Hello guys. This is already the 3d galaxy s6 that i replace and still comes with this lines on screen.
The lines appears only in direct sun light when phone gets a brightness boost. (even when auto brightess is off, but is set up to max, display still boost the brightness in direct sunlight.). Am i the only one with this issue ?

then thats quite a disappointment.
it looks like circuitry, i wouldnt worry about it
It's the frame!
I gave my phone back for that to Samsung, and they said that this is the frame and its normal thus it won't be fixed. Quite annoying indeed. They also said that all devices suffer from that, but I call that bollocks.
I've tried multiple times to see if mine had this and couldn't see any of those lines.

All of these devices have that. This is an amoled trade off, it's seen in other amoled devices too. I have a brand new S6 and it has this too.
Update, went to the local Rogers store, they were shocked when I showed them this issue. We unboxed a brand new S6 and it had the issue, then we tried two display models, only one of the two had the issue!
Therefore, this affects the majority of devices, but not all! Now I'm pissed and want a working display.
I repeat, this does not occur to all S6s, demand your refunds folks...

That's what I thought too, until I found one without it yesterday. However, out of 5 devices, this is the only one I've seen without it. Some had it so badly you could see the line very very crisply.
Ugh... Guy at the phone store, "we can't go through every box looking for one without the issue...". So it's a bloody crap shoot at this point.

You just can't see it then but it's there. It's not the screen itself, it's the shadow caused by what's behind the screen. That's why it's only really visible on an all white screen at full brightness in direct sunlight. You are literally shining a light through the screen onto the other side.
Go shine a bright light into the screen and look for the top horizontal zig zag pattern that the circuit makes in the pic in my previous link.
There's no defect of the screen itself.
Just tested my cousins S6, it does not have this issue! So I've found two that don't and 6 that do.

I've confirmed two handsets now with no issues and 6 with. They most definitely do not all display this behavior.
This is quite simply ****ty manufacturing.
I sure wish this affected all phones, then I could live with it, but it 100000% does not affect all phones. Confirmed with the Rogers guy, we both found one phone that did not have this. He saw the issue right away too. So I know he saw what I did and we did not find it in his display model...

Maybe some don't show through as much as others. All I'm saying is this is not a screen defect, it's got nothing to do with the screen itself it's what's showing behind the screen.
All models are not going to be identical, they are all manufactured within certain tolerances. That goes for not just the screen, eg. the batteries will vary in capacites slightly, the CPU will vary in speeds slightly, the camera sensor qualities will vary etc.

Screens are meant to be one way devices, that's why they're called screens... You should not be able to see through a screen! That's the point here...
Hello everyone,
I bought recently Huawei Mate 9 Europe edition (impressive device indeed).
The only issue I noticed is that while scrolling up or down, left and right, the black letters on a white background are getting lighter and thinner. The black color becomes grey or with an yellow touch.
I tried to fix it via settings with changing the color temperature. Setting warm or cold or more red for instance changes only slightly the color tint but not the problem itself.
When I bought the device, the firmware version was MHA-L29C432B126. Yesterday I upgraded the firmware via FunkyHuawei to a version MHA-L29C43B138. Unfortunately the problem wasn't solved.
Yesterday I went to the official store/service of Huawei here in Bulgaria and checked their device, same problem appears. I sent an email to the Huawei support and customer service in Bulgaria and I am curious to know what their opinion would be.
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed the same issue which is very annoying for me.
I hope it is a software problem and not hardware.
I have uploaded an youtube short video showing the problem in my second post.
Happy New Year!
Cheers,
Svetlio

Hi, I don't consider that really a problem although I don't see that on my device. Have you played with rendering options in developer mode?
I found it very annoying. I have few other devices different brands and none of them having that problem.
I haven’t play with developer mode at all.
Is it only in White background and black text?
---------- Post added at 09:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:48 PM ----------
I have the same effect. But i only see this in XDA.
Yes, only on a white background and black letters (and red letters on a white background but less noticeable).
The effect seems most noticeable in XDA but it is appearing in numerous of websites.
I open XDA with my other brand devices and there is no such an annoying effect with them.
This is an IPS panel with slow pixel response times, and the overdrive/overshoot may be poorly set - who knows. Point is, you're seeing ghosting and it is 100% normal for an IPS panel. If you can't stand it, go buy an AMOLED phone. My phone does it too, and so did my V20. My Pixel XL is 100% clear when scrolling anything though, because it's AMOLED as I mentioned, which has like 0.1 ms response times.
Among our family's devices we have 2 with IPS panel ( tablet LG V500 and LG G3). Both don't have that effect.

