Phone keeps restarting after flashing. - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hi,
I have problem with sim car, and IMEI was empty(null) and i flash it.
I downloaded Odion, latona_20110114.pit file, and firmware I9003XWKPG(from sammobile, and this version was on my phone).
After that i open odion, put mobile into download mode and connect to usb and some text in yellow box appear..
I checked re-partition, auto reboot and f. reset time and click on pit button and select latona_20110114.pit and click start.
After that I removed battery and put mobile phone once again in download mode and again text in yellow box appear, re-partition was unchecked, auto reboot and f.reset time was checked, and i clicked PDA button and select .md5 file(of firmware) and click start.
After few minutes appear text "PASS" and i disconnect from usb remove battery and open recovery mode to factory reset.
But when i go to factory reset its says "E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/stl10" and after reboot my phone keeps restarting.
Samsung logo appear and phone keeps restarting. And this is my first time doing something like this.
What I did wrong ?
How to fix it ? Please help.
EDIT: I fix it now it boot great(PHONE BOOTS)but my problem is sim card. i have card inside mobile phone but no signal. IMEI Is empty, how to fix it to get IMEI ?
Thanks!

Greetings;
Your "No Signal" / "No SIM Card" Issue seems to me that you've marked the "Clear EFS" checkBox under Odin; or maybe you messed up with some HEX Editor, or Flashed 2 Custom ROMs that really Damage that EFS).
In any case: Trying to Fix will give some headache and you will need to do some intense research...
Search Key Words: No Signal / No IMEI / No Sim Card / i9003
1) Flash your Stock ROM; (Get it from Sammobile)
2) After Flashing, enter Recovery Mode, and Perform a Factory Reset;
3) Let the Android Boot, Download ES File Explorer (Or any other Root Explorer)
4) Under your Favourite File Browser (any File Browser with Root Explorering Capabilities), go to: "" (root) Directory
5) Make a copy of "EFS" folder to your SD Card
6) Delete EFS Folder inside "" (Root Directory)
7) Boot your Device under Recovery Mode;
8) Perform Another Factory Reset
If you still Have Problems:
1) Perform a "Clean Flash" (Check my thread for further help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-sl/general/rgxhost-ddlf2-complete-tutorial-t2837212 )
2) Boot into System and Try
If this also Fails:
Search Google and YouTube for Service Mode Code (Wich can be entered through Numeric Pad).
i.e: *#7284# (this won't work for every i9003 ROM)
Anyways Youtube has some Good Videos on How to Enter Service Mode and Recover the IMEI.
You should start from there, take notes of the Service Mode "Codes" (like shown in the example above)
Follow the Video Tutorials as Described.
If none of this works. Then i'm 100% positive that either you've messed up with HEX Editor or Deleted EFS by Using Odin.
If you've done a Backup of your EFS Folder (Not the one i told you to make):
If you backed up with several different Methods, (Copy / Paste; Using Application for that, than you have a Good Chance to Recover it.
Search Google Play for Galaxy Tools. (there are a few applications that can "RECOVER EFS" from file.
If none of this works.
Send the Device to Samsung Service. That will be your last chance to make it work again.
Hope this helps any of you that suffer from this crappy issue (i still have the Problem).
Best Regards;
Richard

[Q] Rooting doesn't work? on a Spica

So I think I may be bricked....
I always had issues installing the drivers for my Spica (Portal here) on my Win7 laptop, but eventually I sorted it out so that Odin would pick it up and I got a pass from Leshak's kernel.
It was operational until I tried installing the firmware; the one that I had packaged with the kernel couldn't install Busybox. I tried a few other firmwires; an older one (which I had to re-root using the spica.ops rather than spica_jc3), CM 7 and CM 7 from this kitchen rom thing.
Those three all returned something like "Could not format system"
So assumedly recovery doesn't actually have root access, and I have tried rerooting it using Odin to no avail.
Any advice? Could it be drivers, is there an alternative PDA file I could use, am I doing a setting in Odin wrong?
Thanks!
Have you read that ? :

I never had a problem with flash spica using Odin. The drivers are compatibile with Win7 - i used Win7 64bit myself
Had a read through and it's everything I've done already!
Note: Recovery can't clear the dalvik cache or wipe the SD card either - seems like a permissions kind of thing
So maybe option "fix permission" could help.
You can find it in a advanced settings in recovery.
You can also try flash in Odin cyanogenmod 8.3 for odin. Is avaible on samdroid somewhere.

