Boeffla-Kernel 3.1 (26-08-2015) Slow Charge - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
I recently switched over from CM12.1 (SultanXDA) to Oxygen OS because I was getting major echoing. Now that I'm on Oxygen OS, the echoing is gone, but the charging is very slow. On a 1A charger, I was getting around 50mA at 10% battery and 500mA on a 2A charger. This is on stock Oxygen OS with superSu, xposed, and the Boeffla kernel. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I was thinking that maybe the ROM requires the stock charger to charge at reasonable speeds, but it seems to charge more quickly on my 2A charger than my 1A charger. I'm thinking this could have to do with the ROM demanding a certain voltage stability and lowering the charge rate until it gets that stability, but that's just a guess. Heowp would be nice :3.

same issue
same issue here:crying:, rocking sultanXDA's CM12.1. having less than 500Ma with official adapter and cable. Tested with Note2's charger, charge at less than 400Ma, Any1 can help on this ?
thanks

[Q] charger question

Hello,
I have a micro usb charger that cam with my hp touchpad. looking at the label it seems like it supplies a 2A current as opposed to the 1A our phone takes. Can i use it on the G2x resulting in faster charging or will i damage the battery?
thanks,
Ismail

You can use it as long as it supplies the correct the voltage. I use a 2amp charger with my G2X and I love how fast my phone charges. The phone will only draw as much as it can.
A faster charge results in a hotter battery. Some people think fast charging the battery is also the cause of the infamous SOD (Sleep of Death). Keep an eye (or ahnd) on your phone and make sure it is not getting too hot while on the charger.

The hotter the battery goes, the shorter the battery life span will result as li-ion battery doesn't quite like in hot temp. Never tried a 2A charger to charge my G2X, so I would not know. But I am using a 1A charger to it and it works great If 2A charges does not cause the battery to go too hot, it should be fine.
I've been using this charger since May with no issues. The battery will only draw as much as its capable of drawing. As long as the voltage is the same as the stock charger then there is no issue. You could connect it to a 5 amp charger and it would still only draw the 1.x amps its designed to draw.
Going too low on amperage is where you have to be careful.
thanks for the replies, turns out that 2A charger is 5.3V as opposed to the 4.8V LG charger...

+1 on that, LG may be dumb, but they're not dumb enough to let their phone overload with un-needed electricity.

New battery charger

Hello,
my battery charger stopped working and i need a new one. I read a few review and i'm a bit confuesd, not every chargers with the capability to deliver 1000mAh works with every device. So which one oft them works with the desire s and delivers 1000mAh and not just 500mAh?
just buy a oem wall charger ,, easily found on ebay and also cheap
does it has any difference between 1000 and 500mah chargers? now i'm using original liveview charger with 500mah on it but also have 1A iPhone charger.

Overheating
im using an old S2 charger i think, its got an output of 5V, 0.7 amps and after flashing a costom rom, jellyfirebean im getting serious overheating issues, but only while charging with the phone on.
however i cant confirm this is the chargers problem yet
just a note, its the phone that heats up not the charger

no the phone never heats up using original wall charger

Double that. Overheating can be only caused by the phone itself, or a defected battery (means it is near death, but for serius heating, you will notice like 1hrs of battery life for the phone).
On another note for the topic. I use 3 type of chargers for my phones:
At home my ASUS tab's one (which is rated 5V 1A at the standard USB, plus the extra for the dock, but it is ASUS specific), at work an old ZTE "dumbphone" charger (which is rated 5V 0.75A, and is a high frequency switching type, so really energy-efficient) and for any other my old SE X8's one, which is 5V 650mA (which is also switching type). Also dedicated charger cables, 1 nokia, 1 SE, 1 HTC and 1 ZTE at my car.
The phone's original 5V 1A is NRFB at the box of the phone, but I have a security backup Samsung charger (rated 5V 500mA and pass-trough type, so not really efficient, but stable) which works just fine. The S is not capable (or not enabled just yet) of fast charge mode AFAIK so no really chance for 500mA or more when charging (even when GPS and 3G on, and screen on max, which is aroung 430mA when I last measued it with a service cable).
reporting back
yeah i can confirm it was the 2 year old htc battery
i am now using 2 anker 1600mah batterys and they last a LOT longer + come with an enternal charger so i always have one charged, it also charges the old htc battery too externally so i can now use 3 battieries mwahahahaa
note i did have to delete battery stats in cwm to recalibrate

100% fast charge

Ok to start of i bought a car charger that has 2.4amp and a blue socket. I thought it may fast charge but nope regular charge, then i learn qualicom 2.0 is fast charge and i dont understand why fast charger doesnt equal 2.4amp. Then i realized to fast charge eith the mathews app you needed the supported kernal, now that the pshycial charger supports fast charge, kernal supports fast charger, is it 100% fast charge? Kernal, wire, socket. Also...is there a kernal tweak like from synapse to charge faster? And last question) i saw qulaicom 3.0 is out...does note work with it or is limited to 2.0?
Sorry but you just went in 3 different directions you lost me with all your questions a d talking
Yea, basically it all started when i was on the note 3 and i noticed this fast charge app said you needed a kernal that supported it. Then the fast charge feature came out by Samsung software itself, and the adaptive fast outlet it self. So fast charing was introduced by kernal, software, and now hardware. I know kernals can increase performance by increase voltage or decreasing, is there any kernal function like that, that can affect fast charging to be even faster? Then i said a 2.4amp does not fast charge note 5 because qualicom 2.0 is needed, so i adked why isnt a 2.4amp charger not doing the same thint as qualicom. And then i said....on amazon they got a qualicom 3.0 outlet, since note 5 fast chargers on 2.0...will it work on 3.0 speeds? Faster?

