Wifi and Cellular performance in the US? - Huawei MediaPad X2

I had a Mediapad X1 in the US and the Wifi seemed to be really bad. it was very picky about what Wifi access points it would connect to and when it did the performance was not that great.
The Cellular network (HSPA+) wasn't as bad but still had its issues too. Just seemed like the radio firmware for the US market wasn't really that good.
For you US folks, has the radio's in the X2 been working pretty well?

I had the the ascend mate 2 and it had great cell signal with 4g lte and the honor x2 has great cell cell signal with hspa+. I had the blu 6.0 hd lte, the asus memo pad x, and the verizon note 3 which was was working on 3g with a at&t in it. Where I stay the huawei honor x2 beat them hands down with no problem. 2 to 3 bars while the the blu barely gets a signal, and the memo dropped calls, and the note 3 started in 3g but would reduce to 2g alot with 1 bar alot. The memo and blu would do 4g lte some times (25%) but no need when I have comcast at home. And that is the main reason why I stick with huawei phones.

For what it's worth, I get a better signal on my Mediapad X2 than I get on my Nexus 6. I generally have a better signal on the X2. Wifi seems like it's on par with every other phone I've owned. T-Mobile's HSPA+ is pretty fast. I don't miss having LTE at all honestly.

Ok, good to know. Maybe my X1 was just bad or something. Wifi would stall and disconnect all the time....
Thanks!

I will let you know tomorrow after had a bit of time to test. I don't have 4G so can't comment on that though.
No probs on 4g rarely use that my galaxy mega pulls 20mb down on HSDPA in London which us faster than the 4g just wanna know how you think it is compared to your previous phone
Also how's emotionui only thing holding me back is wheter its any good. Root would be nice but I guess that will come
Honestly emui so much better than touchwizz or lg ui its crazy. Ignore these reviews from companies that need to.make revenue from the big players. Trust me I had m7 , lgg3 and many sammy units plus nokias and currently still have z2 out of all of them this ui is great. When you get it you will feel the same. If I thought it was crap I would just keep my z2 but I am selling it and keeping this. The ui is a mix betweeen lg and sammy. More lg but with some iphone touchs
Check my camera samples also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2940664
What is the version they sell?
Amazon uk now selling it Huawei Ascend Mate7 - Android Phone - GSM / UMTS by Huawei Deutschland http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NEEXACE/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mXUCub0BXPHSE
No 4G then?
Just asked seller Expoitalyweb:
" Are you 100% sure it supports lte fdd band 3, 7 and 20?"
Thats what I got for an answer...:
"The connectivity is: Wi-Fi: 802.11 a/b/g/n (WiFi Direct, WiFi WPS) Bluetooth: 4.0 USB 2.0 HS. For more technical details can be found at Huawei website directly. Best regards"
Clearly doesn't want this question to be asked..
This is my model from Amazon.fr using it on EE but have no 4G on my plan. I will check with wife's sim which is EE and 4g sim yo see if it works.
If that's L09 version than it shpould support LTE FDD Bands: 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28. Let us know once you check with your wife's card, ok?

4G LTE

Hi,
I've noticed that if I set network to 4G LTE battery drain is something like 1.5x/2x than 3G. Anyone else noticed this
Honor 6, International Version, with Lollipop

Probably you don't have good 4G coverage where you live/work, and phone must increase power to get decent signal.
Use 3G, and only swich to 4G when really need it, waiting that phone company installs new 4G antennas around you.

Well, the 4g modem needs more power. So, the battery would drain isn't really a surprise. mikicl could be also right.

How's your LTE speeds?

Hi guys,
Looking to get this phone to use as a personal hotspot. Currently using an htc m7 and the speeds are pretty bad compared to my one plus x due to the poor LTE antenna.
Can you guys share your LTE speeds? And if you're using your g3 as a hotspot, how's it performing?
Ta!

