[q] rock dr.z smart cover activation - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone got one and can tell me how to activate it?
Purchased mine from Amazon, have scanned the barcode on back which takes me to the web and tells me its a genuine product however i have not been able to get rock app i downloaded to accept any of the combinations of numbers i have entered.
It says you need to enter the serial number but nowhere on the package does it say serial number or SN.......
Nothing else inside the box apart from the case either
Its driving me made please help.

Anyone?

You can find serial number and IMEI in Settings-About Device-Status.

I don't think it's asking for the device serial number but a serial number for the product.

Its the same

I've tried entering my device serial number and does not work. The little information I've seen on the net shows a paper slip that comes with the item that had a code on it along with a bar code for the app download .
Are you using one if these cases and can you confirm this is what you have done. Finding it very frustrating at moment

Thats the one.

Do you have a link or anything to the rock app that I should be using as I have download 2 now and the device serial number does not work with either

Can you explain clearer please. Did you get a card with your case that had a qr box and a code underneath that you entered into the app or did you just use your device serial number?
I had nothing else but the case in the box and my device serial number does not work.

Email them your concern.

Tried but no reply.
Item was purchased from amazon so should be genuine.
Where did you get yours from or do you not actually have one?

You can email Amazon instead.

I've done that and all amazon do is send your email onto the seller. They are Hong Kong based I believe and very slow to reply.
Just going to send it back as just seems pointless.

There is a blue card with a serialnumber at the bottom of the box behind the gray paper on the bottom of the box.

[Q] Serial number in Kies

Hi!
Besides the fact that Kies doesn't want to connect to my N8000, a second issue is that it doesn't accept my tab's serial number neither... Anybody successfully tried/used Tools>Firmware upgrade and initialization in Kies with the N8000? It asks for the model number and thereafter the serial, accepts it as valid format, but just asks to reenter it (please check the serial number and enter it again).
How can´t it accept a serial if it does not connect ?

Oh, there's a popup where you can register your device and check for firmware releases.
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk 2
Ahh, thanks, never saw THIS in my KIES ...................... strange ......
Hi Pb,
i have the same issue but with GT-N7100, i would like to check with you if you you could find a fix for the message "please check the serial number and enter it again"
Thanks
try to reinstall KIES or drivers in your laptop. I can see my SGN10.1. after reinstalling drivers in my laptop so try it also.
Hi
I am new to forum so apologies now if i get anything wrong. Will do better.
I have installed on my PC W7 Kies for my Galaxy Note 2, all working fine, have been able to transfer any file I wanted to. Have today tried to install my Galaxy Note 10.1 to transfer files and am getting the following message pop up, "This device is not supported by Kies".
I have checked both the PC and the Tablet for updates but both are saying that they are up to date.I have un-ticked the WiFi only box in software update thinking this may have something to do with it.
And have uninstalled then re-installed Kies on my computer, am I not able to run two devices off of Kies?
Hope someone can help.
Many thanks
I had the same problem. Try to "diagnostic connection problem" it will reinstall drivers, that it should works as mine
SN and Samsung's Kies Manager
Well....spoke with Samsung trying to understand this "Incorrect S/N" Kies insists, that comes from the sticker under the battery in the Note 4 phone from Sprint. Seems Samsung doesn't provide a S/N in the instance of Sprint and MetroPCS. The carrier does. When Kies is loaded to the laptop/computer, it "reads" the carrier from the computer. Calling Sprint (in my case), the representative took 55 minutes to find in the account the S/N for the phone. Seems had insurance on that phone and it was cross-referenced by the telephone number. Mind you this whole thing is less than 2 years old. The SN the Sprint representative gave me was the same number as the "DEC number" on the sticker, inside the phone, under the battery. The same number Kies says is incorrect.... <fp>
Further, Calling Samsung back, and being told by "Murthy P" to go ask friends and relatives to "borrow their phone so i can call their Voice support group (do you smell "tossed over the cubicle wall" here?), I asked for a Supervisor, who them informs me that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 "doesn't have a Serial Number that Kies 3 requires." Though Matthew at Sprint found the Serial Number to the phone:
Riyaz : Are you unable to find the S/N beneath battery of the phone?
Jim : X-( I see the sticker, and put all the numbers I've found there into Kies. It keeps saying "The S/N you have entered is incorrect. Please renter and try again." There is only 1 sticker under the batter on the NOTE 4. The same place it suggests in Kies.
Riyaz : Jim I should inform you that there will be no S/N available for your phone.
Jim : But as I told Yamini, in the FIRST conversation with Samsung, back around 6pm this evening:
Yamini M: I will be glad to assist you in getting the serial number.
Jim: Thank you.
Yamini M: Jim, I should inform you that Serial number is handled by carrier. Once you contact your carrier they will help you with serial number.
Jim: Sprint has the serial number for Kies??
Yamini M: Yes, Jim. Mobile will have serial number which is handled by your carrier.
Jim: that's not what Yamini said, or indicated with Kies, or offered by Sprint. All 3 point to the same information that Kies says is incorrect.
Riyaz : Are you trying to install firmware on the phone with Kies?
Jim: yes. Sprint says:
Matthew: Serial Number - 25################ ICCID (SIM) - XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Device - SAMSUNG N910 BLK XCVR SGL Had Insurance of $11Jim: And the Youtube video: How to Unbrick or Restore your Samsung Firmware with Kies, Universal Method works on all devices. Says so tooRiyaz : Let me check the details for you.
Jim: By all means.
Riyaz : Jim I have double checked the details for you there is no S/N for you device.
Jim: Hm. Riyaz, Kies, Matthew, Yamini, Murthy P and RootJunky all are lying????
Riyaz solution to Kies mis-programming, the Youtube video, the firmware, and software, and all the training in Samsung's Chat Center are all lies. She sent me a UPS sticker to "mail my phone" into their repair shop for a software "upgrade".
Kies keeps on saying check the model and S/N number and try again for my grand prime plus
Well that could be a number of reasons why .Try reading the threads fixes.
This is not the forum for your model its NOTE 10.1

