Android tweak boost wifi signal - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hello all members, i have Alcatel c9 7047d with 4.2 jb rooted, i want a tweak-mod which boost wifi signal, cuz the signal is poor.. give me something.. or apps.. thanks!!

There is no tweaks for wifi only net tweaks is possible to add into build.prop but this not improve your signal you must replace wifi anntene on your router to much better one or change positions of your router..if you means your signal is low if you connected somewhere than your wifi chip is not enought powerful..

Theres the bw ruler (bandwidth ruler) app with a fast surf option and you can update your modem to get better signal. Both works great for me

Slow Downspeed on Note 10.1

I have a fiber optic internet connection at home and on my desktop PC I get download speeds of 80mbps+ however when I do a speed test on my note 10.1 I am lucky to get a downspeed on 3mbps. Does anyone have any ideas why this is and how to improve it?
I am in the UK and have the N8010 model.
Many thanks.
Its likely something with your router. Check the signal strength and channel.maybe a firmware upgrade on the router .are you connection to a/b/g/n all of the above will effect speeds and reliability.
Also is your PC hard wired.? If so you know it will be much faster there is far less overhead data tagging along.I do not think its the device
Good luck

Thanks for the response. My router in running on Wireless N. Yes my PC is hard wired however im still getting at least a 50mbps downspeed on my Windows laptop via the wireless. I just figure it's something to do with the network card inside the Note?
I do have some problems connecting to certain networks with my tablet as well. Maybe there's some problem with wifi drivers in the galaxy note I'm guessing. Hopefully it'll be fixed in JB.

One thing you can try is changing the encryption and/or privacy standard (WEP and so on) since some of them isn't supported by "dumb" devices and I suspect some of them are supported but are so advanced it affects the performance.

Hi,
I had the same issue.
I solved setting the ip address to static (not dhcp) in wifi settings.
Now i get 20 mbits+ (consistent with my G router capabilities)

Go to settings.
Select wifi
Long press on your connection.
Press modify connection
Now select ip settings and change to static
Now change your IP to an address outside of dhcp range and your done.
If dhcp is 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.100 set your tab to 192.168.1.101
You can also change your routers dhcp range to 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.15 and set your tab to ..16
Your numbers may be different, but same method.

Reg: Modems

Hi all,
I observed with other samsung device threads that users are concerned about what modem they're using, while all modems made for a device should work across all regions, does choosing a particular region modem have any significance at all?
Btw, I used Indian GB modem and later moved with European modems when ICS was released and using Indian ICS modem since yesterday, I couldn't notice difference glaringly across any version of android.
Also, My friend has an i9100g which gets -87dBm signal while I get only -105dBm with same operator(Airtel Chennai), these are best signal values at a particular location in home with both devices running their respective CM10.1 Builds.
Your technical inputs, views are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Buddy, I got - 97 and - 81 signal strength. So, it might b coz of signal strength.

This is very good signal. My doubt is why two devices with same operator and at same location have different signal strength.

Any s/w tweaks to improve signal strength is available?
Had an average of -89dbm on cm10 but on gb its arnd -105 dbm..i guess its related to software..I'm really curious abt dis too

I have been using GB (Neo ROM) for past few days and I'm getting -55 to -59 dBM strength. The modem part of the ROM might have a slight say in this. But mostly it depends on the strength with which ur provider is broadcasting the signal, much like FM radio. Combined with that is the build quality of ur network chip. That can affect reception to some extent. I know there are build.prop tweaks for enhancing the download speeds over cellular networks but none for improved signal strength.
Thnx!
Most of those build.prop tweaks for network speed are actually about setting up the proper value. I have experience with some manufacturers who simply just copy values from other devices/AOSP generic even though their device is capable of having a higher speed. I have looked into this issue and it is set up properly in my CM builds.

Came across this build.prop tweak...claims to boost the signal.
Code:
ro.config.hw_fast_dormancy=1

It only does if the carrier supports it. If it doesn't, it eats battery if enabled.

Yep..Its supports only for carrier network with DTM (Dual Transfer Mode) support. I dont think any indian n/w providers has it (Particularly in chennai )

[Q] automatic toggles 2g with no app?

HEy... actually I want to ask why my network automaticaly toggles to 2g when I turn my WiFi on. I don't have any app for this, and I don't remember that I was searching in rom settings for this (if there is such setting). Can someone help me and tell what toggles it?
I'm using Albinoman newest rom.
There is a solution for that
Download this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mangelow.network
And change the signal preference to wcadm only and it will never go to 2g if u want 2g change the op again

Man its the kernel and ROM nature to use 2g when WiFi is turned on as phone thinks that 3g is used on data only and when it have WiFi for that it changed the signal connection to save battery

EDIT look above post for fix why ask for kernel change or ROM lol

Okay, I like it. It can be changed by kernel/rom not to toggle it?
just to know whatever connection you have(3G,4G)when you are turning on wifi automatically switches to wifi
it happens not only to this rom but even in all devices

Wifi signal boost!

Hello friends! i want a kernel or something else to boost the signal on wifi! beacuase the signal is'nt ok!!
please give me something!
i dont think that there is something that actual works. some says that with some tweaks at build.prop can boost it but from my experience they dont work. maybe some experts knows more than me!!!
I know i saw one app that gave more battery to wifi antenna, so it would be stronger, but the battery would drain quite faster

As I see its probably too late but I`ll still share my experience. The max 3G speed that I managed to get as throughput to my laptop was around 7 megabits/s which is around 0.9 megabytes/s. That was with wifi hotspot option.
I never tried the variant with through the usb.
I got 1.1 mb/second while using youtube