Alcatel Flash or 6042D Stock ROM, ROOTING, CWM RECOVERY

I am not a android guy but faced lot of challenge in finding the Stock ROM for Alcatel Flash or TCL 6042D or Alcatel 6042D. Found one here but having few corrupted files due to which "settings" "message" and few others didn't worked well and in fact frequent crash. Fortunately I had another 6042D to my relative and I took CWM backup of that device and would like to share with you.
Please follow the following steps and don't do otherwise, as only these settings worked for me, other settings may not work. Please Note That these steps are applicable provided that required driver for that device is installed properly.
STEP-A: Download these three files. Please add https: to all links.
1. Stock Recovery and Scatter File package.
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FSkI0UUMxNDc4WEk/view?usp=sharing
2. SP Flash Tool Software
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FRjV2dF81c1VLY1E/view?usp=sharing
3. CWM Backup package
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380Fb0NoWTNTLWhtQjA/view?usp=sharing
4. Extract the three files
STEP-B: Recovery Install. No root required
1. Go to sp flash tool folder and run it.
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FMU1NUlFZQzFVNWc/view?usp=sharing
2. Then load scatter for the device from "SPtool_stock_recovery_scatter_OT6042D" folder.
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FRFZPRElfdDAwR0E/view?usp=sharing
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FWmhXZmlDLU5oQzQ/view?usp=sharing
3. If scatter file loaded successfully then you will see "boot" and "recovery" is marked. You must unmark or deselect the boot file. Then double click the recovery file to choose a recovery. Do not choose the recovery from "SPtool_stock_recovery_scatter_OT6042D" folder.. Choose the recovery from "\clockworkmod\backup\2015-10-16.14.26.59\recovey.img". Then press download button.
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FUmtsMHI2WTRMakU/view?usp=sharing
//drive.google.com/file/d/0B-BBKAO9380FQzJLNjB2cDNiQ2M/view?usp=sharing
4. Connect your phone to Computer USB. Then turn the Phone completely OFF. Then after few seconds you will see the SP flash tool is working and sending file. File transfer rate and status will be shown in status bar.
5. If things are ok then you will see a Green Circle as "OK" symbol. And you are done with installing CWM recovery. Now turn the Phone ON.
STEP-C: Installing Stock ROM
1. Copy the extracted "clockworkmod" folder to the root directory of microSD card.
2. Turn OFF the Phone and wait for vibration. After vibration press "UP VOLUME + DOWN VOLUME + POWER" key same time and wait to see Alcatel logo. Release the buttons.
3. You should see the CWM recovery screen. Now follow the steps
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
Goto Advance then wipe dalvic cache and go back
backup or restore
restore
Choose the file from "clockworkmod\backup\2015-10-16.14.26.59"
chose yes in confirmation screen
Wait to see "restore from SD card complete"
4. reboot system now. First boot will take some time . Have patience.
Links are from Google drive. Sometimes google does not allow download of zip files. Let me know if it happens.
Thanks and Jajakallahu Khairan

Installing custom ROM on Lenovo A916 + Youtube fix + dual sim activating + IMEI fix

