My normal battery temperature is staying upto 37-38 degree Celsius and CPU temperature is staying 47-48 degree Celsius.. I just got my one plus one.. Its been only 4 hours.. I've installed many apps (similar apps I had installed on moto g 2014 and it didn't get heated up at all).. What is the normal temperature?
Edit : I'm on cyanogen mod 12.1 out of the box

It depends on how you use it
If you use your device only on WiFi with low brightness, you'll get more than 6:30 Hrs SOT
If you keep your data on with most of the services running in background, you'll get 3-4 Hrs SOT
Most of the users are reporting better battery life on KitKat ROM than on Lollipop ROM with similar usage scenarios.
Suggestion: Do not compare your SOT with others because you never know what their usage is. Some of them may simply keep the screen on for reading and can get 7-9 Hrs SOT
SOT = Screen On Time
I hope this helps.

CM11S builds
44S or 05Q
I'm currently on 44S. Pretty much satisfied with the battery life. My next ROM will be sultanxda's CM13 builds once it is stable without any FCs.

Just because of hot climate in India, I have to undervolt the processor with the help of custom kernel like Franco.
So I never experience any heating issues on any KitKat or Lollipop ROMs.

Without undervolting is it going to continue overheating like this?
I'm seriously very disappointed with this phone.. It gets heat up so easily.. It remains between 50-60 now! Its not been even 24hrs since the phone arrived! What should I do? Please suggest! Should I try replacing it? Or is this the normal temperature for one plus one? If yes then I'll return it

Do not use your OPO when it's on charging. It'll heat up!
I suggest you to perform a factory reset and use your device.
If it still heats up even when it is on standby, return and replace your OPO
You can directly opt for return and replacement if you don't want to troubleshoot.
Other device at this price point is Moto X Play which is fair enough to buy!

On stand by or on charging it dosen't heat up at all! On stand by the temperature goes upto 36-37 max, but as soon as I start to use it, the temperature starts rising so easily!
On normal usage the range stays between 43-49 always! Is that normal or should I replace it? I'm sorry if I'm being hyper but honestly I saved money to buy this phone.. And now it's not working as expected

My phone is charging and it's draining...-_-. Using VMax Kernel 1.2 @ 1ghz with CM7 Nightly #34. How is this happened?
Also my phone gets really HOT at the top. I'm just doing normal stuff on it too.
Trying Bionox v1.3 with Trinity Max 1.1 @1ghz and it's still happening.
Do I need a new battery or is this a whole hard ware problem?
Having everything on gps, Bluetooth, wifi, max screen brightness, as well as using it at the same time will give very little charge if not drainage. If the above is true, you're just draining more mA than your charger can keep up with. Which is completely normal.

You're overclocking and complaining about battery drain? Try stock and see if the same thing happens first?
I believe the stock wall charger is rated at 700 mA. If you're consuming more than that with your screen on then you'll see drainage. You can check your drainage with the battery monitor apps on the market. If you have a lot of bright colors as well as max brightness then yeah, you, really probably draining more. Vmax kernels use more power as well.

lol I frequently run like that while I'm driving somewhere new. Always have my BT in, of course I have GPS on, and the screen might be a little bright. Usually, I leave on WiFi just out of laziness. I always charge my phone while I'm doing this using a $4 charger I got off of Amazon and it always shoots up very quickly. An hour or two long drive will give me almost a full charge.
my phone suddenly started overheating this week. I've been using it the same way I have been since I've gotten it, but I've recently started installing kernels on it, such as ElementalX and Franco. I had been using Franco's kernels since the third day I had my phone (Nov. 14th) and I didn't have a single problem with them. Then on Sunday, my phone started getting slightly warmer. I decided to change to ElementalX and not, the phone has been overheating even more. Could it be that kernels are actually having an impact on my phone's temperature? or is it one of my apps going wild in the background? Anyways, before I installed any kernel on my Nexus 5, it would idle at around 32-38 degrees Celsius and when in use, it would never pass 40. With Franco's kernel before the overheating problem, I would be getting the same temps. When it started overheating, it would get to 34-40 and go up to 44 but never past 45 wen in use. Now, on idle, the minimum seems to be 42-47 on idle and ramps up to even 52 when I'm using it. Please help

nope, batteries are chemical and this chemistry tends to behave very differently as time goes by, that's why I don't like devices with in-built batteries. Some iPhones last for 4 hours, some last for a day. The difference is the condition of the battery of a specific device.
Just to make sure, i'd put KitKat on it and see if anything changes, however, if it does not, I'd go and check the battery.

that should not make the battery overheat. Overheating usually means that the battery does not properly function.
post ur battery stats
There's an app called tempmonitor that will allow you to see both your battery and CPU temperature.
I've also been having overheating problems but mines would reach up to 50c on idle and when watching videos or web browser reaching up to 65c. So hot I can't even hold it. But this would happen randomly. I'd check to see if any process is causing this but that doesn't seem to be the case. And this is after flashing to stock kernel and rom.
Called Google to ask if it was normal and if there would be a software update to fix the issue. But they set me up for an rma to send the phone back for a replacement.

I've been using the temp. monitor in Trickster to check my battery/cpu temperatures and my battery is usually at around 30-32C on idle and my CPU is usually at 42-46 idle and up to 54-56 when in a YouTube video or a Netflix episode. I will be calling Google this afternoon to see what they say about this. I'm guessing I'll also get set up for an RMA.

