Hi everyone. I have owned this Acer tablet for about a month now. No complains whatsoever. Really good performer. Only major downside so far is the short battery life.
I have been trying to find a higher capacity battery for this tablet or a way to increase battery life. While typing this I have started wandering with the idea of rooting this device to see if there is any battery life improvements.
Well, in the meantime, it would be great to find a higher capacity battery somewhere around.
Thanks for any response.

So, what's everyone's thoughts on battery life? I've noticed that the various reviews are all over the map, with some saying battery life is significantly less than the Xoom's (the more relevant comparison) and some saying it's better. Some say the keyboard dock (which I know is due a firmware update for just this very reason) adds only a few hours, others that it almost doubles the life.
Haven't seen much from current UK users. So, that's the one uncertain area for me.
anandtech has the most indepth review and shows for the tablet itself, the transformer is right around the xoom for life and a bit under ipad 2. Adding in the dock extends the life by quite a lot.
check it out here.

So far I have not seen a breakdown video for the TF, so my question is do we have to send our unit back to ASUS to get our TF or Dock battery replaced when they wear out? I have not seen any stats on how long the battery is suppose to last under normal use or just raw hours either.
Anyone have some information on the battery life and how to replace it?
It may just mean they expect that by the time the battery wears out we buy another tablet

I hope not, some people use the transformer more often with higher battery intensive applications than others. So the optimal battery life might not last a whole product cycle for everyone.
Hi everyone, I've been running an unofficial Cyanogen 10.1 port for a few days now and mostly love it, but at times it does lag just a bit more than my previous rom (existz's ICS 4.0.4 rom, which is excellent). My question is, can I handle this by overclocking? I've never tried before. What's a good place to start?
I just ordered an 1800 mAh extended battery, as my battery life is pretty poor after two years now. So I figure that shouldn't be a concern.
That battery isn't really 1800mah. It's 1230 like stock and hopefully that "extended" battery lasts as many recharge cycles as your stock battery did before losing an appreciable amount of capacity.
That being said, some inspires overclock fine and we few don't at all. 1.3ghz seems to be a pretty popular number. Give it a whirl.

Could you tell me a little more about why it's only 1230? The amazon listing and packaging clearly state 1800. I understand that my battery is two years old and the life has been shortened by now, and that any new battery will likely be an improvement for now.
These are the things I always put and are recommended:
SMARTASSV2
245mhz (minimum)
1200/1305 (maximum)
SIO scheduler
Disabled zRAM
btw I'm running SlimBean 4.1.2 used to run JellyTime r30 but SB has more options and the dev for JT updated the rom to 4.2.1 (which i hate)

Because it's not possible to increase the battery capacity by that much without physically increasing the battery size. As both the batteries are same, it's possible to make a denser battery with slightly more mAh, but not so much more. Usual cheap Chinese batteries and some branded ones quote a super high mAh compared to stock to entice people into buying them, but they're always the same as stock mAh or ever so slightly more. Also the quality of the battery may not be as good as the stock battery as it is unlikely to have passed through rigorous quality checks, and so this battery might have a much shorter life and lose capacity quite faster than stock battery.
Word of advice, rather than spend money on these so-called high capacity batteries, buy one or two extra stock batteries for the same price and keep them with you always. You'll get much much more battery life out of this set.
The only third party batteries which really work are extended batteries which are much bigger than stock battery and come with their own back panel for supported phones. This is physically impossible on DHD/I4G that's why you don't see them. For phones like the Galaxy S3 which has a removable back panel, you get replacement batteries which are 2-3 times the thickness of stock battery, and so obviously have a higher capacity. These batteries come with their own back covers for specific phones to fit their bigger size.

What provider are you with (if any)?
I can appreciate a long-lasting battery better than most. In November I got jumped, beat up, and stabbed in the gut. Spent the night in the hospital, and only the huge 3300mAh battery in my Droid Razr Maxx kept me in touch with my family and friends that could help me. My current phone doesn't have a big battery, but I carry a spare.
so any of the top phone you can recommend?
Hi all,
I have my OP6 for about a year and a half now, and I'm pretty sure I've noticed a decrease in battery life.
I tried searching, but couldn't find any reliable way to determine battery health?
Would appreciate any advice

Well, I don't know about reliable I have used AccuBattery app. It logs your current and voltage during charging and discharging phases and calculates your real battery capacity. The more charge cycles, the more accurate the result.

IMO don't worry too much about it. I did it with my OPO and honeslt there was no point, I was just obsessing over the battery degradation. Just use the phone and if the battery really starts to go downhill then order a new one.

Yeah, that's a good tactic
I think the battery got worse due to a couple of factors, including capacity degradation. (According to AccuBattery it's about 85-86%)
Did you replace your battery on your own? I saw a video online and it looked a bit complicated.

Yes I did, really wasn't much of a problem. The only thing is that it might take you a few tries till you get a decent battery. I did order mine from Ali Express and they're not always the best quality.
AccuBattery is tried and true to me. I once used it to measure a new battery that was advertised as 3000mAh but written on the battery was '2800mAh'. Surely enough, after a few days of running it, it said it was 2800mAh on the dot.
IMO accubattery Is trash. He Always recognized battery capacity about 86% (2900-3000). I had the same value now and 2 Years ago so...
I installed it on mine a couple of days ago. I now know my 2 year old battery is at 77% of its initial battery. Battery life is still good though, but I might be investing on a new one from AliExpress sometime soon.
