will just grab a Verizon model for that speaker capability.
But then again, while waiting for the S2 with the speaker on it, I grabbed another BT model and have grown too attached to it, might not even bother with the 3G at this point.
Thoughts?
3G model all the way for me. Speaker and GPS are too useful for me to settle for the bluetooth model.
Sent from my SM-G925P using Tapatalk
will the 3G model work on non Samsung phones?
thanks
I'm pretty sure, I don't think the open phone thing was just for the BT model, it's the same software with a few tweaks to accommodate the speaker and phone capabilities.

Samsung is based out of South Korea...not China
Wondering the same thing myself. They never said will only work with Samsung phones, but we are missing some phone hooks on the BT version, like answering a call - we can only reject. And missing the email app, and the Messages app (mostly). And weather won't automatically update. Just saying...
I've been using the Classic version for a week now and am loving the design. Being able to change straps to ceramic or other leather bands is more important to me than the speaker or GPS. Also, the lighter weight and thinner profile are just as important for my wrist.
I'm sticking to my Classic.

Samsung has said there is a 3G Classic is coming and more expensive versions are as well. The time-frame is unknown though.
talked to AT&T today and they said it will be available on the 20th. There will be a floor model sample available on friday.
t mobile told me today that preorders will start on the 10th; I was surprised, since they had said earlier that there were no pre orders..
ah, who to believe...
I am torn. Don't know if I want this or the LG Urbane 2nd Edition LTE? I have been using the Gear S2 for the past couple of weeks and do like it. I especially like the bezel navigation. But man, apps are sooooo freaking limited, as are watch faces. ATT is selling both for the exact same price. Thoughts?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
no comparison; the rotating bezel on the Samsung makes all other smart watches obsolete..
pre-ordered mine this evening. they said it should ship on the 19th or 20th. maybe earlier.
Go to an at&t store to see it in person before you buy. It is far more hideous (to me) than I thought possible. And this coming from someone who REALLY wants the speaker. It is so unsightly that I may just return my (much loved) S2, and stick with my AW Gear Live, until Samsung comes out with an S3.

Nailed it, except I love the S2 with or without the speaker so it was easy to just say screw it and keep my S2 BT version because I already love it. The added thicknessof the 3G model is just too much, and I really really really wanted the 3G model, I was disappointed but got over it quickly when I looked down at my wrist and saw this great looking thin functional smartwatch that easily passes for a normal watch (finally!) I'll live without the speaker, I have so far, I'll miss it but before I know it I'll forget about it.

Samsung Pay on the Gear LTE requires it on the phone also

From the AT&T user manual...
Note: You must first register cards to Samsung Pay on your connected smartphone. For more information, refer to the mobile device’s user manual.
So no Samsung phone, no Samsung Pay on your Gear because Samsung Pay currently doesn't work on anything but flagship-class Samsung phones.
Thanks for the information, that's what I was very curious about.
With no disrespect intended, are you posting this based on personal experience? I'm asking because there's a lot of speculation, based on conflicting information posted online, and we're now (hopefully today) at the point where we should be able to get first hand accounts.
I have spoken with Samsung via chat. Picked up my watch this am. Chat guy says the Samsung pay app for non-Samsung phones will be released next week. He said it will show up in the gear app.

Seriously? A chat with a minimum wage CSR that's likely in an Asian offshore call center? The same CSR's that have no idea about today's launch delivery schedule? What I posted was right out of AT&T's Gear S3 LTE user manual. I'd go with that over a chat with a CSR.
That said, if Samsung is launching Samsung Pay for non-Samsung phones app that's a whole different discussion. When/if that happens certain TBD non-Samsung phones can provide the tethering support necessary for Samsung Pay to work on the Gear. When/if is a big deal though. Samsung Pay for the Gear S2 was announced when it was launched. It took a year for it to be released. Hopefully Samsung Pay for non-Samsung phones doesn't suffer the same fate timing wise. It's kind of an interesting model when/if it comes to be. A NFC only Pixel owner with Samsung Pay installed could suddenly have MST access via their Gear in a gazillion more places. That can't make Google who is pushing Android Pay very happy.
But the reality is, until a non-Samsung phone Android Samsung Pay app is launched, Samsung Pay on the Gear S3 won't work without a Samsung flagship phone associated with it.

Breathe. It'll be OK.
No one says it's currently working I've asked multiple people and get the same answer. Take it for what it's worth. Multiple tweets from @samsungpayus say the same thing.
If it's only NFC and MST then oh well, buy something else if you're not satisfied.
There is a Samsung Pay app in the Gear App that is separate from the Samsung Pay app that runs on a Samsung smartphone. I can't say whether or not it works on non-Samsung phones because I have a Galaxy S7 but it is definitely a separate app. (I had to register my card in it, even though the card was already registered in the Samsung Pay app on my phone.)

Sprint Note 7 return deadline

I just left the Sprint store and the guy working told me that after Dec 31, Sprint will no longer accept returns or exchanges on the Note 7. Is there any truth to this?
There is no official word on it.
According to Cspc procedures as long as the recall is in effect they have to either refund, replace or repair it
Not True Call Samsung
Your best bet is to call Samsung and have them associate a reference number with your call as I was told by them I could use the phone until the Note 8 came out and still receive the upgrade and discount on new device

I know that I have "Junior Member" next to my user name (look at year joined), however I can assure that my Note 7 still charges to 100% and works perfectly. I spoke to Samsung Friday (6/2/17) and they still were trying to get my phone offering all the way up to the S8 in exchange for it. Forget the Carrier and go straight to Samsung. They have a special department still dedicated to the Note 7 and also offered full refund as long as you have documentation proving the phone is yours. Doubt all you want to, but call Samsung yourself and get straight from the horses mouth.
I will be forever indebted to XDA for ALL the amazing developers that have allowed me to flash my phones over the years 100's of times as it becomes an addiction. : )
