Moto g 2015 back cover produces clicking noise?? - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have moto g 2015 16gb variant and when I apply little or medium pressure at back then it creates clicking noise ,I want to know if anyone of you having this problem and whether this will affect the water resistant or not since back is not properly fit, please confirm it !!!

Yes, I'm having this same issue here.

Nope nothing like that on both of mine.

The back cover on mine tends to creak and flex when I press certain parts. It's my main disappointment with the device actually. None of my previous Motorola devices had this issue. It detracts from the in-hand feeling of quality. I've submerged my phone underwater several times without issue though, so I guess it doesn't hurt water ressistance?

The back of my 16GB variant flexes a little but it is not bad at all. I just got a case for it and the problem is now fixed completely! Maybe a case would help you to forget about it

Hmm mine doesn't at all.

Neither does mine.

Did u check if the cover is properly latched next to the camera panel. It happened with me initially, but then I realised that it was not properly latched on one side of the camera assembly. Once I fixed that, there have been no noises.

mine is also not making sounds.. 55 model(IND)

I have the same issue. I changed back cover, but the problem remains. 16 gb white model.

Is the Moto G a waterproof phone?

I was watching the scratch test video and saw the guy put this phone in the sink and it still works. I had no idea whether it is waterproof or not, I just bought it as it was a good phone for a good price but does anyone know if Moto G is really waterproof or not?
It isnt water proof. Nothing is water proof. The moto g is in spite of being a mainstream phone, highly water resistant however. That means, dont try it for fun, but if it takes a swim, it will most likely be fine.

No. It has an oleophobic coating whic is not waterproof.
There's a video on youtube with a test of water resistant on a moto g.
The moto went 30 seconds under water and it survived with no damage!
It's not water proof, but it can survive an 'accident'.

Well, when water goes in, less comes out, so kind of yes
Am I just THAT unlucky??
So... I accidentally dropped my five-days old Moto G on the toilet, rescued it after three seconds tops, dried it super carefully, put it on rice to absorb any possible water drop on it and still not working. The notification light (the small white one right next to the front camera) is going in and out while connected to the charger or the laptop. Any ideas on how to make it work again??
Why did it work perfectly to the people who made the waterproof Youtube video and it stayed on the water for half an hour and mine is not working!?? waterproof my @#¢... That or I'm the unluckiest person of the day!
Any suggestion will be much appreciated! Thanks

I know this post was a long time ago, and you probably already have a new phone but for anyone else who encounters this problem, your phone is probably just in sleep mode. It does that to protect the battery from any critical damage it might have taken. I forgot how to get it back to normal but no worries, just look it up in another forum or something.

[Q] Coating on Moto G wearing off?

I bought Moto G in India, not so long ago (replaced it once for signal issues, this one arrived in May). Also bought the original moto flip cover to go with it and now I am noticing some permanent smudge marks on the screen where magnet on the cover is supposed to be.
These smudge marks go away when I wipe the screen clean but as soon as i use the phone again, they are back.
Anyone else saw this to be a problem?
I've seen similar issue with 3rd party flipcover which has vaccum cup. After few weeks of use the coating is gone permanantly.

Had a long chat over motorola website. The guy said it's because of the way I use my phone. I guess making your phone sit on table through out weekdays is bad for phone's health.

What, if any, issues/manufacturing faults did you experience with your Z3?

