Samsung Mobile Theme Editor Got Rejected - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I applied for the partnership for the samsung mobile theme editor, but I got reject for who knows what reason. I am new to making themes so I didnt have much to offer for the portfolio. Can someone lend me their portfolio or something becasue I really want to make my own theme for my Samsung S6 ?

I am experienced themer and they also reject me
Just apply request again today.

they never answer me at all..... so i do not care more to creating themes via overlay system....... old theming way is better, and atleast i'm curious how the heck you can create full dark material theme with no bugs(full framework invert)
Maybe if tool will leak......

Overlays are the future, sorry to burst your bubble.

[REQUEST] Galaxy Nexus Live Wallpaper (Galaxy4.apk)

Hey... After this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309721 and this - http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...am-sandwich-galaxy-nexus-system-app-dump.html occurred, I began meddling around with the APKs and found one that looked REALLY interesting.
Galaxy4.apk
It appears to be the Galaxy Nexus "Galaxy" Live Wallpaper!
I was wondering if anyone is working on or already has got this .apk functioning on Gingerbread?
A new Galaxy Live Wallpaper would be "astronomical"... lol.. (excuse the lame humor)
After peeking at the images in the APK it looks amazing. I was wondering if anyone could get this working on 2.3+? Or perhaps could point me in the direction to learn how to get it working on Gingerbread?
I'm aware of this ∙∙∙
"Currently the apps are Odexed, so they can't be conventionally installed or resigned. And the current iteration of Baksmali doesn't work with the deodexing process. I'm sure somebody will be able to do so or Baksmali will get an update to work with it. But it'll take some time, a lot of great things coming for Android nonetheless."

∙∙∙ but unaware of the status.
Any ideas?
kuci06 said:
A couple people already tried to port it to 2.3.x, but the thing is... it uses a new rendering method that was introduced in Honeycomb.
So you'd have to completely rewrite the whole thing to get it on 2.3
Or... try to get a jpg out of it. (maybe get a couple screenshots from a device?)
Won't move but will give you the ICS look.

Really? Could you point me in the direction of that information?
Well there is a PNG image file inside the APK that could essentially be used as a stationary wallpaper. And as a matter of fact I already did that. And it was very nice looking...
But I'm more interested in the Live Wallpaper! lol...
Bumpity bump...
Anyone?

Hey guys, thanks for the replies...
That's actually not the wallpaper I'm referring to.
This one looks like the "Galaxy" live wallpapers from the Galaxy S devices... You know, the rotating Galaxy?
I seen it on the Galaxy Nexus recently and fell in love with it even more...
The APK was bundled in with the original Galaxy Nexus system app dump. I'm still very very interested in this!
Any ideas? I wish I still had the apk. I had downloaded it but I lost it somehow... I may have accidentally deleted it.
But like I said in my OP, I had opened up the APK and peeked inside to see what the app was. I noticed images of a galaxy and a couple other galactic related images. After seeing it in action I'm absolutely blown away. ME LIKEY! ME WANT!

custom clock

I want to buy this custom clock facecom.sonyericsson.extras.liveware.extension.clockisw2
but while i am reading on the forum I understood that a custom face doesn't work so i wan't it clear before a buy:
could this app replace my clock face ?
This app will basically run on top of your current clock face. It does not replace it. As a result your battery will run down a bit faster . like 1 day use per charge fast.
Sent from my C6806_GPe using Tapatalk
The main problem with any watchface app right now is that its an app that runs on your watch not a replacement stock watchface. Before you buy an app just remember that anyone and their dog can make an app and put it on the play store. There are some great developers out there that have my support, however I'm not going to pay hard earned money to be a beta tester just because some guy claims he's a developer. There's a reason why big companies spend so much on research and development before they post an app.
and notifications won't show full screen, only in the pull down bar
so, while they look nicer than the default watch faces, it's not a practical solution
Thats to bad
I wan't just see the weather in 1 view but if it drain the battery more is the decision already made
It's Sony's fault really for their choice of operating system for the watch. If we as a community could reverse engineer the software maybe some custom stock watch faces wouldn't be so hard to make.

