If you look at the USB-C pinout, I really doubt these support fast charging. These only have 4 pins for the USB 2.0 interface, I believe the 5W @ 3A is only possible via the cable bus power and ground since that delivery is unique to USB Type-C.

So you're saying it needs to be Type-C to Type-C for fast charging?

It maxes out at 2A, and fast charge for the 6P is at 3A. It'll be charging at 2/3 the speed of fast charging.

I took an EE type course too but we never learned about pin set ups for cables lol. 2A is still good enough when I need a cable on he go

how much is shipping from OP?

Probably going to cancel my order then. I need the fast charging. Guess that means I need a new brick too then eh?

Actually, it says in the product description that it delivers up to 2amps. Oops. Hope they get my ticket.

cm? This is 'Murica. Land of the free and home to the Google. How many inches/feet?

Although it may not matter much given a phone is obsolete in a year or two, I suspect charging at 2/3 or less would greatly extend battery life.

Thank you I just read it is only 2A though. But thanks again. I was tired of Googling metric measurements. When will the rest of the world catch up and start using the empirical system?

. The world isn't ready for it. They need things to be base-10 for it to make sense.

I've ordered two of these, one of each size regardless of fast charge capabilities. I have so many regular USB-A chargers dotted all over the place that I might as well keep them useful. Plus the One Plus cables have a really good quality track record among their fans.
Also I tend to carry an extra cable with me with no charger for use in unexpected circumstances, and USB A ports are of course the most common available in a pinch. Simply practical to have extra C to A cables.
I might invest in an additional fast charger beyond what is supplied, once we have complete and precise clarification on how to maximize the 6P fast charging.

Awesome cables, I bought 5 because they're better than the offerings on Amazon while being easier to plug in, and perfectly compatible with my Macbook.

Mine came today

Definitely feels like quality cable

Longer (1.8m or so) micro USB cable that still charges with 1900mAh?

Have been looking for a while to find an (affordable) micro USB cable which is a lot longer than the stock cable. When charging the phone right now I must contort myself in strange positions because of the rather short length of the supplied cable.
So I'm looking for a longer (>1.5m) cable but that one must also still charge with the same rate as the stock cable: 1900mA...
After reading some reviews on Amazon for example it seems that those cables are rather hard to find. They all lower the amount of charging current.
So the question is: does anybody know of such a cable (and has tried it himself with Galaxy Charging Current for example so it charges with 1900mA for sure  ).
Thanks in advance :good:

Mah is not a charging rate. Its known as a discharge rate or capacity of the battery/cells. You might have better luck searching for it as 1900 ma (milliamps) or 1.9A (amps). I use lithium batteries in all my rc trucks and the radios and had to do a bit of studying about them, improper charging or discharging can lead to degradation of the cells or catastrophic failure (explosion).

Those (cheap) cables rarely (or even better: never) offer the same loading charge. Especially at that length.
These work: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AR4M04S/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Using one on both my HP Touchpad that has a Charging Current app and it says 2A and my S4 is also using one. It also claims 1900mA. They are good cables for me.

I have the exact same problem as you, I have tried 10 different micro USB cables and only the white cable from the S4 charger chargers to 1900 or 1.9amps.
I ordered three of these below, as other forums recommended them, they should arrive today or tomorrow, if you can wait, I will test the output on them and report back.

Already some from Amazon.de on the way and ordering from US-based sites is often quite difficult for us Europeans. However, I would of course like to know your result, so please :good:
Funny, I usually strive to find smaller (10-30cm) cables.
What I need someone to explain to me is how do you know the cable isn't charging at max intensity. Does it not charge at all, or you measure the current, or what?

Shorter cables are handy for their own purposes as well, like in a car or something. However, when I'm watching tv and the phone is being charged the supplied cable, for me, is much too short. Very awkward to play with the phone when the cable is short, hence I wanted a longer cable.
Longer cables alas usually lower the charging current so while it surely does charge the phone it takes much, much longer to do so