I wanted to create this topic because I am curious and because I see many people asking if this phone isn't too fragile or has QC issues. I believe that the people with problems are the vocal minority but the best way to find out is to have a poll.
So, have you found any faults or is your device right as a little (Xperia) ray of sunshine?
You can select more than one option.
1st phone: defective camera (purple noise)
2nd phone: USB flap misalign when closed
3rd and current phone: so far so good
My first phone's screen had an area in a line from top to bottom, right of centre that had no touch sensitivity. The area was about .5 cm wide.
I couldn't touch anything on the line or drag anything across it.
I contacted Amazon.co.uk and they sent me a new one right away. They also let me hang onto the defective one until the replacement arrived without charging me.
Awesome! thanks for the replies so far! Please keep them coming!
My phone is perfect. The USB flap is a teeny tiny bit, like a fraction of a milimeter, misaligned but the seal is intact, I do not intent to take my phone into the pool anyway and thought it was pointless to go through the hassle of returning an otherwise flawless phone for something half of my friends can't see when I point it out. My carpenters eye is ridiculously accurate so meh.
The back glass scratched a few hours after removing cover. Ive only has the phone for 2 days and Bell wont take it back with damages. The phone has only ever been in my otherwise empty pocket...
Anyone else experiencef this? I thought both were gorilla glass.
I don't think the back is as scratch resistant as the front, as I too have very minor scratches on the back, using front and back tempered glass protects now.
My unit only has a slight annoyance which is the headphone jack is wobbly. It has about less than 1mm of wiggle room. I can see a gap between the metal body and the Jack. The Jack works perfectly currently.
Don't know if it's worth bringing to the Sony store, or to just seal it with some super glue or something. :/
Took some underwater pictures at the aquarium, thought it'd be cool.
Sending my phone into Sony to get a warranty replacement today.

That's what I'm assuming. I could also hear air bubbles when squeezing my device... :/
It worked fine for a while, I even rinsed it off in the sink after exposing it to the water. (It was fresh water, but there were fish in it) No more than 6 inches submerged for like 30 seconds. Was going through the pictures and the touchscreen just stopped working.

In reality, from what I have read, some are not waterproof out of the box. So sad to hear this when Sony advertised this phone as waterproof. Before submerging, did you try the water test via software (pressure sensor)?

Yes(Although I don't really think the test proves the waterproofness), I had also had it completely submerged for 10 minutes when I bought the device.

This really sucks because there is no way we can tell if it is waterproof until we really submerge it. I am going to avoid submerging mine at all cost.
Hi
I had some problems with this new phone.
1: no nfc working
2: horizontal section from 9 to 177 of the touchscreen doesnt work properly
So i get a third replacement by SFR (in France) and I think I get a fully working Z3.
I love the advertisement of Sony for ils Z3 in France : demand perfection (exigez la perfection)!
I've had 2 copper Z3's. First one, front glass shattered whilst in my front left pocket, nothing else in the same pocket. I've carried all my phones in the same manner and never had an issue. Also had the pink spot issue.
Second phone has 2 stuck pixels.
I really like the phone. They just don't like me
Got a replacement from T-Mobile, the camera button seems to be stuck.. Only works like 20% of the time. Instead of feeling like a dual stage button, it's just a single press with no tactile feel.
When in the camera app it either does nothing, or is stuck trying to focus repeatedly.
Has the same issue with the glass coming up on the back as well. Definitely feels and sounds as if adhesive it being "pulled apart" per se.
Also, the flaps seem to be a little mis-aligned.
My T-Mobile must have gotten a bad batch...
If you have a misaligned usb flap, will replacing the flap with a spare one fix it or is it an issue with the frame?
First one I got in store, noticed the power and volume up buttons were stuck and wouldn't click, the next one's speakerphone didn't work, now this one's camera button is stuck and doesn't have the two stage shutter and can't take photos in the stock app. I still prefer the phone over any other currently out.
Edit: I got mine through t-mobile.
UPDATE: The camera button has come unstuck and works fine now, though it does get a little stuck still.
Two display/screen issues :
- Screen burn-in all the time : status bar and home button more particularly. I strongly suspect a defective screen : I send my Z3 back to Sony, and they did... a software update ! I'm kind of curious about what they did exactly because my phone was completely updated. Of course, it didn't solve anything...
- Strange parasite lines surrounding text lines. Probably a software issue. I'm waiting Lollipop to see what it gonna do on my phone.
Sent mine in for a screen repair in the USA. Its a d6603 international version that is rooted and an unlocked boot loader stock. They just informed me that they cannot fix due to it not having the correct software and it not being a US phone.

