Hi all,
Like the title of this topic says I'm having problems with main camera. I can't get any clear images at all and Ihave tried with a gew diferent apps just in case. Also I've tried to reboot my phone as well as cleaning camera and focus plastics. I've noticed that focus laser is blinking a lot when the camera app is running so maybe it's malfunctioning?
Can any1 shed any light on this b4 I claim my warranty?

I've had the Blaze for a few months, and I am pretty unimpressed with the camera. It's hard to believe that it's not as clear as my former phones, which were the Mytouch 3G, Motorola Defy, and HTC Amaze.
I'm in the auto parts business and one of the most common uses of my camera is to take a picture of a vehicle registration to keep it for reference. With the Blaze camera, when I zoom in, the text is unreadable. With my older phones the text was always clear enough to read easily. I've tried the camera using the stock ROM and with CM10. I didn't notice a difference between the two.
Does anyone know if the limitations of this camera is the hardware or the software? If it's the software, can you recommend a better camera app or what camera settings have worked for you? Thanks
Me again.
The issue really seems to be that the camera will not focus, regardless of which focus mode I choose. I've tried many camera apps and, like I said, both the stock ICS and CM10.
I tried googling my problem and saw some posts of people having the same problem with the S2, but I didn't see any good answers.

I use Camera Zoom FX. Works great and has lots of options including storage location. It also has some options for auto focus. I have mine set to focus before picture is taken. My pictures come out quite nice.
I just tried Camera Zoom FX, but it still won't focus. Seems like it may be a hardware issue.

I know this will sound stupid, but is the original protective plastic piece still covering the lens? Or is there any smudges on the lens? If that isn't it then you likely have a hardware issue. You will need to flash this first and then odin back to stock (see here or just download the latest firmware from sammobile.com and odin flash it) before sending it out to have any warranty work done on it.
The plastic is definitely off and the lens seems clear. Seems to be a hardware fault.
I sent an email to Samsung detailing my issues with the focus. They wrote back and explained how to use the settings for the flash. They're both F words, so I understand their confusion. Will call them when I have some time.
Thanks for the links on how to return to stock.

Does anyone else find the Z3 front camera to be really grainy when used? I feel like my S3 took better front facing shots. While I've also noticed similar issues with the back camera producing some ordinary quality photos as well, particularly when using the auto mode. I've tinkered with the manual mode and that has resulted in some better quality snaps, but I'm feeling a little underwhelmed overall with what I'm seeing.
There's so many alternative on the play store that I'm unsure what worth checking out, and what's not? Any recommendations? As I presume there are some here who are using non-stock camera apps.
Try camera360 you might like it

I was trying to use the this barcode scanning application to scan a barcode and for some reason the main camera does not want to focus when anything is only several inches a way.
I thought it might be the app but when I tried it in the stock camera app I noticed that the camera cannot focused on anything close up.
Is anyone else not able to get focused macro shots?
Yes, it's impossible to focus on a object that is close. I don't think it's a problem but the (****ty) way this camera focus. I wonder if any fix regarding this and the slow focus can be done by ROM devs.
Nexus 6 Camera suffers blurry close ups too
https://www.reddit.com/r/nexus6/comments/31e0aw/for_those_unimpressed_with_the_nexus_6_camera/
As you can see in the above link this guy has the same exact problem with focusing on close object that my Moto Maxx has on both video and still shots.
He RMA'd his phone and the replacement works perfectly fine.
Isn't the camera on the Nexus 6 the same as on the Moto Maxx?
Can anyone else confirm if they have this problem with the Moto Maxx or not?
Thanks
SOLVED!
So I was able to solve this problem by opening up the phone and replacing the rear camera module itself.
I purchased a Droid Turbo XT1254 Camera Module on Ebay for $25.00 shipped.
Took me about 15 min to install using a Droid Turbo Teardown Youtube video as a guide.
Now I can take photos of barcodes, labels, that are clear and about 3 - 4 inches away.
Hope this helps anyone with the same problem.
I also solved this issue by replacing the camera as rbalfury suggested but I'm not happy with the performance of the camera. I blame it on the software side since it doesn't allow me to manually focus the damn thing and my lg g2 could take awesome macro shots and could see very fine details with it. This camera focuses automatically and before it finishes focusing you can see for an instant when it's adjusting that it becomes crystal clear but then blurs up the shot a bit which sucks. Need a camera software with manual focus but no luck yet.
I have a Galaxy S6 with an ISOCELL sensor and some pictures are fine like the first two, but the majority come out very bright, with a whiteish light cast, like the last four.
It was a sunny hot day and the photos were snapped at 12.00 when the sun was shinning at its best. Could that be the cause ?
Overall I feel very disappointed by the ISOCELL sensor. I had a Galaxy S6 before with a Sony sensor and the photos were great.
Any thougts ?
Mine is isocell as well, it doesn't take pics like this at all. Everything is nice.
Your problem can be :
1. Dirty/Scratched lens. Clean your lens and look closely to see if there is visible scratches or not.
2. Firmware problem. Sometimes firmwares are buggy. Flash different firmware to see if it solves it or not.
3. Hardware Defect. You should return your device under warranty and get another one.

