Do we got anything on the M9? Maybe January release ?? Anybody know anything. Hoping for optics improvement, ois. HTC is always pretty tight lipped.
I myself hope they upgrade memory to 3 gigs. That and just a bit bigger screen would be cool too.
5.5inch display is the rumor.
Looks like I'll be getting the mini, LOL.

Yeah I'm with you on that...I feel like anything past 5.2 is just to big.
The only 5.5" device I've heard about, is the HTC One Max Sport with 18mp ois camera.

as I said only a rumor, it's based off the fact that the M8 Prime was rumored to be 5.5inch.
I believe it will be in the range of 5.2-5.3 though
Focus on software improvements on the M8.
Everyone complains about the camera, but it's the best smartphone camera I've ever had and I had a iPhone 5S for a minute.
For me the screen is the perfect size.
The only thing I would want to see in a future phone is a bigger battery. If this thing had a bigger battery 2 days would be doable. As it is now the battery is amazing, but it could get better.

You should never zoom on a cell phone camera. Just my thoughts. It's just a digital zoom and you always be better off to capturing everything the lens sees. Do your adjustments post

Wow that would be amazing where you hear rumor on that. Interested for a Read . I they scrapped the Prime but I see it coming back into play with the release.
Still Hoping for January.

If its 5.5 sign me up now just pack it with a 2.5 quad core & 3 gigs of memory. Would be nice if they could get the 8 core processor. I will have to look up the m9 rumors but its really to early to have any seriousness to them.

I dont know what everyone is complaining about the camera for, I have had 6 m's, 2 at&t and 4 verizon and for me they have all taken good pics I have no complaints about the m8 camera. I think many just complaim because its a low pixel number but thats because its an ultra pixel and not a mega pixel. I think most complain about it just because of a lower pixel number and not about the actual performance of the standard m8's camera.

Never had any issue I just take about 4 or 5 pics of the same and pick the best one, that has always worked for me.
I find this thread VERY depressing as I still have almost 3 years of payments on my current M8. <sigh>
FWIW, I've had an old Blackberry that took much better pics than the M8 (or my Samsung Galaxies but the best camera phone I had was actually a camera with a phone stuck on, a Samsung FlipShot! It was a fairly decent phone and a GREAT little portable camera.
http://www.cnet.com/products/samsung-sch-u900/
Of course, these are totally obsolete 3G phones but they DID take great pics, proving again the megapixels have very little to do with picture quality.
I know my photos are not the best to check the quality. I hope they can help you to decide!
If I had time, this night (Spain time) I would like a new low light comparison between V10 and S7 Edge.
IMO, I like the details of V10, but at low light I like S7 Edge.

Edit : V10 looks better in low light, no yellow tint and more sharp. But S7e has punchy color, but LG has spectrum color to be more realistic.

You sure it was always in automatic mode with the V10 ? here it takes darker pics than the S6E+ whereas usually the LG always take brighter pics than the S6E+ in low light.

No it's not bad. It's just worse that having a sony sensor. You should probably check the threads about isocell vs sony imx in galaxy s6 and note 5 forums. There's a clear difference and let's just say isocell is not the winner... washed out collors, worse clarity, worse low light with puprle fringe on videos and photos at the corners of the frame. I should know, i have an s6e with isocell.

Cool....I'm thinking about going to grab this phone from TMOUS on Friday. Hopefully I get the Sony sensor.
Either way, I'll be happy to be back on Android. I switched to a 6+ and then a 6S+ last summer/fall and I am finally missing Android. Yes there are some things better about IOS but I just feel so limited. Apple not opening it the API really hurts 3rd party app function. The Alarm clock apps along with 3rd party keyboards are horrendous on IOS.

Well when you get it welcome back! I haven't owned an iPhone since the 4 and I see no reason to look back. I enjoy the freedom to brick my phone and do whatever I want for fun. Exactly.......and I miss that part so much. My wife is sticking with the iPhone because when we switched from the 6 to the 6S, she said she loved how everything on her phone went back to exactly the way she had it. I hated that part. I love starting fresh with a new phone and setting it up all over again.
Plus I have the Jump On Demand and I feel like it's going to waste if I only upgrade once a year to the new iPhone. I'm getting my 3 upgrades a year dammit.

