Phone not charging like it used to after latest updates. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

My phone is at "OG7" and now when I plugin my IQ anker car charger, the phone display a message that I should use the changer that came with it. Didn't see this with the older OS. Also it doesn't charge as fast as it used to with the IQ anker charger.
So did samsung or version set the phone not to charge faster with non smaung chargers?
Any thoughts?

They did something. I also have gotten this message frequently and my quick charger in my car now takes 8 hours to charge when it used to only take an hour. I thought mu phone was damaged but then my wife's is doing the same and now this thread...

I'm talking to Verizon on this now. Doubt I'll get anywhere.

So Verizon says to fix this is to do a factory reset and this will allow the phone to charge faster with a 3rd party changer. this sucks.

They are probably just reading from a script. That's their answer for anything. "Oh, you dropped you phone in a volcano. Just do a factory reset" I'll give it a shot, though I will remain sceptical.

Don't reset your phone. Waste of time. Talked to verizon again and he said Samsung definitely changed something with the update. He's heard of this issue. He said just samsung and verizon charges are the only was that work right. He said something was changed but not idea what.

verizon is sending their turbo car charger for 34.99 and giving me a 20$ credit.

Can't charge after updating to JB

Hello,
This is the first time I am using Android so please understand that I know basically nothing about it.
So I received a refurbished note 10.1 (software 4.0.4) with about 50% of battery left. I played with it like 3 hours and then updated to 4.1.1 (or 4.1.2), battery went down to like 10% so I plugged the charger in and kept playing. After further 30mins I realised my battery still goes down (8%). I had a quick look in Google and many people are saying that after updating to JB tablet takes very long time to charge or doesn't charge at all. I thought mine will charge slowly so I left it overnight plugged in. I woke up with 7%...
I tried charging it with a USB cable connected to a TV, in the first hour it charged to 8 and after that (about 3h) it stayed the same.
So the question is: Is it the charger, software or is it just a faulty tablet?
What I would like to try is to downgrade it back to 4.0.4 but I am not sure how to do that (or if it is safe) with such low battery level. Is it possible to downgrade when tablet is off?
Thank you

Factory reset or reflash the firmware JB you flashed .
But i would return to the seller has you have no evidence JB is the problem as you only had the tablet 3 hours .
Flash any firmware via Odin min requirements 30% battery to be safe .

Have you tried charging from an actual power outlet I don't believe that you can charge them via tv, pc or any other device only via an actual power outlet.
As far as roling it back to ics I believe you would have to flash it but don't take my advice on that one, maybe someone else could advise?
Also no I would upgrade or down grade firmware without a fully charged battery.
I found that mine was charging worse after jb update I actually factory reset it and its a tiny bit better, I still find though that if I want to charge it fast its best to turn it off and let it charge, I also noticed that the biggest culprit for draining the battery atleast on my device is Skype just having it running in the background drains it heaps.

Yeah.. but what if I can't charge it?
Can I factory reset (I believe that's via recovery mode?) when battery is almost dead?

I left it charging the whole night using the included charger (It looks like an original one) and as I said it only dropped by 1% (tablet was off the whole process)
From what I know it does charge through TV's and stuff but it just is a lot slower.
And I have no apps running, wifi off, gps off - everything off. RAM cleared
// After about 3 hours of charging through a TV it went up by 1%...
I left it charging through a TV because if a normal AC didn't help I thought it may be something to do with the charger.

Factory reset is in settings under personal heading its the backup/reset tab obviously make sure you back up your stuff first or you will loose it, this won't role it back to ics but might help. Also I have never found that any of my android devices charge via another Device only wall outlet they do maintain the power level there at but don't really charge.
Do you have another ac adapter I youncould use to test with try a different ac adapter if possible.
charging cable likely cause
I have had very bad luck with factor Samsung cables.. I would Use a different usb cable and wall plug usb brick.. make sure its output is equal to or above the original Samsung charger .
This is likely why the device was returned to begin with. As most of us know refurb devices are usually just open box customer returns. Often are just factory reset and resold .

It might work check the voltage to see if its the same and use your usb cable, they use mini usb I believe. Thats the other thing the usb cable that you using might be stuffed. The cable on galaxy tab 7 looks 100% but it doesnt work at all, as erica_renee said samsung chargers aren't the greatest.
I use a Belkin charger much stronger than samsung original
From what I've read, one review says that there is no way to use a S3 charger. + it has 1A
Apparently note uses different pin configurations..
I have no idea what to do now... :<

Right, before I get one, at the moment Im trying to use iPhone charger with the standard samsung cable. I showed a red cross (what I would expect it to show). I then tried to hold the volume up while plugging it in (Ive read on one forum that it helps, not sure what it does but worth trying) and it jumped up by 1% - no red cross now... I have no idea what Im doing or why no red cross is visible.. ehh
//edit:
Guys.. this is working!
Another 1% in 15 mins.. It may not be much but believe me, Ive been waiting for that 1% for a long time
I'll give an update soon
//
Further 15-20 mins and it increased by 2%. Well, yay! I guess

Not good where did you get it, does it have warranty make em fix it and give you another charger
Hi all,
last night my n8000 stop charging. ..
I even tried the different chargers and also tried to charge thru pc...
When I connect with charger the beep sound come but nothing more and cross sign appears on battery icon.. and worst of all my n8000 not even recognized by pc even...
Any idea ?
EDIT : changed the cable and everything returns to normal
Yes, return under warranty... This is not right. It sounds like the usb connector might have a problem...