There are 4 parts to this post (since they are related, I put all of them here, not on separate threads / posts):
-Rom installing guide
-Fix youtube error on Android 4.2
-Activate dual SIM
-Fix missing IMEI-number(s)
ROM-installing guide
Purpose for installing this ROM is that depenging on the purchase place, there can be spyware and such on the phone. Some other modifications are there also, but I do not know what they are. Well, at least this ROM works pretty fast (at least after I uninstalled some useless software with root access).
Original ROM build version on my phone was A916_USR_S1205_141013
This new ROM is Android version 4.4.2 (Build: A916_S206-141125_baralajbi), and this is rooted already. I also found S207 ROM, but it would not install. This ROM is multilingual, of course.
Written guide source is here: http://www.needrom.com/download/lenovo-a916-multilang-root-gapps/
And video guide source here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzyYXAflmOk
Firstly you need to register and login to www.needrom.com or you will not be able to download these files.
Download "MT_6592_SP Flash Tool v5.1352.01"
http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/MT_6592_SP-Flash-Tool-v5.1352.01.zip
Download "MTK_USB VCOM Driver"
http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/MTK_USB-VCOM-Driver.zip
Download "LenovoUSBDriver"
http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/LenovoUSBDriver.rar
Download "A916_USR_S206_baralajbi" (This is the new ROM / Firmware)
http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/A916_USR_S206_baralajbi.zip
AND do the following (some of these might be in the wrong order, did the best I could):
1. Extract all the downloaded packages in to own folders.
2. Prepare your phone, and set USB DEBUGGING on:
Go to: Settings --> developer options --> usb debugging >tick<
OR if the setting is not present, go to: Settings --> about phone --> baseband version {tap this line 7 times}, come back out to settings --> developer options --> usb debugging >tick<
3. If you are paranoid, or using this guide to another model phone, backup your IMEI (this install has been tested on A916, and it does not temper with either of two IMEI, IF done correctly). This MIGHT require root, not sure. There are plenty of softwares to backup those. At LEAST write them down somewhere!
4. Turn off your phone, remove the battery, remove usb-cord (if any).
5. Install the VCOM driver if you don't have this before. Go to windows Device manager, select ANYTHING from the list, select from top drop down menu "action" and "Add Legacy Hardware" (this happens at 4:53 in the video), Select the following: Next --> Install hardware manually --> Next --> Next --> Have disk, now search the correct driver from where you extracted the VCOM-drivers
6. Install lenovo usb driver from where you extracted it (LenovoUsbDriver_autorun_1.0.8.exe). When program asks, remove the phone from usb-cable (if for some reason it is connected)
7. Go to Flash Tool folder, then RIGHT-Click on Flash_tool.exe (choose, run as administrator)
-With Flashtool select "scatter loading"-option, and point it to the "MT6592_Android_scatter.txt" from where you extracted the contents of rom package.
-Wait file to be added into Flash Tool, a long list opens below.
-Open from top drop down menu: Options --> Options --> Download / and select "DA DL All with Checksum" -option.
-Choose "Firmware Upgrade" (OR "Download only"), CAUTION! Do NOT use "Format All + Download", because you will lose the IMEI!!!
-Press Download-button when ready and AFTER pressing that connect the phone (without battery)! -->The process will start and a red progress bar will appear. It will turn yellow, grey and green. When popup appears that says "OK", just click on the X to close that window.
-You have finished.
-You can now safely disconnect your phone, insert battery and turn it on.
-The first boot can take about 1-2 mins

We must make the phone "think" it is 5.0 Lollipop, doing this is quite easy. Do the following.
1. Install ES Explorer.
2. Once downloaded and installed, Open the application and hit Menu, then tap "Settings", this will bring you to the apps Settings Menu. Once in the Settings Menu, scroll all the way down to Root Settings. In Root Settings, "check" Root Explorer (and "Mount File System" if available)
3. We look for the folder /system/build.prop
4. Open the file publisher build.prop
5. Find line:
ro.build.version.release = 4.4.2
and change to
ro.build.version.release = 5.0
6. Save the change.
7. Reboot phone
Now you can check it if it worked going to system settings --> Information about phone (or similar) --> Device information. It should say Android version 5.0, and youtube should be working. Someone said that now you can also install more apps for this phone after "upgrade" to 5.0.