TBH the daylight photos of S7e satisfied me, and it amazed me in no-light condition (the beach photos). Still visible in no-light is mind-blowing.
It's also very very clear that the HDR mode eliminates oil-painting effect and cures the relatively low dynamic range too. All HDR photos I have seen so far are very good, always better than the normal one (feel real, not fake like other HDR photos).
The only thing I care now is the low-light mode. Com'on SS, the low-light mode on S3 and Note 2 was increadible, and you have it on A5 and A7 2016 too, so please give it back to S series.

LOL.....don't get me wrong, my wife still likes Android, she just doesn't care that much. She actually missed her Android when we first switched but I think facetiming with her family made her want to stick with the iPhone.
I will say this though. We have a couple Android tablets along with a couple iPads and I do believe iOS has Android beat when it comes to the tablet interface. Either way, I'm not really a tablet guy anyway. I'd much prefer to be sitting on the couch with my XPS 13 or gaming on my MSI GT72.
I'm curious what you folks who came from the Nexus 6p think about this smaller phone. Are you regretting going with the smaller option? Loving it? I've ordered a Pixel for me and the missus (thanks to the TMo promo) and am fully expecting to have a love/hate relationship with the smaller phone. I mean, I totally miss having a reasonable size phone (my N6p is HUGE!!) but boy is it nice to have a large screen when I don't care about my phone being small.
I'm still a week or two away from getting our Pixels but trying to decide whether I should change my order to an XL or not.
I'm loving my Pixel. So much easier to handle. Battery life has been great. Camera is amazing. The only thing I miss are the front facing speakers. However, the Pixel speaker is plenty loud and sounds really good despite it being one speaker on the bottom of the device.

Thanks for the feedback! Oddly enough, I don't think I'll care much at all about the speaker. The N6p has great speakers but I never use them - almost always have better audio options available (7 Chromecast audios at home, B&O Bluetooth speakerphones that also sound great for music, car integrated Bluetooth, & a Bluetooth stereo headset). I think the last phone I has that wasn't too large was the OG Moto X. That was a long time and many phones ago!
The smaller phone is hugely liberating. Finally feels normal and just right. Heck, I wish it were smaller. I guess I never did adjust to the phablet madness. Now it fits in my pocket, cup holders, anywhere I can think of. I tend to worry less about it. It's less of a thin flat large slab that may bend. One handed use is so underrated. 4.5" would have been perfect though.
Okay, so the things I don't like are the price, it is definitely not hundreds of pounds better than the 6P, which was IMO 2015's best smartphone and the 6P held its own right up to now.
Then there's no 64gb option.
Then the design itself is also rather ugly at the back. Face looks awesome.
It hasn't added much to the 6P. It took a few things away from the 6P. The small size and the marginal speed performance differences made my mind up really.
It's not better than last year's. It's just a different phone. Because it HAS no last year model to compete with.
I have compared the camera on both and the camera is over hyped. It produces the same stills as the 6P does. However, focussing is better in video and stabilisation is finally here. Not forgetting to mention that it can do macros closer up. That's it really.

I have to admit the quality is not leaps and bounds better than the 6P. However, another important factor with the Pixel camera is speed. I had to settle for subpar pics with my 6P many times because the first snap wasn't great then I had to wait for HDR+ to process before I could snap another one. The Pixel allows me to snap pictures much quicker giving me more opportunities to get the shot I want.
Thanks all! You're helping me feel better with my choice of the smaller version. I'm not worried about the aesthetics since it'll be in a case most it's life. I'm really excited for this phone even if it's not a huge upgrade from the N6P. Definitely looking for that faster camera most of all!

My suggestion if you have a Best Buy or Verizon store near, is go and play with both for a couple hours. It's kind of daunting to come from a 6-inch screen to a 5-inch screen. You might find it that mrs. Prefers the 5.5 inch where you find yourself happy with the 5-inch or vice versa.

On the camera side of things - from the reviews I have looked at online the low light performance is superior on the Pixel when compared to the 6p, or any other phone camera for that matter.
I have the same situation too. I find 6P is too bulky..I kind of miss the Nexus 5 feeling. My biggest concern is the battery life because how significantly smaller the battery is compared to 6P.