Back Cover issue

hi guys .i got this phone about 3 days ago and overall im amazed . gots all i need great speakers great display and great battery . im not a camera guy so camera iis fine for me 2 . such an amazing phone.
MY only issue :as i was holding my phone with one hand i noticed with my finger a soft spot in the back cover, in the ''idol'' logo to be accurate. so i pressed it and it made a clicky noise. like a clicker or something...that means that there is a noticable gap between the plastic cover and the battery ... the whole back cover seems solid but the spot that idol logo exists there is a gap... which worries me . has anyone noticed that ... if you havnt test this and info me plz . .. i wanna know so i can decide if i have to return the device for another one or not ,,ty in advance
edit: this was going me crazy so thought if i could press down some seconds the plastic could stick back again ... so i pressed down the idol logo for about half min ,, its seems more solid now the click sounds almost gone... so assume that was a glue problem,,,so if anyone has this kind of issue try to aply a power pressure for half secs its shoulb be good (for now)
The clicking noise you hear is just most likely the adhesive sticking and then peeling back off. The tape must've just peeled off in that one spot. Mine does not seem to do what you described so it's just a minor defect. You should get it replaced if it will bother you that much or just buy a hardshell case.

Camera accent bending off?

The accent around my camera is bending off. I can actually push it back down, but it just bends back out. What should I do? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uEjTSvEMnA
You could contact Motorola since it could possibly affect waterproofing but good luck on that. Sending it back may require you going without a phone for weeks or longer if you get it back at all. Motorola's support has gone to the dogs.

Are you serious? I'd think that this would make the device no longer water resistant.
I can confirm motorola outsourced support in bangladesh is very bad. They don't know what they are doing. "HMMM....ALLOW ME TO PLACE YOU ON HOLD FOR A MOMENT...HMMM" Seems like there's no support in the states at all. I just had one with a torn speaker seal replaced. This is what support said: Ship phone first, then get replacement. Get replacement first but get charged, then when moto receives my phone i'll get a refund. I went with the first option. Received fedex code to print the shipping label at fedex, was told not to use this code, received several more codes. Then received moto code to order a new phone. Ordered. Took weeks to build ship receive. Failed clearance in transit, had to be rerouted, delayed. Endless phone calls, chats, emails. Finally received replacement. I was never without a phone, but proving the broken seal is not physical damage done by me was a pain. Good luck proving factory defects. My first and last motorola device.

Moto support are nuts! Fight it until you get a perfect unit. You paid for it. Nobody gets away with anything.
So no one else has been having this problem?

I know moto maker lets you choose a colour from when you order but I don't think accent is removable.

I actually purchased this from a local Best Buy. I'll probably get it exchanged soon.
Well, Best Buy exchanged it with no hesitation.
Hmm, I've never seen metal bend itself.
mine totally came off , is it going to be a problem for the water resistance because i tested it by dunking it in water , there was no entry of water into the phone , but is it risky , will motorola exchange it , its been almost 6 months since i took it and i also rooted the phone , what do i do?

Totally came off? That sounds like a bit more than what I was having; maybe you can show a picture? I as well dunked mine in water before realizing the accent was coming off, but just like you, everything seems fine.

It is anodized aluminum.
I just did that to my phone while taking off the SUPCASE case I've bought. The case is an extremely tight fit, which feels nice and steady when using the phone and downright scary when trying to pull it off.
So I was trying to pull it off while holding my thumb and forefinger over that accent (motorola dimple area and middle of the accent). Suddenly I heard some suspicious sound (like something unclipping) and I saw the top part of the accent (around and above the camera) is little bit sticking out.
I just watched a disassembly video and I'm 95% sure that bent or even missing accent wouldn't affect water resistance - looks like the camera and flash LEDs are sealed. Accent is just a thin strip of anodized aluminum (not plastic) glued on top. The glue contact area around the camera is so small, once adhesion is lost and the accent is a bit bent, I guess it would keep sticking out. Did anybody figure out a solution to their bent accents? Besides bring it back to store, which I'm not gonna do since the store is on another continent and I already lost my warranty by unlocking the bootloader anyway. I'm considering trying to heat the accent a bit with wife's hair dryer, pry it off, bend it back to flat and glue back together. Question is what to use as a glue. Contact cement usually doesn't want to stick to plastic (where the accent goes on)... Maybe try super-thin automotive double-sided adhestive tape? Similar to what used to glue a cheap replacement glass to your screen.
