BLN is currently implemented in cyanogenmod / vurrutrom as a modification of the ROM (opensource liblights), not the kernel. Therefore it will work on every kernel.
You need the lights.latona.so file from cyanogenmod and must rename it to lights.omap3.so.
The correct, renamed file is attached for your convenience.
Make a backup of /system/lib/hw/lights.omap3.so and replace it with the attached file.
After that, change the permissions to match all other files in the folder and reboot.
Changing permissions on a terminal:
cd /system/lib/hw
chmod 644 lights.omap3.so
reboot bootloader
Click to collapse
if you want to use a root explorer, permissions for the file are rw-r--r--
Note that most Google apps and Facebook do support led notifications but touchwiz apps don't...
Further, if you are using any touchwiz apps, then you will need Light Flow from the market, to have notifications of those apps. Adjust Light Flow settings to your liking, but do not enable omap_bl control.
About Lightflow config:
On General settings > enable button backlight control
On notifications > enable button backlight LED and leave brightness at 255
Use led flash-rate very slow or always on (works best for me)
Works perfect with whatsapp on KPQ, thanks!
Thanks !!!
Tried it when you posted @bck kernel thread.
Good you opened a new thread.
Thanks. Working great.
Can you give some details/instructions about light flow settings? I'm finding it a bit difficult to set up.

This is really very nice. Thanks for the explanation it would be really usefull.
Will this add to the extra battery consumption? Or no noticable effects on battery? But this is really good work.

i tried it. no doubt, it works, but just for my opinion, after setting the config provided in the first post, the bln is not that real time, sometimes it just doesn't let you be notified. the bln is not consistent in other words. but this is great work. maybe there are some files that need to be configure, and work with lights.omap to make this mod consistent and reliable when it comes to notifying the user.
I am still saying that it will be great if we able to make bln mod in kernel itself. There are lots of apps which are available in market but it requires bln kernel mod. If we able to make it then easily we can change the blinking rate of bln like galaxy S users have done since age ago.

here's where i read the thread of bln control saying that blinking backlight (for notifications) can consume battery than static backlight (just for lighting the button when pressing backlight buttons).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823922
but i really hope we can have this in every kernel and also making it as like it doesn't consume battery life at all, and also real time and consistent notifications.

I just read somewhere that cm 7.2 has released with some ICS features backported to GB. One of it is ICS rotation animation. Like how we have ported bln feature can we take a file from cm 7.2 which is responsuble for ICS rotation so that we can have ICS rotation animation in out stock GB formwares also???

It needs a lot of framework changes: look here for that reason every firmware version must be modded individually or a lot of problems will arise...
For now i'm looking forward to port full bln (kernel mod + this liblights) but i have little time because of college... you may try to decompile framework-res and make the changes yourself... everyone starts somewhere

There's an app on the market called led light(or something like that) that gives you the sense looking widgets. Only thing is that the app graphic looks like crap. So I went in and changed the graphic to the HTC one lol.
PM me if you want it. I don't want to upload someone else's work with my changes w/out his permission.
Works great on DC 3.2.3.
Thanks.
In case anyone cares, I tested it with cm6. It installs, works great.
I dont see any link! Is it cuz im using the xda app?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It will install but no actually work on the DX with the 2/2 OTA
FWIW I used to use LED Light until it's graphic conflicted with my new theme. Now I use 'Extended Controls' (~$1) that is a pretty damn customizable power control widget (wifi/3G/etc) that also has a button to make the LED light up.
It may not be worth the money for just the light, but since you can customize your power control widget to any size and any number of controls + unobtrusive LED light, I'd say it's worth it.
Sigh... I can't even link a pic of it because I'm still a noob.
EDIT: I actually don't know if it will work on 2.1 either - I don't see a minimum version requirement. Also, I thought I'd list it's 'controls' - MANY more than stock lets you play with. (Another reason it's worth the $1)