Loving it!
So I'm a bit of a junkie. I switch phones every 6-12 months, going back as far as the HTC Desire HD.
I've been bouncing between Nexus and HTC Flagships for the last couple years, having had every HTC One and both the Nexus 6 and 6p.
While I AM still a huge fan of the large form factor of the 6p (I still haven't sold it yet, so I have been doing a lot of direct comparisons), I decided on the Pixel instead of the XL and I don't regret it. It's so comfortable, so fast, the battery is AMAZING, the camera is AMAZING, it's just so good. What I was most surprised with is actually the speaker quality! It is very clear and full sounding, especially for a single bottom firing speaker.
I don't know what else to say, I thought this would be more structured but it turned into a bit of a rant.

It's good I sub low-light but when it's really low light ois or manual is needed. Great camera otherwise,so much faster then stock 6P (there is now a hacked one in the 6P forum). I Have a pixel, this iPhone and a Huawei P9 and can't decide witch one to stay with but the pixel is really really good.

This ia precisely how I feel. The small form factor, the power and speed. The camera and battery life sold me. The price was high. I think no phone should ever cost this price. It's a phone and a social media toy. A camera even. That's it.
But as the market rate goes, this is the best phone for the money. RIP phablets. If more top end hardware was available for smaller handsets, I would wager phablets would be dead in quick succession.
One plus 3 really is the wild card of smartphones... It throws a spanner in my perfect Pixel world.

The one thing making my decision difficult is reduced resolution. I'm ready for smaller form factor but I've had qhd for such a long time that I'm not sure I'm ready for the compromises when going down to HD.
Can anyone please elaborate on their experience (gaming and multimedia) coming from higher resolution display?
I'm mostly concerned with Vainglory.

I never game on any of my mobile devices (I have a gaming PC 980ti, i74790k, 1440p display with Gsync). However, I do have the 6P and the Pixel side by side. I can't say I can tell the difference at all. I think you really have to go looking for the difference and squint to pick any minute details.
I've now had my Pixel 5" for 24 hours and I'm loving the size!

I'm the OP of this thread so I obviously came from a N6P, which is 1440p @ ~5.8". With that background, I can say that I love this screen even more than I loved the N6P screen. The drop in resolution isn't noticeable to me at all (my main monitor on my computer is 4k, so I get it and demand resolution).
The only situation I can imagine where the Pixel 5" resolution would be a problem would be with Cardboard/Daydream where the pixels are magnified. That's VERY secondary for me and I'd never change my phone decision because of that. Simply put, 1080p on this phone is pretty amazing! Don't forget that this is much sense of a DPI than any Apple phone.
Went from the 6p rooted and heavy use of xposed to a 2 week test of a stock 5x to see how the smaller phone felt...Definitely liked the smaller device, but that phone is under powered .. Got the 5 inch pixel last week and it is fantastic.

Seeing as how XZ is the new 2016 flagship. Is it worth upgrading? Specs wise, it isn't really worth. Just better front facing camera, rear camera and a better processor from what I saw unless I missed something. But design wise, I really like it. Supposedly some of the 2017 Xperia leaks I've seen sport the exact design from the XZ. Should I upgrade or wait out until the end of the year for their high end device?
I have Z5 regular and I have same speculations. The camera is better cause has full manual mode, but picture quality?I am afraid that isnt much better than Z5.
It left only chipset, design and maybe longer battery hold.
I am not smart what to do...

I prefer old design cuz it's more scratch resist than new material. I think u should stay tuned with news, see what if the 2017 devices could be more or not then decide, it's just a month ahead. BTW, XZ price is still not down in VN Store yet.
As nougat takes up approximately 50% of the XZ's memory which can't be rooted without unlocking the bootloader, I'd suggesting holding back for three months to see what is released generally. Developer support and third party accessory support are limited for this model, and you'll have difficulty finding a decent case or tempered glass that bonds fully to the curved edge. Double tap to wake remains an issue, and charging is weak and actually depletes if you're using the phone at the same time, as a wireless hotspot for example. It's a stunning phone, but there are issues......
not point tbh, they are just too similar.
Need help
I love Sony !
But since Xperia z5 and didn't see Sony do any big hit now with XZ I loved it but afraid buying it and get disappointed!
Since Z5 went to s7 edge but didn't like it so I went to iPhone 6S plus and didn't like it now I'm with Moto Z but not satisfied!
Thought of HTC 10
But for once Wana believe XZ is worth buying !!!

