Hi,
I have pulled out my old HTC One XL for my daughter to use.
Interestingly the her One XL device now sends me an SMS with the Google location (longitude and latitude).
If i disable location services, I still get an SMS saying "Network problem, location not found"
I cant figure out what is doing this and also how to disable this.
HTC said to disable Cell Broadcast but this did not stop the SMS.
Any help is appreciated.

I have a HTC Touch - Windows Mobile 6.0 device and recently changed mobile provider. Now whenever I active the phone on my device I get a pop-up with the same message each time (an ad for backing up the Sim contacts with the provider). If I press ok I get another pop-up 30 seconds later.
I looked for a way to turn off the pop-ups but can't find anything. Does anybody know a way to turn this off?
I don't have a solution for stopping the messages, but might I suggest actually taking the SMS's advice and backing up your contacts, maybe then it will actually stop bugging you?
Thanks Jadel I don't think that will help however, though I won't be able to test until I fully switch providers. My contacts are already backed up in Gmail, Hotmail and Exchange.
May be there is contact backup as sim service? Go to sim services and look for this service if any????? May be you can do something from there.

that's a good suggestion. it seems your provider has something to do with this as i'm not familiar with anything that offers this weird thing automatically.
Hi there,
I want to log the routes that my car is driving via the HD2 which is lying in my car. I do not want to manually check a map on the device itself. At best it should send the information to a website which shows the location and routes on a map.
In case the car gets stolen I then could locate it via the HD2 which is hidden in the trunk.
Any ideas? I tried spysat but it does not seem to be very stable and is sucking the battery empty in no time .
any help is appreciated.
The tracking softwares which answer to a sms with special commands do not work for me because the HD2 can't receive sms. It is only my second device with the same phone number and the messages are received by my main phone.
Is anyone else seeing very slow notifications of new gmail messages on their HTC One S?
My HTC Desire also received them within a few seconds, but the One S seems to take up to 15 minutes to get them. I can't find any settings to change, HTC seem to have hidden away any options?
Thanks
I seem to have found my own solution - I have an Exchange account also configured on the device, and I had "Smart Sync" enabled for it.
Changing that to "Push notification" has seemingly moved gmail to push notifications too...
So if i don't have an exchange account I'm likely to have problems with mail coming in slow?
No, I think it's a bug (or "feature") when you configure an Exchange email account, alongside a gmail account.
If you don't configure an Exchange account at all, then Gmail seems to run fine - it's only if I configure Exchange, then select "Smart Sync" as the email collection method, that Gmail also becomes affected by the Smart sync policy.
Since it seems as though you found the solution I'm going to close this. Pm me if you need it reopened.

I got problem. I always got the SMS from unknow displaying the cell site while I drive or move to other place.
How to stop this automatic SMS
Thank you
Got a weird one here for you guys. My ATT Note 8 will not display the contact information when someone calls. If I do not answer the phone it will display a notification that I missed a call from that person (displaying the name). I have checked everything I can think of.
I've tried rebooting and toggling "only display contacts w/ names" (was recommended from a Google search). When it is paired to my company truck it displays the names on the radio as normal but only the number is displayed on the phone. I cleared the cache and data from my Google account. Removed the Google account and redone it. Toggled everything possible in the dialer settings.
When ringing it displays only the number with a button below it that says "add to contacts" but when you go to call history it displays the correct contact information.
The only thing I have not done, yet, is a factory reset.
Anyone had this issue or know how to fix it?
Anyone?
I've had the same issue.... Hope we can find a fix....
Have y'all tried the settings in the phone app (green phone icon)? There's a setting under "other settings" that says show contact info. Mine was on by default so I i don't know why it would be turned off.
Hope this help
Had a same issue. i am from India and i deleted the vodafone applications and boom it was solved.
could be similar issue. go to any phone number in your contacts and see which apps have use the permission and try deleting those apps.