Hello All,
I am not de developer of this app, but I find it very usefull and wanted to share it. Its called SpareParts and people that have had previous android phones are probably familiar with it.
However, I never found it in any Xperia X10 rom, and everytime I tried to install one from the internet, it just wouldn't work, or didn't include some of the most interesting settings of this app.
Basically SpareParts is a system tweaker, and lets you change a variety of settings which makes it a very handy tool.
I recently found one which included Compcache and CPU settings that worked fine on my X10.
For those who don't know, enabling compcache allows android to compress RAM and results in overall better performance.
It also has working CPU settings (As you may know, most CPU control apps available are unreliable with the X10).
In my case, I used to have ramdom reboot problems , specially when I was heavy using the phone (ie, playing asphalt and streaming music at the same time) and after enabling compache with this app the issue went away.
Also, it allows you to lower the CPU speed without affecting the phone performance too much, so it definitively helps to save a lot of battery.
Anyone willing in to give it a try, here is the link, i suggest setting Swapines to 15 after enabling compache:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7864538/SpareParts-4.apk
The phone seems to be more smooth, but may be a placebo effect.
Please give it a try and share your results.
BTW I am using CM 6.1.1 ROM Tweaked and with extras with custom Sysctl settings posted in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929448
PS.
You may also want to try changing the animation speed to fast (under original spareparts settings). The phone will feel a lot faster
(if you fin this post helpful please don't forget to click the thanks button)

Some of the settings will not work. Maybe a dev can mod the app and just leave the working settings. This version of the app was modded for another device.
I'm on wolfbreak's cm v 4.4 and this definitely made the phone.snappier...
I had to uninstall the original spare parts before installing this one or the compcache setting wouldn't stay after a reboot.
Thanks for this!
would not be fully functional since we are not allowed custom kernals
Sweet!
Thank you! This does have a lot more capabilities than the regular spare parts!!! Will tweek it and give feed back!!!

I see you are using 2.1 ROM. I am not sure if it will work in 2.1. I only tested it in 2.2. However, some of the settings are specific for the device this app was originally made for so they won't work for us (ie the status bar tweaks).

Hi all,
what CM features do you miss in our RAZRi? Maybe we can develop some of them.
My most missed feature at this time is
- long press Back Button to kill app
Tried it to get this work, but got stuck unfortunately.
Any wishes or ideas? Or help?
Maybe the lockscreen features
I miss it
The back kill button too
Status bar mods without flashing mods?
Ooo yes i forgot, themes
Enviado desde mi XT890 usando Tapatalk 2
I miss the menue when hitting the power button where i can chose: power off, reboot, boot in recovery
And i miss that the homescreen does not have a landscape mode.
And the longpress-backbutton, too.
I miss the Theme Chooser and the Kill button aswell. I also miss DSP Settings from CM10, Lockscreen shortcut customization, Kernel Settings and DPI settings.

Would be really nice to see some CM features working on Razr i even without CM itself (personally I don't believe it will ever come...). I somehow hate to have installed many apps to personalise simple things as:
LED color and flashing speed
quiet hours
display brightness levels
and others like:
move apps to sd
and definitely power menu and back button > kill app
Please no fantasy features. Apps2SD is not possible since ICS
Also, +1 for "Power toggles" - move it to /system/app and you have even a GPS toggle. Use it since day one.
In addition to OP, I miss "slide2wake". This must be compiled in the kernel.
More input please

I asked the dev (rovo89) already.
BTW, you are the first person who called me "shaft"... I'm feeling home right now
Well, I think some things from CM are possible to implement. Surely we can't mimic a CM and most of the features are possible via 3rd party apps - just use them. For example the dealbraker "power toggles": I would never start to implement CM toggles because PT is much more powerful and easy to use.
LED control? Use Light Flow.
Quiet hours? Use Llama.
In general, don't be afraid of installing 3rd party apps, because the features in CM are "3rd party" too. If an app is extra installed or in the framework doesn't make a difference - they need RAM and CPU power also, moreover some "features" are extra apps also (DSP settings).
Let's focus on small things which aren't easily possible to install:
- back button kill app -> I'm working on that, need help eventually, someone interested?
- Lockscreen shortcuts/weather -> Maybe we can implement the 4.2 lockscreen?
- slide2wake -> Omar/arman68? Kernel masters?
- Power menu -> this should be easy, will take a look
- Display brightness -> arman68, can you do that?

Hihihihi, it isn't framework-related. This is just a trigger based behavior placed in the sysfs.
Just take a look to this app: Moto LED for Moto X & E [Root] (it works with our devices too).
