BLN is currently implemented in cyanogenmod / vurrutrom as a modification of the ROM (opensource liblights), not the kernel. Therefore it will work on every kernel.
You need the lights.latona.so file from cyanogenmod and must rename it to lights.omap3.so.
The correct, renamed file is attached for your convenience.
Make a backup of /system/lib/hw/lights.omap3.so and replace it with the attached file.
After that, change the permissions to match all other files in the folder and reboot.
Changing permissions on a terminal:
cd /system/lib/hw
chmod 644 lights.omap3.so
reboot bootloader
Click to collapse
if you want to use a root explorer, permissions for the file are rw-r--r--
Note that most Google apps and Facebook do support led notifications but touchwiz apps don't...
Further, if you are using any touchwiz apps, then you will need Light Flow from the market, to have notifications of those apps. Adjust Light Flow settings to your liking, but do not enable omap_bl control.
About Lightflow config:
On General settings > enable button backlight control
On notifications > enable button backlight LED and leave brightness at 255
Use led flash-rate very slow or always on (works best for me)
Works perfect with whatsapp on KPQ, thanks!
Thanks !!!
Tried it when you posted @bck kernel thread.
Good you opened a new thread.
Thanks. Working great.
Can you give some details/instructions about light flow settings? I'm finding it a bit difficult to set up.
Thank You Pibe, working in UBKPE (Gb Argentina)
works for kp3, Many thank!!
would this work in miui rom ??

yes, it should work... and as miui doesn't have touchwiz apps, lightflow isn't needed

This is really very nice. Thanks for the explanation it would be really usefull.
Will this add to the extra battery consumption? Or no noticable effects on battery? But this is really good work.

Doesnt really affect the battery as the lights hav minimum usage.Im using miui and it uses this mod and I dont really see any difference in battery consumption.

i tried it. no doubt, it works, but just for my opinion, after setting the config provided in the first post, the bln is not that real time, sometimes it just doesn't let you be notified. the bln is not consistent in other words. but this is great work. maybe there are some files that need to be configure, and work with lights.omap to make this mod consistent and reliable when it comes to notifying the user.
I am still saying that it will be great if we able to make bln mod in kernel itself. There are lots of apps which are available in market but it requires bln kernel mod. If we able to make it then easily we can change the blinking rate of bln like galaxy S users have done since age ago.

here's where i read the thread of bln control saying that blinking backlight (for notifications) can consume battery than static backlight (just for lighting the button when pressing backlight buttons).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823922
but i really hope we can have this in every kernel and also making it as like it doesn't consume battery life at all, and also real time and consistent notifications.
@ alfrix
I just read somewhere that cm 7.2 has released with some ICS features backported to GB. One of it is ICS rotation animation. Like how we have ported bln feature can we take a file from cm 7.2 which is responsuble for ICS rotation so that we can have ICS rotation animation in out stock GB formwares also???

It needs a lot of framework changes: look here for that reason every firmware version must be modded individually or a lot of problems will arise...
For now i'm looking forward to port full bln (kernel mod + this liblights) but i have little time because of college... you may try to decompile framework-res and make the changes yourself... everyone starts somewhere
Hello! I am looking for the best fliashlight app available. I use the stock one from ICS 4.0 at the moment, but I hate how when I lock the screen, it turns off! Is there a flashlight app out there that stays on until you tell it to turn off? Let me know!

TelsaLED for sure. I used it before CM9 had the built in torch app. It's got a lot of cool features, better than the CM9 one I just downloaded to test, and the light did stay on after I locked the phone.
I do like Tiny Flashlight by Nikolay Ananiev the most, because u can create an homescreen widget for quick start.
Flashlight app of course...
I gave Flashlight LED Genius a try, and I think I like it the most. You can turn the light on from your lock screen by simply shaking your phone, and they make it so the lockscreen doesn't turn off for a set amount of time that you can adjust. Definitely a nice light app.

Flashlight. Plus the widget
yea... Flashlight
Flashlight... As everyone else agrees
The best flashlight app I have used is this simple sucker right here. It turns on automatic, plus it has an option where you can just tap the light icon whenever you need the light so it doesn't have to stay on the entire time. No Bells and Whistles - just a simple flashlight app.
Actually, I can't post the link so just go to Google Play - type in 831 media and the app is called SIMPLE LED FLASHLIGHT.
My 2 cents....
StoneBuckles
Maybe there are any direct links to your Flashlight apps?
The only link here is the TeslaLED and please try to enter just "Flashlight" in the Playstore... you will not find exactly what you want
So it would be VERY helpfull if you guys can link the app's directly, thanks
I find the flashlight in Pie Control is quite easy to use.
Built-in quick settings toggle in 6.0.1/ Battery Widget Reborn (had the free one, but i upgraded to the paid variant)

They have been giving you the names of the apps, you just have to search for the app they mentioned rather than "flashlight". You have to have 10 posts to post links.

I downloaded this app mainly because you said it was highly customizable and stayed on when your screen was off and I like it.
Very customizable, has modes for On/Off, Off after x minutes, On while holding toggle, Text to Morse code with option to repeat continuously, and a couple of others.
Even the widget is customizable and it also stayed on for me when I turned my screen off.

Hi, this one is really nice compared to those transparent ones :good: , I like the style, especially icons and full opacity of the upper part.
Could it be possible to disable the "black eagle" image in notification screen ? It would be perfect for me without this image

Optimized search function allows you to quickly find the file or folder.

I only tested on HTC sensation with CM 9.1 ROM, I think there're some bugs on different devce, so If you have some problems or suggests, please reply here, I'll fix it as soon as possible.
If you find some problem, please post here.
A few things after just try the app: the interface is nice,a little too rainbow there, but good looking, so far no problems; the bar in the bottom is taking precious space, could the settings and exit buttons be somewhere else?? Top bar should be less polluted also.
Overall this app was everything we expect from a file manager:thumbup:
I installed the app on CM7.2 on Galaxy Ace I. I really like the app, but i faced some FCs when giving root permission, but still works.
Btw, i really like the UI and it is pretty smooth. My suggestion for the app is to include an option to block the app with a password.
@edit
Never mind, FCs was SuperUser related.

Why is the right door always locked?
Works fast and really well this will be my new default file manager, but can you make the root permissions stick?
Thanks in advance

Exactly!
A LAN SMB client and root explorer options (like setting permissions) would be great too (both are presents on ES File Explorer or Root Explorer).
With these suggestions, for sure it would be my default file manager. :good:

Thanks for your suggest. I'll add the password function in v1.1, and root explorer is already support, you can get root permission on setting by touch "Get root access permission", and if you want to modify file on system, you also need touch "Mount system to read/write".
And something like "LAN SMB client" will support on later version.
Thanks.

So after extensive reading, I believe I can increase the torch brightness by using an older torch apk. Post 33s, the torch brightness was cut in 1/2.
May one of you guys share the system torch.apk and the show me a picture of the permission settings?
I tried getting the file from the 25R zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541).... however, after a long download, I could not extract the require file.
Any help would be much appreciated.