USB Type C cables reviewed by Google engineer

Google product engineer +BensonLeung has tested several cables, and the vast majority of them fail to meet the Type C specification, some even dangerously drawing too much power.
Interesting to note that the hugely popular Orzly cables fail his tests.
can't even trust the word "certified by **** company" on the products anymore. that's why you just can't ignore product reviewers.
Haha, I was just coming to post this myself. Its good we have people looking out for this sort of thing. Stuff like this always pops up in the early phases of new tech or standard roll outs. Remember all the faulty knock off lightning cables for apple stuff when that first launched?
Potentially bad news for those of us with the One+ cables though;
+Rajesh Handa , +Guille Laca, +Jared Valles, +Steven Lefkoff, unfortunately I have bad news about the One+ cables. The One+ cables, despite ostensibly being from a 1st party phone maker, are out of spec. They use an incorrect 3A configuration as well.
I haven't reviewed them on Amazon because they aren't for sale there directly from One+

It sucks he has not recommended any chargers or USB-C to USB-C cables. The only cables he has reviewed are USB A to USB-C and it is my understanding that these will not quick charge the device anyhow.

Remember that the M8 has a 2,600 mAh battery and the 6P has a 3,450 mAh battery. The 6P battery is almost 35% larger than the M8, and will require more time to charge. How much charge did the 6P have when the M8 finished charging?

Ditto. I bought 3 and I might keep them for slow charging, like overnight. The price wasn't bad.
That's is a very fair point and good question. If I'm not mistaken between 65-75%. Nothing crazy, but one thing I will say, I play a game that drains the battery very badly, even after I close and even force close the app (love it so much I am willing to live with it) but I drained it all the way back down this morning playing the game and instead of turning it back on and starting the charge from 1% and leaving it on so I can track its progress (after a restart, the game normally doesn't cause any battery drain until I open it again), I left it off to charge, and I came back less than 40 minutes later and the thing was full.. I couldn't believe it so I turned it on and unplugged it and sure enough, 98%. It could be that the game was causing such drain (which is scary because the it never eats battery after a reboot) that it slowed the charging process, but I guess I'll never know for sure.

should we still have to worry about even if we use a basic charger (5v - 2a) to charge our 6P with those generic cables? seems like the google engineer only tested and raised concerned with rapid charging. this might get too far once wireless charging stickers/cases are introduced.

Based on the text in his reviews, it sounds like the risk of damage is to your charger, not your phone. The phone can (obviously) handle a 3A charging speed but a USB A charger most likely cannot.

Hey everyone! As you all know im always doing reviews on loads of products and have reviewed these cables with the OnePlus 2! Obviously they work perfectly for that as they were built for the OnePlus 2 originally. I did contact them though and they did let me know that as soon as it was brought to there attention they corrected the issue and i actually received the new version of the cable today and i will review it and have the video up tomorrow! For everyone using a OnePlus 2 its nothing to worry about though. The only items that it could affect are things that power at 3A so just keep that in mind before you go throwing out your cables!

The Perfect Battery Bank for a 6P

Hey XDA,
I have issues with buying technology because I am always looking for zero compromises. Been holding off on a battery bank for the 6P because i haven't found "the one"....
Wondering if anyone has seen any battery banks that meet all/most of these criterion:
USB C 3A Input/Output
Passthrough charging (charge the phone and battery bank in series)
6000 mAh or higher
I'm more than happy with this product from RAVPower

Great find man! I been looking for something like this. Now if I can only find out if the 18650's are replaceable! Does it look like this box has screws to easily disassemble it ?
the battery pack i'm waiting for (hopefully not forever) is something with 3a fast charging that is more pocket friendly than anker/ravpower ~8000 mAH+
I bought this recently and its working great.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/iVoler-1000...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
Not only does it support fast charging via USB C, it uses the USB C port to charge itself as well. This means the battery bank charges in about 3 hours which is quite fast for a 10000mah pack. With a full charge, I can charge my 6p twice.

Great find man! I been looking for something like this. Now if I can only find out if the 18650's are replaceable! Does it look like this box has screws to easily disassemble it ?

Nope, It doesn't have screws, I'm pretty sure it's hidden under the back cover.

Actually this one doesn't have true USB C fast charge (it only goes up to 2.4A @ 5V, not the full 3A)

I second this pack. It's a bit on the bigger side, but the added capacity is really helpful when you have to go off the grid for an extended period of time (read international flights), and the extra weight isn't that obvious if you just throw the pack in your backpack or purse, for our lady friends out there.
As for the screws, I don't think it has, and the 18650s aren't supposed to be replaceable either. But heck, the cells are of exceptionally high quality and rated up to 500 cycles, so you don't really have to worry about them going bad.

Not true, it DOES have true USB C fast charge as it gives you 5V 3A.

