So, what's everyone's thoughts on battery life? I've noticed that the various reviews are all over the map, with some saying battery life is significantly less than the Xoom's (the more relevant comparison) and some saying it's better. Some say the keyboard dock (which I know is due a firmware update for just this very reason) adds only a few hours, others that it almost doubles the life.
Haven't seen much from current UK users. So, that's the one uncertain area for me.
anandtech has the most indepth review and shows for the tablet itself, the transformer is right around the xoom for life and a bit under ipad 2. Adding in the dock extends the life by quite a lot.

My phone has a dinky little TI OMAP 180mhz chip and the battery life still seems short to me. The battery is a no name chinese 2000mah made in 08. Using wifi with the screen on the lowest readable backlight setting I get about 4-6 hours of usage with light browsing. High backlight, about 2 hours at most. I was just thinking though, all of these new phones have 1000-1500 mah batteries and much more powerful processors yet still retain usability. Pretty much if I do anything other than talk on the phone, I will have to charge the phone every day. Would I benefit from a name brand battery?
Also the first half of the battery life really feels like 80% of the battery life. That last half has nothing!

I'd say a BIG yes to that. To see the difference try using a new battery. Even if its within the 1500mAh limit. Your bound to see a world of difference. My phone the HTC touch has an 1100mAh which i'd definitely call small by the current standards. Yet it gives me about two days worth of usage on a single charge. The battery is about a year old. If your using a genuine HTC handset, needless to say invest in a good original battery. Very useful.
Sadly it isn't an HTC I hang out here a lot because of all of the useful software the forum goers make and all of the useful general knowledge.
It's a no name Chinese phone.
The battery is a GB/T 18287-2000 but when I look that part number up they all look different and even have the terminals in different spots (what use is a part number if it means nothing?). Guess I am stuck with these crappy no name batteries that probably don't put out their spec. It really is a huge battery though. Seems to be about the same dimensions as my screen (3.2inch). A shame it doesn't last long.

Hi everyone. I have owned this Acer tablet for about a month now. No complains whatsoever. Really good performer. Only major downside so far is the short battery life.
I have been trying to find a higher capacity battery for this tablet or a way to increase battery life. While typing this I have started wandering with the idea of rooting this device to see if there is any battery life improvements.
Well, in the meantime, it would be great to find a higher capacity battery somewhere around.

Hey all, I could not find an answer to this anywhere so I figured I would ask here. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 from Sprint (SM-N910P) and I have an extended battery, very specifically the ZeroLemon 10,000mAh battery case for the Note 4.
Now, having a 10k mAh is life at it's finest, really it is. I go 3 days with a single charge. Even under heavy use, I still get ~2 before needing a fill up. As it usually goes with beautiful things though, the personality is the problem, with a rose it's the thorns, and with this beautiful battery, Android is the beast in the shadows.
The original battery that comes with my Note 4 is a 3220 mAh battery, and the battery I am currently using is more than three times larger. My original battery would get to 15% which meant that it would maybe have another hour of low use and then would die. At 15% battery life on the big kahuna of batteries however, 15% can be as much as a full day of normal use for me.
Here is where Android rears its wonderful, ugly head. Artificially imposed feature limitations based on battery percentage. These are things such as no flash on camera, no video recording, no camera use at all, automatic dimming of screen, greyscale mode(truly a horror to behold), etc.
I have not found an answer on the world wide series of tubes which leads me to believe it is a programmed, hard-coded thing, and not a setting to be toggled. Which ultimately (insert drum roll), brings me here. Is there, in the vast wealth of knowledge that is XDADev, a way to disable, nay, ELIMINATE, this annoyance, this... petty guidance giving by Android when it was not asked for?
The answer, hopefully, preferably, etc. would be a ROM that I could slap down upon my device like the mighty Mjolnir* that makes ME the king of my phone's battery life, that gives ME the freedom to use my camera at 1% battery life if I so choose, that would, in theory give my the power of Thor**.

Still haven't found any solutions on my own. Not super code savvy, but I have been digging through the Android source to see if I could find where those limitations are set.

