Why can't we flash the D6603 pre-rooted XZDR 5.1.1 Rom on a rooted/recovery D6616? I thought the only thing stopping us before was that we did not have root or a custom recovery on the 6616, so we could not do it without losing DRM keys. Has that changed or not?
Because bricking your phone isn't fun
Right, I understand that there are risks involved. What I am trying to understand is what in particular creates those risks. Could you explain a little further why flashing a D6603 zip would brick the D6616?
I am curious about this as well.
I just recently got my Z3, which I had to unlock since I use AT&T. I now want to root and put 5.1 on it, but it seems like the T-Mobile one is so locked down. As far as I know about DRM keys I don't really care about them since I am not planning on using any Sony software (except maybe the camera software) If I could just put 5.1 on it, with a camera app that shoots RAW I would be happy.
What version do you have? We have root for the D6616 but that won't help us get 5.1 from what I can see. Best bet is to get the D6603 if that is what is most important to you.

I have the D6616.... I guess I don't care so much about 5.1 as I do getting the best battery life possible. But it looks like custom roms are not available since the boatloader is locked?

That's correct - we're limited to modifications of stock. But that makes me wonder why 5.1.1 wouldn't work.

I've been looking for a 5.1.1 for the D6616..... Prerooted.... No one has this yet? I am on 4.4.4 stock rooted ROM, and I have a flashable 5.0.1, but I see no reason to not want 5.1.1, so why do you say root on 5.1.1 isn't doable?

It's not root that's not doable. There exist 5.1.1 prerooted zips for D6603. The issue is that 5.1.1 for the D6616 has not been released yet, hence it has not not been rooted.

You can't down grade moto devices, I don't understand what you meant by alternatives, you can't do it via fast boot that I know of yet

I took it to mean that he, like many others who received 4.4.4 ( myself included) on their Maxx when it was shipped to them, would like to be able to root the device. I think he wants to downgrade back to 4.4 to do this. By alternative, he meant if it wasn't possible was there another way to get root. Of course the answer there is no.
Hello, i see a lot of developing for other roms out there, and we just received root the week before last, I managed to install a dual custom recovery (cwm, twrp) and it works fine, but there isn't a ROM to change to or flash.
when i see other models have locked bootloaders and use custom roms, is there any way we could make an aosp rom without cyanogenmod, (i prefer aosp roms without the tweaks and bugs), a stock rom would be fine as well, cheers

The same happened for the Tmobile USA Sony xperia z1s. We had root but a locked bootloader. There were a few devs who were trying to build a rom from scratch but became difficult of a task due to locked BL and no access to the kernel so it was abandoned. Im sure the same will happen to this. Only roms i expect to see are custom stock roms based on the stock rom.

So a couple of months ago you had root on the T-Mobile z3 and used a custom recovery to flash a different firmware? Or did you use flashtool?
When I get my z3 back I am going to simply try it, but because it worked out with my TL doesn't mean it will work with my Z3

At the time root was not working on the d6616 so that was not possible. It might be now but I have not tried.

I am afraid to try to flash, if you can, please try it we will be glad this work.
I tried last week and I bricked my phone. Took me a few hrs to recover it but it's fine now. Restored back to stock.
Any new ideas???
Now that 5.1.1 is out are there new hopes?
Hello guys,
I've downloaded firmware 5.1.1 for my Galaxy S6 SM-G920F but I didn't flash it because some of the websites said that it will cause battery drainage very badly.
Any one has done it? what about solving Ram issue? any information please

Because if you update to 5.1.1 you have to break/trip knox to gain root, but if you have 5.0.2 you won't have to
Thanks for the info,
What about downgrading? Is it possible to get back to 5.0.2 after the update?