[Q] Device Serial number differences

Hi,
I have noticed the following regarding the serial number of my phone (Huawei G500 pro - rooted - stock ROM)
When I go to System Settings\About phone\status i get the serial number 0123456789ABCDEF
But the sticker under the battery and in the package display a different one which looks like a normal 16 characters serial number.
I can only see the sticker's serial number when boot to factory settings (pressing power button & Vol -) in PCBA test.
In some other forums I read that the serial number can also be found in file /sys/class/android_usb/f_accessory/device/iSerial
In my case this file shows the 0123456789ABCDEF.
Does anybody has an idea what is happening?
Is there a way to have my normal serial number to be appeared?
Thank you
I don't know how to fix this but the same thing happened to me with my optimus v.

At least I ' m not the only one that noticed this. So you 've also checked and through factory menu or you compared with the sticker?
By the way are you rooted?
i have noticed that too on HTC phones and Samsung phones, tablets and tabs. turned to be all these chinese replicas that will bare the same look same software but different performance and lacking some software properties and features. especially in settings and camera. so now before i buy any phone, it has to be opened and i avoid any (0123456789abcdef or 00000000000000) serial numbers.

How to write serial numbers to the MB

I am trying to either find a legal program that can be used to do nothing more than write a serial number to a tablet Motherboard, or even find a way to create a simple program/app to do this for me. In replacing a board on a Samsung Android tablet, yellow block letter text appears on screen as well as displays incorrect serial number, anyone at all have any ideas on this. Needed for android tablets only though.
Thanks

"an unknown error occurs... " while trying to unlock tf700 (with v7)