Well on both regards... Motorola/Moto has always been known for excellent quality radios even going back to the flip-phone days (think original RAZR/V3), and I have had no issues with LTE or hotspot, and it holds a signal very well. Although remember that the Moto G 2015 only supports LTE CAT4 (150/50 Mbps) and has a lot less "horsepower" than the One X, it can't really make any use into a 50Mbps data stream. TBH, other thank Hotspot, any speed over about 4Mbps is not important, the latency and responsiveness is much more important.
Appreciate the feedback! Thanks

Testing to a server about 200 miles away, my pings are about 95ms and I get 25Mbps down/7Mbps up. That's a good average for me, I can test it all day and it's pretty steady with those numbers.

Surprisingly weak cell signal indoors

I'm a Tmobile customer who recently upgraded from Galaxy S5 to Mate 9. My new Mate 9 struggles to get a cell signal in my house, which prohibits sending/receiving texts and making/receiving calls. It mostly says Emergency Calls Only or No Service at the top of the screen. I did not have these issues with my mid-2014 device, so I'm surprised and disappointed to have them today. Could be a deal breaker in keeping the device.
Are there any settings or changes I can make within the device to improve signal strength?
That is surprising, as I've had much better reception compared to my Note 3. No settings changed, just popped in the SIM (after cutting it down to fit). But I should add that my Note 3 was an AT&T version, which did not support t-mobile's Band 12, so it's POSSIBLE that extra band has contributed to my better reception.

I kinda wonder if this phone actually gets band 12. There seems to be no way to see what band ur phones using and i get better reception by a lot at work and my apartment with my pixel xl than my mate 9. How can it be certified on band 12 with tmobile and not have wifi calling on tmobile?

I don't see why the two would be related. My understanding is WiFi calling is a somewhat proprietary function: WiFi calling on T-mobile is different than WiFi calling on AT&T, etc., so the software to use it is specific to the carrier. Band 12 is just another band. If the phone supports it (and it's supposed to), then it should work.
I live in a somewhat poor t-mobile spot: I typically only got 1 or 2 two at home, and 1 bar, to sometimes no service in the Kroger a block away from me. With the Mate 9, I'm getting 3-4 bars in both places.

But with band 12 doesnt you're phone have to be certified by T-Mobile to really work on band 12? I thot it did which in turn made me thing, why would it be band 12 certifed and not have T-Mobiles wifi calling certified?

I'm not aware of anything "special" about band 12 vs. any other band.
Yeah the exact opposite over here. Really strong signals indoor not to mention where my Nexus 6p and note 4 signals would be dead zero, I'm still able to get LTE. And yeah it does have band 12
I've tried my phone in Japan on Docomo and AU networks, and in the US on T-Mobile, and I haven't had trouble with reception at all. But obviously, this is totally subjective and is based on your location relative towers.
Total opposite for me, slightly better reception that with my previous phones.

Appreciate the feedback. I'll need to expedite a decision to either return it or hope for a resolution at some future point. Thanks!
yeap, band 12 (indoor) band sucks on my CHN 6/128 turned EU. I had a US Mate 9 and indoor reception sucked as well. My old LG V20 and Note 7 had better indoor signal.
I have 2 bars 4g where i couldn't have signal on other phones.

T-Mobile Users

Hello, so I'm currently looking to replace my phone and the only phone that fits my needs is the z6. My only concern is comparability with tmo. Do any z6 owners use tmo? And if so, how is the lte? If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
My last phone was oneplus 3, and I'd say speed is about on par, both get LTE. But no voLTE for zenfone. There are places where I'm getting receptions and oneplus 3 didn't. I don't think you will notice much difference, unless you are in a place where band 71 is normal.
I get better data speeds than my gfs Galaxy s9. I'm in Chicago
For the most part it's ok speeds could be a tad faster at times but 90% of the time coverage and speeds are fine
No volte or wifi calling
Sent from my Asus Zenfone 6 using Tapatalk
works well with TMobile
All good for me. As above, only thing is missing volte and wifi calling. Using the phone successfully on tmo in Southern California and roaming in Taiwan and China.
