XT1548 Virgin Mobile - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the virgin mobile variant of the moto g3.
I was able to unlock boot loader, install twrp, and flashed cm.
Everything went well, except I lost service. I restored my backup and all seemed good, but ended up phone calls were not working. Long story, but Ended up flashing factory image and everything is back up and normal. So at least we can always restore, that's good news!
Question is, has anyone else with virgin mobile flashed a ROM yet?

I am getting my VM variant this Tuesday. Im so excited to hear that you were able to unlock the bootloader. I wasnt sure it would be possible. I take it you were also able to root as well?
As for your question I think the reason you were getting no service is because there are currently no Roms for the CMDA variants *YET*, only for the GSM variants. If you look at this post someone has requested certain information and he said it should be easy enough to get cyanogen to work on the VM variant.
Again I am so glad to hear about unlocking the bootloader. How were you able to do it? I looked at the list on Motorola's website and it seemed as unlocking was only for the gsm variant. Thank you
EDIT: PS this user also has the same results as you.

I used motos website to unlock bootloader, it was very simple.
And yes rooted by flashing SuperSU in recovery.
I will check out the posts you linked later today.
This phone is very nice BTW!

I have posted the info requested

Oh I know about this thread. Did you flash the Sprint version? You have Virgin Mobile right? I wasn't sure if we could flash the Sprint version.
Edit: Oh OK so it is the Sprint one we flash. Awesome

Does gsm will work on xt1548?

Hey all.
I've been reading, researching, and trying for days to flash osprey v3.0.0 TWRP. Still no luck.
My PC (Win 8.1) will not recognize the phone when plugged in via fast boot mode. Powered on, it's fine.
The Moto drivers are installed, minimal ADB, and phone settings are correct. Do I need the "full version" of the SDK suite?
Can someone go into detail or a direct topic link on how do get this done successfully and what you did?
After this is in place, I'll be golden
This is the VM version. Still on Lolipop.
Thanks so much!

So is CM working yet? I'm thinking about picking up this VM version tomorrow.

Still patiently awaiting help/suggestion/solution for this above question... I'm stuck until I can get past this point! (

If you get the Data Done Right version of the XT1548 from Walmart, then you will have data issues with all custom ROMs. Apply the APN settings from my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65987522&postcount=1254 to fix data issues with the Data Done Right variant. Hopefully the APN is merged in with later builds of CM13 so we won't have to manually enter the info in after every flash.
@bjzapp Follow the tutorial in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHbbWE2hsgU
Download the latest version of the TWRP recovery though. Also, after you get a successful recovery flash via fastboot, do not restart the phone. Instead, boot straight into the recovery from the bootloader on the phone. If you don't do this, the recovery will get overwritten with the stock recovery after you reboot.

[Q] Wont recognize SIM card after flashing rom on MOTO G PLEASE HELP!

Hello, i recently thought about flashing a rom on my phone, i did all the basic stuff unlock boot loader, root etc but when i put the file on my device i got stuck in a bootloop, so i panicked a little and went on to google to find a STOCK ROM for the moto g. I found one and flashed that instead, it did infact save my device and i was so happy at the point, but then i noticed that at the top on my task bar it said i had no signal on BOTH Sdcards when infact this phone only has 1!? (my o2 simcard was in at the time) Anyway i went into setting and it had above he wifi setting "Dual SIM settings" which i have never even seen before. Anyway i clikced on that and it says 'SIM1 Disabled' and below it says 'SIM2 Disabled' Also my Mobile DATA has vanished to. All this worked before i went and screwed up my device. Im kind of in a panic and really dont want to loose this phone :crying: :crying: Please can anyone help get me back my signal and data, other then that everything else is working normal.

You have flashed a single sim variant of the stock ROM on your device, find the dual sim version for your phone here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14
Also, of course your data has gone as your phone has undergone a reset and firmware flash
All of them are not for 4.4.4 or does that not matter?

Absolutely. From experience, you must flash the dual sim variant. Unfortunately, there is 4.4.4 available, but only for the States. You might PM me the OTA update package and I'll be able to help.

Screwed up my SM-G930VL, please help!!

Hi,
I bought a SM-G930VL (tracphone branded, but verizon compatible) galaxy s7 for a pretty good price, however the advanced and wifi calling were not options (even though verizon told me they were before I purchased). I decided I would try to flash the VZW firmware from sammobile through odin, but it did not work. It originally gave me the ext4 error, but then flashing the csc fixed that. I then flashed the AP file, but it finished very quickly (about 3.5 min) and now will only boot into recovery when powered up.
Is there anything I can do to save my phone, or have I permanently screwed it up?
Thanks
holy sh*t got it working. Flashed the BL, AP, CP, and CSC files and it booted to welcome screen!!
Thanks all (and hopefully this helps anyone in the future who runs into this predicament)
It is currently checking wifi connection so hopefully all is well!
Edit: Is there a way to edit the title? That way this could be maybe help the next person rather than getting ignored.