I´m having a problem with unlocking.....
I have the "an unknown error occurs, which may be a network connection issue. Please wait and try again later."
I've seen that many people have had this problem and signing up for the device tracker would be a good idea. I tried to sign myself up for the device tracker (to check if my serial number is in their data base). This didn't work, so I called the asus support and they told me that the device tracker doesn't work and that they're on it (which I highly doubt)... But I did ask them the question whether they could see if my serial number is registered there. They said that when they typed my serial number they saw that it was connected to my email-account so they thought this was the answer to the question. I don't really know whether it is, but I still can't sign up for device tracker or unlock the tablet....
Please help! (The motivation ship is sinking...)
Also I have changed all the settings correctly I think: Two-step-verification = disabled, apps with lower security = enabled, usb debugging = on, unknown sources = on
Mailing tech support
I have send the following mail to support and I'm awaiting their response....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Asus support,
After having bought this product of yours a couple of years ago, it now runs like a slug. That is why I would like to unlock my tablet using the unlock tool (the 7th version) supplied by your site. It is not working however and I keep getting this message: "An unknown error occurs, which may be a network connection issue. Please wait and try again later.". Now I have read on multiple forums that many people have experienced this problem already and that the fault lies with the asus server and not with my tablet. I know that you will need my serial number and mac adress which I've put below so that you can send the information to the main server in Taiwan. I will be happy to provide you any other information you might need.
Furthermore I think it is very foolish to enforce such a vague policy regarding unlocking, which in the long term will only lose you your reputation and your customers (and therefore money). All I want is for this unlocker tool to finally work. I will not stop until this problem is finally resolved, so please do not try to brush me of your shoulders....
serial number: /////////
Wifi mac adress: ////////
Kind regards,
Kostis
Receiving support
The customer support was quite friendly actually.
They did not say anything about not supporting unlocking and sent my status information to their main office immediately. They said they corrected the database, but I´m still not able to unlock my tablet. So now I really wonder what could be the problem.....
anyone????
I just had this same problem, resolved in mid-May.
I started a phone desk request since I didn't have a serial in Settings ->about tablet in mid-April. That was fixed quickly, thanks to xda.
THEN I was told that my serial number was for a motherboard, not a tablet.
After struggling to get them to understand and not just dismiss the unlock issue, I got the ASUS helpdesk to send the information to Taiwan (TW) for the server upgrade, I waited two weeks with no answer back. When I checked in, letting them know I was still waiting, they told me TW had updated the information. I had other things to worry about by then, so a week later, the tablet unlocked easily (on the third try.) The problem is, as stated in another thread, pairing of the MAC address and the serial number in the TW database.
Try a few times. If it still doesn't work, and you get the bogus network communication error, it's back to the emails. Continue by replying to the last one; they have different people answering to the same name so track by number. There are at least two servers: If they didn't state it was an update to the TW server specifically, that's the problem.
IF you get to the Google log in, and it doesn't go, or it says you have the wrong info (password, user name warning), TRY AGAIN. and again, and again. Eventually, Google will ask you if you want to change the correct setting. Check your email at this step too: I was using my daughter's account on her tablet, but Google even sent her a message stating they had blocked a hack attempt on her account... with someone who KNEW HER PASSWORD! We approved the device thru Google (links on the email) and we were golden.
(BOY did I have an issue with getting ASUS techs to even admit that there was a way to update the TW server... the ASUS device tracker is no more: ASUS won't be supporting it any longer, since Google has their Mobile Device Tracker up and running. They'll tell you that unlocking the device means you can't track too, which is definitely not true. --tested)
My daughter's 700 is now running on Crombie-KK (with patch), 'cause while she's an aerospace engineer (almost), she doesn't "get" computers.
TF 300 on firmware still (needs research), but unlocked and rooted for digitizer board update
TF700T with LCD issues, trying to resolve
Thanks XDA!!
I´m happy that the issue is resolved for you, however they did specifically say they updated the information on the Taiwan servers for me 2 times. So should I just keep pushing and telling them that they are bull****ting me and they should try again?

I would say it more tactfully; you don't have to be nasty to get decent service from them, as tempting as it gets.... As Droidbound says, "you need to be a Polite PIA." (If they send you the survey, be direct and honest, but be professional.)
I would also call the phone "help line" for the (don't tell them) serial number using only your MAC address and make sure that the information they give you matches what shows on your status screen. THEN have them check to be sure that the same serial number is actually linked to a tablet, not a motherboard. Call twice, using each call server. Add this information to the line of emails that you have already started.
If you haven't already, make sure you have the correct version of the "version 7" unlocker. Doesn't hurt to doublecheck.
Keep in mind it did take me several tries to get the unlocker to actually work, even after they updated the TW server. I have read stories of the unlocker not working for up to 50 tries, and then it miraculously does.
My TF701t is giving me the unknown error when I try and unlock, too. The machine is out of guarantee, but it had a new motherboard fitted under guarantee and I guess the problem is that it has a different serial number. I have emailed support repeatedly, giving them both original and new S/Nos and the MAC address, and they seem to have trouble understanding my simple request to ensure their database carries the correct information. In fact, I'm not sure the person responding always reads to the end of the thread because they keep repeating questions and suggestions.
I have registered the new serial number, but they say that the unlock tool still won't work because the new serial number will be recognized as a motherboard not a device.
Their only suggestion is to send the machine in as the "software may have been injected incorrectly" - does that imply that the serial number could have been set to the original but wasn't? - but as the thing is out of guarantee that will be at my expense.
Keep in mind that the 701 is a different creature than the 700. However, it does sound like the problem is the same as mine was.
The real problem is the server in Taiwan (TW) does not have the proper, updated serial number (and maybe MAC address) for your new motherboard linked to your tablet on their database. (yes, you got the correct answer, but maybe not the correct correction) This is part of the warranty work you had done, but it wasn't completed. You do NOT need to send in your tablet again. This isn't an installed software problem: it's a paperwork problem.
That being said:
First things first: does your settings information show a serial number? If so, half the battle is won already, even if it's the new one. If there's not a serial number, search xda for serial number programming: it worked for me when my tablet did not show one internally. (if I were to do this again, I'd try to put in the old serial just to see what would happen in the unlocking but I'm a maverick that way... lol)
The fight comes in when you're trying to have them update the server in TW. I think the thing that worked for me was sending an email to [email protected]. I don't know if Tien works there anymore, but the email WILL go through, and his section worked out in 2012 or 13 how to fix the issue. It WILL get done.
In the email, give them the RPA number when the warranty work was done (if you still have it), the old serial and MAC number, and the new serial and MAC number. You can openly state unlocking purposes.
Give it about 2 weeks after the email. You will want to check your ASUS account for any followup: i didn't get any communication directly, but a new RPA was started.
Loads of thanks for that. You're correct, I should be in the TF701t bit of the forum, I ended up here by accident but the problem is exactly the same and the necessary fix the same.
Mailing UK support is completely useless, they are not at all helpful, beyond offering to examine my tablet for £50 minimum charge.
My settings shows a serial number, which is different from the original, and I have given both to support. I don't think I have my old MAC address, though; but I do have the repair details so I will try your polite email to Taiwan technique and let you know how it progresses.
Thanks again. More help in one email than in multiple daily exchanges with Asus.