I don't have this effect on my mate 9,could be they use different panels in mate 9?
I doubt, shouldn't.
Today while I was checking Facebook, my G Flex suddenly went off. Don't worry because that happened to me about 4 times a week. But this time, it was different, the phone didn't turn on again, not even connecting it to the power outlet. Apart from that, it was on its third battery purchased, as many will know, it always failed.
Now I kept thinking about the beautiful and horrible moments that this phone brought me. So many headaches from the stagnant LG system in Lollipop and with that disgusting layer of customization, added to the impossibility of unlocking the bootloader and the problem of super overheating of the Snapdragon 810 that even with retouched interactive governors could avoid it.
But at the same time great things like 24-bit audio support (It was wonderful to hear music on it.), a good rear camera with optical stabilization, the fact that this phone could be said to be "competitive" in terms of power today (obviously not taking into account overheating) and, most importantly, the CURVE SCREEN.
I'll miss this phone, probably buy a Galaxy S8, or a Moto Z2 Force, but something is sure.
I WILL NEVER BUY AGAIN AN LG IN MY LIFE.
My phone died too. It has the same symptoms. What I would like to buy is either OnePlus 5 or LG G6, but more towards the 1+.

I may be in the majority when I say this, but I miss the old designs of phones. The plastic design of the LG Flex 2 and LG G4 was perfectly fine by me. Now they make the phones out of delicate aluminum that is so slippery. The plastic phones can take more drops and hit than the aluminum ones can today.
I have mine rooted on the most recent image. How did you manage the overheating issue ? I'll admit the thing still has sentimental value to me lol.
My Flex2 died too. It was pretty good phone but what mostly I liked about it was, of course, the curve! That was so ergonomic, very comfortable to use and also to have in your pocket. That enabled 5.5" screen to manage with no hassle.
On the other hand the screen was pixelated (especially on low brightness), camera had no manual settings (except like on/off for HDR or flash, lol). SOT was barely acceptable, sometimes not even 4 ours. 2/16 GB were also very very limiting, not enough internal memory for apps, always forcing you to chose them carefully. Oh, I almost forgot - "self healing" battery cover. All it did for me was collected micro scratches from nowhere. Very unpleasant view to the careful phone owner.
What's next? Maybe G6, who knows.
For me LG share the blame with Qualcomm for this phone. The first version of the SD810 always overheated and was probably at fault for many of the hardware issues that users have suffered over the years. LG should have provided 3GB RAM on all versions to fully exploit the high end SoC. LG's software support for a flagship was also poor.
On the other hand, it was a beautiful piece of hardware. I really liked the screen and the curve felt excellent in the hand. The red back on some versions was much nicer than the grey of the H950.
So like others, I'm torn.
Second time this same problem happened to me also . I thought it was a rare occurrence; but today, my 2nd G Flex 2 died, just 5 months after my other one. Symptoms are the same as yours. Heat gunning the chips under the shields on the motherboard did nothing. Not sure if to get an LG phone next anymore...
My G Flex 2 also died and LG Support says they dont have the needed replacement parts and instead offered me to get an LG Q6 as replacement which feels like being ripped off.
Disassemble the phone and place the motherboard onto a piece of aluminum foil and bake it at 300°f for 8 minutes. Then letting it stand in the oven with the door open for a half hour. This generation of LG phones used bad solder compounds. Remelting them fixes them back to working order. Reassemble and enjoy.

What's the worst that could happen with this method? I'm nearly convinced to try this, although I still want to get the data off the EMMC chip.
My Flex 2 is still alive and well, about a year after I bought it. It heats up, slows down, is laggy, too bright in the dark and dim outside. Battery, seems to have improved over time, however, occasionally something will drain it in no time. Can't quite figure out what it is. Sometimes I get random restarts and weird behavior, but not on a daily basis. Perhaps once every week or two. Because it's too bright in the dark I use a dimming app, when dimmed you can noticably see that large areas of the screen (roughly half) have a sort of dark stain. This has been there since day 1. On MM stock.

Worst thing is that you bump it while it's still hot and ruin the board. Don't try and rush things. I'll fix it for you if you don't want to do it. I'm in the metro Detroit area though.

