Encryption unsiccesful, cant restore - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Gave my kid the m8 i had and found this issue a few days after she got it. Bootloader is locked, S-ON. Tried restoring via recovery, wont mount the partitions and fails. Tried unlocking the bootloader via HTCDEV to try some fixes on here and got an error there too, Error Reason: CID Not Allowed (MID not exist in Model Rule).
Am i looking at a brick now?

Verizon blocks allowing bootloader unlock, only way is using sunshine to S-OFF and unlock bootloader ($25).

You get this fixed? Factory reset and ruu are your options and should work as long as no hardware failure has occurred.

Nope, i have since given up on the phone. My best assumption is something in the partition table is broken because of the failed encryption. It gives an error when trying to mount /data when i attempt to do a factory reset.

Well if you have no options with it I have a Java card and can s-off it to try a few things to see if I can get you back a working phone.

Not worth the effort the phones not in great shape to begin with and the focus went out in the camera making the camera unusable. Ill just start shopping for a cheap phone for her.

That doesn't work I tried that before.
Idk, that was my idea.
So it fails even when you try to wipe, that's interesting (also means my assumption was wrong).

I am having the same issue
hboot1.14.0002
radio 0.19as.32.09.11_2
I am unlocked/tampered but S-on.
I thought I made a back up of CleanRom5 when I first put it on the phone, but alas I find that I didnt.
So I am between roms with s-on. Is there a way to achieve S-off with. I can still get into bootloader, and recovery.

boot to bootloader fastboot flash a 2.3 version of twrp i use 2.3.3.0 boot to recovery mount usb transfer rom to phone flash rom be sure to fastboot flash boot.img reboot
This seems to be a bug with 2.4.x.x versions of TWRP. If you downgrade to an old version, it should be OK, from what I've read.

I installed 2.3.3.0 and the factory reset still failed..?
errors given were E:unable to mount '/sdcard'
did you factory reset from bootloader if so you have corrupted your sd card there is a fix let me find it
I did this and this is what Xsmagical and I did to fix it.
Take the stock android recovery from a ruu or stock Rom. (I used the one from 1.85 ruu but it doesn't matter.)
Fastboot flash the stock recovery to your phone and then reboot into bootloader where you originally wiped.
Factory reset from hboot and then Fastboot flash twrp again, mount sd should be available now. Mount sd, copy whatever Rom onto sd card and flash from there.
Freaked me out too man
this is not my post copy and paste
Thanks brother anyone else this may help

[Q] error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands?

I get the message "error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands" when I attempt to run "fix permissions" using ROM Mgr Premium. I am using a MyTouch4g Slide with the stock rom from TMobile.
The phone is rooted and superuser is installed. I ran this because my attempts to replace the ROM with an updated one, CM9 failed and I had to recover, I had done a factory wipe and the two wipe types from the bootloader screen.
I had hoped fix permissions might address whatever was wrong.
Any suggestions on the error message?
Thanks,
Charley

Sounds like starting fresh is how your going to have to go. Research how to properly wipe and flash a device and stay the hell away from ROM manager. It gives uneducated users a false sense of security thinking they are doing the right thing.
You know fix permissions is also in recovery right? Along with many other useful things.

I just tried it from CWM recovery. It completed after several minutes.
Also not sure if that has anything to do with why going to a new ROM didn't work

No going to a new ROM didn't work because the device wasn't wiped right. That's 90% of user issues the other 10% is bad code

Ok, I will try again and ensure the wipe is done correctly. What ROM do you recommend for this phone, the MyTouch 4g Slide?
I would like one that is fully functional and has better battery life and doesn't have the "bad code" you referenced. Is there such a thing?
Thanks,
Charley

Well, I didn't notice you mentioning that you fastboot flash boot boot.img to get your kernel up & running. That would be another biggie keeping you from running too. Follow the instructions for a proper wipe, flash your ROM from CWM & lastly fastboot flash....

I read the thread and I will try this today. One question though...once I complete this successfully, I will have a phone with the new rom, but none of the apps or settings I have entered for email, etc. Do I have to manually restore that, or do I apply a restore to get my configuration settings all back?
Thanks,
Charley

[Q] BL Unlocked,Rooted "BL Factory Resetted" Help?

Sorry for my posts !
==
So, I tried entering Recovery Mode, but accidentally pressed Factory Reset within the BL Mode, it rebooted, and now TWRP says
E: No SDCARD to mount / .
Someone please give me the recovery stock for evita , or some help suggestions here?
I thank you very much!
HTC One XL
Evita
1.14 HB
AOKP ROM
SuperCID
I also can't RUU, don't wanna risk bricking my phone with Super CID , also, PC does recognize it in Fastboot mode, so yeah.
You should be able to format the sd card in Windows.

Yeah formatting through Windows is the only way back from this. You may think, but hey, formatting it will wipe the content. Unfortunately that's already happened from factory resetting in bootloader.

For the record, I believe 2.6 twrp format can fix corrupt sd card.
I'll test to be sure.
Edit: With twrp 2.6 factory reset in bootloader didn't even seem to currupt my sd card. It just wiped it.

Ever since i plugged in my PC from that day, factory resetting in BL Mode, it would say "Device seems to be corrupt, you need to format this in windows", but yes, it did remove everything from it anyways.

Data Encryption - Data Corrupted

For some reason, my M8 rebooted and now it's telling me it's data is corrupted even though I put in the right password. In recovery, it says "Cannot mount /data" when I tried to factory reset.
Stock, S-On. 5.0.1.

Are you using any rooted apps that could be causing it? Xposed and mods would be my best guess.
Letting the battery die while using apps etc? Nope
Can you wipe it and run it stock for a couple days without restoring apps? Yes. Was looking for a simple fix but if I must, I have to give that a try.
Think I'll start with Xposed and disabling the Mods first.
Thanks and especially for the RUU's when all else fails.

The version it shipped with not relevant, you must use the same version that is currently installed.
Were you able to successfully flash? Did you do the factory reset before starting the process (boot will fail if you don't)?

If the bootloader is locked (and oem unlocking was not previously enabled), you can't start recovery, and you can't flash the identical version via fastboot... Your device is bricked and needs to be repaired/replaced by Moto. You should contact their customer service.