Dual SIM-standby
If problems with dual SIM stanby (only one SIM is in standby), do the following:
WARNING:
This warning does NOT consern you, IF you made clean install, I am pretty sure some security program (avast?) screwed my phone, still, read on:
I tested and this activates dual sim, BUT after doing this and rebooting, phone asks "privacy protection password". I have no clue what this could be, since I have not set any. I have not found a way to skip this verification, even installing fresh ROM does not help, ONLY thing that helps is to format the phone from the software, and then install new ROM. By doing this, IMEI, phone serial and some MAC-addresses got lost. However, if you have the box still available (or on the back of the phone, under battery is a sticker), you can restore IMEI-number. There are also several apps, that will make backups of these, I would recommend several backups with different programs BEFORE activating dual SIM standby! As said before, at least write them down.
Activating dual SIM standby:
Activation steps (Read warning above, this is best to do for phones that have no installed external security programs!):
1. Make sure you have USB-debugging on, or you might get bricked phone, if anything goes wrong (unable to reflash without it on)!
2. Input *#*#5448264#*#* on the dialpad
3. A916 will automatically restart then
4. Setting --> SIM management --> Single Standby Settings --> select "Sim 1 And SIM 2"
5. Reboot phone
6. Dual SIM card / dual standby SHOULD be available!
If you have no success, check that both your SIMS are correctly inserted and there is selected both sims in the settings.
**************************
Change IMEI
If you for some reason partially bricked phone and lost IMEI, here is an guide for fixing that:
Sources:
Here is how to video --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewRaziVtBLk
And here is how to website --> http://bernardosbagofbeans.com/2014/12/restoring-imei-lenovo-tab-a7-30-a3300hv.html
Short summary for IMEI change:
Service mode, input to dialpad:
*#*#3646633#*#*
NOTE: On this A916 phone (it seems that) the IMEI 1 and IMEI 2 can NOT be the same number! Use some random generator for second one, first one is on the box and under the battery.
Setting first IMEI:
Connectivity --> CDS Information --> Radio information --> Phone 1
AT+ EGMR=1,7,”IMEI_1"
Setting second IMEI:
Connectivity --> CDS Information --> Radio information --> Phone 2
AT+ EGMR=1,10,”IMEI_2"
If lost, replace blank bluetooth, WIFI and IP-Mac adresses (and some other maybe):
Install "Device id IMEI changer Exposed" -app, and use it. It will NOT change IMEI, check it out, easy to use. You might be okay without this also.
To insert phone serial number I have no success yet. Serial number is found on the box and behind the phone battery. This phone has MediaTek MT6592-chipset, if that helps googling. I am interested about how to do that, if anyone can. There is place for SN and PN-numbers, no idea what PN-number should be, SN seems to be at the back of the phone.
In /sys/class/android_usb/android0/iSerial there is phone serial, but if I get it correctly, the operating system just writes there at boot what is in the phone firmware. Changing this, does not help, it is just overwritten over at next boot. Android system info does not show this serial, but for example "my id"-app shows it correctly. And it is still different from the original serial.
Is there a recovery like TWRP or CWM for it?
There is a link in needrom guide (~ 7 megs) --> http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/CWM_recovery1.im
No idea what to do with it

No, don't format, it will make it worse.
Are you sure that you have selected all partitions to before pressing download, and then it showed a "Success" message ? ,, you may try to repeat the process, it should work because it will restore the phone to the factory codition!

I tried this, as although twrp was never installed, i had the same issue described - on charge it would show red led, battery logo, then black screen, red led and so on til infinity, i have had it on charge for 3 days with this cycle endlessly repeating.
The flashing with sp tool went fine, at least it reported it as successfully flashing, and when i put it on charge i just got the red led, without the battery symbol, yay!
But then I pressed the power button (not for the 3 secs required to power the phone on) and now its back in the same cycle as before, and when i try to use sp tool now, i get timeout errors or another vague one that says to check the power on the device, at any rate its not letting me try to flashing process again.
As it had no charge when the process worked, i'm not sure whats going wrong now :/
any pointers? thanks!
Mine worked... I had the same problem...
I used sp flash tools.. As we load the scatter files from the firmware folders. I loaded the scatter files..
Firstly I choosed only the boot files and e recovery files not the system files from the scatter file...because the battery was not charged....as it flashed i plugged in charge for about 30 minutes... Then i unplug it.. and then flashed the remaining files from the scatter files like system...
Then again i plugged it in charge... NOW it is showing battery icon and it is charging and percentage is increasing... It was zero(0) at initial....
I found out the problem is due to lack of charge of battery...
Thank you

Thank you
Fix boot problem
Dont wary. It worked for me with B126 firmware with sp flash tool.
Use mauimeta too for fixing invalid imei error.