I stand corrected! Thanks for pointing this out. Last time I checked, it only supported pseudo fast charge (2.4A @ 5V)
I just got the Anker PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C and find it really good as well.

I just picked up the same, and I'm impressed so far. It came with a carry bag and 3 cables: A to Micro, A to C, & C to C. Capacity is 20,100 mAh.
Amazon link if you're interested. Will post a review after using it a while.
Dear friends,
Could you please share your experience with power banks so far? I'm looking for some to buy soon...
I bought the Xiaomi Power Bank Pro. It does have a USB type C socket.
Unfortunately that socket is to charge the power bank itself, so connecting the 6P via the USB type C actually drains the phones battery and charges the power bank from the phone. :-o
It does come with a USB A to USB C cable, but it does not quick charge the 6P.
Thanks for your answer, I've read that pressing POWER button on the bank while connecting to the phone could launch charging via USB-C socket - did you try it?

Hey XDA,
I have issues with buying technology because I am always looking for zero compromises.

O recently ordered the RAVpower 20,100mAh 3.0 one as there was a $10 off coupon code, but can understand the desire for something smaller and more pocket-able.
This is closest thing I was able to find that is pocket-able and, i think, meets your criteria. But no reviews and I've never heard of the brand:
http://www.amazon.com/Imazing-10000...ick+Charge+3.0+USB-C+Type+C++Portable+Charger
Heck I now want one of these too, if they are actually any good....

So what are the differences between the Anker and the RAVpower?
Do they both support being charged at 5V/3A?
EDIT: That pocket-able one is kind of tempting - shame it isn't a more reputable brand
The RAVpower unite I ordered does both USB-C 5V 3A and Quick Charge 3.0 the Anker unite seemed not to (not even sure it did either, must where QC 2.0).

Anyone using a wireless charging adapter?

I've gotten way too use to wireless charging to get rid of it on the 7 Pro. I previously used a wireless adapter with the Mi Mix that worked perfectly charging at around 1000ma. For some reason the same adapter is only charging at around 70ma-250ma on the 7 pro across multiple chargers. Has nothing to do with the case as the speed is the same with and without the case.
So, I'm looking to buy another adapter. Is anyone using one that works well they can recommend?
Nillkin Type C Wireless Charging... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M11UT3V?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This is the one I use on a daily basis. Combined with a Choetech charging pad, my 7Pro typically gets north of 500 mAh, and hits 800-1000 regularly.
Note that cables (I use Monoprice) and adapter (Anker qc3) make a difference. Also length of usb-c cables can affect charging, especially through a case. Personally, a 1.5ft cable fits my setup atop my dresser.

ok good, have that Nillikin coming tomorrow. did you get the short or long version? seems from reading they would recommend the short.
I use android auto alot so need to connect phone to the car daily. Is there a recommendation for a wireless charging option that can also facilitate a magnetic usb type c charger?

Please let us know how well it works with the OnePlus Warp Charger (my guess is it won't Warp, but am curious how many mAh you get, if you wouldn't mind using Ampere or AccuBattery or something equivalent to report)
Thanks!

So I tested it out. Wired charging is as fast if not faster than the stock warp charger (was getting up to 5700 mA). Wireless charging is much slower (even with a fast charging wireless charging pad) and is definitely not fast wireless charging like with samsung, but i'm still averaging about like 600-800 mA, so probably like 17%/hr. I'm pretty satisfied with it. Only problem is if I ever need to use the usb-c port for real usb c items like headphone adapter, still have to remove the receiver.

Lol neuter your phone charging! So you charge at almost 3x slower then your cable charger for what reason?

Decreased mechanical wear and tear.
The only thing more likely than failure of the USB port is failure of the power button... What do they have in common? Both parts are subject to degradation from repeated physical interaction.
I have a friend who repairs phones -- besides shattered screen replacement, power buttons and USB ports are what he most commonly fixes.

Never had a bad port nor a power button go bad and I've had a lot of phones. USB C ports don't wear out, they get damaged. Learn to keep your things nice and take care of them and they will last. The power button, never an issue but in the last 3 years you don't even need to use it much anyway with double tap to sleep and wake. Just fishing for reasons

No worries! I've used custom kernels that support DT2W/S or quick settings tiles to proxy the button for years as well. You're absolutely right -- don't abuse your phone and you can use it for years...
