hi
fixing permissions can be done by any of the recoveries (clock work mod and team win recovery).
reboot into any recovery and under advanced section there is a permission tab. click on that and reboot the android os and it's it.

[Q] Another Strange issue - No Voice in Incoming calls

Issue : When I attend an incoming call, I'm not able to hear the other party's voice. I can hear only my own voice back, but they say they can hear me just fine.
Contrast : No such issue when I make an outgoing call. All voices are just very fine.
When it started : Went back to stock 2.3.5 Indian ROM and restored from the Titanium backup taken while on Titanium S V2.1. But this is just the lst thing i remember doing before the issue.
Troubleshoots tried:
Software: Factory reset, on stock 2.3.5, and Titanium Rom with nothing installed other than the pure base OS.
Hardware : tried cleaning the mic opening (ya i know, but just a try), clicked the volume rocker a few times during the call.
Both did not help.
Google: There were 3-4 exactly similar issues on other models, but no one could find a fix, nor an update on how it went.
I dont think this is a hardware issue as the voice is fine when I make the call.
Guys... help me out....
Now that's weird. Don't worry we'll try to solve it.
Further you can troubleshoot by:
1. To rule our any possibility of the Receiving speaker being faulty, open your dialer and input this code (*#0*#). Now select 'Receiver(White)' from it. You should hear continuous sound from your Receiving Speaker, if not then its not working.
2. Trying to make a call using a landline phone so as remove the possibility of caller having any network issues and use a SIM from a different network provider on your handset to ascertain if its a network problem.
3. Is there a small popup with a heading something like 'In call volume' when using the volume rocker while receiving an incoming call ?
4. And does it at least show increase or decrease in the bar on the popup of 'In Call volume' graphically when you press corresponding volume rocker keys ?
Do post here what were the outcomes and also if you find what was wrong.
Thanks for your suggestions, Eagle..
1. To rule our any possibility of the Receiving speaker being faulty, open your dialer and input this code (*#0*#). Now select 'Receiver(White)' from it. You should hear continuous sound from your Receiving Speaker, if not then its not working.
Ans: Sound recieving perfectly. (too loud actually ;-) )
2. Trying to make a call using a landline phone so as remove the possibility of caller having any network issues and use a SIM from a different network provider on your handset to ascertain if its a network problem.
Ans: Tried from almost a dozen networ/phone cominations. No joy.
3. Is there a small popup with a heading something like 'In call volume' when using the volume rocker while receiving an incoming call ?
Ans : Yes, the usual volume level bar appears.
4. And does it at least show increase or decrease in the bar on the popup of 'In Call volume' graphically when you press corresponding volume rocker keys ?
Ans : Yes, the volume works fine. I can hear my own voice back very clearly, both in the headset and loud speaker .
Nothing works so far.. any other software related issue sthat u can think of..?
So one thing for sure your receiving speaker works fine and so is your volume rocker.
Usually most of the software related issues should be resolved when you clear cache, clear dalvik cache, factory reset, flash stock ROM and kernel on your handset.
I think you have already done all of these, right ?
I think some thing is wrong with your radio i.e. motherboard, you might have to go to the service center.
The problem may also be due to use of faulty Jack headphone, that galaxy R has.
Do check for that...!!

I was in office all this while and all i tried was restoring my CWM backups of all the ROMs I had and then making factory reset, clear cache of it.
Just reached home and flashed the stock 2.3.6 XWLA4 via Odin and made a factory reset, clear cache with nothing on it.. and guess what ?!
IT WORKED...
so far tried from a landline and a mobile, and mic works.. testing still going on..
The only only difference i could find was.. all my backups had root and now since I flashed via Odin, its unrooted and thats the only diff..
Cooleagle/anyone, do you think that could have made the difference..

OH MAN !!!!!
that was exactly the problem....
plugged in my headphone, plugged out and the NEXT CALL.... the problem recurred. as mentioned in the other thread, i plugged in and out the headphone a couple of times (without reboot) and then it started working..
I never knew the headphone jack of SGR had a regular problem like this...
I never used a hands-free for calls and only a couple of days back started listening songs from phone..
But i still wonder how after every CWM restore, followed by a reboot, did not solve the problem before..
Thanks a lot dude...