if this is when you try to unlock the bootloader i had same problem mine was a refurbished product
i finally fixed and unlocked the bootloader after months of trying to figure it out
i forgot what i frigen did to unlock the bootloader
i think i just deleted all my accounts like google play and gmail from the tablet and then did the unlock and worked
im not 100 percent sure if thats what i did cause i dont rmemeber well
give it a try and hopefully it works easy
Well I emailed them a while back. The email was given a unique number on their support site, but nothing has happened.
I have tried the delete all google accounts, I'm sure the problem in my case is the serial number. One unhelpful uk support reply just said "it won't work because your serial number is now the motherboard number not the machine number" and "send it in we'll fix it it will cost at least £50". Thanks a bunch.
I'm getting quite fed up with this, it should really be so easy, the poor support means I won't be buying another Asus product.

EXACTLY the problem I had.
Unfortunately, the poor children answering phones and emails only have scripts to read: they seem to recognize only key words and have canned responses. No, they don't keep notes on your account, so you get the same answers and suggestions over and over. This can be played against them, for their understanding of your problem.
You do NOT need to send in the tablet. This is a data entry problem, not a software problem.
I agree with the level of support. unfortunately, the drive for "younger workers" and lower wages that a company prefers does not corroborate with the level of brain power inclusive in anyone who searches xda for answers, let alone someone who will post. Stick to your guns, and demand (nicely, remember they're just working people) that they update the server. Check on your new RPA and see if it has gone through.....
and try to unlock again. It's been four long months.....Maybe it will work this time.

Any fluent Chinese speakers able to assist in getting my bootloader unlock code?

so, I'm just a lot frustrated. I have been asking for my bootloader unlock code for about a week now without success. Several emails have been received and they keep asking the same thing. Because the "normal" error received mentions try another IMEI or MEID or your verification code is wrong they keep telling me to try again and use the correct verification code
I would really like someone to call Huawei China and get my unlock code directly from them. Any takers please? Thank you.

Have you used this email?: http://pastebin.com/RYSvQq21
And did you include a network information screenshot from Settings> About phone> Status> Network on your phone? They asked me this to show my non-chinese carrier. I also emailed them a screenshot of my Wonda Mobile receipt. The more info you give, the better. I got my bootloader unlock within the day after doing that.
You can use the ENGLISH WEBSITE for this: https://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin/unlock/index - it will redirect you to login and then take you to the EMUI 5.0 features page; simply re-type the page https://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin/unlock/index, and it will take you to the ENGLISH version of the bootloader request page. This is where you should take your screenshots. Enter the CAPTCHA correctly but DO NOT PRESS ENTER or else it will just refresh the CAPTCHA, and it won't match in your screenshot. Just click your mouse out of the CAPTCHA, and it will look like you entered it correctly. YOU MUST USE 3 DIFFERENT CAPTCHA examples for IME1, IMEI2, MEID, so they know you attempted this 3 DIFFERENT TIMES - JUST HIT THE COMMIT/SUBMIT button once and the CAPTCHA will refresh itself. Click out of the CAPTCHA box before your next screenshot.
Use his email example with your information correctly entered into it plus the following attachments:
1) IMEI1 failed screenshot with its own CAPTCHA
2) IMEI2 failed screenshot with its own CAPTCHA
3) MEID failed screenshot with its own CAPTCHA
4) *#*#2846579#*#* and choose 2. Veneer Informations -> 3. Other info screenshot from phone
5) *#*#1357946#*#* screenshot from phone (your sim card must be in it to show your network name at the top)
6) Settings> About phone> Status> Network screenshot from phone
7) Screenshot or a picture of your proof of purchase - I just took a screenshot of my email receipt and cropped accordingly. (this is optional)
They kept asking me for the same thing again and again as well, until I changed the language of the phone to Chinese, and made sure everything I sent them was in Chinese.
I also told them that I sent them the information and screenshots several times already, and I sent them an email every two hours, so that they'd want to just give me the code to get rid of having to deal with me.
It worked.
I can speak Chinese. But I am sorry that I am not clear about unlocking issues.
Hi all, thanks for the advice and offers of help. I actually got a response from Huawei China over night and it included my unlock code. Happy days.