Phone says it's charging but won't.. the animation icon that indicates....

When trying to plug my verizon s3 galaxy into usb cable to charge, the charging indicator comes on... but I don't think it's actually charging because there is usually an animation indicator in the top bar that shows it's charging. It's been 3 hours and I'm at 0%. I can power my phone on long enough to see it's still on but it will power off because it's still not really charging (or charging at all?). Unplugged, phone won't power on of course. Plugged in, I just have power on for about a few minutes. I've had this when it was released, so since 2012 I have not have to replace any batteries or cable.
I've tried using a seperate usb cable charger, and same thing. What could be the issue? I want the usb port repair to be the last resort so please help! So here's my plan so far:
-contact cleaner/gas duster (is there a difference between the two?)
-replace batteries.
Any troubleshooting/diagnosis I could do myself to find out the problem? Anything else I should do?
I'm not the most tech-savvy person so please be nice and thorough. Lol.
-----update------
I don't want to do factory reset because I don't want to lose my personal data. My phone now says 8% but drains right away the moment I use it. My laptop won't read it to allow me to transfer pics, vids, other data. I installed a battery current widget witch reads:
3.22V (which is good since the battery is 3.8V)
103.3F internal temperature
and 0mA ----> So this is the root of my problem. Why is it reading 0mA? But very slowly charging to around 8% when powered off?
Try Factory reset. If that doesn't work, it could be the charging port has come lose from the solder/logic board.

Could be one of two things, either the battery itself or its the charging port. I've seen it on my gfs S3 which is up to the latest NE1 ota and she has had it replaced by verizon 3 times already and it's weird because it works fine on a charger in the house but in the car or a portable charger won't work

Haven't tried my car charger.. but doubt it would work since I already tried two different usb chargers. Going to try to do a cleaning with some aerosol duster and alcohol now...
I read something about clearing the cache partition at bootup ... but it doesn't sound like I have a 'software' malfunction, does it?
Thanks for the response. So your gf's was a broken charger port?

No, VZW never really figured out what it was. They just assume it's the phone. But it's been the same issue with each one. It's the OTA update that's causing issues I have a feeling, if only big red knew what the heck they were doing it probably wouldn't even do that at all. You could clean the cache partition. Not sure if it would work, trial and error there I guess

Let's see.... buy decent non OEM battery, $30 and up.
Fix charger port AT LEAST $70 - $150.
Wireless charging kit plus the convenience of wireless charging For $10-$15. I'm definitely gonna do it. Lol.
I've read a gazillion threads on this problem and none have suggested what I mentioned. Hope people will find this thread handy.
Man I love technology. Maybe I SHOULD make effort to understand it better.
Thanks all for your input.

20k is already out maybe that will help. Also you can try using another charger just to see if it makes a difference. I do remember when I first bought Nexus 5x which was also made by LG, the battery percentage would stay at a certain number and would only change after the reboot. It went away after few days.

I understood. I don't remember other users on 20i_un report similar issue as you. I personally don't use original chargers as I use my phones for a short time and want all accessories to be new. I have charge my LG G5 which I also bought on eBay as many other people did, using QC 2.0 charger and haven't seen any battery percentage issue. If you can find another QC 2.0 or 3.0 charger just to test your phone, then it will help to see what is the problem.

non responsive s6

Hello, my niece brought me an faulty s6 and asked if i could fix it. Since i used to repair peoples phones a few years ago.
When i got it, it was completely dead, except a white light of doom on the led bulb when i tried to boot in DLmode/recovery. That later stopped lighting too. I then tried to change the battery for a new one. It didn't change a thing, so i thought it might be the charging port. So i got a qi charger...
So here we are, the qi charger tries to charge it (i can see the light animation for it). The phone gets warm but no sign of any juice to the battery..
Can't see any next steps that are worthwhile..
I would really like to get the data off the phone tho..
Any ideas?

Well I have the P30, an LG G6, a Jabra bluetooth, a Huawei GT watch, a Samsung Galaxy A tablet, a laptop and use all of them pretty extensively at work whether I'm home in my office or on the road out of my truck. I see the reverse charging as not much more than a gimmick. There is no way I would rely on that to charge any of my devices and the odds of me being somewhere where I couldn't use a charger, whether it be at home or on the road is slim to none. Oh and I have a 10,000 mA charge block....but that's just me. I'm prepared, lol.

same technology, but the samsung watches are a pain to line up. would be surprised if you managed it again with the s10
something weird happened with me.. I've tried many times t reverse charge my watch but nothing happened then i have read here that i have to wait a little seconds then after 10 seconds it get lights on with charging sign then 3 minutes a pop up appeared that the watch is getting high temperature and stopped charging and phone also got hot .... any one faced that before ??
tried in my galaxy watch active, its very hard to line it up
I tried yesterday to charge my Galaxy Watch and I didn't get it.
In my watch shows a message "please, use the original charger".
I also tried with my friend's galaxy active charger and also doesn't work...