If your y5 2017 mya-l22 not booting, showing empty battery and loop but not charging...
Here is how to fix it...
Prerequisite:
You need SP drivers for this phone, find it on 4pda forum.
0. Make sure to disconnect the USB.
1. Download latest SP flash tool " search for it using Google"
2. Download b123 firmware from the link below , then extract it.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/77on9pxha4mzmmw/Huawei_y5_2017_MYA-L22_MT6737_C185B123_6.0.zip
3. Edit scatter file from b123 by deleting last 2 lanes,
"""
[huaqin]
CheckSum = 0xf302
"""
4. Open SP flash tool,press on Download tab, then Load the scatter file from b123 firmware ,it will take sometime.
5. Press the download button "Green arrow "
6. Now on phone, Press and hold the " down volume " button and plug the USB cable the flashing will start automatically .,,,, Keeeeeeep holding the down volume button until the " yellow" bar start to progress
Note1 : select "download only " I think it's enough , I by mistake chosen format all + download but that broke the imei and baseband :/ . There's a workaround but ". NEVER CHOSE FORMAT ALL + UPGRADE".
Note2 : make sure to make the firmware path and the scatter file path very short and of ASCII characters only to avoid problems,. For example c:/fw/scatter.txt

[Guide]How to root Samsung Galaxy C9 pro (SM-C9000)

Hi! After struggling in rooting my C9 pro (SM-C9000, TGY) due to the lack of a proper guide, I decided to provide my guide to the community.
Of course, I don't take responsibility for damages etc. etc. Read the entirety of the guide before doing anything.
Useful shortcuts: Holding down power+volume down for a couple seconds force reboots from almost anywhere. Vol up+home+power while booting boots into recovery. Vol down+home+power boots into download (odin) mode.
Step 1) Fetch the required files(sorry I can't post direct links):
Nougat 7.1.1 firmware from sammobile
Oreo 8.0 firmware from sammobile
Odin https://www.xda-developers.com/update-firmware-any-samsung-phone/
Magisk Manager https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-magisk/ (The link that says "Download the latest Magisk Manager APK here")
ADB https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
CROM Service apk from apkmirror
Step 2) Prepare the files
Unlock developer options on your phone by spamming Build Number in Settings> About Phone> Software Information. Enable USB debugging from developer options. Connect your phone to your PC via cable. Extract ADB (platform-tools) on your desktop (or other location). Extract Oreo firmware. There should be 5 files. Copy the one that starts with AP into platform-tools folder. Open the platform-tools folder. Hold down shift and right click inside the folder. Choose "Open PowerShell window here" from the context menu. Type or copy-paste
Code:
.\adb devices
to start ADB. On your phone, check "always allow on this PC" and click OK when prompted. Enter the code again and check if a device appears on the list. Then type
Code:
.\adb push AP_C9000ZHU1CSC1_CL14667562_QB22709761_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5 /sdcard/
.(Change the name of the file corresponding to yours. You can change the destination to another folder in your phone. Ex. /sdcard/download/) This will transfer the file from your PC to your phone. Do not drag and drop the file. This might corrupt it, causing a bootloop upon installiation. (Happened to me initially. Recovered & used the push command to get it to work.). Transfer Magisk Manager's apk to your phone or download it directly from your phone(you can drag and drop this one, as it won't install if corrupted(it won't corrupt)). Install Magisk Manager on the phone(Enable sideloading if asked). In the app, touch the topmost install button and touch install again in the next screen. You will have two options: "Download zip only" and "Select and patch a file". Choose "Select and patch a file", then locate the AP file you transferred to the device. Magisk manager will patch the file and generate magisk_patched.tar in /sdcard/download/. In ADB, type
Code:
.\adb pull /sdcard/download/magisk_patched.tar
This will transfer it to the platform-tools folder. Again, don't use windows explorer to transfer. That will most certainly corrupt the file.
Step 2.5) Backup
Backup your data (you can use smart switch desktop program paired with mobile app to backup most of the stuff). Remove your google account from the device.
Step 3) Install Nougat 7.1.1
Extract Nougat 7.1.1 firmware. Extract odin. Run Odin.exe (might have version in name). Click OK. Factory reset your phone (You can do so from settings or recovery mode.). After the reset, reboot into download mode. It will ask if you're sure you want to install unofficial software, choose continue (If I don't recall incorrectly, the button for that was vol up). Plug your phone into your PC. Odin log should say "added!!" and you should see your device in one of the rectangles above. Now select the tar.md5 files extracted from the 7.1.1 firmware. Click the BL button, locate the BL_etcetc.tar.md5 file, click open. It will check the md5 for a second then let you click the next button. After choosing the BL(bootloader), AP(system), CP(radio) and CSC(localization) files (USERDATA button should remain empty, HOME_CSC file has no use) make sure only F.reset time and auto reboot are selected in options. Click start to begin. After flashing, it will do another factory reset and show you the setup.
Step 4) Unlock Bootloader
Skip everything in setup, then unlock develper options and you should see "OEM Unlocking" option that was removed in OREO firmware in there. Enable it. Next transfer the CROM service apk to your device (or download it directly). Install the app. Open it. Unlock the bootloader. (This step is required because C9000 is a Chinese phone)
Step 5) Install Oreo again
Boot into download and connect to odin. You can use the reset button to empty the buttons. Now select BL, CP and CSC files from the extracted oreo firmware. For AP, choose magisk_patched.tar . Start. If the installiation fails, you didn't unlock the Bootloader properly. The phone will reboot and factory reset a couple times. When it boots up, you'll have magisk installed.
Step 6) Things to do after rooting(optional)
First of all, magisk can hide root from Google, but not Samsung. Samsung Health, Knox secure container, Maximum power saving mode and Samsung pay won't work after you root. NFC will keep turning on on its own unless you uninstall Samsung pay. A samsung package (I'm not sure about the name but I think it was security log agent) will keep sending an unblockable notification offering to unroot. Uninstall that too, and you'll have a stable experience.
Recovering from fails:
If download mode refuses to install because of unofficial binaries, the bootloader isn't properly unlocked. Wait a couple seconds and force reboot with the key combination. Since it couldn't flash the system, that should reboot back to download mode (or recovery. in that case, choose "reboot to bootloader"). Install the official firmware, unlock bootloader and try again.
If the magisk_patched.tar file gets corruped and you flash the corrupted file successfully, your device will get into a bootloop. After the install, odin orders the phone to reboot into recovery to factory reset, but since the system image is corrupted, it won't be able to boot and produce a kernel panic. This will cause the phone to reboot, which will fail and cause it to try to reboot again. Since the phone doesn't get past the splash screen, this bootloop cannot be interrupted by button shortcuts. You should wait for the battery to die out for the bootloop to end. (It should take a day at max. Wrap a towel around it to block the vibration sounds if you want) After battery gets depleted, you need to perform a quick maneuver. You should plug the phone into a power supply (preferably your computer) while holding down volume down+home+power buttons. If you do it right, it will boot into download mode. (Otherwise, it will bootloop again. Simply unplug, wait for it to stop and try again) Flash the official firmware and repatch the AP file. Just in case you run into this issue, I recommend having less than 10% charge in your phone while flashing, just to make the wait time shorter.
Important: Check your firmware's baseband version from settings before flashing. In C9000ZHU1CSC1, CSC1 is the system and U1 is the bootloader version. Compare the bootloader version to the firmware you're going to flash and make sure they match. You can't downgrade bootloader versions. Flashing a previous version will brick your phone. (Probably permanently) This shouldn't be an issue since sm-C9000 has only one bootloader version, but check it anyways just to be sure.