We have been hoping and waiting for a while.. the fact is, no one with knowledge about this os wants to help.. and until they do or someone figures it out we are stuck waiting on Sony.
What I don't understand is there's loads of clock faces for the SW2 but not a lot for the MN2. Imho Sony have abandoned MN2 in favour of SW2.

we will have S5 system

ya we will have the Galaxy S5 system its just matter of time, I can confirm that !
I have some documents that can improve my confirmation.
But I cant show anything to you
And I can confirm that since 4.4.2 update we have some of the system files that we can modify it to get the S5 look and feeling
There is a trick that can change your status bar to S5 status bar, its to edit the build.prop and changing the device name & model to SH-900S, what im talking about is I did this trick to S3 & S2 but didnt change anything
We will all have the S5 UI, Touchwiz, launcher, status bar, elc.. in the few next updates maybe.
You can call me a lier, But I cant promise you anything
They're plenty of threads on this already.
I personally don't like the looks of the s5 stuff, I actually preferred the the s4's 4.2.2 status bar over the one on 4.4.2...
Some of my friends didnt like the S5 status bar too, so you are not alone
I think that you're right. We will get the new look on android 4.4.3 I think
Eh well to each there own .
At least we have have the option to customize :good:.

it's possible
me do not like
in system files from update for Galaxy Black Edition
after decompiling some system applications I saw some files as S5
Icons and other image files
That was today
I saw some files while extracting of original wallpapers Black Edition
What I don' get is, why are they filling our device up with s5 files but doesn't tell or use it, it is just extra storage gone :/
atleast don't put the files in our phones system
You have a point

In theory it saves samsung space on there drives, less mess.
They can keep say the s4 and s5 src code together as the same base src and just tell it which to output via makefile.
It's better that way, for all of us, it means we'll get the same updates that s5 gets, at least eventually.
But... lol, there is a but...
I don't think they do that lol, I'm pretty sure you have dl separate code for each phone.
I don't see why they couldn't do that..., but that's a diff topic .
What they are doing is probably just copying and pasting parts of the s5 code into the s4 code, and then setting a compiler path via some sort of makefile or something.
Or actually wait a min, wasn't it just some device id string in build.prob or something most of these files rely on to check the build?
Anyways I don't think most of this is a big deal.
Most of the stuff you would just gut out eventually when you tweak anyways, the rest you replace.
Like the launcher, unfortunately (I wish it had a 6x icon dock thingy, so I wouldn't need to use nova launcher).
And s-health, which is pretty much useless as a temperature reader.
The only thing I really like on the default samsung roms is the gallery viewer lol.
The only things I don't gut are the gallery, s-planner, contacts, phone, messaging, s-memo, s-translator, optical reader(about useless but still neat and works offline), voice recorder and phone app.
And I don't actually use the memo and planner lol .
Oh and the camera app, I use that alot even though it resets the darned exposure level each time it's started.
I should probably be using camera fv-5 instead more often (oh yeah that doesn't take movies...).
I do like the launcher though, I just can't fit all my sub folders down on the bottom.
Settings menu's are alright.
The htc one has some weird setup that reminded me of what little of seen of ubuntu so far.
Definitely better then aosp though.
As for the s5 stuff, I haven't seen anything I like about it :\.
They really don't seem like major changes.
The shot gunning connection thingy majigger can be done by the shell script cmd line I think.
It's just a network bridge.
I don't really see the point though, I think wireless n is fast enough, unless wanna make a cpu cluster out of an bunch of s4/s5's lol.
But if you were todo that, I'de sure hate to visit that server room, you'de get overwhelmed by the microwaves lol.
Sure is a selling point though, I was already asked if i could do that for my cousin's tablet, so he thought it was cool...

Samsung will never do this cuz it's all about money. if they include S5 system apps and features in S4, nobody will buy S5 so they force people to buy it.
You will see man, they did it to the S3 too
The S3 now includes some of S4 Features and style they even updated it with Group Play that wasnt expected right?

Yes they included some but they won't include ever all that would be possible. For example the weather widget is the old one and that's really simple to update it.

I'd be happy with the new launcher and icon set.. Though the newer versions of the tw default apps won't hurt as well.. i like the flatter look..
Hope full because Samsung has always updated this stuff on the old galaxy's as well.. S hit the s2 ui, s2 got the s3 ui and I think s3 hit the s4 ui..
Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk
The S4 is more than capable of running the S5 rom if Samsung were to directly port it over but they won't we will probably get a few things but they obviously want to sell the S5 so will probably hold back on a few things.
Sent from my GT-I9505G using Tapatalk
I just hope they wont change their strategy this year and leave our s4 with same look ...
Why oh why? ?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk
i believe we will get the newer TW but none of the apps and widgets. Based on previous phones
And then we can add the widgets and apps from s5 to s4 with root?
With costum rom is it possible that the s4 looks exactly how the s5?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
with root yes, but if you root then you loose the warranty. I believe this is the last time i touch a Samsung device, because of the knox stuff.

