in your dream only... LOL you are late 5 month... is not April fool day
simply not possible... too small flash memory, too small RAM memory, CPU and GPU too low...
simple example
WP7.8 firmware is about 350 MB, WP8.1 and WP10 is 2,5-3 GB.. you cant squeeze 3 GB to fit on WP7 device...

Read that what Samsung send me. There won't be a Windows 10 Update but 7.10 like 7.8. The phones will get feauters from Windows 10 but not the full Update
Sent from my GT-I9301I using XDA Free mobile app
+ The hardware is compatibel with Windows 10. It needs 512 Mbyte Ram + 4 Gbyte Storage. The most Windows Phone 7 devices have got 16 Gbyte Storage and 512 Mbyte Ram.

ok,... live in your dream... did you ever try benchmark WP7 and WP8 device? WP7 devices have many problems and i give you only few problems. processor is major problem because dual core processor is needed for WP8 and 10... Lumia 900 wich powerful WP7 device is simply tooo low to run WP8 and WP10...
you want bet?
MS said there will be an Update.
If you sure why not accept bet?
Seems like microsoft is making fool to anyone
There is 0.00% chance bro to get wp10 to wp7
Did you know about hardware compactible only ram and memory is not everything
Win10 has better graphis sound improved intergration
No way. You believe Microsoft?

probably there is other thread about this but I don't find it...why on my nexus S I have usually only 80/100mb of free ram whilethe phone has 512mb?
edit: probably I post on the wrong section (excuse me, if you need move the thread)
thank you

Because the system only can use 340 aprox

Because you let a lot of apps to run in the background. Anyway, relax. Android is smarter than you think. If memory reaches 0 it does its thing to free some more

First of all, ns has 512 mb memory, and there is aprox. 160 doesn't displaies in system but system uses , so actually it's 160 plus 66, totally 226 mb free
Second, android has very different memory management besides Microsoft windows
For android, it's less free memory available, phone runs faster (ordinary, not all cases ) because you apps have been pre-loaded into momery instead of load it from disk (like background ) when some app requires more memory system will kill older or no used application to free memory

I always have 155-165mb free on stock ics / stock kernel, with 122 apps installed.

Maybe in settings, if you use a real monitoring app (like quick system info) you'll see much less.
hd2 with ICS , however thank for the info!
Windows does the same. Like android, it will show how much is actively used up-front, and say that ram that is cached for later use is 'free'. Generally, you'll be using over 90% of ram, as free ram is wasted ram. However, what android tells you is free is just the first part of ram which will be cleared and replaced with the task at hand.

windows ? only lateres version have that function , look back at win98 , win ME, win 2000 , win XP ... you will know ...
win 7 is good , i didn't use win Vista , directly jump from XP to 7 ...
---------- Post added at 01:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:49 AM ----------
my first computer was Celeron 433 MHz + 32 MB RAM with windows 98se ... and first laptop is 1.5 GHz + 256 MB RAM with win XP, i have to reboot it every few hours in order to get more memory , and it finally got better when i pulg-in an additional 512 MB RAM ...
and now , i5 M480 2.67 GHz with 8 GB RAM ... never worry about memory anymore
I'm fairly certain this has been happening for many generations of windows so far, it is just not obvious to the user as much as Linux. Check out task managers performance tab.
All true about linux mem-management being a bit different than windows'. Just one more thing:
Spec sheet says the nexus s has 512 mb of ram. What it doesn't say is that 128 mb are always reserved for the gpu, leaving 384 available to the system.
GPU needs that kinda much mem ? well, kinda doubt it
what i heard is that some part of these 512 MB is special format of Samsung its own , so system doesn't recognize it
You doubt a huge chunk of ram being reserved for gpu (ever heard of "shared memory"?!), but at the same time it makes perfect sense for you that Samsung uses some special mem-format only their phones can access...
Makes me rather doubt you instead. ^^
Caliban2 speaks the truth. 128mb of the 512mb is being used for the GPU cache.
Other forums are being very unhelpful.
I'm going to upgrade a PC that was handed down to me, but the upgrade.specs baffled me. Been working with comps for a long while, but this just makes no sense. I would like to upgrade to at least 8gb ram.
Memory upgrade information
Dual channel memory architecture
Two DDR3 DIMM (240-pin) sockets
Supported DIMM types:
PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066)
PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333)
Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
Supports 2GB DDR2 DIMMs
Supports up to 4 GB* on 32 bit PCs
*32-bit operating systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.

