[Q] Rooting doesn't work? on a Spica - General Questions and Answers

So I think I may be bricked....
I always had issues installing the drivers for my Spica (Portal here) on my Win7 laptop, but eventually I sorted it out so that Odin would pick it up and I got a pass from Leshak's kernel.
It was operational until I tried installing the firmware; the one that I had packaged with the kernel couldn't install Busybox. I tried a few other firmwires; an older one (which I had to re-root using the spica.ops rather than spica_jc3), CM 7 and CM 7 from this kitchen rom thing.
Those three all returned something like "Could not format system"
So assumedly recovery doesn't actually have root access, and I have tried rerooting it using Odin to no avail.
Any advice? Could it be drivers, is there an alternative PDA file I could use, am I doing a setting in Odin wrong?
Thanks!

Have you read that ? :

10. You will then see a screen with green text, select the 1st option and restart the phone if you don't intend to do anything.
11. After restarting your phone should have a SamdroidTools and Superuser Permissions in the app drawer.
I never had a problem with flash spica using Odin. The drivers are compatibile with Win7 - i used Win7 64bit myself

Had a read through and it's everything I've done already!

Note: Recovery can't clear the dalvik cache or wipe the SD card either - seems like a permissions kind of thing

So maybe option "fix permission" could help.
You can find it in a advanced settings in recovery.
You can also try flash in Odin cyanogenmod 8.3 for odin. Is avaible on samdroid somewhere.

5.Now run Odin3 v3.07.exe (see Step 2) as an Administrator because Admin privileges is required to complete the process smoothly.
6.Now connect your Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070 with your PC using USB cable. A message will arrive under Odin’s message box in the bottom left saying “Added!!”. If you don’t get the same then you should try another USB port (try USB port located in back in your desktop PC). If that too don’t work then you should then reinstall the driver. If you successfully see the “Added!!” message in Odin then you are ready to go in next step. You should also see COM port with a number in Yellow if you successfully added your device.
7.Select these files in Odin at respective buttons from extracted I9070XXLPY firmware folder :
a)Click the PDA Button, and select the .tar file here with *code* appearing in its name
8.in Odin window, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected. Also, make sure that Re-Partition checkbox is selected, only if you are using a .pit file (see Step 7.4).

[Q] help pls problem with root on p6200

help pls problem with root on p6200
when i was root by this way i have issue
1) Install USB driver for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus to transfer files between the Android device and computer.
2) Enable USB Debugging Mode on the tablet to connect the Android device with the computer and use the Android SDK with it. [Press Menu>> Settings>> Applications. From there navigate and click on Development option and ensure the USB Debugging Mode is turned on.]
3) As the tutorial might wipe all data of the phone, create a backup. If the device is having any custom recoveries such as CWM/TWRP already installed then backup data using the recovery.
4) The device should have above 80 per cent of battery charge.
5) The Galaxy tablet should be factory unlocked and not locked to a particular carrier.
6) The tablet will lose manufacturer's warranty once it is rooted. However, users can reclaim the warranty back by unrooting the device later.
7) The recovery file and the Superuser file work only on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus P6200. Applying these on any incorrect variant might brick the device. Therefore, verify the model number of the Galaxy device by selecting Settings>> About device>> Model number.
Steps to root Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus GT-P6200 on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and Install CWM Recovery
Step-1: Download CWM recovery file for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus to the computer
File name: GT-P6200-Recovery-tar.md5
Step-2: Download CWM flashable SuperUser zip. Copy it to the SD card of the tablet
File name: Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
Step-3: Download Odin 3.07 and extract the downloaded zip to the computer
Step-4: Switch off the Galaxy tablet and boot it into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down and Power buttons together
Step-5: Launch Odin on the computer
Step-6: Connect the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the tablet. When the tablet is connected successfully, the ID: COM will turn yellow with COM port number. Also, an Added message will appear in Odin indicating successful connection
Note: If the Added message does not come then try another USB port, try the one located at the back side of the computer. If that too does not work then re-install USB driver.
Step-7: In Odin, click the PDA button and select GT-P6200-recovery.tar.md5 file
Step-8: Verify the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time checkboxes are selected in Odin. But uncheck the Re-Partition option
Step-9: Finally click the Start button in Odin to begin the installation process which would take few minutes to complete. Once the installation process is completed, a PASS message will appear under Odin indicating successful installation. The tablet will then reboot automatically
Step-10: Once the tablet boots up, turn it off. Then boot the device into recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Up and Power buttons together
Note: In recovery mode, use the Volume keys to scroll between options and use Power button to select the desired option.
Step-11: In recovery mode, scroll down to and select install zip from sdcard then select choose zip from sdcard. Now navigate to the Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip file which was earlier copied to the SD card of the tablet
Step-12: Select it using the Power button and confirm installation by selecting Yes on the next screen
Step-13: Once the installation process is completed, return to the main recovery menu and reboot the tablet by selecting reboot system now
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus should be now rooted successfully on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with ClockworkMod recovery installed. To verify the root, open the app drawer of the tablet and look for an app called SuperSU from the list. Also, to ensure the root access, install Root Checker app from Google Play Store.
when select Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip says
e:failed to verify whole-file signature
e:failed to verify whole-file signature
e:signature verification failed
thats all