Does anyone else think that there is something wrong with these pictures ?
Yeah I do see the white effect like thing on the photos. I don't know why it happens to you tho.My device has the ISOCELL lense aswell, but the pictures are flawless. Try reflashing the stock rom again.
Tried that. Yeah. Probably something wrong with the camera.

Replaced the phone. Everything is fine now.

I had a similar problem and cleaning the lense fixed it. (I barely could see the smudges but they seemed to have caused the overexposing)
Hey guys, Got my phone 2 days back. I received a software update the very moment I signed in and I did.
Later through the day I went on checking the cameras. I was in a medium to low lit room and I could see the front camera was blurry. So I tried taking pictures but they did turn out well. I tried gcam but the viewfinder was still the same blurred with good shots after the photo was clicked.
I went outside to check the camera and I could see the viewfinder preview was sharp as it looks on my op5. I went back to the low lit room and the viewfinder turned blurry again. Also I tried video calling and the receiver told me that my video looked like some low frame rate camera.
I received an update later which reduced the blur effect a little but it's very much noticeable.
Anybody else has this issue?
Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to be as detailed as possible.
Also I'm not sure if it's a hardware issue. If it's a hardware issue the viewfinder should've been blurred in good light too right?
Also photos when clicked in low-light come out good. The issue is with the viewfinder only.
I'm sceptical of getting a replacement if it's not a hardware issue due to the lockdown delay and all and since it's from OnePlus site I don't get the return option either like Amazon.
Please share your valuable thoughts regarding this and if anyone else's facing the same issue.
Seems like nobody has the issue. So I might rma the device.
Thanks people

I am still trying to understand if this is an hardware problem or software. I wrote on a forum and they told me "sometimes blurry, but its okay with the colours" and another "whatsapp videocalls were always pretty bad, but I faced issue with blurry camera only at night". People answered me like if this is normal for a 1000€ phone...I come from one plus 7t pro and the front camera was better. I don't know what to do, I wait some days to find more discussion about this, if this is an hardware problem I try to replace otherwise I will ask refund...
I'm pretty sure the 7T & both 8s use the same font camera sensor (Sony imx471) so the images should be similar depending on software.

Actually the photos in low light turn out good once you've captured them. They're blurry only in the viewfinder. As such video calls are also blurry since what you see on the viewfinder is what the receiver gets.
To top it all the viewfinder is sharp when it's good lighting out there. The issue is only with medium to low light
Hi, i am facing the exact same problem. I got my phone (OnePlus 8) two days back and I started having second thoughts. I really hope it's a software issue. Spent a lot on this device.
I just bought one plus 8 and I am feeling so regretful as I figured out my front camera blurry, I don't know what should i do
Should I wait for software update?

I had a pixel2xl before the one plus 8. When I compared the quality of the photos in general, I thought that the one plus 8 must be broken. we agree that the camera of the one plus 8 is simply ****...