This is a question on the Computer CPU with the new Windows 8 and Android.
I am considering upgrading my tower to a new CPU and wondering if the Windows 8 and Android have any problems? I don't know a h**l of a lot about the OS and running Windows 7 now. I have read several articles that preinstalled Windows 8 can't be downgraded as there is a built in glitch on the OS and the motherboard that prevents the downgrade and will kill the CPU. I am maybe considering building a system and installing Windows 7 but I don't know a lot about competely building a computer unit. I have installed various components and had luck with that. I can find only one factory built that meets what I want in a CPU but like most its preinstalled with windows 8. So I was just wondering if there is any problems with flashing roms and such from a windows 8 unit before I ditch out 5 or 6 hundred for a new computer.

The only issue I have seen is USB drivers not recognizing Android Devices and problems installing the drivers.
Here is the link for the way to resolve the issue http://kwangzspace.wordpress.com/20...alling-android-usb-driver-in-windows-8-64bit/
Hope this helps.

Ok, thanks, I haven't taken the step yet to upgrade but been debating the issue. My computer is slow and getting slower with all the software and such today. Being computer illiterate , I don't really know if to try to keep win 7 or go with win 8. However which way I am considering a 1T HD and about 16 gig ram with an i5 or i7 chip. I am hopeing when done it will fly and pass a F-18. With my present set up it takes about 45 seconds to copy a zip to the phone. AT 65 now and retired I feel the need for speed.

Hallo to all!
In the past days there a ton of rumors that says Android L will support 64bit. So my question is will our NEXUS 5 support this 64bit to and what benefit can we expect from it?
Hope someone can answer my question. :silly:

I honestly think with people freaking out about when its going to launch and since I/o there have been some things thrown out of proportion or misconstrued. They said L supports 64 bit which the processor in the nexus 9 will have but as you've probably read here its not happening yet on a phone. L does support 32,bit also. Google never said its 64 or nothing its UP to 64 bit. So whatever the nexus 6 has it will support L. Otherwise what's the point of saying L will support older devices.

I've always been under the impression that you need 64-bit operating systems to break the 4 GB of RAM threshold. Meaning, 2^32 = 4,294,967,296 (4 GB being theoretical, the OS will claim more)
So a device like the Nexus 5 which has 2 GB of RAM, would see zero benefit other than possibly supporting apps that target only 64-bit architecture. Those apps likely won't even exist.
Since Android presently only supports 32 bit, Every android phone on the market now only has a 32 bit CPU.
Welcome all users of this forum.
I am kindly asking for all the help. How to unlock the bootloader in the Sony Ericsson Vivaz, with operating system Symbian s60v5?

Bacause they offer the same sime site for a bunch of mobiles, espesially in cases that the "offered" conent can't be found on teh internet but only there. E.g. update phone's to lollipop that never will get such an update, not now and not later. Its just about clicking their links to let them earn money but they'll never provide what they tell you. On the bottom are ALWAYS exact 3 feedbacks. "Working great". I landed there a couple of times while googeling things for xda
BUT feel free to do whatever yoh like I really wan't to between you and your luck ...

OK thanks for the post, me too it seemed unrealistic, because Android 5.0 Lollipop has a minimum 1 GB of RAM, a Sony Ericssson Vivaz, has 256 MB RAM 512 MB ROM.
In that case, I reiterate your request. What tool (program) or another way, maybe some code I can unlock the bootloader in the Sony Ericsson Vivaz, to install another Fimeware, with another system, such as CyanogenMod Android?

Android runs well with 512MB ram thats not the point. BUT you can't run android on it. The phone is made for a totally different OS. You won't even get android compatible hardware drivers or anything else AND the phone's hardware won't be able to run android at all.

My friend has a Nokia N8, which also originally, has on board Symbian, which has put CyanoMod Android version 2.2 or 2.3. The Nokia N8 has the same amount of RAM 256 MB and 512 MB ROM, the same amount as the Vivaz. Differs only capacity onboard memory, the N8 has 16 GB, the Vivaz is on drive C, 77 MB, and on drive D 148 MB, it is still hard. N8, processor ARM11 680 MHz double-pumped, the Vivaz is a ARM8 Cortex, clocked at 720 MHz. Vivaz sees memory card micro SDXC 64 GB, no problem. I currently have a memory card 32 GB Micro SDHC card.
I very kindly asking you for help, how to unlock bootloader in Sony Ericsson Vivaz?
Please tutorial, how it can be done, maybe it is possible to install CyanoMod Android, on the memory card, as it would have been enough space in the phone memory.

I CAN'T find anything about Nokia N8 and Cyanogenmod. You must be wrong. All in all its like that:
Community roms need a community and people who develop and maintain the roms, which regulary are people who own and use the phone themselves. No one will on request start a development (for free) that may take weeks or month if he has no benefit from it. Your phone might still be solid but its technically outdated. And there is and there will be no android for it. If you want to use android, go for a second hand phone.