Hi, want to ask a few questions. were you able to fully flash the Verizon firmware to this model with no issues? The phone is also supposed to be factory unlocked per my connections with reps.
Did the phone fully change to a SM-G930V, showing in settings and in Odin mode?
Yes I was able to fully flash Verizon and I have working wifi calling and advanced calling. In settings it shows up as V not VL as well. As far as I understand it is the exact same hardware just different software running on it

Great, i flashed one yesterday for a friend via teamviewer and even changed the model as SM-G930V in odin mode. So I guess due to this the phone has now a locked bootloader and ended up being converted to a full Verizon galaxy S7. Only thing it did not take his Metro PCS sim card. Unsure it would take any other carrier sim cards.

It seems it was as it allowed me to flash the verizon bootloader and full firmware. Normally tracfones only allow to flash part of a firmware and rejects all bootloader partitions.
Is bootloader locked after flash g930v firmware. Or can I flash back to straight talk?

There were reports of someone flashing the phone to an SM-G930U (Unlocked US S7). So apparently they are interflashable. I however have not gone to that extent as am yet to get my one to thinker with. I flashed previously to a SM-G930V via teamviewer for a friend. You can search the threads and verify.

You probably figured it by now, but MetroPCS is the only retarded carrier that locks SIM to IMEI. So if you want to use MetroPCS on any other phone than the one you currently have it on, you need to call customer service and give them your new phone's IMEI. Then your new phone will start working. If you want to switch back to your old MetroPCS phone you need to call them again and give them that IMEI, which is retarded. I don't know why they do that but it's really annoying if you frequently switch phones.
I have a 935V (S7 Edge Verizon) and now have 935U ROM on it using Tracfone. Initially I have Tracfone's Verizon service but I wanted the freedom to easily move from one phone to another so I converted it to a Tracfone-GSM(ATT) and been using it in my Verizon S7 Edge (with 935U ROM) and iPhone SE without any problem.

Could you add links to everything you used? I have the same model using straight talk and I want to be able to have a backup firmware to flash in case I ever mess up my phone (which seems to be a trend). And have you had any issues at all? Like, does everything work okay?

Running RETUS on a MetroPCS Ocean device

Last night as part of rooting, I was getting issues with the MetroPCS Ocean firmware with the update failing message. I took a look at the RETUS firmwares and saw the latest so I took a chance and was able to flash the Retail version with no problems, booted up and 'worked out of the box' so to speak. It is also lighter on the features since it doesn't include the MetroPCS apps. I am not going to try rooting with this one, but it seems to be quite stable and an a little faster if that makes any sense.
Your mileage may vary!
You assume any risk by attempting the same thing on your device, but I figured it would be something someone would be interested in knowing.
I'm running MetroPCS software on a Amazon device
I'm running Cricket software on a MetroPCS device &
I'm running Amazon software on a MetroPCS device
Cons on both I've come across so far.
Cricket software on a MetroPCS device I get Boot screen says Bad key in top left corner before loading the device.
Amazon software on a MetroPCS device I get a Boot screen says untrusted device before loading the device.
Pros is they both work great.

Since you did that when you have the time, try to go back a lower build or your OG Build and check if you still have data and sim accses. I ask because (I have a RETUS) and since I flashed the latest one available "PPO29.114-108 May 1 Security Update" can't go back to OG Build it came with without losing data and sim detection. Something was updated in that build that even if you flash back it broke that. I even flashed the modem to check but no still no data or SIM detected at all. Only all fine in the most recent build.

Flashing a Carrier or Retail ROM won't ever unlock a Carrier Lock device. If it were that simple don't you think we will ever have this issue. Hell the term network lock won't even exist in a perfect world.

And yes there are several Motorola Devices that are firmware interchangeable. Been doing it since the first Moto X times. Only benefit from this procedure no bloatware and faster updates that's it. Oh and better performance since it doesn't include crappware

PSA. If you flsh Cricket, Metro etc Roth the RETUS Latest firmware you won't be able to go back to you LG firmware. That firmware updates the Bootloader and that preventa going back to a lower workifn version. You can doing what I posted earlier by while flashing back to OG Firmware skip flashing modem and fsg bins and don't execute the modem erase commands.

