[Q] Recovery is lost after flashing [ROM][ALL VARIANTS][5.1.1] CyanogenMod 12.1 - Sony Xperia M2

Flashed This ROM
and GAPPS on my Xperia M2 Dual [D2302] last night.
This ROM works fine.
Great Job. :good:
Just a small issue. I lost recovery after installing this ROM.
Can anyone help me install CWM or TWRP in this ROM for D2302?
What I did:
-> Flashed Stock 5.1 ftf
-> Rooted using KingRoot
-> Installed Multiple Recoveries with this method.
-> Flashed ROM and GAPPS
Thank You in advance

Download your stock rom and then flash only the recovery through the flash tool

WTF?!
How did you even install this with a Locked Bootloader recovery?!
Is your bootloader open?!

Well, this demonstrates that a LBL recovery can flash correctly a UBL rom. @AleksJ, have a look here.

there is a bug or something. Sim 1 is working fine.
but in Sim 2. calls are incoming and outgoing properly but voice is not coming. not even dialing tone.

If bootloader is unlocked, think that it's possible. The installation script does almost everything in these cases.

Am I the only one that has problem on calls? The person on the other end of the line hears his voice twice everytime I make a call?Any advice?

Please don't post offtopic messages.
Same problem as @iqan , but I didn't flash GAPPS. Recovery don't boot. СМ boot directly.
CM installed via TWRP.

@iqan Look here. Works for me.

To avoid losing of the recovery after ROM installation flash TWRP image into separate than boot partition.
After TA update, flash via fastboot:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img
To enter into recovery mode press Volume down + Power button until device vibrate. First release Power button, when teamwin logo screen shows release Volume down.
p.s.
I've and tested on D2303 only.

Guide: Installing Kernels/Roms on Xperia L (Unlocked Bootloader only)

Hey there guys, this thread is noob friendly and is made especially for those of you who just got their first Sony phone and decided to flash a custom kernel or rom.
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone, use this tutorial at your own risk.
Things you'll need:
- Xperia L with Unlocked Bootloader(ofcourse haha) Look here on how to unlock your bootloader.
- Flashtool
Installing a kernel (This tutorial is for 4.2.2 only, that is 15.3.A.0.26+)
1. Download phantom kernel from here (both Phantom_modules.zip and the boot.img) Place the "Phantom_modules.zip" into your phone (sd card or internal storage) Or you can use any other kernel's boot.img
2. After installing flashtool, or if you already have it installed, open it and click on the Flash icon (the first icon from the left)
4. When it asks you to choose a bootmode, select fastboot mode and press ok.
5. After all this has done turn of your phone (Xperia L).
6. Get out your usb cable and plug it into your computer while holding the "volume up" button. (notice your phone will glow blue below, this means that it is in fastboot mode.)
7. On the pop up window where it says "By Doomlord", choose "select kernel to flash". Locate your boot.img file that you just downloaded a while ago and select it.(Notice if the boot.img file is not showing up in the file menu, on the right cornor make sure the file type is set as "*.img")
8. Be patient and wait till the kernel has been flashed, should take no longer than 10 seconds.
9. Now select "Reboot device into system" and wait for your phone to power on, now once it's powered on without any problems turn it off. Now turn on your phone and wait for a purple glow then hold down the "volume down"button. Now you'll be in CWM (clock work recovery mod) Once you're here select install from zip. Locate your "phantom_modules.zip"(or the zip file, of your kernel choice) and select yes. Wait for it to be flashed and then go back and, reboot sytem.
10. From here you can flash any kernel/rom via CWM, like Thunderzap or civic. Just boot into cwm, select install from zip and locate your kernel zip file and hit install.

- Kernel Owners.
- Sony for their kernel source
Hit thanks if this helped you out.
I don't think that's needed to be Phantom Kernel, or any other in specific, since the kernel provide a recovery with the possibility to flash a zip, it's ok (correct if I'm wrong).
I had unlocked my bootloader, then flashed the boot.img inside of the flashable zip from ThunderZap, then, rebooted to recovery right way, and flashed the entire package from ThunderZap.
Regards and thanks for the helpfull post!

No probs
Well it was the first kernel for 4.2.2 and that's why I put it up instead. I know we can use the boot.img from thunderzap too but if I'm not specific enough most of the noobs wont understand. I also chose that kernel because it comes with a recovery so then you can just flash other kernels via cwm.
Complicated - with properly installed drivers you can start flashtool with usb-cable plugged in. After clicking the flash icon choose "Reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB)".
When the phone is in fastboot mode (blue led) choose "Select kernel to flash". No need to turn off the phone and play with cable and vol-down button...

Sorry for noob question, but in step 9, can I skip the flashing "phantom_modules.zip" part and keep the stock kernel?

Ignore this. I thought it was CWM only. I should have researched more before installing this. But I installed it and it is working good.

Flash any (4.2.2) stock rom and try again. That's why your WiFi probably isn't working. Either that or you didn't flash the kernel zip file (ex thunderzap4.1.zip) after fast booting the kernel img.

WiFi now working
I am also facing the same issue where wifi is not working on any Rom. So after following the steps mentioned earlier. What exactly should be done like boot to recovery then flash gapps and then reboot. Once booted flash boot.img from the Rom and then boot to recovery to flash the full kernal zip package..?

How is this done?
Ok i seem to have solved my problem.
If you flashed SuperSU after flashing this ROM but still don't seem to have root or recovery - THIS IS WHAT WORKED FOR ME:
Open SuperSU app > Settings
Disable SuperSU > Re-Enable SuperSU
You should now have Root
Now after this i used AutoRec to install a working recovery, then I was able to enter recovery BUT it shows Security Error if i try to reboot after that. (so you can get into recovery once this way if you really need to.)
i had to dirty flash the rom again to be able to boot except it breaks the recovery again. At least i have root now, still no recovery
I also keep getting "Unfortunately, LGSmartCover has stopped".