I don't understand why everyone is thinking that if Samsung does not update my s4 , then I'll say, "hmmm I am a ****ed customer, let's buy the s5"!!!
NOOOOOO. I'll be an unhappy customer and I won't buy the s5, s6,s7,s8 and everything that has Samsung name on it.
On the other hand, if they keep me happy (meaning day one updates when they update their UI) , THEN I'll be a happy customer and possibly a loyal one and I'll keep buying Samsung staff.

Old Samsung S Planner on the Galaxy S7? Difficult question...

Hi to all!
I'm new to the forum, and I'm glad I have discovered this community! What I like most is Android's flexibility!
By the way, I have a question for you:
I'm fond of the old S Planner App I had on my Galaxy S4 (the one with the leather/paper colors), and I'd like to have it on my new Galaxy S7. Obviously, it isn't available for download on any store, so I tried to extract the .apk file from my old phone with the Apk Extractor found on the Play Store.
Everything went apparently well, the apk was successfully created, and I imported it on the S7 via Dropbox. Sadly, when I tried to install it, I got the "App Installation Failed" message, and I couldn't get it working.
Do you guys have any advice about this? Is there a way I can get the good ol' S Planner on my S7?
Thanks!!!
(P.s. sorry for not providing a screenshot of the app; the forum prevents me to post links to outside websites, and images too. To get an idea of the app I'm talking about, search on Google for "samsung s planner", images: it's the one with leather/paper color set).
I do remember this app. Those apps rely on Samsung's TouchWiz framework and I believe that has changed considerably since the s4. That being said, I believe the successor to that is the S Note app. Check it out here [http://www.samsungapps.com/appquer...ng.android.snote&cntyTxt=311&equipID=SM-G935V
Hope that helps somewhat. I know it's not 100%, but between that and "Memo" it should hopefully cover your bases.

Note 7 port rom

I would love to have one for the n920p... Thoughts?
I think you are not alone. Even just the ability to make a international variant rom work correctly. No diss to our main dev we are lucky to have. But you are no out of luck. I forget where i got it but i found a flashable zip about a month ago that installs note 7 grace ux touchwiz also the note 7 messaging, gallery, browser, phone and possibly a few other apks. I flashed it over MOAR 4.0 or 4.1 and i havent had a single problem since. In fact im surprised nobody has mentioned anything about installing these apps onto our phones. The one i really want working is the new air command features.

On that UI for the note 7 linked above, I don't quite understand. I've done alot of research in how to get it to work but it says "unpack and set permissions", I understand unpacking but the permission parts I don't seem to quite understand.
Saying here just in case anyone else sees that and wants to try it and not have to dig for an answer.
waiting on note 7 for sprint to get rooted
The biggest obstacle with porting the Sprint N7 software to another device like the N4 or N5 is getting the modem and software communicate as well as the bootloader. For GSM variants this isn't really an issue but with cdma it is. smali const-string's in telephony & phoneinfo system files will be different and therefore must be overhauled to work. Lots of work. not for the average Joe, trust me on this However, there is a chance that these things are already compatible between the N5 and S7. The only way to find out is to decompile these files and take a look.
So right now and from my experience with porting the new N7 UX to another cdma device, all porting process is straight forward per usual and it's a TON of work... but you WILL hit a road block at the service connectivity issue that I'm referring to. So before you get started down this challenging project be well informed that data connectivity will be your final challenge. You may think that you can simply swap out some N5 framework and apk's but you then will have to contend with the other N7 UX code that is written specifically for it's implementation. So in my opinion it's gonna take a little while for a fully working N7 port. I recommend a team effort on this kind of project or not at all.

Good question. First, I'll start off with the fact that I like to have root, chainfire wrote on xda somewhere how this will be extremely hard to achieve with the n7, second.... and I hate to beat a dead horse here, but I feel as if Samsung just didn't do what we've all come to expect from a note, used to be that when you bought one, you were buying the most powerful phone.... HANDS DOWN! However, and not to downplay the extremely excellent s7 series, I feel like I'm just getting a more refined version of the s7 edge with an s pen... No hardware changes, no more powerful, just some ux changes that will more than likely at some point make it to the s7 series, and quite possibly the n5. What do you think? Am I wrong? It's debatable. My reasoning still stands behind this, however. Thank you.
What better time for a port, since they recalled all the frigging things!!! Lmfao
Really Need a N7 Port
Hey did anyone find a Note 7 Port for Note 5 yet? any help would be appreciated. Thx
