How to Simply Remove a Stuck S-Pen The FIX !!! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

HI All ......... Special thanks to Cory Thackeray on YouTube as @howtotech ........ for posting the best response to the S Pen Gate........... Here is his video Showing how to easily remove a stck pen without disassembly
Enjoy ......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=54&v=oEUaeGYhTlk

Make sure you DON'T tear the piece of paper inside.

That is actually pretty awesome - I feel like picture paper would probably work a little better if it fits as it has the glossy side that would slide a little smoother.

photo paper is quite a lot thicker, so it could be harder to use.

I wonder if heavy duty tin foil would work

24 Lb bond or 28 Lb paper would be the thickest you would use ...... to explain Paper is rated by the weight per 500 sheets
(ream) of 17 x 22 bond sheet. Cut in half would be 2- 8 1/2 x 11 sheets. Sometimes you will see 24/60 ...the 60lb refers text size cut sheets 500 sheets of 25 x 38 offset/text will weigh 60 lbs both the same thickness ... just trivia ......... 24 lb is plenty stiff enough

He knows his stuff. I'm a copier repair technician and work at the local hospitals here for UCHealth. 24lb paper is one of our biggest issues because a lot of people think that you could just open the tray and load it into the machine and it should just work. Add this onto the fact that most machines have their plain(16-20lb) paper configuration, set to 20lb max for "Plain" paper. At 24lb, that sheet almost sounds like aluminum foil when you whip it back and forth.
A sheet of 20lb 8 1/2 x 11" paper folds a lot easier than a 24lb sheet, especially if it's being fed in LTRR orientation! I get so mad at those service calls!!!!
I approve his message!

Yeah, and then when you ask people if they jogged the paper before they loaded it they look at you like you're speaking jibberish lol
I remember the first time i ever tried to jog 40 or 60lb stock in full 17x22 to be loaded into a press and could barely get the pages to separate 10 or 20 at a time cuz it's so thick and heavy! And the 24lb was probably my favorite to work with because the Heidelberg would rip and git with that stuff! Lol 4-color process, direct-to-press- no plates the burn or anything- no manual stripping or anything anymore! Smh

The BEST replacement stylus?

Everyone in the office just got new phones, most people chose D810 - Trinity. From the rate of broken styluses so far it seems we're going to need to order some soon. What's the best? Overall quality is more important than having a ballpoint. Search didn't turn up any obvious favorites. Links to sellers very much appreciated.
(Do NOT twist your original stylus. I wish I could say they snap like twigs but your average twig is considerably stronger!)
How the .... can you break them? they are really robust.
i need a white replacement also, i would like a original one if possible.
I lost one, and i want a spare stylus just in case.
could someone give some help on this, i just seem to find black one (and besides the color i dont know if they fit well..)
thanks

Twist... as if you are trying to unscrew the top of the stylus. Not hard to do unintentionally if you are getting it out one handed.
I have these ones that have a ball point pen built in as well. They seem solid (they actually feel more solid that the original), the tip is not overly hard and it means you have a pen handy as well for the times you need on.

However I don't know if he has then in white, best to check with the seller.
When I bought them they took about 4 days to get to me in Sydney.

I thought this as well when i originally looked at this thread. But yesterday I dropped my stylus, it landed on rocks from a height of around 4 foot and broke.
www.boxwave.com
We brought around 12 unit of Dopod D810, 11 unit black color and 1 white color.
Almost all black color D810 user broke their stylus.
Local Dopod service center allowed the stylus to be exchange within the warrenty period, but I believed Dopod won't re-engineer and redesign their stylus and will give us the same 'hightech' same quality stylus as replacement.
A simple drop from anywhere 1 feet above ground will break the stylus into two ..Arh! Is so frustrating .. Goash!

