I just picked up a Galaxy S6 Edge on Sprint. Phone is running nice but it has its hiccups at times. (I'm coming from an iPhone 6Plus). One thing that bugs the crap out of me is the camera. When I double press my home button, camera launches but it is so blurry. I press the screen and try to get it to focus but does not work. I have to completely shake the phone for it to get to focus. Is there anyone else with this problem?
I have this problem as well! Sometimes after i shake it, i can hear the focus mechanism clicking.. i think we may have to turn them in for warranty?

I have this same problem my pics look cloudy

Hello, I have recently noticed that my phone (HTC TP, ROM 1.90.404.1) takes odd pictures, I think it has something to do with the frequency and/or intensity of the light that comes from the object you're taking a picture of.
I have added a photo that I took, in the picture you see a lamp aimed at the ceiling. Note the weird colors.
I only have this problem with the 3.2 MP camera on the back, the camera on the front of the device is fine. Now I didn't buy the phone for it's camera quality, so it doesn't bother me that much. But I'm still curious.
Does anyone know whats going on?
regardles if you bought it for the camera function or not.
the camera function is on youre phone and it should work.
looks like youre camera doesnt work goed, so if it was my phone, i brought it back for repair.
Bump.
E-mailed HTC via the support site, waiting for a reply.
I don't want to have to hard reset
Anyone got any ideas?
This is probably a faulty device. I'd return it.
The photo looks normal to me
Did you store any kind of mind-driving / psychidelic substances near your Touch Pro?
Well a hard reset did not fix it.
I suppose I'll start looking into the return policy/warranty while I wait for a reply from HTC.
OK well another update.
The good news is I figured out what is causing it.
The problem is the IR filter or rather lack thereof. I asked around and someone told me I should aim a remote control at the lens, press buttons and see what happens. Well I see a nice bright flash on my screen whenever I press a button
Now how to fix it. I think placing a simple IR-filter in front of the lens might do the trick.
Looks like the hardware is fine.

This is not your problem. ALL digital cameras do the same 'trick', even my 12 MegaPixel super Olympus i've just got. I've even used this behavior to help fix a broken remote a few years back.

Awww but the effect seemed the same. So maybe it's still something to do with the frequency?

Looks Poloraized, bad senor if u ask me.
Is this a typical issue? And if so... is it hardware or software?
Sadly, from what I have seen, it is a hardware issue. Hopefully you can swap yours.
Sent from my rooted Moto Triumph
Thanks Fodoom, I took it up with my Best Buy, and needless to say I will be getting a new one. And if I have another bad one? They'll just keep giving them to me until it is fixed. (Hardware or Software wise)
Just to make sure you know you have to hold the on screen shutter button down for it to focus and then it takes the picture when you let go. I am switching from an iphone where you just tap the screen for focus so it took me a minute to figure out since there's no hardware camera button.
I hope you tried this before swapping it out, but I figured I'd ask just in case.

That's odd, because I've been just tapping the shutter button all this time to take pictures with my Triumph and it's been working just fine; I can see the camera auto-focus and then snap the picture.
Just for grins, I tried it your way and held down the shutter button; it auto-focused and quietly beeped then, when I released the button, it took the picture. I'm betting this is a feature to enable the Triumph camera to mimick old time SLRs, where you focus for one particular distance and then take the picture with the subject at another distance to create some interesting out-of-focus effects.
At any rate, for the OP, I would definitely take your Triumph back for an exchange. Your camera should auto-focus whether on the camera app or a barcode reader app. If not, you have a legitimate issue.
Hi guys....
My camera don't focus (and I hear a buzzy sound near the camera, very loudly). The mobile phone vibrates when is trying to focus. I've tried restarting the phone, hard resetting with no solution. I've recorded some videos, look:
I ordered a replacement phone (I've dealt with warranty) Have I done well? Or should I repair it in a store? I don't want this: http://imgur.com/a/ey7kl
from your video, it looks as its focusing fine(a few things were to close to focus on, yes too close is bad). but the lens is a little dirty. about the sound, its not supposed to make any. have you dropped or hit your device?
The lens it's completely clean and of course, was too clouse but I could focus that distances. No hit or drop
you don't use touch to focus, do you? am autofocus shot will give you a general focus over everything, but touch to focus will focus on exactly what you want, and a cleaner better focus.

if its still not focusing, an exchange is the best option. but try touching to focus anyways.

yes, google is extremely good about exchanges, especially if there is a physical problem, like the camera.