However, the reviews of the battery provided by HTC would lead me to believe that perhaps HTC is reselling old/used batteries from devices that may have come in for repairs. I was hoping someone could shed some light on it.
I have experience of using 3rd party batteries in other phones, namely a BlackBerry Z10, and I haven't had any issues in the past. I was just looking for some recommendations from the community. Thanks
I've been browsing old posts on here looking for solutions to this same problem (finding suitable battery replacements or even upgrades for this device).
So far the verdict is still out whether upgrading to a bigger battery will actually yield better results. Some say bigger batteries do provide better battery life, others say it's no different from the stock unit (purportedly since the phone can't utilize any more than the stock 1650mAh), and some say it's much worse (may be due to faulty/rubbish packs).
Most people say that One X and even One X+ batteries fit in the HTC One S, though some have encountered various, minor problems in doing so. 3rd-party batteries seem to be a mixed bag as well.
Curiously, One X and One X+ batteries are actually slightly cheaper than One S batteries, haven't got a clue as to why.
Most of the posts discussing this topic is from 2013/2014, so there's not a lot of data from newer builds of Android (with Project Volta) in conjunction with fresh battery packs.
I hope others can chime in on the matter as well, would very much like some suggestions as to what would be the best course of action.
Okay, just installed a new 1800mAh battery (One X (BJ83100) OEM battery on discount). I'll let you know how it fares in the near future after having done a few full cycles on it. It proved to be quite a challenge to get it installed, but hey, everything seems to be working fine, for now at least.

Well, to follow up on my previous promises;
Battery-life seems to be heavily dependent on the particular usage patterns and the specific ROM. I wouldn't say battery life's much better than with a new, stock battery, perhaps marginally better. It does take quite a while to charge though, and in most cases it won't be able to fully recharge without being shut off. Though that could also be due to the charger that I used.
I took a few screenshots of the battery section to get a rough estimate of the endurance of the battery, but due to other, unforeseen circumstances, I'm not able to retrieve them at this moment, though they did look promising!
Long story short - it'll work fairly well, but just go for the original battery, if you want it to work properly. As previously mentioned, I only went for the One X+ battery due to it being heavily discounted.

Hmm I got an iPhone 8 at work and the battery brain and loss of battery on that is amazing, it barely leaks. On my pixel it just leaks battery life so easily and quickly.
I know it depends on how you use the device and 100 other factor but anyone else get this general feeling? I read Pixel 1 has heat issues with that version of CPU.
I recently purchased a used pixel.. I did expect the battery life to be better than it appears to be... i'm not sure if its because the battery is fairly degraded from the previous owners.. or if I have a slow drain.. or maybe just an unrealistic expectation of the smaller variant... but I am curious to know if other people see really good battery life on their phone.. Thanks!
I bought a used pixel as well. I have questioned the battery life as well. Then again I purchased this phone for 150.00 and the quick charge is a blessing. I did crack my screen so I was going to perform a battery change while I did the screen to see if that would fix my issue. Here is a screenshot of my battery.
Keep in mind that Apple uses some funny algorithms to report the battery percentage and usage in a way that makes the user perceive the battery life to be better than it actually is. Like, why do you think it stays at 100% for so long? When down to 3, 2, or 1%, the battery lasts forever until it the device finally shuts down. Don't trust Apple (iOS), and take everything they report with a grain of salt.

I also bought a used Pixel and found the battery life not to match my expectations, as it is quite average like mid range phones. I ran a Geekbench 3 battery test, and got the score of 1798, which is slightly below other Pixels, but not that much. So while the Pixel XL has a top level battery life, the smaller phone lacks of battery to run the powerful hardware. Still I am quite happy with battery life while soft usage watching videos.
Here are screenshots of my battery life all made without charging the phone in between. The first screenshot is with gaming and heavier apps (around 3h15 SOT), while the second and third are almost only soft usage with mainly YouTube and Netflix at 50% brightness, where I can get around 4hrs30 SOT, which I am happy with. Hope this helps somebody.