I use this one. It's cheap, but it works great. http://amzn.com/B00Y0BPF3C
No, it will not charge faster, although, it will charge at QC 2.0 speed. Any Qualcomm Quick Charge compatible charger should do. If you don't see the logo on the charger you are buying, chances are you will get a fast charge, but not near as fast as the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0. Look for this logo:
***The kernel has nothing to do with fast charge, it's worked for me with every sprint kernel out for this phone***
Synapse does not affect the rate of charge for our phone. Regardless of what the settings say the charging rate remains the same. I tested regular, fast, and wireless and they are not affected in any way.
Thanks for info, what about kernal? Why do some support fadt charge others dont. And using synapae can you control how fast or slow it charges?
This phone the n5 already supports fast charging! !! So what are you really looking to accomplish?

Shield K1 best custom rom for battery life

I'm on stock 6 0.1 or 6.1 (whatever the latest is)
And I'm looking to improve battery life. I already have wifi off. Use Ethernet adapter, and charge it via a USB hub. But it's charging very slowly.
Screen brightness at max cuz I can't go with lower lol.
So yeah I want to do everything I can.
so far the marshmellow roms I have seen are:
Kali Nethunter (k1 compatible)
Dirty Unicorn
Bliss
Resurrection Remix ROM
For the other roms I could not find if they are K1 compatible. so I would be reluctant to try them.
all roms of orig shield tablet are compatible to shield k1 , as for battery life i get around 5-6hrs of screen on time with stock and BitO kernel. I use greenify to supress useless apps and macrodroid to automate location ,wifi and battery saver settings.
Which charger are you using? i use anker qc2.0 compatible charger and my charging speeds are fairly good (around 4hrs i guess but i never observed time precisely).
I also use cm13 (multirom) as my secondary rom.

I'm using a Samsung charger lol :
Input 100-240V 0.35A
Output 5V 2.0A
But today I bought a Bandbridge BXP410EC - Rev 01-08 Size 455W-SC193 USB hub and it has it's separate charger.
The hub itself reads 5V DC 2.5 A
The adapter reads Input 100-240V 0.5 A
Output 5V 2.6A Max 13 W
BitO kernel is not same as entire custom rom?
Do you know, if there is a difference in battery time when using a different rom/kernel.
I am reluctant to do a wipe of my tablet. don't want to lose my apps and go to the hassle.
I will only do it if I know I can get advantage.
The maximum power you get on an usb hub is 0.5A. The shield tablet needs 2.0A to charge at full speed. Charging on an 2.0A charger (not hub) should take around 3 hours at maximum.

BitO kernel is not a rom , when you install bitO kernel data wipe is needed. Only cache wiping is recommended. If your data is important then take a backup in TWRP recovery first and try these. So if anything goes wrong while trying kernels/roms you can revert back to your previous state as if nothing happened.
and for charger i dont know about what you've bought but i am using this one http://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Dual-Travel-Charger-Adapter/dp/B00Q873I3K and it provides 2.4A

Question Fast Charging on and off

Hey guys, something I've noticed recently with my X3 Pro is that whenever I have it connected to a charger that uses some kind of fast charging protocol, it'll charge for five seconds, disconnect and then repeat. It happens with all sorts of chargers and cables, all of which have worked fine in the past. Using standard USB-A to Type-C connections work fine but even the USB-A fast charge port on my power hub gives it this issue.
I've been looking online for solutions, tried air blasting the charging port, there doesn't seem to be any other kind of battery irregularities like a swollen shape or an increase in battery drain, now I'm worried that it might be the Type-C port itself. I'm running the latest version of Lineage OS but it doesn't seem like the OS has anything to do with it either as the charging problem persists when charging while powered down.
What do you guys think? I'm hoping it's not a hardware issue but I want a second opinion.
I have The same Problem.
Only The original charger works with fast charging. Haaven't found The issue on The Internet before your Post. Ist there a solution? Maybe this is Kernel related?
Poco x3 NFC nowhere near fast charging
So, here's my issue. Original cable N brick, charges almost nothing. Putting the brick N cable into my old not fast charging supported phone gives 1200 mA. Unbelievable N here almost nothing. Running MIUI 12.5.4
forum.xda-developers.com
I tried 65w charger, phone didnt support fast charging, only original works well