Galaxy J7 Memory Problem

Hello!
Please please help me!!!!
My Problem:
After factory reset (even before) without any installation I have only 541MB from 639MB of Phone memory free, when I connect it to the PC.
SD Card memory is OK.
So I had always problems with installing for example Navigon or other programs, because the phone says alwas: Less memory, please add new memory.
So I want to root it, OR MAYBE THERE IS AN OTHER WAY TO EXENT THE MEMORY.
Because inside the phone, when I check the memory via android 5.1.1 there are more GB free.
But I cannot root it, because odin and kies cannot find the J700F Model.
So I trtied different drivers.
Please Please help, or give me some comment what I could try!!!
Best regards
Hook
There android 6.0.1 available for the j700f. If you google search... updato archives, on youre computer or laptop then type in j700f in the firmware search bar and the firmware will show up. Id try a fresh install of the firmware and see that helps. Id post a link but i havent reached 10 posts yet.. id try to update the firmware to 6.0.1 marshmallow and see if that fixes it.
Here you go ....

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many many Thnaks for helping!!!!!!!!
Yes, I read about it, but my Problem is that I also cannot use Odin.
See Post:
I have an really big problem with my phone: "SM-J700F"
I am not able to connect via odin or kies to this one.
But in windowes explorer (Win7 64bit) everything is visible.
In MTP Mode, Usb-Storage and PTP mode.
Also I can acess to the phone via the explorer.
But not with odin and/or Kies.
I tried to installit several times (Kies also Kies3)
Then I tried another win7 computer, but with same result.
The reason is, i wont to root the phone, because of low memory, even after reseting to factory.
I hope really a lot that there is an solution!!!!
--------
And additional Information:
When I connect my Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo, everything is working.
So I compared the used driver for both phone (S5 is OK), (J7 is not) in the device manager of windows.
So below you see the entries when the phone is connected:
S5 Neo - OK:
-Modem: Samsung Mobile USB Modem
-Samsung Android Phone: Samsung Android ADB Interface
-Tragbare Geräte: Galaxy S5 Neo (translated means: carryable device)
-USB Controller: Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device
Same with J700F - Not OK:
- Modem: entity is not existing ---> difference
-Samsung Android Phone: Samsung Android ADB Interface ---> is equal
-Tragbare Geräte: full_tangxun6572_we_I ---> different, is the Name whitch is visible in windows explorer
-USB Controller: USB Verbindungsgerät (translatet: USB Connection Device) ---> different (this Entity is already existing, even when no phone is connected)
So I tried to update exactly this driver with the downloaded one from Samsung. For this I had to use no compactible hardware.
When I select almost all INF driver, the right driver was visible during installation, but it could not start (code 10)
I think this is somehow the problem.
With the driver "USB Verbindungsgerät" on the windows side everything is OK. Copy to phone, explore,...
But I think that Kies and Odin don't find the acces point to the USB samsung device....the bridge to this device.
Maybe there is an possibility go give odin an additional command, where odin connect to the right port (_#0006) and HUB (_#0004) which I see in the USB Verbindungsgerät....
1. Usb debugging on
2. Oem Unlock enabled if its in dev settings,
3. Connect usb to phone and computer
4. Boot into download mode
5. Open odin
6. Select pda
7. Select the firmware file
8. Click start
9. Wait a little bit for the firmware to load
8. Firmware flashes
9. Profit
If the firmware fails to load in odin after 1 minute then you must decompress the zip file and extract the firmwares tar and then flash the tar instead of zip.
Not sure what happened to youre phone but it sounds more like at one time it was rooted and some system modifications have caused it to mess up things.. if you havent done any system modifications then its a strange bug..
In odin it will have a blue box up in the com area up at the top left of odin if its blue then you are connected. If its blue and file fails to load it must be decompressed and extracted so its just the tar file..
Look and see does even a blue box show in odin when youre connected?
Not working --- what is wrong?

