Got a question about small scratches - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. ( Not sure I opened the thread in right forum)
I'm using N5 for 8 months with Spigen Slim Armor case, not using a screen protector. I've used my device so carefully but there's a scratch line on the middle of the screen.
It's almost invisible, but if you look it under the sun you can see it clearly.
I know the scratches cannot be removed but I want it to be invisible under the sun so will a screen protector help to hide the scratches?
( sorry for my English, not a native.)
Thanks guys.

Any ideas?

You can't hide scratches.

Screen Protectors

Hiya Guys,
I finally have my Nexus 4 (yay). I bought a set of dual SGP screen protectors for my phone to keep it protected, but I'm a little unhappy with the front protector. The back fits nicely to the edges as its flat, but because of the slight bezel on the front the protector doesn't fill the whole of the glass which makes it instantly noticeable.
Can anyone recommend any other protectors? Maybe post a photo or 2 if you have them so we can see what they look like when fitted? I'll grab a photo of the SGP ones when I get chance.
Hey man I think u are asking in the wrong section. You need to ask this in the accessories section.
Get Best skins ever BTW its a wet application protector...

Oh damn I didn't even see that forum! Can someone move or delete this please
Nexus 4 screen have curved edges, so the screen protector has to be cut smaller to prevent bubbling. ( dry application )
I personally don't have a problem with it, though. I prefer dry application over wet application.

[Q] Does SPIGEN Glass TR hide / cover scratches?

Hey ya ppl , first of all sorry if my english is not all good , i'm from spain.
I recently owned a S4 ( less than a month ago ) and i'm very impressed , it's better than i thought . The problem is that , though I've been very careful with it ( my gf have said in a couple of times that i love more it than her haha this can make u guess how careful i'm with it ) some small few scratches have appeared on the gorilla glass . They're not visible when screen's on but with blocked or off screen and playing with light reflects they are visible and they **** me off cuz i have been very careful with it and It piss me off everytime i see those scratches . First day I see them i started searching on google to someway to remove them , and I jumped to some topics where ppl said it was some method with toothpaste to remove them... so in my desperation I tried that and ( as I should expected ) not only the scratches wasn't gone , in fact there were more little little scratches around the other product of rubbing the toothpaste in circles on the screen. Searching the internet for the best screen protector and protector case i've arrived to the Spigen slim armor view and Spigen glass TR , which though are expensive seems to be the best or one of the best ones on the market.I know also there're some screen protectors that hide or cover the scratches on the original screen , since those scratches I have are only esthetic and doesnt affect in anyway the screen quality or performance , I would be happy If some screen protector could hide or cover them . My question then is , anybody know if that Spigen GLASS tR , which seems to be one of the best screen protectors on the market , is also good on hidding or covering pre existing scratches on the original screen (in our case the gorilla glass 3 glass) ??? thanks in advance and I hope somebody can help me cuz I wanna order some glass protector and I wanna be sure that It would solve my problem. Thanks again and sorry for the big post lol
c'moon , UP!
I have a small scratch on the left top corner of my s4. The scratch is completely gone after putting the glass sp.
Hope it helps!

My guess is that if the scratches are only visible at certain angles in the light (i.e. very light scratches, not deep ones) the glass screen protector will probably cover them up because it will change the way the light reflects ever so slightly that the scratches will not be visible. It's only a guess, but even if they don't at least the screen protector will prevent more scratches. You should have gotten a screen protector from the very beginning.

Yes mate of course that was my intention , i made an order by internet BEFORE getting the phone guessing i would recive it ( the case and protector ) 2 days or so before getting the phoen , so I will take too much care and so till then . The problem is that 3 weeks have gone and I still haven't received the fuking order , so in that time , i dont know how , small scratches have appeared...well as u say those scratches are only visible at certain angles and with light ( like sunlight ) so I hope glass TR protector will hide them . Since its only an esthetic question ( cuz the performance is the same , those scratches doesnt affect on anything the screen performance or quality) it would be a good fix if the protector hides them. Thanks for the answer
I feel you brother, the tiniest of scratches will piss me off, even if they are only visible at a certain angle in light. Luckily I didn't get any before my glass arrived. All i got to say is once you use a tempered glass screen protector you'll never want to use a regular screen protector ever again.

OP, been thinking about also buying the spigen Slim Armor View and that screen protector. Do you have them both? Do you recommend the case also? They are pretty expensive... But I broke my S3 glass (with the Samsung original protective cover plus on) and don't want it to happen to my new S4...
Where do you live and much did it take to get there?
Cheers

On the 1st post you wrote " Searching the internet for the best screen protector and protector case i've arrived to the Spigen slim armor view and Spigen glass TR"
The scratches occurred because the black version of the case you bought is glossy. In the Slim Armor View the black is matte.