What make you disappointed in Z5 and why you didn't satisfy with Moto Z?
Make it clear why so others can help to tell in your place.
The Xperia XZ is a good smartphone, most important thing is the stable & close to stock Android Sony UI, with fast OS updates.
I have used so many smartphones, but Sony is really one of the best.

Well had black z5 and left it in my back pocket and when I went to my car forgot about it and when I sat I heard a crack and when I noticed it was the phone took it it was all broken with little bent in the middle !! Bought then white one and left it on the table and when I got a call it moved till felt down and broke down !
So bought z5 premium with the thought of Netflix 4k and youtube 4k but nothing screen brightness under sun was bad and camera wasn't all what I expected !!!
So went to Samsung s7 and hate all the junk and so many options that mostly u never use it and from time to time it get some slow done for a sec !
The only thing I loved about it the camera was great !
So went to moto z and only thing hate it after buying it putting it side by side with iPhone HTC and Samsung it was ugly and looks like a 200$ phone , I know there is no perfect phone I love Sony phones so think buying the Xz but reviews didnt help camera sucks as they say it's not perfect in anything screen still FHD like Sony is Stuck in time !!! It looks like Z5 with a better design and new processor . So what I was wondering is it really worth buying it

Xz is really better than z5 premium.Better speed, battery life, screen quality, camera quality (not only for manual comands ,quaity is also really better on auto. Every shoots are fantastic and night shoots are on different planet compared to z5 series...really fantastic). Z5 premium have updates i think only with nougat 7.0 and 7.1.1. Xz also android 8 and 9 i think. In the end of the year z5 premium probably leave the official support and there you should buy the new xperia z5 premium is a fantastic phone. Xz is really better. But at end 2017 Sony announce his powerful flagship. and it will be a really better phone than xz
Don't know if I can add a YouTube link
But this is what bother me every review I see is negative I don't know if the phone is that bad or the reviews just want to make it show bad !
Here in Brasil it's not on shelves yet only sold online so there is no way to test it yet ! And it's not cheep at all it's around 1050$
So I need a light from ppl here in the XDA
Thanks for all support
Sony is about to announce new phones at MWC on February 27...I'd wait.
edit: Not to say the XZ isn't great, I love mine. Just saying though, new phones in a month. Might be worth waiting to see what they announce.

I have the XZ, it is good phone with best quality screen under direct sun, yes the Samsung S7 edge camera is much better, but in the end it is a smartphone not a camera & with playing with manual mode you can get better result from XZ.
before the XZ I used the HTC 10 which it does have QHD screen !
but if you compare the HTC 10 QHD screen with the FHD Xperia XZ screen in normal indoor light or under direct sun the winner will be for sure the Xperia XZ.
XZ screen is so bright and clear indoor and under direct sun even with polarized sun glasses where you will suffer with other smartphones, but with the XZ it is really a hero.
any one can try that, I felt disappointed from using HTC 10 SPECIALLY UNDER DIRECT SUN with polarized sun glasses, so I decided to get Sony Xperia XZ.
all in all XZ is a good smartphone with good battery life & screen quality, plus the most cool thing I like it about the XZ is the Qnovo charging thing where the battery can learn from your daily charging timing, so this Qnovo thing will stop over charging battery if for example you charge your smartphone over night.
If you are a Sony guy get the XZ, it is such a cool smartphone.

So far, i didn't try Z5 Premium but did use Z1 and tried Z3 of my friend. By stats, Z5 Pre and XZ are just the same. By design, the new material is nice, beautiful, mostly symmetry, more than Z5 Pre, even few time i confused then hold it upside down. But It did not bring the good feeling and high grade feeling (both by viewing and holding) like Z lines, also less scratch resistant. Also in review, its back is easy to be destroy by hard metal.
For gaming, and perhaps clip playing too if you hold XZ, the border is not much rounded, make it feed bad for your hand's palm after playing game for a long time. Battery is not so good, fixed much by Nougat update, but still. The reduced resolution didn't make it better, but I don't like larger resolution either, my I cant' see much differences.
For broken and bend problems, I didn't drop my XZ so i can't tell, but my old Z1 drop many times without any problems, just scratch appear in every corner after times. Then how could your old phone became broken so easily?
At all, I'm a little reget that I should try Z5 Pre before buying XZ, that's it.