Yes, I did root my SM-C9000 using this method, and it is working nicely. Obviously I lost access to Secure Folder and Samsung Pay. You should be able to install the Play Store version of Samsung Health. Maximum Power Saving froze the phone the first two times I enabled it, but it's working fine now. One unexpected caveat is that mobile hotspot started to turn itself off if mobile data is enabled even though my carrier has no restrictions on using hotspot. You can't share your data connection using Bluetooth or usb cable neither. You can still use the hotspot for creating a local network. Other than those, I didn't experience any problems after rooting. While I was rooting, I did the mistake of using MTP to transfer the image and as a result my phone bootlooped for half a day but if you follow the instructions, that won't be a problem.
Of course, I don't guarantee anything and don't take responsibility, but there is no reason anything should go wrong.

Sorry for responding late. Yes, that is the exact model that I have and rooted using the method in the post. If you feel confident, you can follow trough it and root your phone. You can grab the required firmware from Sammobile. Keep in mind that after rooting some features might stop working (like hotspot and knox-related features). Good luck!
I got the same model of Samsung phone. I follow the steps but till step five, when i press open the files in odin and press start button, the odin will disappear in my computer. Then i try again and it failed. My phone shows: unsuppoted dev types. Here are my photos. Do you have any ideas? And i dunno how can i redo it again to root my phone. Would love to see helps from you, thanks!

Sorry for the late response. Searching that on the internet, it seems you might be using an old version of Odin. Please make sure you're using 3.13.1 and try again