They sent me a replacement. I currently have both and have factory reset the faulty one. Before I factory reset though, downloaded all my apps and made sure that the one they had sent me was almost an exact copy of the older one so it would be a fair comparison and I played the same YouTube Video on both and checked the cpu/battery temps. The temps on the replacement are definitely a LOT lower. The new one idles at 32-36 while the other one idled at 42-44. After the YouTube video, the replacement was at 41 and the faulty one was at 52. I'll be sending back the faulty one today
Hey guys. I recently went back to 25r in an attempt to get better battery. And I am. What's strange is that in the first 50% I'll get 3hours soc. But I'm now on 18% with 4hours and 10 mins. Seems kinda strange. Not using the phone any differently. I do have a Google play services drain but its only 14% and I don't think its doing that much harm
Any one else?

Posts like this don't really help as we need to see what wakelocks are going on with your phone as well as the number of times its waking up your device.
The whole post-50% is a coincidence.
It's completely normal for you to have a 'faster' drain on the lower 50% of your battery life. But what Zephik said is right, it's impossible to say what's happening on your device without you providing some accompanying analytical data.

Im quiet happy with my battery, get about 3 hours soc until 50% and then i get home from work, so its not a massive issue for me. What i find weird is the 49%-1%
Drain a hell of a lot faster, not really an explanation as to why it does that?
Hoping the 38r update that comes out next sunday makes it even better though

Install a app such as GSam / Wakelock Detector / BetterBatteryStats, on your next battery cycle running one of the 3 apps listed, post up screenshots of the listings so we can further discuss this. Or you can take a look at them yourself if you know what to look for.
You'd be looking for partial wakelocks / wake ups
Hello,
I got a second Nexus 5 after my first one suddenly developed a modem fault and refused to work in 2G areas. This time, I got one in red, used, manufactured in March 2014. The phone is in great condition and is as good as new.
Problem is, the battery life is really bad. I'm on stock rom with ElementalX 1.12 and despite undervolting by -25 on all frequencies, my battery life is as shown in the images below. I easily got 3.5-4 hours of SOT with some 15-20% battery remaining on my previous Nexus 5 which I got in December 2013. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is the only phone I can afford right now and I'll have to live with this purchase till at least next year. Thank you.
P.S: I'm down to 22% within the last 30 minutes with an extra 10 minutes of SoT while doing nothing but keeping the screen active.
How's your signal?
Signal is generally good. I was travelling to a remote location today hence the poorer signal but on any day, my battery is pretty much the same. Especially now that I'm back home with a solid signal, it's still dropping battery.

your battery is fine. the longer you go without charging, the shorter amount of screen time youre gonna get. im a heavy user, and use up my battery within 10 hours, but i see 5h sot every day. you are using closer to 24 hours but are seeing 3.5-4h sot. i see nothing wrong with your battery. lower your brightness some and youll see better battery. keep your brightness around 20%.
20 hours, 33% remaining, what's the issue? 3hrs SoT is what is to be expected without reducing the settings that drain your battery. A small undervolt and custom kernel aren't going to affect your run time noticeably, so you've actually yet to do anything significant to increase battery life. That would require adjusting settings to maximize run time.
For more information, see the battery help thread.

Hello,
I am using nexus 5 for couple of days now. Recently I am getting this running process "mm-qcamera-daemon" which is eating 31% of my battery life. (Check my screenshots attached) which is even greater than screen % of about 16% only.
The battery drains real quick. Even though I reboot the phone,it doesn't work.
I also keep getting error message of "cannot connect to camera".

reboot to get rid of the battery loss. and where did you buy your n5? and is a warrenty exchange possible? since your having camera issues as well. you can try going to the main settings, apps, yhen find the camera app and clear its data.
Hi simms22,
I cleared the app data and rebooted. But still same mm-qcamera-daemon is still there eating up my 31% battery.
Is that a bug or issue with my ROM??
I bought it from 3rd person so no exchange possible.
Should I be worried about my battery??

it could be a bug with the rom you are running, if its a custom rom. if so, id flash the factory img first. btw, which version of android is running? anyways, if after flashing the factory img it still happens, i suspect a hardware issue if your camera is not working. so, after a full run, it uses that much battery or is that only in the very beginning, when you just start using after unplugging?

Well the screenshot tells us nothing. You'd have to give us all the battery screen shots. But from what I can see, 14 minutes on battery, a lot of screen use and some gaming... 3% isn't bad at all. You can't really judge anything on 15 minutes though.

While the N5 is one seriously amazing device, one thing it is not known for is having great battery life. You'll get used to it.

I already know that about the N5 battery, but i think it's particular problem with my phone.
You're still not showing all the screen shots. Your battery is fine. Look at the screen usage % of the other screen shot. Much less than yours
Here's the deal, if you use the screen, your battery goes down. Nothing new here.

Only 2 things affect screen battery use.
1) the amount of time you use the screen
2) the brightness of the screen.
So turn it down or turn it off.
Playing games will drop your battery fast. No way around it. ?

You can see they didn't play a game in their screen shot, where as you spent some time playing clash of clans. Gaming will always drain your battery quickly and this is not a unique behavior with the Nexus 5.
Also the higher frames per second your phone can achieve the quicker your battery will drain. This makes an interesting situation as once your phone gets hot and throttles down it will actually last longer as the frames get lower. If you were to limit the FPS or CPU clock speed you could actually game for longer.
Usage, Settings, and Signal determine battery life. This would be an example of how different usage will obtain different battery life.
so i perfer to have a battary case, this phone battary so tinty
Yeah i got that, thanks a lot guys!