Screen protector

Hey guys, I'm new on this forum and I would like to ask for help regarding a screen protector. My phone came with a pre-installed screen film protector and I replace it with a glass protector that I bought on ali, but the glass wont fit on the edges on the phone. I read the feedback from other users and they have the same problem. I want to ask if any of you has bought a glass protector for the p9 lite 2017 that actually works or even a regular screen protector it would be nice, because I can't use it with the edges not glued, it looks bad and after the first day of using it, the glass is cracked on one edge.
Thanks for your help!
There is no way to fix this because the screen is curved on the sides, and they can't make curved glass screen protectors, the only way to avoid this is to use a plastic screen protector

incipio NGP Pure Case with tempered Glass

Hi,
I've ordered last week a NGP Pure Case for my white PH1 last week. Question is : I saw on Amazon that it won't fit with tempered glasss like orzero. I don't have orzero tempered glass, I have this one : https://www.amazon.com/Essential-Sc...74582&sr=1-1&keywords=lamshaw+essential+phone that NOT covers edges.
So do you think Pure Case will be fine for me ?
Thanks for your future answers.
I think you will be fine. The case only covers a very tiny area of the screen, enough to protect it but also to lift most screen protectors. From the amazon image and the fact that I use that incipio case I am like 90% sure that screen protector wont lift

looks like you got an all area adhesive screen protector which lifts off at the curved screen edges. Since it's already slighty lifted off at the edges I think there is no problem putting the Incipio on. The Incipio case is a problem for screen protectors which only have adhesive at the very edge, specifically at the top of the screen where the camera cutout is located. It will push and lift the adhesive off and since there is no other adhesive further down, the screen protector pretty much lifts all the way up. You then have a "clicking" sound when you tap onto that area (the adhesive will temporarily stick and then pop off when you let go).
Your screen protector is not perfectly centered and you may have small issues at the top and the bottom right where it comes close to the edge. Maybe you can re-center it.

I can vouch for this one. It fits great with my Tudia TAMM case. It's a TPU just like the Skinomi and IQ but a dry install. You peel off a small horizontal strip at the top to expose the adhesive. Position it starting at the top and then bend it a little to start separating the rest of the backing and start pushing your way down the screen so the backing comes off completely at the end. It's really grippy at first but that will pass as you use your phone. Since it is a TPU it will develop marks on it over time if you're not careful so be careful installing when trying to push out bubbles or whatever. I used a credit card wrapped in microfiber cloth and pushed out the bubbles before removing the top protective film. If you have bubbles that won't easily work out they will disappear after a few hours.
Best option so far IMO. I had the Delta Shield TPU before and the TAMM case push up the corners and edges.

If you look at your picture your screen is already lifted off at the edges (read my previous post). So it is probably not a big deal
Hope you're right
But what do you mean by lifted ? My tempered should put off by itself with time ?

look carefully at the picture you took. I had this with all my curved screen phones. the lighter edge you see is where the screen protector is not attached. If you have not noticed it yet then I'm afraid I just ruined your enjoyment with it.
sorry
Mine lift the tempered glass. Unless they make one a little smaller I don't think it will work.
I think I am going to just go with the Incipio case and nothing more. The screen seems more responsive.

Should've went with the DualPro from Incipio. I just got a black one and not only is it the highest quality case I've seen for the device but it fits just fine with Orzero TGP on.
EDIT: Felt as though I should add a caveat that applied to me, likely applies to a lot of folks having issues trying to use a case and screen protector simultaneously. You really need to nail the placement of the screen protector in order to prevent case interference, when centered as perfectly as is reasonable I have not encountered any issues with lifting but it did take two attempts to hit the sweet spot. You're much more likely to encounter lifting if the screen protector is favoring one side even slightly, so those guide stickers that you tend to want to chuck actually come in very handy when trying to get the placement just right.

Screen Protector or Flip Case?

Hello Everyone! I have recently purchased a galaxy note 10 lite.. apart than the selfie camera I am liking it very much. But recently I found some micro scratch on my screen .. as in I am not using any protector but do use very carefully. Should I get a screen protector or flip case will be fine? And does flip cover gives scratches? Thanks
Hi, as a late reply: My personal view on these screen protectors: What do you all have in mind, that you think you need plastic foils, which should then be better than the Gorilla Glass our Notes have? I owned every Note, never had any protector and really love gorilla
That is also my answer to the flip cases: If you like flip, it is great. You will never have any scratches (gorilla!), and I myself like it very much to open and close my phone just by flip open/close.
The one from the 10LITE is also covering the edges, so a good covering against falling down. And that is what you should really fear: Dropping the phone on a hard surface! No screen protector helps here, just "bumpers", especially on the edges. Here I like flip cases, too: They add extra layer for protecting the screen - real layers, not 0,1mm.