Ok I bricked my phone via magisk update, I was on MetroPCS variant of Ocean firmware. I'd like to know as well, I got 2 of these Moto G Power 7's from Metro PCS and would love a stock ROM without all the metro bloat. Not sure on Metro's unlocking policy if they will unlock it and what bands this all has if it has CDMA or is it GSM only?

You probably won't find one cheaper. $10 ones are ones that give you a code to unlock. Unlocking a MetroPCS/TMO G7Power with the Server unlock app requires a person to remotely connect to your phone and edit your NV files. Currently they are changing the imei to a different model phone that they can generate the unlock codes for. Since they are using a different model phone imei, activating on Sprint Network could be an issue since Sprint is picky as to what phones they put on their network.
If I flash "retail" firmware on a TMO Sim locked Moto G7 power will it ask me for an unlock code that I don't have? Bought it on eBay and TMO says its eligible to unlock but refuses because I'm not the original owner. Bootloader is unlocked.
EDIT: Figured out my issue. Was my fault. Flashed the RETAILUS firmware on my MetroPCS model.
Thanks OP!
Also to add to this, the Metro model is NOT supposed to be compitable with Verizon due to lack of CDMA.... Well Magically the phone now supports CDMA so it has a CDMA radio in it!

LG V50 Stock ROM

I have a Sprint Unlocked LG V50. Can I flash stock ROM on it with no network lock to make it work with any network?
Especially Metro/ TMobile
If so.. where can I get this ROM and how do I make sure I have the right one?
I want to know the same thing. So dumb that its sold as an unlocked phone but still wont work with other carriers.
My V50 sprint unlocked was working with mint mobile after editing the APN but ever since I updated to Android 10 it no longer allows me to ad an APN, Delete one, or edit.
I thought this thread was going to be really helpful but after trying everything my APN settings are still grayed out. Sprint, LG, TMobile, and Mint mobile (my provider) all dont have any idea what to do about it.
I have already tied "##3282#" and got my correct "Service Code" from the Ebay seller to attempt the what l1lpiggy says to do in that thread, but that didn't change anything, APN settings are still greyed out.
Iam also using LG V500N SK Telecom korean version and i was able unlook bootloader but was not able to install stock firmware.. Let me see wheather i can try custome Rom..
Is there any option to update to stock by stock in zip format after unlocking bootloader like how we install custom roms..

What was the error message you received?
Where's the "mod" on this forum. This doesn't belong here.

This phone is dead. I'm welcome to any and all posts here just to know that there are people who still use this phone.
I went back to the V30 just because of how abysmal the development is here.

Question Unlocked Boost Variant on TMO Says no network available

Looking for any help I can get.
Have a Boost variant of the Moto G Stylus 5G. I got it unlocked and I also OEM unlocked it and I am able to flash.
Using a working TMO SIM card
After getting the phone setup it says "Mobile network is not available" and will not connect to the t-Mobile network. I am technically a sprint customer but have converted to using TMO sims. I'm not sure if this is making it more difficult.
I've tried flashing with RETUS and TMO firmware. RETUS worked but I still had the same problem, but for some reason the software customer is still showing boost. After flashing to the TMO it got stuck booting on the "M" "Powered by android" screen. I reflashed to the original BOOST just to get it going again.
Any ideas?
I am able to connect to T-Mobile now and use 5G data. Calling still does not work.
I also got a Boost variant that I unlocked for TMO. Everything seemed to work for me on the original Boost firmware but I started flashing the TMO firmware and later the RETUS one. Looks like I'm hitting the anti rollback and I can't get anything to boot other than RETUS.
How were you able to flash the Boost firmware again?
Thanks.

You were able to get it fully functional? Voice and Data? I'm wondering if me being a sprint customer but on TMO network is messing something up.
I used https://kfhost.net/flashfile to create a bat file and just ran the file.
The boost splashscreen comes up after the RETUS flash though which makes me wonder.

I used the batchs cript from this thread that basically does the same thing, but I still get no boot using TMO or Boost after flashing to RETUS. And same issue for me. I now get that Boost splashscreen which never popped up on Boost firmware. The software channel even says Boost now instead of DISH which is what was said on the Boost firmware.

I did a brief test before I went back to flashing different firmwares, but yes, everything seemed to work for me. I just made sure the APN was correct and updated carrier information.
The only things not working for me was accelerometer and gyroscope which is why I'm trying to flash back to Boost firmware.
Thank you for the reply. I'm not sure what to try next.
