Hi everyone,
Yesteday I did the update to of my L02 Chinese edition to the stable Android 5 from the Huawei website. While it is working fine, there is one thing that annoys me. I have a smart cover the old version with a little bigger window while it was fitting it on KitKat and had a nice clock and could switch to the music app as well, now it looks like this: i.imgur.com/qaHC9bO.png
I googled it and on this website: gogi.in/ huawei-honor-6-flip-cover-review.html a guy is showing the Smart Cover screens and they seem to be completely different from what I have, which is one clock screen and nothing more. Is there a way to customize this screen and let's say replace this app/service to the one he's showing?
Android device cant identify the type of Smart cover which is placed on it.
And that gogi.in guy is from India, & in india smart cover is available of the same type you shown in image.
I am L04 user, not using smart cover but what i think is you might have updated to a different region firmware.

I am aware of that it might be a difference in a firmware, but I assume that a smart cover option in settings is an app or a service that you can actually overwrite or edit. My question is where can I find it and what is the name of it?

I recently bought a HTC touch phone and i suspect it is a Chinese clone but i really dont know. They all look the same to me (the phones). After searching Xda it appears to be like the HTC Elf100 and dopod S1. Is there a definitive way to tell the exact model? The phone was purchased from a website called Deal Extreme.
I would like to know if it is possible to extract the ROM from the phone and save it onto my computer for back up.
More importantly (and the reason i am here) is that the screen is malfunctioning in that the colours are all very faded and there are black lines across the length of the screen wherever there is text or icons. There is a severe flicker when the backlight is set to anything other than full brightness. For the first three days the screen was crystal clear and the colours very vibrant. The only changes made were installing some third party softwares and applying a screen protector.
I have uploaded an image here:
http://www.ibj.co.nz/vlt/CamScreen.jpg
I am trying to isolate the problem down to software or hardware. If it is hardware i will order another screen or digitizer and replace it and if it is software i will begin to look down that path, perhaps flashing the unit with more up to date ROM.
Tell us one thing, is the serial number in the following format? -> HTxxxGxxxxx, if Yes you have have original HTC Touch, if No, you have a nice Chinese clone.
If the back of the device underneath the battery looks like attached picture, you have the clone on your hands. you will have to ship it back to DX for replacement or repair.
Regards
Just from looking at the front of your phone, yes you have a clone
Yep CLone
OK Thanks for assistance. I have a clone here. DX offered to send me a replacement screen if i can locate one on their website. I would have thought they would know if they have one in stock but apparently not.
Can anyone think of a way to find what sort of a screen i would need to replace this one? I am told that the original HTC screen will not do, perhaps different pin outs.
Replacement screen
So i guess i am just sh#t out o luck then? The retailers can't find a replacement screen. Can the ridgy didge screen be modified to fit a clone?
Don't know. Since it's a clone they can have used whatever LCD, with whatever flex connector. But one thing for sure is that you wont be able to use original HTC Touch LCD.
Best option is to ship back to DX for replacement.
Regards
Hi everyone,
My friend's got an HTC explorer which he dropped recently (probably) breaking the touch screen digitizer. It boots up fine until the lockscreen but touch doesn't work. Unless high pressure is applied in which case the small wheel thing(stock ROM) moves ever so slightly but still not enough to unlock..
The part seems to be easily available online (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Explorer-Screen-Digitizer-Mobile-Replacement/dp/B007TGXVYA) but I'm not sure if I can replace this myself, having zero experience opening a phone, except an old nokia 6233 once. So what do you guys say, should I buy one and replace it myself or get it done outside for double the cost?
P.S. This is where I would refer to for opening the device. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFtdxiX6YSM
Thanks!
go for it and replace it yourself. it's very easy. that video was very helpfull for me too.
you'll have to be carefull with flat bands at 1:15-1:22. also be carefull at 2:35 when display is removed.
you have to order (if notincluded with digitizer) a double adhesive band to use it between digitizer and phone body. there already is some sticky material but after removal of broken one (I managed to do it with an old sim card sharpened on sandpaper)you'll have to remove the remains and replace it with new one (double adhesive band becouse you don't have that kind of material)
I used something like this (of course not all of it )
LE: actually if you order from amazon or elswere you'll get THIS . the real name

Great! thanks.
Hi Guys!
During last few years I owned Samsung's devices (mainly the Notes). Two weeks ago I decided to switch into the "new Samsung" and I have bought the Huawei Mate 8 3GB/32GB.
Unfortunately, I have two problems with my new device. The first one (less relevant) is related to the screen and the second (more important for me) to the warranty.
Problem 1:
Today I went to a shopping mall, where I compared my Mate 8 with the exhibition one. Glance at these photos: http://oi64.tinypic.com/2d7ygie.jpg and http://oi68.tinypic.com/30upisn.jpg
Can You see the difference in colours distribution and fidelity?
I had set the same options, but both devices were displaying different colours. Why? It's a problem with my device (which is the one on the left side)?
Problem 2
I need to know where is placed the liquid contact indicator in Mate 8? I am afraid that it is placed next to mini jack port. Please let see these photos: http://oi66.tinypic.com/ogf9xe.jpg and http://oi66.tinypic.com/35dc2h4.jpg
Do You think that the red mark it's a damaged water indicator and my warranty has blown up? It would be very bad, because my phone is relatively new.
I called to official service in my country (which is Poland), but they said that the liquid contact indicator is somewhere on the motherboard. It's not very precise explanation.
I will be very grateful for Your engage and help.
Best regards!
Guys,
anyone, anything?
point one: Can you adjust the the screensettings in the Menue "Colortemp" ? To a result that makes you happy?
poin two: im not from huawei but im sure they DONT have a indicator in the headphonejack.
The indicator should be inside the Phone near or ON the mainboard.

Pt. 1.
Hard to say. I can adjust the colour temperature, but I am sure that the default setting was better in that shop copy of Mate 8. What's more, I have feelings that my device has some problems with colour's distribution - the lower left side of the screen seems to me a little different in terms of colour temperature.
Pt. 2.
Are You sure that the indicator can't be seen via headphone jack in Mate 8? Did you see my photos? What's that red mark? Don't You think that it's a part of mainboard and the indicator on it?

It might not work because there is no smart cover option whatsoever in settings. At least I have not found any.
Try using some smart cover app from Play Store.
Does anyone know where to buy the original style cover (like the one for xz2 and xz3 which when you open the screen turns on and when you close it it turns off). On Sony UK site I can only find the version with the touch panel and I don't like it. Thanks in advance for your help.
They didn't make one. Only option is 3rd parties.

This is stupid. Because it recodnises my old cover from my xz2 and asks if It is touch or not. Guess I am going to hack a new case and add the sensor from the old one.
There is a style cover from sonymobile.com
I bought the SCTI30 which Sony shows on their website, it is the official cover.
I never used a flip/bookstyle cover like this but I like it. It protects the phone very well and touch control through the cover is amazing.
I bought it via knaldeals.com which is a Dutch site and I don't know if they ship internationally.
