Engineering Bootloader G920F - Downgrade 5.1.1 to 5.0.2 - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

as i said in the title,
i know that there is this engineering bootloader that keep safe the knox status if you want to mod the phone.
my question is simple, if i install this particular bootloader, i'll have root and custom recovery, is it possible to install a rom/custom rom/ stock firmware with the 5.0.2?
thanks.

Yes, only finger scanner wont work on 5.1.1 roms.
And your title mentions downgrading, I don't know if that is possible. If you can downgrade from a 5.1.1 bootloader to the 5.0.2 engineering bootloader and install 5.0.2. roms, please do tell because 5.0.2 was the best.

i heard that custom rom based on 5.0.2 are flashable over a s6 with 5.1.1 (rooted with engineering bootloader) right? i JUST want to know this.
someone answer please, also if is not possible. but dont leave us with this doubt. please.

Group
hello, you have a group of mo hangouts testers or other app? if so, you could add me? thanks my email is ([email protected])
Help me please.
Here what happened. I was initially on WanamLite.XXU2BOFO.V2.2 rom. Decided to flash Arcadia 4 so carefully read all the instructions on the first page. Downloaded the latest BL n Baseband files from the front page (G920F_XXU2BOGG_BOOTLOADER.tar and G920F_XXU2BOGG_BASEBAND.tar). Flashed both in ODIN 3.10.6 and the phone automatically rebooted. Then on the first screen where it says Galaxy S6. There are two lines in red color saying :
Kernel is not seandroid enforcing
System Rev. Check Fail. Device:2, Binary:1
And its stuck there since then. Have tried everything like several tries to reboot, flash Unibase kernel, TWRP from ODIN. Nothing works. Its just stuck there and wont go past no matter what I do. Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated

i noticed some users r still confused about bootloaders & basebands..
IM A G920T TMOBILE USA USER
1. since i can't use this fw baseband & bootloader i use my carriers latest fw and use both the baseband & bootloader from that fw
2. i clean install & flash the rom!
i have zero issues! this is how it is done if u can not flash a G920F bootloader & baseband due to have a different model!
REMEMBER!
IF YOUR MODEL & CARRIER HAVE NOT RELEASED A 5.1.1 FW THAT U COULD USE THE BASEBAND & BOOTLOADER FROM, IF U FLASH THIS ROM, UR FINGERPRINT SCANNER WILL NOT WORK, & YOU MAY HAVE POSSIBLE OTHER ISSUES! USE A 5.1.1 BOOTLOADER & BASEBAND FOR BEST RESULTS!
**********************************************************************************************
hello, I don´t know which bootloader & baseband to use because my original carrier is T-mobile, but I changed it to metro in order to unlock sim. I am on 5.0.2 metroPCs firmware and ROM(STOCK ROM), now my phone says model number: sm-g920t1 but real is sm-g90t when I was on T-mobile firmware, do I have to get bootloader & baseband from 5.1.1 metroPCs STOCK ROM(is there any???), can someone confirm if these are of metroPCs 5.1.1,
SAMMOBILE (SM-G920T1)
2015-08-01 USA (T-Mobile) 5.1.1 G920T1UVU2COFB G920T1TMB2COFB
2015-06-01 USA (T-Mobile) 5.1.1 G920T1UVU2COF9 G920T1TMB2COF9
I suppouse I just have to flash this to obtain its baseband and bootloader(keep sim unlocked) and then install ARCADIA ?? Has someone tried??? can somebody confirm if this work and sim keeps unlocked??
I am afraid because If I flash this I can´t go back to 5.0.2(G920T1UVU1AOCH) and I will have to flash T-mobile 5.1.1 and SIM will be locked.
please someone clarify me
thanks in advance to everyone
Good rom !!

Flashing D6603 5.1.1 on D6616

Why can't we flash the D6603 pre-rooted XZDR 5.1.1 Rom on a rooted/recovery D6616? I thought the only thing stopping us before was that we did not have root or a custom recovery on the 6616, so we could not do it without losing DRM keys. Has that changed or not?
Because bricking your phone isn't fun
Right, I understand that there are risks involved. What I am trying to understand is what in particular creates those risks. Could you explain a little further why flashing a D6603 zip would brick the D6616?
I am curious about this as well.
I just recently got my Z3, which I had to unlock since I use AT&T. I now want to root and put 5.1 on it, but it seems like the T-Mobile one is so locked down. As far as I know about DRM keys I don't really care about them since I am not planning on using any Sony software (except maybe the camera software) If I could just put 5.1 on it, with a camera app that shoots RAW I would be happy.
What version do you have? We have root for the D6616 but that won't help us get 5.1 from what I can see. Best bet is to get the D6603 if that is what is most important to you.

I have the D6616.... I guess I don't care so much about 5.1 as I do getting the best battery life possible. But it looks like custom roms are not available since the boatloader is locked?

That's correct - we're limited to modifications of stock. But that makes me wonder why 5.1.1 wouldn't work.

I've been looking for a 5.1.1 for the D6616..... Prerooted.... No one has this yet? I am on 4.4.4 stock rooted ROM, and I have a flashable 5.0.1, but I see no reason to not want 5.1.1, so why do you say root on 5.1.1 isn't doable?

It's not root that's not doable. There exist 5.1.1 prerooted zips for D6603. The issue is that 5.1.1 for the D6616 has not been released yet, hence it has not not been rooted.

Why you think that i would not search in google?
All what i found are like pingpong, which doesn't wok in 5.1.1 only in 5.0.2 and cf-autoroot which is also only for 5.0.2 and if i flash it, it put my phone to booloop
So i was wondering if there is any other way to root my G920F with 5.1.1 than unikrnel which is only working method i have found...

G920F , not sure if it works on the I or not. You need the engineer bootloader, and I think that only F and T have leaked, but... not sure.
You can also try this:

Motorola doesn't post firmware images?

Am I missing something here? The only android phones I used were Nexus 5 and OnePlus one, both which provided full firmware images for each update. However, all I find with Motorola is the original firmware 5.1.1, some have 6.0 found on xda.
I understand that when rooted, OTA updates do not work. So each time there is an update is the only choice to restore to 5.1.1 and OTA update to the new firmware? This seems like such a pain having to reset everything each time. Is there an easy way to update rooted stock?

Do not update from an older system version to a newer via OTA if you have done it before, in most cases it will hardbrick your phone (happened to my Moto G1 and my friends G3)

Firmware update without losing root & settings

Hey guys,
I have seen that there is a new firmware update for the S8 and I was wondering if I can do that with my rooted S8 and how.
Will I lose root? What do I have to attend to?

Depends which root (sorry bad pun) you go down tbf. If you are rooted and have custom recovery then you can flash one of the updated roms which has the updated firmware as its base.
The other way to update would be to use odin to flash the official firmware, with this method though you will lose root.
I have just rooted the original firmware which was on the phone. Will I lose any data if I flash the newer firmware with odin?
with flashfire you could update the firmware without losing the man's data and root, but does not seem to work properly.
