Data Encryption - Data Corrupted - Verizon HTC One (M8)

For some reason, my M8 rebooted and now it's telling me it's data is corrupted even though I put in the right password. In recovery, it says "Cannot mount /data" when I tried to factory reset.
Stock, S-On. 5.0.1.

I am having this problem in addition to phone randomly rebooting. I have latest RUU w SF patch and Firmware .9. RUU and Restore will fix it and now discovered formatting /Data plus Restore will fix it. Can I do anything else to stop it or is the phone croaking?
Thanks

Are you using any rooted apps that could be causing it? Letting the battery die while using apps etc? Can you wipe it and run it stock for a couple days without restoring apps?

Are you using any rooted apps that could be causing it? Xposed and mods would be my best guess.
Letting the battery die while using apps etc? Nope
Can you wipe it and run it stock for a couple days without restoring apps? Yes. Was looking for a simple fix but if I must, I have to give that a try.
Think I'll start with Xposed and disabling the Mods first.
Thanks and especially for the RUU's when all else fails.

[Q] error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands?

I get the message "error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands" when I attempt to run "fix permissions" using ROM Mgr Premium. I am using a MyTouch4g Slide with the stock rom from TMobile.
The phone is rooted and superuser is installed. I ran this because my attempts to replace the ROM with an updated one, CM9 failed and I had to recover, I had done a factory wipe and the two wipe types from the bootloader screen.
I had hoped fix permissions might address whatever was wrong.
Any suggestions on the error message?
Thanks,
Charley

Sounds like starting fresh is how your going to have to go. Research how to properly wipe and flash a device and stay the hell away from ROM manager. It gives uneducated users a false sense of security thinking they are doing the right thing.
You know fix permissions is also in recovery right? Along with many other useful things.

I just tried it from CWM recovery. It completed after several minutes.
Also not sure if that has anything to do with why going to a new ROM didn't work

No going to a new ROM didn't work because the device wasn't wiped right. That's 90% of user issues the other 10% is bad code

Ok, I will try again and ensure the wipe is done correctly. What ROM do you recommend for this phone, the MyTouch 4g Slide?
I would like one that is fully functional and has better battery life and doesn't have the "bad code" you referenced. Is there such a thing?

I read the thread and I will try this today. One question though...once I complete this successfully, I will have a phone with the new rom, but none of the apps or settings I have entered for email, etc. Do I have to manually restore that, or do I apply a restore to get my configuration settings all back?
Thanks,

Oh it's self inflicted...lol..for some reason it finally went into recovery (CWM)....so I can do something...question is what.
was trying out the kernels here and it made my phone unbearably slow..
So I wiped everything....data, cache..system then tried to do a factory reset...and then this...
At this point I think I need to sideload a ROM?
Hopefully you made a backup and you can restore that. If not you need to flash a Rom. The only one compatible with or Verizon m8 is skyfall. The issue here is you wiped the system without flashing another system so now the phone has nothing to boot to.

Hopefully we get a RUU at some point...go back to stock..do a nandroid like a smart person...then tinker away from there.
UGh STILL NEED HELP!!
on the adb sideload of the skyfall ROM I get a failed to write data protocol fault <no status> message
Maybe try an adb push of the zip to the internal SD card?
whats the command for that... adb push skyfallrom.zip /sdcard/0 ?
EDIT..Back up and running....had to adb push skyfall to my internal SD with the above command... PHEW!!!!!

Corrupted userdata partition

Basically, my userdata partition keeps getting corrupted every couple of flashes. I have to factory flash to get everything working again. It just started happening recently(A few hours ago). What is going on? Thanks!
While flashing the stock images make sure you have also Erased cache partition and formatted it using stock recovery.. I was exactly in the same spot as you were few weeks ago and a cache partition format solved it completely!

I can actually confirm that it is an issue with ParanoidAndroid. It always corrupts the data partition following boot. I repeated it with continued success.

You're the only one saying such things. If there was a problem with the ROM we would have heard it from others and the team would see the same issues.
The ROM ships with stock Google kernel. The ROM doesn't do anything in itself that could corrupt your userdata

I've come to the conclusion, after 4(!) factory images, that the ROM DEFINITELY corrupts the recovery. I have a 100% success(failure?) rate when flashing PA. Clean md5, after first boot the ROM functions properly, but recovery fails to mount the userdata partition, every time. Flash a new recovery, or adb shell and attempt to repair don't work. I understand that it doesn't make sense, but it's obviously something that's happening with the ROM. After 4 factory images, the only other factors are the recovery(PhilZ, TWRP, AND CWM all fail) being borked from the start, or the ROM. It's obviously not the recovery(all 3 have clean md5s, are transferred with adb push, and function perfectly otherwise).....
Again, in the ROM I can r/w to the /data, so the partition is fine, but the ROM borks the recovery.
But there is nothing in the ROM that would cause that. Are you restoring anything from previous versions? Are you installing an app that does this?

I just called Google. RMA is inbound. It just kind of sucks, this phone was solid. No light bleed, no dead pixels, etc. Except for a loose power button.
Anyway I think it is definately a hardware issue, as my phone has been getting crazy hot lately. I know it's supposed to get hot, but this phone was scorching...Might have fried something.

[SOLVED]

I format Data inside TWRP recovery to accomplish a full wipe.
I was installing AOSB Rom. The ROM installed and hang on reboot with a dim screen.
I managed to get back into recovery after several tries and my internal storage says 0 MB when i tried to wipe dalvik cache again to retry ROM installation.
TWRP says E: unable to mount data
it says something else about internal storage I just cant remember the whole error lol.
I flashed CWM and TWRP custom recovery several times and no luck getting the partition back.
Is this phone now soft-bricked? It is stil charging the battery for me.
I had Super CID the phone to able to install AHRD 7.0 ROM. Do i need to revert the CID?
I ran into a similar problem before but I did not loose the internal SD card in the process.

But i woke up today after phone rechaged and was shocked of a screen showing Decrypt Storage and at the bottoms i says 30 attempts remain before device data is deleted. I dont know the password to decrypt so i put in many combination of letters and hit enter but it will not reset (delete ) data. The phone power interface appears to be a ViperOne M8 Rom, I can reboot to boot loader and just about anything here, seemed to be working normally.
I have no idea how the SD card is encrypted.
I'll try to revert the CID then run the RUU to see what's up lol.
edit: It will not let me write cid VZW_001
says Invalid cid

Nope, i have since given up on the phone. My best assumption is something in the partition table is broken because of the failed encryption. It gives an error when trying to mount /data when i attempt to do a factory reset.
