After getting a bit angry about Motorola's decision to not to enable and allow people to access the multiuser mode, I've decided to customize the framework and touch some more things. Don't hesitate to suggest any other modifications that you'd like me to do.
WARNING: This is ONLY for stock ROM.
Features:
- Decreased the minimum brightness from 5 to 1.
- Decreased the dimming brightness from 10 to 5.
- Enabled multiuser support.
- Set multiuser limit from 1 to 4.
- Allowed all rotations.
- Disabled the annoying "turn on screen if unplugged from charger".
How to install?
- Download from attached files.
- Transfer to device.
- Flash in recovery.
Download from attached files.

Hihihihi, it isn't framework-related. This is just a trigger based behavior placed in the sysfs.
Just take a look to this app: Moto LED for Moto X & E [Root] (it works with our devices too).
oho..ok i know theres an app but i was wondering why they have built a led light and has not given any options or made it work.. ok..
Any chance for moto actions? This is by far the biggest drawback I've found on this device

Just tell me what is it lacking or what should I add .

Quick question,
Are these features already available on stock Lineage OS for G4 Play (which squid is developing)?
If no, it would be very great if Lineage OS has these features. Maybe OP can contribute(patch?) to Lineage OS?

Ok you can change the flash rate from 2-9seconds, no colour changes take place. As the Stock ROM Notification system does not issue any period/rate changes this should work without problems.
It will also reload your setting on phone reboot.

I have CM 5.0.2 stable.
I installed the app, gave the SU permissions and played with rates and nothing changed in the way the trackball blinked.
Working fine here on CM-5.0.2. A reboot might help

Yes, there is an option in TCN to not change flash rate, therefore allowing TFR to control.

BLN is currently implemented in cyanogenmod / vurrutrom as a modification of the ROM (opensource liblights), not the kernel. Therefore it will work on every kernel.
You need the lights.latona.so file from cyanogenmod and must rename it to lights.omap3.so.
The correct, renamed file is attached for your convenience.
Make a backup of /system/lib/hw/lights.omap3.so and replace it with the attached file.
After that, change the permissions to match all other files in the folder and reboot.
Changing permissions on a terminal:
cd /system/lib/hw
chmod 644 lights.omap3.so
reboot bootloader
Click to collapse
if you want to use a root explorer, permissions for the file are rw-r--r--
Note that most Google apps and Facebook do support led notifications but touchwiz apps don't...
Further, if you are using any touchwiz apps, then you will need Light Flow from the market, to have notifications of those apps. Adjust Light Flow settings to your liking, but do not enable omap_bl control.
About Lightflow config:
On General settings > enable button backlight control
On notifications > enable button backlight LED and leave brightness at 255
Use led flash-rate very slow or always on (works best for me)
Works perfect with whatsapp on KPQ, thanks!
Thanks !!!
Tried it when you posted @bck kernel thread.
Good you opened a new thread.
Thanks. Working great.

i tried it. no doubt, it works, but just for my opinion, after setting the config provided in the first post, the bln is not that real time, sometimes it just doesn't let you be notified. the bln is not consistent in other words. but this is great work. maybe there are some files that need to be configure, and work with lights.omap to make this mod consistent and reliable when it comes to notifying the user.
I am still saying that it will be great if we able to make bln mod in kernel itself. There are lots of apps which are available in market but it requires bln kernel mod. If we able to make it then easily we can change the blinking rate of bln like galaxy S users have done since age ago.

here's where i read the thread of bln control saying that blinking backlight (for notifications) can consume battery than static backlight (just for lighting the button when pressing backlight buttons).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823922
but i really hope we can have this in every kernel and also making it as like it doesn't consume battery life at all, and also real time and consistent notifications.

Like how we have ported bln feature can we take a file from cm 7.2 which is responsuble for ICS rotation so that we can have ICS rotation animation in out stock GB formwares also???

It needs a lot of framework changes: look here for that reason every firmware version must be modded individually or a lot of problems will arise...
For now i'm looking forward to port full bln (kernel mod + this liblights) but i have little time because of college... you may try to decompile framework-res and make the changes yourself... everyone starts somewhere
Now that Google has put out the color mode changes, we need a quick settings toggle for it.
A saturation scale would be great too.
I'd like to be able to set something up like boosted but slightly warmer.

Use a custom kernel (i.e. Snokes) that allows for this control. Then you can use a kernel management app to fine tune the display. I use EX Kernel Manager
Shouldn't need a custom ROM for something so simple.

^ This, plus it takes less than 5 minutes. Flash Kernel, Magisk root, install app, change settings. If you absolutely desire such a feature baked into the stock ROM then I recommend purchasing a Samsung device, or some other OEM device that has said feature. Complaining about it here and shooting down methods to achieve exactly what you want will not make Google provide this feature to the Pixel devices.

I am sorry but why would you need to do that on Phoenix ROM when the ROM itself includes Always on by default ?
Does it work on Nougat 7.1.1(Oxygen 4.7.6]also or not?
I’m really missing the much better quality and customizable AOD on Samsung device.
Current implementation with ambient display from OnePlus is totally crap.
No proximity sensor any more no interaction with notifications on screen.
Very very poor version from OnePlus.

I use Glance Plus wit the optional paid Always On feature. Works great. Only thing is it doesn't honor the Quiet times I set, used to work in 4.7.6, but does honor the Silent switch, but unless something triggers it to awake/sleep again, it won't go to sleep still automatically at night when I don't want it to work.
Also have tried Always On from the play store, it works good as well. Just not a fan of the sizing/font options on the free version, but it works well also.
Be nice if OnePlus can replicate the Samsung version...that thing is nice.

Unfortunately those app consume more battery than stock implementation from OEM.
I’ve tried in the recent past and battery drain was 3-4% per hour.
Considering that AOD at Samsung only loose 1% per hour that’s a significant increase in battery drain with third party app.

Samsung's version also does some hardware tricks like dropping the refresh rate and pixel clock and number of colors. The display hardware literally has a special mode to reduce power use that isn't supported by most hardware, or.if it is, it's not implemented by Android

Its pretty much what 'recent changes' on app description says. Volume/Brightness/animation scale toggles are improved. Also added ground work for upcoming features.
I started the app, I activated all the options and it was not requested root access, is this correct?
and the animation scale was set to 0.25 however in the developer options everything is 0.5x, is this correct?

Yeah that's correct, root is pretty much useless if you have provided the required permissions. Originally I wanted to not show the dialog box on first app start hence added root, but changed it later to avoid confusion.
Yeah developer settings says that for values less than 0.5, but the actual values are what you set from the app, you can verify this just by looking at the animation background while setting the values in app.