Has anyone tried both HTC U11+ and OnePlus 5T?
Are there any issues on hardware or software on both? Which one performs better in overall?
I'm heavy user (40% Social media & 60% Games) so I'm really worried about performance, battery life and battery charging time on both.
What I've seen OnePlus5T has better Dash charge, screen brightness, performance and durability.
On the other hand, HTC U11+ has great audio and camera and overall. (Perhaps?)
In my country, HTC U11+ seems to be worthier in terms of price U11+ 128GB is about $715. ($120 more expensive than OnePlus5T 128GB)
I'm using Xperia Z2 for 3 years and a half so I want to upgrade phone that is most worthy and could be used for long or 3 years at least.
Thanks you in advance. :good:
I'm a heavy user also, I've only used the 5t in store and it looks and feels great, too light even... The screen is super bright and vivid don't worry about it being 1080p.. It looks great. Oxygen OS is super fast and has handy features, the cameras are good but not the best. But fine for missy things...
I've had my u11 plus since January and I honestly love it, the cameras are perfect, the speakers and headphones are top quality, the phone itself feels super premium, I do use the clear case included every day because it is super slippery and WILL fall off a table if it isn't perfectly flat.
Htc sense is fine, not bloated or anything, but I customise a lot so use nova. The screen is perfectly fine, sharp, good colours but not the brightest outdoors, I've not had any issues though. It's a lot heavier than the 5t but in a good way, it feels solid, well made...
Battery life is great, I've had 8 hours screen on easily with 20% ish to spare by 10pm (off charge at 6am)
Ip68 whereas the 5t has none....
No headphone jack but the headphones included are really good and there's the adaptor with built in dac to use if you want...
Any other questions just ask away!

No expandable storage on the 5t...depends on if 128gb is enough for you... 4k video takes up a lot of space...

5Τ has no better performance comparing to u11+, it is the closest piece of performance to pixel.

Even if I was sleeping, I would pick U11+ over OP5T. There is no comparison really. Just the camera alone is worth the price gap. Throw in stunning beauty, IP68, better audio, 3D audio and audio zoom during video, long battery life and U11+ is a winner by a mile!
Only reason to get the OP5T is if you literally cannot afford the difference. Otherwise the U11+ is a no brainer.

I can't add much to what the fellows already said, but I wanted to clarify some things regarding your advantages of the 5T:
Dash Charge - U11+ has really fast charging as well, usually I have my phone fully charged from ~10% to 100% in 1:40 hr. Taking in mind it has a bigger battery, I could say that somehow is on pair with Dash Charge.
Brightness - Is true that U11+ doesn't have the brighter screen, but is not an issue at all. I usually go ~50% screen brightness with adaptive mode and is enough, even at direct sunlight. The real test will be the sun in summer, but still I'm confident it will be enough.
Performance - I don't think you will notice a better performance, I would say this is a tie for both. Probably for games you will notice a little drop in frames in the U11+ because is pushing a lot more of pixels, but also is a disadvantage in the 5T to have "just" a FHD screen.
Durability - I don't know if you meant as battery or more into the life cycle of the device. For battery, with an almost 4000mAh battery you won't have to worry at all. I can easily do 7-9 hrs SOT, and sometimes I have reached 11 hrs SOT. Regarding the support and updates, HTC usually keep updated their flagships for 2 years. The HTC 10 from 2 years ago just received Oreo.
You can try to buy directly from HTC and you can get a nice discount, or even at stores you can find it little bit cheaper.
Overall, I wouldn't consider the 5T but just for the price tag, because the screen, the speakers and the camera are enough reason already to buy the U11+.
:highfive:
I've used U11(not plus) and I can say that it is proper falgship both from outside and inside.
In every aspect.
So U11+ must be better.
But if you are a long duration user(like for 2 or more years), I suggest you wait till June and decide between OP6 and U12.
It's just a few months...

Official HTC store hasn't brought this U11+ , but I'll bring it anyway. Cheers!
Had an 1+1, 1+3, and 1+5, loved em all but when I looked around at the market I considered what I was paying for and what I was getting vs other flagships. I do miss the DASH charge as no one comes really close to it but that's splitting hairs. The ROM community is strong and the updates are strong on the Oxygen OS. But, I got my HTC U11 and U11+ off Swappa, and if you wait for the right price it's a much better phone than the 5T.
I enjoy the water proofing, the remarkably better camera, expandable storage, quad screen, little things that made it worth it for me to jump. I'll have my U11+ for at least 2 years if not longer depending on the ROM community.
