Okay, we all know about the Verus case covering the laser autofocus and the hole over the charging port being too small, but I've also discovered that the case is covering part of my camera lens. It covers the bottom part from around 5-7 o'clock. See attached pic.
Anyone else?
Edit: Tapatalk is force closing when trying to attach my image... Here's a link until Tapatalk stops being an ass.

Where's the pic?
This doesn't appear to obstruct the actual lens, just the gray ring around it? Can you see it when you use the camera? If anything, it's protecting that back glass more by covering it.
the lens is the middle circle, the outer ring is not part of the lens.
I just wasn't sure one, if the outer part was also the lens, or two, if it was covering any part of the camera responsible for allowing light to enter.

My versus case has a different cutout for the camera but still covers the same part of that outer ring. What is that outer ring for ?

Think you're right, just used a piece of paper to cover the bottom of that and no effect I can see at all.
Usually those metallic rings are so you can attach a magnetic camera lens to the outside.

Forgot about these. Good call.
Verus corrected the problem of the obstruction of the laser autofocus but I found the Google-supplied charger did not fit in the USB cut out on this case. Had to buy the Google case which fits perfectly.

Actually it does not. Look at the back of your phone; there is a slightly raised lip around the camera lens. That lip makes contact with surfaces but the lens does not. Your lens must have been cracked by impact.
Actually it might...Its really f***ing hard to tell where my ghost armor ends and where the battery door starts ><
I think its slightly raised, noticed that the speaker is slightly raised as well, just to make them even with the bulging bottom.
Google Nexus S Body (Back) Skin
You can buy Best Skin Ever screen protector. I bought the back skin and it comes with camera lens skin, which is very easy to apply. As for the back skin, it may differ based on your skill set.
The lens is recessed.
Hello everybody,
I noteiced the HTC One S seems to lens itself to easily scratching the camera lens which is made of poly carbonate material I heard - which I believe to be very attractive to micro scratches.
I bought the phone second hand but since I got it I've always used a protective case which makes the camera no longer flush with a table or surface it's resting on.
Can anyone confirm if this will have a detrimental effect to photo quality / video quality?
Probably not, the lens cover will be too close to the lens for any of the micro scratches to actually be in focus/visible.
I just looked at my couple month old phone and see zero scratches. While the lens does protrude, the metal ring actually sticks out farther, so just resting it on a flat surface won't scratch it.
Oh man! I was wondering what material was used on the camera lens. Why couldn't it had been gorilla glass's corn whatever thing they use on the screen!? The HD7 had a lot of scratches on the camera. Surprisingly enough, none of that ever showed up on pics. I can't really tell the difference but maybe it could be clearer? Idk looks good for a phone's camera.
I don't want my baby's eye scratched up.
Even through I always have cases that leave the camera behind I noticed my camera is getting tiny scratches all over. I'm scared at some point it will affect the camera quality so I would like to know if there is some "easy way" to remove those scratches (and safe please)
No way I'm aware of to remove scratches. However, you can buy glass lens protectors (like mini tempered glass screen protectors) for the camera lens of these phones on ebay. They are like two bucks for a three pack.
I tried to get a TGSP for the Camera, but it was plastic, not glass, as claimed and it would not stay affixed.
I got a GadgetShieldz vinyl skin and it seems to be doing a better job and staying put.

I think removing the scratches actually makes more sense than any protection skin, since the skin never covers the viewfield of the camera and only scratches on the lens itself have any impact on picture quality...

I've bought the Spigen rugged armor along with the phone since a year. It is not too thick, solid (phone fell 3 or 4 times), and no camera bump ! Never got any scratches

Is it possible to remove scratches with buff?
I never had scratches on the camera tbh. Remember, the only thing that's gonna scratch your camera is sand, diamonds or other hard stuff. Metal, wood, plastic etc shouldn't leave scratches.
I was looking to get a tempered glass screen protector for Max3 that was fully compatible. The first one I got had the hole for the front camera in the wrong position so I had to send that one back. I then bought this one (which was half the price).
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-X-2-Pa...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
This one has 3 holes in the top and one does match with the front camera, though once matched up the bottom is a little short by ~3mm and the sides aren't too bad but could be a little closer to the edge.
Has anybody come across one yet that does a better job than this.? I've attached some pictures.
Looks good up top but the bottom and those sides are pretty bad. I'm just taking my chances. This device is so cheap I don't plan on keeping it more than a year. Although I do have 4 cases but that's more for preventing scratches on the camera lens.

I have this one: LEPHEE For Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Tempered Glass For Xiaomi Mi Max2 Full Protective Film Screen Protector For Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pro Glass
http://s.aliexpress.com/2EFrMJf6?fromSns=Copy to Clipboard
I has dot matrix and one giant bubble in the middle as it has no adhesive, only on the sides.
I have ordered this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/IMAK-9H-Fu...var=413479984513&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 and I'm waiting for delivery.