Thank you so much simms22. You're great. I told you that the phone didn't fallen but of course some times the phone fallen. A month ago, the phone crashed very hardly but no scratches in screen (Ringke Fusion, I love you) and any problems. In fact I have many photos taken after that hit. Since that day I had a lot more careful and no more drops.
So the reason why the camera doesn't work I don't think it's a fall :fingers-crossed:
Please ask questions in the Q&A section
Thread moved
well, it could have loosened something with that fall, then only later it could have completely loosened or broken the rest of the way. but thats only an opinion, as its a possibility.
Does any one else have any issue with recorded videos not focusing? Stays blurry when recording.

This may be your issue. If it is, take some toothpaste and rub it with a q-tip for a few minutes.

You tried tapping on the screen to get it to focus? I know it's sounds like a silly question but YOU NEVER KNOW! lol
I guess I didn't give enough info, it does take pics in focus sometimes. Not sure if it is a lighting/crappy camera combo or what. I had one video that was all blurry and the last minute jumped into focus. Just don't know what to make of it.
Unfortunately I tried that but it didn't really work.
Sometime I have to focus on holding my camera really steady or else it gets blurry fast.

The one thing I noticed is it doesnt do it as often to close up stuff. The biggest culprit was in a gym at my daughters cheer competition, a couple weeks in a row it would be in focus then i would click start and it would click out of focus and stay that way even if i tried to refocus. Just baffles me because it used to work really good.
Today accidentally discovered that the phone has a rattle to it. Never dropped or anything. First, I thought it was the S-Pen, but even with the pen out, there is still a rattle that seems to be coming from the camera module. Anyone else's phone does that? Is it normal or should I try swapping the unit?
Its just the camera lens don't worry my last 3 Notes have done it
Thanks. Found the videos talking about the same issue on S20+. Guess it's normal. Never noticed it before on any of my Sammies. Must be a "new phone paranoia". ?

Larger the camera the more it floats until you turn on the camera. Hence more noise. I would also suggest it's more sensitive while the camera is on to a hard hit /damage.

I am experiencing that same rattle too. It seems to go away when i turn on the camera, so this is definitely due to the much talked about rattle that the camera module had with the S20 Ultra as well..
I must say that the rattle is rather annoying and random and especially annoying when i have the phone in my pocket while jogging..At least it is good to know that it is not a faulty unit but rather a feature of the lens system.
I am getting a faint clicking noise whenever I exit the camera app. I can feel it on the device too. Is this normal?

Thanks, I suppose this is due to the different camera setup. I'm coming from a Note 9, which had OIS and is completely silent, but then again it doesn't have the new sensors.
Also remember when camera has stabilisation in it that could cause the rattle noise from camera since camera itself moves when you shake the phone.
I hardly hear rattle in mine but when I face screen down I can hear a loud click from camera area and then when I face it back up with screen up I hear the click again.
So yeah camera is basically moving or it's lenses.
This is normal as long you don't see any defect in camera when using it.

Yeah I read about the rattling when shaking the device, but nothing about noise when the camera app exits...
I had the same issue. I had battery and overheating issues as well so i requested an exchange device. The old device had the rattle however i noticed the new one doesn't. Really think Samsung messed up QC with this device.
Interesting... Samsung doesn't have any stock of my device to exchange at the moment, otherwise I'd have probably asked for one. I'll see how it pans out over the next few days...
Without the camera app open when uou hold the device flat then tilt it up 90 degrees you'll hear it click every time, it doesn't matter if it's in landscape or portrait view. With the camera app open you don't hear it. One of the lens uses electromagnets for stabilization, without the camera app open the lens is moving around since there is no power going to the magnets.

They all rattle, anyone says otherwise is trolling.
The snapdragons have better rattling. ??
I have had my Note 20 ultra for 2 days and only this afternoon have I noticed this very loud rattle. I swear 100% that it wasn't there before. It also happens that this afternoon was the first time I tried wirelessly charging my phone. Is it possible that the wireless charger has somehow messed with the magnets that control the lens module?! I'm really annoyed and might send it back.

It's totally unacceptable for a 1399 device. Return it until you get a good one. By which time the note 21 ultra will be out. ?? Because they are all like that. I've had three different regional variants of the Note 20 Ultras, all same.
Buyers remorse has many faces.