[TUTORIAL] [Noob-Friendly] How to Flash CM12 from Stock ROM

This is my first tutorial so please tell me if I missed anything This thread will teach some noobs here who are on stock 4.1.2/4.2.2 and want to flash latest roms like cm12/cm11/Euphoria Os and etc. This tutorial is self-tested by me!
______________________________________________________________________________
1) Firstly, you should unlock the bootloader. To do this go to this thread> http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/general/tutorial-bootloader-unlocking-relocking-t2332900 (after flashing you may get a bootloop so flash stock ftf to recover > http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/general/xperia-l-how-to-flash-tool-unlocking-t2337955 http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/general/sony-xperia-l-flashable-ftfs-locked-t2560642
2)You should install a recovery > http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/orig-development/cwm-recovery-installer-t2589320 for this you need root > http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/general/rootkit-xperia-l-15-3-1-17-1-click-root-t2591290 Backup your stock rom(optional) and TA(if the phone gets damaged during warranty) and copy rom zip file to sd card http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/orig-development/4-4-3-aospa-legacy-4-4-beta1-t2571273
3) In recovery Wipe cache/dalvic/art cache> Factory data reset> clean to install a new rom
4) Flash the rom and Gapps for specific rom(may not be included so google (the version of android gapps) and flash it after rom. Edit: Flashing kk is not necessary.
5) Reboot and wait for some time... Instalation takes some time... :good:
___________________________________________________________________________
6)(BONUS) If you want a good recovery like philz/twrp > http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/themes-apps/beta-fota-cwm-one-klick-t3068084 just install an app and click install philz. The app that installs a recovery is unique. It won't be overriden by another rom's recovery and u won't have to flash tz boot.img again and again... and one question why is KK recommended first?

XT1039 bootloop after flashing CM13

Hi,
XT1039: bootloader unlocked, rooted, stock rom 4.4.4
TO: nightly
Flashed 4118 bootloader, as detailed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto...tions-t2996087
It was successful.
Followed https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_peregrine
unlocked bootloader
installed cm-recovery from here: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=nightly&device=peregrine
tried to flash cm, got a bootloader error,
followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59520890&postcount=233
Now using bootloader 411A
flashed cm-13.0-20160121-NIGHTLY-peregrine.zip
from here: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=nightly&device=peregrine
now the phone is stuck at the boot screen.
So I flashed twrp recovery, successful and reflashed cm-13.0-20160121-NIGHTLY-peregrine.zip
I tried several different guides that included all sorts of cache deletion and format orders but the result is still the same
(I am not using an sdcard but only the internal storage.)
After rebooting, the phone is stuck on the Cyanogenmod boot icon (blinking cat face) since past half hour.
Please guide how to debug/recover.
fastboot and recovery are working
Thanks,
[edit:]
The cm-13.0-20160121-NIGHTLY-peregrine.zip was transferred by mounting the internal storage on the PC and copying it manually. Just in case this matters

Thanks for the reply, but the goal is to get cyanogenmod on my phone. How does the stock rom help me with that??
Just for testing, I have installed the stock rom to see if it works and it does. I now have a Motorola Android 5.1 on my phone. But thats not what I wanted.
Anyone having any idea how to make cyanogenmod work?

Just to restoring a kernel on it...after restoring one, go to TWRP, make your wipes and flash again your CM

WOW Thank you very much, its working
Maybe you can also explain to my why installing the custom rom mattered, since I wiped everything before installing cm again, I would assume there is nothing of the stock rom left on the device.

Not really able to explain...sometimes sh*t happens...
But this procedure works almost every time.
Surely due to your bootloader error after your first flash with CM recovery...something was broken...
Most important, now, it's working...Enjoy
I install cm but google play is not working and sallular data also not working.. Plz any one help me please..

* Your warranty is now void.
* I am not responsible for bricked devices.
* ATTENTION: YOU are choosing to install this recovery at your own risk.
* I do not take responsibility for any problems with your device.
Features:
- This recovery is based on the TWRP from Pretoriano80
- Notch-friendly; due to notch-design I re-positioned the clock, now it is visible all the time
- I added the possibility to do a full device backup, thanks to Sudeep Duhoon
Installation:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk TWRP_3.2.1-0_ANE-LX1_Full_01.img
fastboot reboot
*Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot.
To prevent this, after typing fastboot reboot, remove the USB cable and hold the Vol+ key and boot to TWRP.
Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP.
If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.
Note: No sources available due to minor changes on the Pretoriano80's TWRP

Yes, I tried with success.
If fail for you reflash via fastboot.

This recovery should be compatible with ANE-LX3.
I don't have an answer in short term if this recovery will be compatible with custom ROMs but I'm work on it.

It happened to me with a custom ROM, I flashed a stock one and then TWRP was able to fully boot ?

I recommend you install the Pretoriano80 recovery and check the behavior.
What also helps is post here your device model and Rom installed.

Do you have a stock or treble rom installed?
Today I received an official full OTA update on my p20 lite.
Will the install of this update break the TWRP and/or root?
You can only upgrade with the stock recovery so....

Yes, in the meantime I just tried and of course the system was rebooted to TWRP which cannot automatically install stock update.
Now I am going to restore stock recovery.
? trial and error ?
That's how we learn the hard way ?

As mchtt explained, you need reflash at least stock recovery, but in my case was not enough, my system, cust, odm and ramdisk were changed and it fails every attempt.
So, I flashed B126 with HuRUpdater and then I got a clean ROM, then the official B136 FullOTA was installed without issues.