Power button question

Is everyone else's power button on the ATT HOX feel like it's hard to push? Maybe not hard to push but it's such a low profile that I feel that I am having problems pushing it... Hard to explain. Just making sure there isn't something wrong with the phone that I have. Just took back a case to Best buy because the power button was soooo hard to push in it. Sometimes didn't register.
Thanks all
AJ
Not just you. I'm having a hard time getting used to it from my old Captivate. (Of course it's about 12 times better in every other category, so I'm not too upset!)
Oh I'm not upset.....I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy S2 and this phone is by far the best phone I've ever used so far but since every phone I've ever used has had a raised power button be it on the side or top, I was just worried that maybe I got a defect but I guess I didn't.
That's why I love this board. So friendly and polite. Thank you.
AJ
Hmm... Was your case the platinum holster one? That's what I'm using right now and It's kinda ridiculous how hard it is to press. It registers maybe 25% of the time I press it. I use my nail now though so it works every time almost.
Sent from my HTC One X
LOL! Yep sure was. Took it back to Best Buy and the returns lady said that this was the third one she had seen today returned! I just want a simple silicone case with good protection and camera lip thing. Is there anything like that out there for the ATT HOX?
Thanks all
AJ
Hehe, thought it might be the same one. I noticed the packaging to my case was actually opened when I bought it. Someone might have returned it Sunday morning xD.
Not really sure what other cases are available that fit correctly. I recommend not getting one on eBay. Most block the camera. There's a thread about cases and pouches in the accessories section.
Sent from my HTC One X
I just actually picked up that case today! I'm going to return it as well because I too am having a difficult time pressing it. Also, the fourth row of the speaker grill was also being covered. Pretty poor design.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I got a rocketfish gel/silicone semitransparent grey case at best buy for $25...it is light, fits snug and doesn't cover the speaker..covers the back well so that when you sit it down, the camera lens is in no danger of being scratched as the camera protrudes a little bit without case...I have same issue w power button but it's not hard to press...it's that it's so low profile that its hard to feel it...fantastic phone and battery is amazing...got 26 hrs out of first charge...got about 9 on my Vivid...but it was a 1600 mah battery where this one is 1800 or 1850, not sure though..and phone is about 1.5 ounces lighter..battery is better because it is embedded...you lose power anytime you 'plug" in a battery where the contacts are...this battery is directly on the board so there is no loss...same principle applies to hard wired appliances compared to those with plugs...coax cables with multiple splitters result in signal degradation on tvs...I think this is why HTC opted for embedded batteries as people complained about battery life...although my various iPhones in the past had poor battery life...but it is best to charge phone ONLY when battery is down to 10% or less...every time u charge, you lose approximately 30-45 seconds of total battery per charge so the less you charge the better...
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Seriously? Do you really think your great batterylife is due to it being "embedded"(which it really isnt) and not having contacts(still has a connector)? Really?
Do you really think you lose 30seconds off your battery life by charging it before it is run down?
Ponderous.
Really erroneous info guy. Not helping. Did you just decide to make things up?
Battery life is better because of improvements with hardware. It uses less juice. PERIOD.
Lithium ion is extremely tolerant of charging from any level. Should have no adverse effect if you charge at any time, full, empty or in between.

Was your 8088 hardwired to your A/C at home so it was more efficient? Programming != electrical engineering.
Yes there is a TINY bit of loss by using contacts. It's an easy check with an ohmmeter. But it really only applies to high current applications, which we are not dealing with here. And no, it's not enough to make any measurable difference. And your coax analogy is ridiculous. We aren't dealing with gain, SNR, taps, etc. Geez.
Going back on topic, I now get 95% registers with the power button. If you press on the far left of the button it works almost every time with the platinum case. I think it just needed to be broken in.

Using the PRO 12.2 on the plane and in the bus

Anybody tried to use the PRO 12.2 on the plane or on the bus? I did not have the device but I put an A4 size magazine on the small table when I took the plane. Even with the person at the front tilted the chair backward, I could still type on the imaginary NOTE PRO 12.2. Anybody tried to type or view documents/movies on a small desk in the plane? How about typing and viewing on the bus or while standing at the bus stop?
User experience appreciated. Thanks.

Used on the subway. Its a little unwieldy, but isnt bad considering how it would be to use a laptop(I would never)
I just flew from California to Florida by way it two layovers. Total air time was around 8 hours I think. (We were flying standby).
The notepro definitely felt a little more unwieldy than my old 10 in tablets, and the guy next to me with a kindle paperwhite (paperweight, amirite?) Commented on how big it was....
Comparing to my gf working on her 15" laptop though it was not a problem. I did find it was just fine resting on the tray table, but I am on the hunt for a good folding cover.
Oh, and when I started reading comixology, Mr. Paperwhite was taken back by the image...

Lol. I think it depends on how you hold it. I layed the one at bestbuy across my arm like you would cradle a baby and use the other hand to navigate the ui, spen etc. It felt waaaay better to me than any 10 inch tablet. I felt more comfortable holding and using it and less likely to drop it.

I think a larger surface area may help for stability. The device is not available in my area yet. Can't try it.
Hello, how does the real PRO 12.2 fits the small desk on the plane? Can you use it comfortably? What is the person sitting at the front is tilting the seat fully backward?