Thanks for posting that.
In his case it was not working for outgoing as well as incoming calls but in sarun's case he could use the handset for outgoing calls.
So it seems to affect selectively and not the same in every case.
Do you think I should put this in the FAQ's because it seems some handsets have this bug ?

Yea Cool_eagle.
Put in FAQ, but in exception cases or under some other heading, coz it will give wrong impression to users. As the user might take it that this problem occurs on all Galaxy R. (I am not facing this error on my handset)
Also put that Galaxy R shutdown immideatly when it tries to access the network.
Put the heading as some known problems with Galaxy R

Even i faced this problem. Whem I'm listening to music on headphones and a call comes, I remove the headphones and take the call, and sometimes I cant hear anything. Even outgoing doesnt work.
Pluggin in the headphone and removing it solves the issue most of the time. Else a reboot has worked for me everytime.
If it gets too annoying take it to service center, Even i faced the same fears as u but I finally took it (But that was cos of a different issue)
Keep us posted, Gud luck

did you go to the sound setting and tried adjusting things in there ?
if you didn't drop the phone, then, maybe you should root it again ? or recall if you install any app before it went dead ?

HTC One S (Helicopter SOLVED)

Hi there!
I just figured out that in "WCDMA Preffered" mode, in call time signal strength reach 16-17 asu makeing screen go crazy, than I simply set "WCDMA Only" and signal strength has stabilized with 12-13 asu or less in call time. The issue dissapear..
You can set it up eighter entering "Test menu" (*#*#3424#*#*) or in "Settings - Mobile Data - Network Mode - (WCDMA Only)
NOTE: The setting persist after reset so you don't need to reapply it every time.
Later edit: My test was made in a high signal area from my carrier. Now I'm testing in a lower signal strenght area (neutral zone) and my asu is 6-7 and this is great.
Enjoy your HTC One S
Soo far the issue gone. Keep this up (vote and say thx)
Hi again, after 3 days testing my theory the issue seems to completely gone. I reactivate long press home button eveything is normal.
Ohh.. just a little thing forgot to mention that doing this you lost 2 lines of signal. No more helicopter but -2 lines cover and probably this ain't so helpfull those with allready low cover in some areas. BUT this seems to be the only way to get rid of this issue.
My final decision!
Edit: Please pin my topic!

I have tried that but it resets to the default setting when you restart the phone.
EDIT: Seems to stay at that setting now. Will see how it goes.

This issue manifest most often durring calls when gsm signal interact with capacitive sensor. So you can test it very simple by makeing a call even to your free carrier number, put on speaker and tri to browse the web durring call or just play with the menu.. open / close apps..
Up topic
Its 9 days for me since the issue gives no signs comming back.
UP topic , Please pin my topic!
Thx

The problem is only repressed... when you are in an area without WCDMA/UMTS your phone is dead...
Indeed... I sayd before..on 31 jan but at last is an improvement when no one comes with any solutions, I did..
Since I've updated to official update 3.19.401.102 the problem seems to of gone.
I have switched back to gsm/wcdma auto with no problems so far.

My One S is not rooted yet and as every one knows HTC didn't update nothing for us. Before knowing about this issue i though my phone have some problems and i need to go to a service or something.. after i heard about the issue.. i was thinking.. mabe HTC will develop some update, but now that i realize that HTC will never do such a thing i was looking for something to stop the issue without doing any sofware changes.
Please keep me up to date about your ROM and if the issue is not comming back, i'll think about a software change..
As a fact you can give us some fresh links with your ROM

Helicopter still happens with the update but not as much.
Hi every one!
I did managed to Unlock / Root / S-OFF my HTC One S, i had some issues with the CWM untill i got a good recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-villec2.img but i still not receive any update from HTC..
Finally the issue is continue to manifest so.. the only thing we can do at this moment is switching to "WCDMA Only" as i sayd before.
This is a hardware issue that i read about .. there are 2 HTC One S models (probably motherboard series) and one of them has this issue.. so do what i did and stop searching for answers, this is the only way without risking of bricking your device or void your warranty searching for a better solution.
Enjoy it as it is or.. buy a new one if you can't live with it the setting !
Could a software update not solve the problem? I thought htc knew about the issue.
If you look at this link it seems htc know about the issue

I know that.. you'r not the only one going to htc .. they give us the same answer. My solution is the only and best one, we tot nothing to do ..