I would cancel that order if I were you as that one seems exactly the same as the first one I got. If you look carefully you will see the front camera hole cut out is in the wrong position so that you will have glass covering the front camera.

I know, the camera will be covered by glass (this is by design, not a mistake), the hole cut out on the right is for the proximity sensor (proximity sensor must be always uncovered to work)
For best touch experience ( Nano coated ) and display visibility: recommend Nillkin Amazing H+ Pro 0.2mm thick!

It might be by design but it is not a very good one. As a photographer I know that there are many reasons that you do not want to put an extra piece of glass over a camera lens if you can help it.
I suggest Nillkin for Mi Max 3
I ordered it from TradingShenzen
Its the smoothest and clearest Screen Protector I have ever seen
I order many glass from AliExpress, with border on top and bottom, are bad because remaining air inside.
Now I waiting for niklin glass more expensive but the best

today I received the tempered glass.
It has glue all over the surface, the camera is covered with glass.
After the installation there were some tiny bubbles left but I managed to push them out with my nail.
Before that, I had a similar tempered glass that had glue only at the edges.
Below you can see some side by side images for a comparison with the previous one, iMak is on the right side.

Stupid and unnecessary product..why is anyone manufacturing these.
Good thing I noticed this by someone else who said it.
I bought 1 Nillkin and ordered two more tempered glass sheets but from another brand.

No this one has a large rectangular notch in the top cut out.
Other brands has individual holes cut out around the camera, sensors etc but nillkin has just one large rectangular hole around this whole area.
Another thing about coverage is that all screen protectors are a little too narrow.
You have to measure out the dead center so it gets placed inside the lcd area otherwise either left or right side will be outside of the screen protector.
Its very difficult to get this dead center.
Also the length is too short creating the next problem.
Plus the top and bottom edge of the screen are slightly rounded so you also have to place it dead center, use the front camera as a reference and place it just a little lower than the bottom edge of the camera.
Otherwise you will get an air bubble either on the top or the bottom edge of the screen protector because of the edge is rounded as I mentioned.
The left and right edge are also slightly rounded but this is not an issue because the screen protector is already too narrow so you don't have to think about this, instead focus on getting the glass on both sides inside the lcd edge.
Image example below shows a profile mockup of the vertical edges: (the rounded edge has a very small angle and is almost invisible..but the bubble is visible and very annoying to look at if you fail to center the screen protector vertically)
I did this with masking tape and a caliper measuring while the screen was on to see where the lcd panel ends horizontally on the left and right side.
Fitting the screen vertically was more of a trial and error because I had no points of reference to use because the screen is black and the edges are black too.
I had to toss three screen protectors trying to make it centered on all axises.
If you buy a tempered screen protector with individual holes for each sensor it is impossible to make a fully centered fit to avoid the air bubble on top of the screen.
This is because if you allow to place it dead center and eliminate the air bubble both on the top and bottom then the holes don't line up for the sensors.
They will be placed around 1 to 1.5mm to low.
Other devices includes plastic guides that you place ontop of the phone so you are sure that the screen protector drops on dead center both horizontally and vertically.
Example in the image below:
Hopefully a guide like this will be available in the future with corrected measurments for the sensor holes or a complete notch such as nillkin does because its very difficult to apply a screen protector on the Mi max 3.
I purchased my screen protectors very early after release so of course it might allow for some early revisions with errors etc that are solved as time goes

Yes for the CP+ model
No for the Amazing H+ model
Both have full adhesion.
CP+ does look better overall, but camera hole cutouts collect more dust and grime compared to the open notch on the Amazing H+. Also harder to clean within said hole cutouts.
Amazing H+ has slight warping on the edges because of the Max 3 curved glass edges.
For looks, go for CP+.
For practicality, go for Amazing H+

Use a skin if possible, the lens flair is a bag of clankers as it is without adding more glass over or near the optics for light to bounce around.

The Ringke one you use protect the lens area too (I mean over the lens) or the whole lens frame except the lens area (I mean with a lens cutout)?
I used one that covers the lens area too for my OnePlus 7T phone and it had a flare effect while capturing subjects/frame that contains strong light sources, especially the sun.

I do mean lens flare, i am sorry i spelt it flair and confused you.
Just speculating but it looks like it is caused by the plain glass covering the primary lens and not the optics themselves which do have an anti reflective coating. Given how badly the Pixel 7 and 6 series handle lens flare i would not put anything on the camera bar with the faintest chance or making it worse by scatting even more light.
Of course this is all just my opinion, it doesn't make it right or a matter of fact.
I have Nillkin case which protects lences as well.

Great case, just cant really be used with any screen protector (and they say that...). Put too much pressure on the Whitestone glass....
I've never had a screen protector or lens protector since my first smartphone in 2010. But, my phone stays in a belt case (turtleback). I don't shove it in my pocket or anything like that.
I shove it in my pocket always but it's the only thing in there...
So all I use is a case, in case I drop it.