Hi!
I tested it again (same prozedure on 2 computers)
1. Usb debugging on -> done!
2. Oem Unlock enabled if its in dev settings, -> done!
3. Connect usb to phone and computer -> done!
4. Boot into download mode -> done!
5. Open odin -> done!
The Problem is, that ODIN cannot find the phone.
There is nothing below "ID:COM" no entity!
So I cannot go forward.
I treid on 2 PCs. Same result.
But interesting ist that from windows I can acces to the phone.
But not via odin and Kies.
Maybe you can give me information whitch driver should be used in the device manager?
Interesting is that Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo is working with this procedure....
I am really sad, and I hope so much that you can help!!!

How to Root s920t on a mac, without installing windows?

I have been derailing the internet trying to figure out some way to root my device with and without usb connecting it to my mac. Frankly, as far as I can tell my mac and my phone won't support mass storage of android so odin etc seems out of the question. I just want to find a way to get my phone rooted (tried kingroot and it asked for computer and I've a mac so there you have it). Please if anyone could help me find a simple, maybe even complicated way to root my s6 (it's updated fully).
Define without USB? Like no OTG USB Storage or no USB cable? If that's the case then you're asking how to root the device without a computer which afaik with Samsung isn't an easy deed (perhaps not possible).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, you do this at your own risk. Js.
However.. If you can get it up and going on your Mac then try out Heimdall (the Mac/Linux Odin alternative some whiz managed to reverse engineer).
P.S. I have Linux but I've seen Heimdall is available on Mac, unfortunately I can't step you through installation.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118100
Go to the TWRP.ME site and locate your device and download the latest TWRP image (should be 3.1.1.0)
https://dl.twrp.me/zerofltetmo/
Download dm-verity encryption disabler (without this, it's likely things won't go as planned, it ensures you haven't modified system files etc)
https://androidfilebox.com/miscellaneous/dm-verity-and-forced-encryption-disabler/
Choose a Root method (personally I prefer Magisk but for a first time superuser provider I would recommend SuperSu:
https://download.chainfire.eu/1114/SuperSU/SR1-SuperSU-v2.82-SR1-20170608224931.zip
[ PLACE PHONE IN DOWNLOAD MODE: Hold VOL-DOWN + HOME + LOCK, then press VOL-UP ]
1. Go to Utilities Tab
2. Click Detect Device; if it is not detected you have a problem (find fix then go to Step 3)
3. Output reads Device detected; beneath Download PIT save the file somewhere (e.g. Documents/s6.pit)
4. Go to Flash Tab
5. Beneath Options > PIT, browse for the .pit file you saved in Step 3
6. On the right hand side, beneath Partitions (Files) click > Add, on the left change the partition name to Recovery (where it will ask for a recovery.img file)
--- READ STEPS 7-9 BEFORE YOU DO THEM ---
7. Select the TWRP.img you downloaded earlier
8. Click Start, pick your phone up (be careful not to disconnect it)
9. AS SOON AS THE SCREEN GOES BLACK, HOLD: VOL-UP + HOME + LOCK
--- READ STEPS 7-9 BEFORE YOU DO THEM ---
10. If done correctly (and your bootloader is unlocked, and your RA lock is disabled) you will be in TWRP Recovery. Swipe to allow system modifications (you can always come back here later, you asked for Root so this will suffice).
11. Use Finder (File Browser) to navigate onto the phone from your Mac and copy SuperSU and no-verity onto the Internal Storage
12. From TWRP (on the phone) tap on the Install tab and if you aren't able to see the two .zip files you copied over, you're probably in the / directory; navigate to /sdcard
13. Tap on the no-verity.zip first, continue through, don't worry about using multiple .zips just install and go back when it is complete
14. Tap on the SuperSU.zip. Continue through, same as previous step, this time backing out to the TWRP menu and tap on the Reboot Tab > Choose System
15. If prompted to install anything (TWRP) untick the boxes and tap do not install.
16. Your device should be rooted. Don't turn the phone off, don't panic. SuperSU can cause the first one or so boots to end prematurely and the device will reboot (don't be alarmed if it cuts out).
Note:
On the odd chance that your device is stuck in a bootloop or you are worried about 'bricking' the phone, the only way that can happen (afaik) is if you disconnect during important installations such as during the Odin/Heimdall flash process or TWRP (under certain circumstances, even during Odin/Heimdall you can normally pull through). Otherwise, you'll just end up with a soft-brick (99.9% of the time this is the only thing that happens)