I'm on lollipop, and I notice the same lag as you. I think it has to do with how the Kernal and driver's use the available cores. This might have 8 of them, but they are vastly different. Some are fast, some, not so much. There are init d scripts that can help. I'm on the 3gb variant, and that helps as well. Hopefully we can find a bootloader bypass or an unlock, it would make this phone so much better. It's almost a mid ranged current phone. It's aged well. Let's hope something soon happens.

LG told me it was a hardware issue..I haven't tried...been at work lately..I will try and report my findings
I just got a V20 used, and I miss my Flex2 already. The curve was brilliant, and I feel like I'm carrying a brick around with a straight phone
LG, will you PLEASE setup a bootloader unlock for this? I don't see why they don't, considering there's no official support for this phone, and even the carries don't care at this point.

As stated though, if you don't feel right about it, I'm in the metro Detroit area. If you're close by, I could do it for you this Saturday.
When I scroll, black text appears to have a purple tinge around it. On some websites blue text completely turns to purple when scrolling.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Hi, yes, I noticed this last night
It's slightly more pronounced with the night filter on
I haven't tried with blue background, but I agree, definitely noticeable in the right scenario. Overall, it's not enough to bother me
Probably just inherent with the screen, rather than a defect? But depends on the severity of it on your device, I guess
The blue text turning purple is interesting because I've mentioned in another thread that for me white text turns slightly red when scrolling. Again this is more noticeable in night mode but it does happen all the time.
Sent from my HTC U11 plus using Tapatalk
Although I've never heard of it, or experienced it, I think it's inherent to LCD screens. I'll Google it if I get time
I can live with the text scroll colour issue, I would rather have that than the off axis blue tinge and eye-burning contrast of AMOLED
---------- Post added at 12:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:26 PM ----------
It seems to be about the response time of the LCD panel.
Not sure what the response time is for this display, but if it's not quick enough, there is motion blur, and trailing colours
That also explains why the effect is less obvious when scrolling slower
I'm not an expert, if anyone has other info, please share
I was hoping a software update would fix it but if it's about the LCD panel I guess that won't happen.
Thanks for your input.

I must say I noticed it more when I made my display warmer. Recently made my display a bit colder to match the Mate 10 Pro and now I don't see the ghosting anymore
This is my first phone in 5,5 years, and it happens to have a curve display. I'm super happy with the phone. It is fast, reliable, and responsive, although I have seen a couple of times that Chrome scroll gets frozen and I have to minimize the app and select it again to keep using it.
I find this phone a bit heavy for its weight, but this is something that is not important for me so far. However, there is a major flaw for my opinion in this phone: the curved display.
This was my feeling in day 1 and after a week use usage, I still don't see how is this display an advantage.
First of all, borders can't scroll, they don't have touch capacity. In the same borders, I move my finger up and down and it just doesn't move. I thought the main use was not to put the finger over the screen while reading. But the issue doesn't stop there: I try then to scroll touching where the curve itself is and guess what, quite often it just scrolls down as if I slided my finger down full speed, while the truth is I haven't released my finger yet. It seems borders are not very sensitive and not touch friendly. So navigation becomes so uncomfortable that I'm getting to use to put my finger just in the middle of the screen, exactly the opposite of readability and usability in my opinion. I really really hate the fact that borders are useless (to my eyes, they even hide some of the information if it is very close to the screen border, a matter of angle), and I don't understand how phone industry thought curved displays were a good idea.
To make an idea, now that I'm writing this message, the phone version of XDA shows me some emoticon in the right side of the text box editor. I see roughly a 65% of the full emoji circled shape since I'm sitting in my sofa and the phone is placed in the right arm of the sofa.
Also, side of that, while writing this message, using gboard, I had 2, 3 times where I was writing but text was not being displayed, had to minimize-maximize to see it. And another couple of times I pressed the center navigation button at the bottom instead of space bar. I'm not sure if this is users fault or design fault.
I'll be happy to know your experiences with the curved display.
I agree. The curved screen only have drawbacks.
The freze in chrome is bug with 120hz same on OnePlus 8 pro @ 120hz even my Moto G 5G plus @ 90hz does it as well it was brought up in the OnePlus 8 pro forum as well more info and sauce links can be found there

Personally have no issues with display no ghost touch etc same with OnePlus 8 pro it's a beautiful display one of if not the best displays I've used on both as technically there the same phone X2 obviously slight improvements in display storage and camera and charge speed over 1+8p oh and ceramic finish of course is beautiful , both companies owned by BBK electronic and most 1+ phones are manufactured in oppo factory's lol definitely prefer the find X2 over 1+8p even with sacrificeing OOS for colour OS
