Wilson Antenna and S4 Active. Help needed - General Questions and Answers

So I bought this: http://www.discountcell.com/cellular/pn/samsung_301128 antenna for my father in law. What's included with this doesn't plug directly into the S4 active external antenna port. I did some reading and found that I need an patch lead as discussed in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2442569 problem is that the antenna I bought doesn't match the connector of the patch lead. Is there another adapter I need? I'm willing to buy whatever is needed to make this antenna work with the s4 active. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help with this.

i dont know anything about this, but if you show me what the connectors look like, i may be able to tell you what they are to help look for a cable, unless you already know what there called.
once you know the technical name for the connectors needed, should just be a matter of putting that into google and hope there is one available.

Xda charging slot loose

My Xda/Qtek's charging slot is loose or bent and as such I am now not able to charge it or synchronise at all. Brought to the repair shop and was told that I need to change the whole mother board as the slot is attached
to the board and it is as good as getting another one than to fix it. Seems to me that the 2 pins in the centre or the slot is bent and I cannot get the connection on when I plug the charger in unless I twist the charger to one side I then get the yellow/orange light which indicate charging.
Appreciate if someone could help fix it. Cheers.
The charging socket is part of the mainboard, I have had this in the past with ipaqs, I got a jewellers eyepiece and a very slim pin and managed to get them lined up again, I am sure there was a post today about this very problem.
Thanks for info. I managed to strip apaart the xda and then soldered the
loose charging slot. It works fine now and I save having to pay for the replacement of the main board which is not worth it and also the service
costs.
help for newbie pls?
Hi, I currently have the same problem. I also want to try the solution that cruisin-thu suggested, unfortunately, I'm not much of a techie and I'm afraid that I might damage the mainboard if I don't know which parts to move. Does anyone know of any sites that have a picture of the xda II mainboard? I'd really appreciate the help.

Serial port dislodged..I-mate pc phone please help

G'day all
I'n need of desperate help as my serial port is stuffed, can someone please tell me if the male part of the connector is available to buy anywhere?
I know this is a tricky soldering job but a good friend has offered to help
Also I notice the rear backpack connector appears to route thru the same pins, does anyone know if this could be used to charge and sinc the phone, and if a connector is available.
Sorry for the gimme questions but I've searched all this site and many more with no luck.

I have the touch pro, but I can not find any antenna port!
my tilt has one so I would be shocked if the fuze doesn't have one but I thought that I would ask before I upgrade my phone
hopefully somebody can confirm this tomorrow before I head out and pick one up. Thanks

Not unless it's well hidden - you have to take something off that's not supposed to be taken off by the user normally. Because I see nothing but the mini-usb port, and I'm assuming that's not what you are looking for.
no port to directly hook up an external antenna. You must use a repeater/amplifier system similar to this: http://www.wilsonelectronics.com//Products.php?Type=A
Without an antenna port I guess that I will wait for the HD to come out and import it once the 3G is cracked
I don't think the HD will have one as well.

[Q] usb sync charger cable unknown

HI! I'm new in this forum and I'd like to say THANKS for any help U could offer.
I purchased a TRITON [GT-193000] Chinese made copy [read CLONE] of the SAMSUNG GALAXY S III. I'm more than happy to share any experience or techical detail U may be curious about, but I have a question from those who may know the correct answer. I haven't been able to find out what kind of USB sync charging cable is used in most Chinese made cell phones. The package came with 2 batteries but just a short usb cable and I need to order more but I was unable to.... Any help, guys?
THANKS anyway.

Generally it will be a standard micro USB cable, even if it is a clone as that is the standard with all mobile devices with the exception of Apple's offerings. You could always try cables from your other devices assuming you have more, as it's unlikely that a clone would add complication by having proprietary charger...

Hello,
Its a normal micro hdmi plug, in future all phon's will have one like that.
Its the same cable as HTC phones etc..
But a have also a question for you:
I have the same phone as you but cannot get Skype working on it, do you have Skype and if you have how did you make it work please?

convert micro USB to USB C and add a larger battery

Ok, I have a realme 1 that is dying, I have posted on the new phone thread but I do not expect to get a phone that meets my needs better in all aspects.
**What phone should I buy next?** -- Not sure what device to buy? Ask here!
Hi everyone, This thread is a continuation of this thread. This is here so you can discuss what your next phone/tablet should be, if you're not sure what to pick. Also, if you need advice as to which device is better than another, then feel...

The issue is that the micro USB connector is getting worn down and the battery discharges in a few hours. Even new I used to have days on which my battery 3950mAH would be exhausted by the end of the day.
I want to do the following thing
Replace the micro USB port with a USB C port. physically my phone is a plastic fantastic and I plan to carve/shave out the few mm with a knife/scalpel and fill any voids with a combination of expoy putty and expoxy glue. My problem is how to do the internal wiring. I have done some soldering but nothing on a PCB. The most fine work I have done is patch speaker wires. Every repair person i have talked to says that it is absolutely impossible to do. I would appreciate it if someone could walk me through it.
Realme has now released phones with a 6000 mAH battery, So I propose to separate the back cover, carve any obstructions, create any posts needed with epoxy putty, and fix the battery with hot glue. Again the problem is the connections. I realize that the thickness of the phone will increase due to this and plan to fill the gap with epoxy and hot glue.
Yes, I realize that my phone is going to be a Frankenstein's monster. As long it works well I don't care.
I would appreciate it if someone could guide me

You know you can get a USB C chip for really cheap (compatible with the processor)? All youd have to do then is attach the ribbon cables, enlarge the port hole and test to see if power passes through with a cable. Make sure not to use too much glue, however, because when the phone heats up the glue may melt and run over the motherboard, resulting in a ruined phone.

There is actually a YouTuber that I conveniently forgot the name of... But he does DIY projects like this, like adding a headphone jack to iPhone 7s and stuff. Call if modding. But his parts come from Chinese marketplaces. I would suggest you research a USB C component chip. Not sure how old your phone is but they are basically universal depending on the OS supported hardware (like Android 9+ supporting QC3.0).
Thank you again for replying. I do not need quick charge. It came with 2A 10 W chip, and that's enough. Cannot I connect the USB C port to the input on my phone. Most USB C implementations are USB 2.0, SO that SHOULD be 4 pins and 5v at max 2 A.
Problem is that that the repair centers are assuring me that is not the case.