Update Samsung Galaxy On5 SM-G550FY (non-Pro) to Nougat Pro firmware - Detailed

As one of the previous threads in this section mentioned the same (that On5 Pro firmwares work on non-Pro On5 models also), I can confirm that it works on Samsung Galaxy On5 SM-G550FY (2015 non-Pro) model. The downloaded firmware was a latest On5-Pro Nougat version that I could find on https://updato.com but works with old non-Pro On5 model as well.
This post is "only" meant to chalk out the complete process.
Detailed instructions for people who've not rooted their Samsung devices before:
Steps to replicate the process:
Preparation for rooting first:
Make sure your phone battery is charged to 70% or more
Backup your device data
Make sure you install Samsung's Android USB Driver for Windows on your PC, if you haven’t already. >> Official link
Download the latest .tar image of TWRP for Galaxy On5 (it is compatible) >> Official link
Download and Unzip the latest version of Odin version >> Official link
Download the latest Super SU >> Official link
Now follow the instructions:
First you should enabled Developer options. If Developers Option is hidden, go to Settings > About Phone > Built Number (tap on it for 5-8 times)
Enabled USB Debugging and OEM unlock.
Install Android USB Drivers on your PC.
Connect the phone to you PC using the USB cable and copy the SuperSU.zip file into any directory of your internal storage.
Turn off your Samsung Galaxy Boot the device into Download Mode as follows: press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together.
When a warning triangle appears on screen, press Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Launch Odin.exe by click right and run as administrator on computer.
Connect your phone to the computer. Odin will automatically detect your phone and show the “added" message.
In Odin, tap AP button and find the TWRP Recovery file you downloaded earlier and select it.
Uncheck Auto-reboot in the options tab in Odin
Click Start in Odin.
Once the root installation is done, your phone will reboot and soon a PASS message with a green background appears in the left-most box at the very top of Odin.
Remove the battery and then re-insert it again.
Boot into “recovery mode”, by pressing and hold Volume Up + Home +Power buttons simultaneously
In the TWRP mode Swipe to Allow Modification
Tap ‘Install’
Select Storage and scroll to location of SuperSU.zip file.
Select the .zip file and swipe the bar to confirm. This will start flashing the .zip file.
Once the flashing finished you will see the ‘Reboot System’ option, click it to reboot your device.
After reboot, if the SuperSU App exist on your Application Menu on your smartphone it means you’ve successfully rooted your device.
Can take further help from here (works for this On5 model as well) >> https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...nt/updated-root-instructions-samsung-t3747435
After rooting:
You can remove the bloatware first using any "root uninstaller" app from the Play Store. Be careful as to not uninstall any vital system apps.
Now go to >> https://updato.com and download the latest On5 SM-G550FY firmware (>1GB) by searching "On5" and sorting firmwares by date and selecting the region (for my model make the region was India (INS) >> You can use this Working link directly, as well
The above version is an On5 Pro Nougat version but works in old On5 models as well.
Final Steps:
Now again launch Odin.exe by click right and run as administrator on computer.
Connect your phone to the computer. Odin will automatically detect your phone and show the “added" message.
In Odin, tap AP button and find the firmware file you downloaded earlier and select it. You might need to first extract the firmware file.
Click Start in Odin.
The phone will reboot and you'll have updated your Lollipop/Marshmallow device to Nougat.