5.1.1 is much smoother and have less battery drain in my opinion.
I don't care about knoxx, the only thing what is important is smoothness of my phone.
I tryed custom recovery, stock recovery, root, no root,
And to be honest now I'm running the latest Xtrestolite (odex) and it's the best update till now! ( in my opinion )
5.1.1 will come to you at some point weather you like it or not. Best version of 5.1.1 is the one offered via OTA which is specific to your country. No fears of bricking your phone or voiding your warranty. A little patience is needed to wait for it as Samsung deploys it slower than we expected it. If you are the one who cares only for the latest which on most cases is the greatest and willing to take risks then flash away.
Thanks guys for the answers,
Mine is SM-G920F which the update came for france! Is it workable in other countries?
I'm just wondering is the 920F the more popular international model over the 920I? I have the 920F by the way.
There seems to be all kinds of bugs with 5.1.1, is it worth updating to it? If anything, I think I'll at least wait for the OTA, I live in America so will I get the OTA at same time as others around the world?
Can anyone confirm longer exposures than 1/10 sek in 5.1.1? For example try Manual Camera. In 5.0.2 the max. exposure is 1/10
Thanks!
I've updated it and its really smooth and faster.
But unfortunately the Ram Issue is the same! Still reaching 88%!!
Its a large update, its o er 500mb. I updated with no problems. I find the battery life a bit better. The phone runs smoother and there are a few extras with camera. I'm nit a camera person but do a search and you'll get the idea of the chance. You can now get rid off s finder and quick connect. Other features too. I like the update and Knox is not important to me, however. YOU CAN'T ROOT, right now.

Says Kernel not supported and it wont boot. Now have to use Odin to get back. 920P is not supported! Can't get back thru Odin so I'm letting it boot. Taking a long time and but finally there. I had to wipe everything. I'll let you know if it's rooted now. It booted but can;t use touch.
Did you guys update to 5.1 via ota? I'm in the UK with a non branded s6 and nothing available for me
Any way to downgrade to Kitkat 4.4.4?
Thanks
Mod Edit:
Thread closed at OPs request.
You can downgrde by using Flashtool by @Androxyde and flash 4.4.4 ftf for your model but you will loose your data because of lollipop ART. If you need a ftf i can upload one for you

Thanks. I'm not going to flash it right now, but I'll need latest version of Kitkat available for D2302. I'll get my hands on a PC in a week, then I'll flash the phone.
I have one question though.
After downgrading through flashtool, will my phone be able to recieve OTA? (in case they decide to release fix for camera) Or will I have to flash again for update?
And I saw that some people were saying they had good camera after lollipop, May I know what did they do?

Yes, after downgrading you will be able to OTA upgrade to lollipop but I think OTA won't work if you have an unlocked bootloader. And i don't know how people with a good camera quality have do this.

Hi,
Could anyone please upload latest stock Kitkat 4.4.4 ftf for D2302 India?
Is there any difference between different countries ftf? Like FM frequency, etc.
And one last question, Can I flash stock Sony ftf with Locked Bootloader? And will it still be able to get official updates?
Thanks
Hey everyone,
I'm curious if anyone knows what the latest Android version of any ROM is for the D6616. Note that I am specifically looking for this tmo version of the Xperia Z3, D6616. I see plenty of ROMs for the other D66xx variants but not much for the T-Mobile D6616.
I'm pretty much stuck on the stock ROM that Serophia devised, which is a good rooted 5.0.2 upgrade ROM from the stock JB ROM, but it would be nice to at least get to MM.
Much appreciated everyone.
-Johnathan
@johnathanamber did you try checking xperifirm to see what was the latest Rom it shows against D6616?
The latest official ROM is the one in on but with a security update.
I was wanting to know if there was a custom ROM with good functionality that I could use to replace the official ROM but be on MM, etc. Something later than 5.0.2.
Much appreciate the reply though.

nop, I on 5.0.2 too, there's no custom rom support for this Z3 variant, not that I really care about cuz is working just fine with stock rom
@chrustoph34,
Definitely agree that the current stock ROM is sufficient and works fine. I'm more concerned about the security updates that MM provides.