Moto G calling issue.

I have been facing a weird issue while answering or making a call. Most often when i answer a call there is the dead silence. Neither other side hear me nor i hear any thing from them. This occur when i make call as well. But when i switch off my mobile and turned it on after 30-40 sec then if i make the call or answer the call then we can talk to each other. And after few hours the above problem shows up again.
Does any one face this issue?
Do you have any solution for this problem?
Please help.
Wow! I thought I'm the only one! And I was blaming my network!
Really irritating issue, this

No you are not chases alone with this error.
This error has also been addressed already more often in this forum.
But no developer or better trained Android user takes this really seriously.
Why ??? No Idea !!
Maybee only 200 or 300 Moto G user Worldwide with this Failure is no biggi.
User Flash Failure or something
This is Development
Sorry Xda for my Google Translated Englisch but it sucks , that every Thread , over this failure got not answered or something.
Someone here must still have an idea to fix this error, or not ???
You need logctas or something to investigate this failure ??
Say what you need , and i will send it to you.
Greetz
I am going to factory restore my system and see if that work. If not i would switch the os to cm or update my rom to 4.4.3 and even if that won't help then i would be waving bye to my moto g . Its really annoying and it made the phone unusable .
Factory Rom flash over Fastboot , would not fix this f...... failure for me.

Yeap same failure on latest CM 11 Nightly , failure still exists (clean flash)
My microphone still dubbed on calls. No one can here me clearly
Maybee e driver failure???
Possible on Android ???
I will try to fix the bug today if possible else i will sell my phone and switch to something better. May be nexus 5.
Possible Solution
@b1082
I read somewhere its due to phone freezing on mute state so its dead silence on the either end. Would you please perform following two possible solution if they really work for us or not?
1. While calling if there is dead silence please consider clicking volume up and down button. It might trigger our device from mute state.
2. Consider keeping the volume one click below the max as number of people has mentioned that had help them to avoid the issue.
Please let me know if these solution does help you.
P.S: I would have done it by myself but i don't have moto g at the moment.
Best of luck. :good:

same problem here x1033 dual sim model also, first time encounter after 2 month of use but for now regularly.
but i came across may some solution as i not having this problem for last 1 week.
for that u have to change a developer setting under developer option.
Developer options---select runtime--now u see 2 option use dalvik is default one, but this time u need to change to--->>USE ART option
system will ask for reboot
reboot it, will take some time to reboot please have patience .(u can see android upgading on reboot screen)
after successful reboot use it for 1 week at least then post your result here.
I never had any such issue with my Moto G, I have been on Dalvik and ART both for months and never had issue in either of the case.

Issues With OPO 64Gb Phone

Hello,
since i bought this phone the call volume is very low, when i call someone or someone calls me i can barely hear them. I set call volume in settings to maximum and that did not help. When i call someone sometimes the mic does not work properly and the person who i called say that my mic has a lot of static and buzzing noise.
Another problem that started about 2 weeks after i got the phone is that it will randomly freeze and then do a hard reboot. I have another friend with the same phone and he says he has never had his phone freeze. i could be on the internet browser or just unlocking the phone to check the time and it would freeze up and restart. I have also tried restoring back to factory settings and also made sure the phone is the newest version of cyanogen mod. This phone freezes at least one to two times a day. anything i can do to fix this or is this phone a lemon and should be RMA'd?? How long will i have to wait for a replacement?? i have heard horror stories about their customer service.

tried that and it doesn't seem to help. im going to wait until OPO's tech team says. If i have to root to get better logs through catlog then ill root it and go from there ( as long as rooting doesnt void warranty)
Hope they help you out. And to answer your question about rooting, no it does not void warranty.
Sorry I couldn't be much help.
Goodluck
I would definitely root. I had the same issue with the low volume. I adjusted the mixer path values manually. Search the forum for the volume mod. There is a flash zip version as well. The mic static is likely unrelated. I have not heard that before. Good luck!
Rooting does NOT void your warranty ( in fact good luck with that , the warranty part ... ) Unlocking the bootloader will though. As for the Oppo service, well i hope you are lucky and get an answer... If you are really not happy with it and bought it through Paypal, you would be better contesting the charges.