I had plenty to spare when we landed to last me until we got settled down in our hotel room, but I also napped on and off. I still use it from about 5am to 10pm each day on and off, and I rarely see it go below 60%. I think the longest I ran it without charging was 4 days of intermittent use, and it only got down to about 30. The battery seems huge on this thing.

Flip Motor Durability

I see that they have confirmed 100000 flips. 28 flips per day for 5 years. The problem is, I'm pretty sure that we're going to use more than 28 flips a day e.g. face unlock, manual flip control, Instagram stories, video calls, taking multiple front video clips (vloggers) etc. I'm a bit worried about it failing in 2 years. So would it be durable enough for the long run?
Only way to find out is waiting 2 years I guess, it's hard to judge. In case Asus messes things up and they start to break everywhere then that would not only hurt Asus's image but also overal all motor controlled camera's.
I personally think it would be fine, perhaps a iFixit rating would soften the blow if they would deem it easy to repair.
That would likely suggest it has ~10% chance of failure after 100,000 flips, and very, very few people would average more than 25 a day over 2 years.
The mech looks well designed, to me.
However if you drop your phone a lot, this probably isn't the device for you.
I'm really not worried at all.
I think the YouTuber JerryRigEverything is gonna do a test on the durability of the camera in the next few weeks, since he's already pre-ordered it.
That being said, it should last for 2-3 years when most users would be onto another phone, and it doesn't seem like it will break anytime soon.
I'm not actually worried, I'm just a bit concerned about longevity.
I already spotted a video on youtube of a guy having one where the camera would not return flat properly already, but it was in spanish so hard to understand.
I'm more worried about dust, lint, and other flotsam and jetsam getting behind, beneath, and alongside the mechanism thereby causing it to gunk up and either not open, or not close properly. I'll stick with my OnePlus 6 non-T version.

True, the OnePlus 7 pro has a rubber ring around the base of the pop up camera. The zenfone 6 doesnt have any kind of water protection. So that might be an issue.

Until we see a tear-down, I wouldn't be so sure that there isn't any protection. I've heard it's at least splash resistant which I think most models are these days. One thing is not having IP certification but you don't need that to make rudimentary rubber seals.
Of course it'll be difficult to do especially with how much of it is exposed. It's definitely easier for the 7 Pro because pretty much all of it is internal.

Stepper motor!
We all have to wait for a proper teardown of zenfone 6.
But I am sure the liquid cool metal stepper motors are quite durable.
Company claims 28 selfies everyday for 5 years.
We'll have to wait a little until we get to know how reliable is the flip camera. But it feels reliable and strong from what I've seen so far

As far durability is there but problem is dust accumulation and hinge is getting loose (not getting fully retract).
I was skeptical about the durability but so far camera is sturdy.

After almost seven months of operation, I see absolutely no difference from how it worked the first day.
I got my phone on 5July 2019 and till date it's working flawlessly. Even it once fell into road side drain and was fully sunk in water for about 8-10sec but it runs buttery smooth and thus the camera.
IMO this phone is just superb and much more better than Chinese ****s like Vivo, OP, Oppo, Xiaomi etc

Pixel 4 (or any phones) oleophobic coat (fingerprint smugde)

I know, it has been discussed, not only for the Pixel 4 XL but for many phones but I couldn't find the answer.
Bottom line is the 4 xl gets really dirty in no time, specially fingerprints and smudges so I need an alternative to screen protectors ( don't like them?)
So, I found this product, it clearly says it's not intended for home use bug I wander what you guys thinks about it.
https://www.cytonix.com/FluoroSyl-3750-p/fsm3750_60ml.htmhttps://www.cytonix.com/FluoroSyl-3750-p/fsm3750_60ml.htm
If you read the technical data sheet provided, seems like the best and proper application would be in a factory clean room.
It gives alternative application method using another chemical to completely clean the surface, but I'm sure the cost of that chemical is high per amount and not worth it in the end.
Seems easier to buy the readily available ones on Amazon or just a new cheap screen protector to me.
Their site says:
Application Methods: Dipping and spraying
Curing: Air dry 60 seconds (and bake at 50-100°C for 10 minutes with 50% relative humidity if possible)
Sounds like this is meant to be applied to glass before it's attached to a phone, not after.
Try Nano Liquid Screen Protector on Amazon for 16 dollars. It works great and fast! I'm a grounds keeper so with screws and other crap my phone gets next 2 I know it will be fine wd 40 slide right off my screen with no smudges
