I've been using a Logitech Wireless Mouse + dongle + OTG adapter. This works well, but I want to free up the USB port for charging. Currently, I use the Logitech mouse along with a Bluetooth keyboard. I figure if I use Bluetooth for both the mouse and the keyboard that overall, this might use less power than the current arrangement.
I ordered a cheap Tecknet Bluetooth mouse from Amazon. It connects ok, the scrollwheel is smooth, but the mouse pointer is jumpy and laggy. Can anybody recommend a Bluetooth mouse that will work well with the Tab S without the lag? I know that some people use the Samsung S mouse, but I'm wondering is there's a more generic one that will work well.
I have an Hama M2140 bluetooth mouse, it is nice and small and light, it takes 2 x AAA battery`s and i use eneloop lite aaa rechargeable to keep the weight down, I have tried it with my 10.5" and it works fine, but i use it all the time with my Win8.1 tablet so the bluetooth and wifi are on together and it works fine with no lag, it comes in black or silver, they might have an newer version by now.

Strangely, it appears that that mouse isn't sold in the US.
It is it`s just a crazy price.

The black version is quite a bit cheaper than the silver on the HAMA Uk website.

I tried it briefly and it does work nice. If it was cheaper I would definitely get it myself.
I've always had good results with Logitech mice, so I ordered a refurb Logitech V470 from ebay. It's a discontinued model, but it gets high rankings in reviews. I'll see how it works.
I have had ASUS BX700 bluetooth mouse, it is not so light, and works comfortably well.

Anyone use Microsoft wedge mouse please comment on how good or bad it is.
I bought a Wedge Mouse specifically for my Tab S. It works perfectly well. It has smooth movement, and is extremely compact. It connects almost instantly once paired, and the connecction isn't dropped.
The touch pad it includes is mediocre, but functional -- it only does single-finger gestures, so you can't pinch and zoom or anything like that. Also, the touchpad is only on the back 2/3 of the mouse, so you can't use it while holding the mouse during normal use -- you have to push the mouse forward so your finger is over it. Also, the horizontal scrolling is almost useless -- I don't know if it's the fault of the mouse or of Android, but the smallest (like 1mm) movement to the left or right scrolls like 4 or 5 screens! In short, the touchpad sucks, but it's WAY better than having to extend your arm forward to touch the screen.
The bizarre shape of the wedge has not been much of a problem for me, much to my surprise. It's tolerably comfortable to use for something its size, in fact. My hand does tend to get cramped after using it for a while, due to how small it is, but that's the price you pay for using... a very small mouse. Also, I have big hands -- this might not be an issue for someone with smaller ones.
One thing that does drive me crazy -- and this might be true of all mice on Android, I don't know -- is that the right mouse button doesn't do anything remotely like what you expect from years of desktop OSes. It seems to close apps for the most part. I'd REALLY like to find a way to map the physical right button to the action of long-pressing the left button, because that would make it work as in Windows, etc.
Do you think a stylus pen can serve as a mouse without the button on the mouse? I have started another thread here. I don't draw, but do take notes occasionally. Do you think I can get away with a stylus while able to use it with the functionality of a mouse?
What can a mouse do that a stylus can't and vice versa?

Logitech MX Master and MX Anywhere 2 works flawlessly with this tablet. I have them both!

Luckily is a magnetic keyboard, which means I can still carry without it.
Noticed that the Internet browser button is no longer there? ALso, no joyce stick, ok button, and window buttons.
Yeh... dedicated row of number keys!
2 extra keys per row. This will be challenging to use. No keys for the corresponding soft keys. No more special keys for phones. Looks like a keyboard meant for input only, which is probably a good use of the keyboard space. I'm disappointed that lettter Z is still one character too right. Z should have been directly below the letter A, as is the case with standard keyboard. Should have made the left shift smaller and shift the whole row left by one key.
But the biggest questions are, any vibrating motor (sincere there is no more microdrive) and embedded earpiece?
Anyone care to comment on the google maps, tomtom included, and the video performance relative to the x7500/7501??
I think it looks tasty! The keyboard still looks useless...
I quite like the newer look, pity that there's no okay button I tend to use that quite a lot.
as the camera button is now on the front I wonder what the one on the top right is? seems daft to duplicate it.
Wonder if it would be possible to get the new athena keybaord to the old athena.

I think that's the voice recorder/com manager. They just shift it to the top.
I also use the ok button quite a bit to minimise application. For example, after a phone call, I press ok to hide it.
Looks nice - but evolution rather than revolution, I want one. Just not enough to make me fork out what it will cost.
How am I supposed to control my music player without the joystick and action button? Now I use it to volume up, volume down, next song, previous song, and off the screen. I also use OK button to bring up the playlist, and browser button to pause/play. With these buttons all gone now, playing music without switching on the screen would be a problem.
So much for the next version being the Next Big Thing. Loosing the joystick and half of the programmable buttons was a bad choice. No mention of vibrate, or gaining a private earpiece, either. No wider+narrow screen and form factor to make it more phone-like with more screen space. That membrane keyboard is going to suck, too. Anyone remember the Atari 400? There's a reason the Atari 800 was much more popular and so many aftermarket keyboards came out for the 400...
Next.
The new full keyboard looks like an improvement. Typing text with numbers or special character is now a nightmare on the advantage.
On the other hand, it looks like the little transparent strip at the back of the keyboard is now solid black. I kinda enjoy the fact that I can see who calls me with the keyboard attached.
Looks like the cut a lot of features from th Advantage where I don't even see what the point could be of losing them. How much space is that going to bring them and why would they need to save space on a device that's basically the same with only a bit of extra flash memory?

On a product like this, Velcro
And on a serious note, I'm loving the look, although I don't know how well it will work without the OK button, its a useful app switcher on the current generation. I could probably live without the joypad. Its a bit rubbish they've decided to drop the infobar thing (I'm assuming so given the 100% opaque keyboard) which is quite nice when your not using it in a case. I do like the look of the keyboard, might be more usable that the current one maybe.
Where are all the buttons? WTF?
We need more hardware buttons not less, and the joystick too Helloooo HTC WTF?
I would have considered it with the 16GB drive, but there is no chance now without buttons, I wanted a dedicated Answer/End buttons, I had the OK/Win buttons remapped as well as every other button with AE Buttons, this gave me Dedicated Answer/End plus Opera or IE and Flashlight all from a quick hardware button press.
I assume they are trying to to everything from TouchFlo instead.
I still would have liked vibrate and a dedicated ear speaker, for when my bluetooth headset is dead.
And the info display, I cant believe that they couldnt fix the damn reed magnet switch so it worked as advertised.
Well, still waiting for the next big thing

Anything, but, certainly not magnets(!). Why not permantely attach the keyboard or completly do away with it?
I find the Joystick to be most used button on the X7501. I rarely use the device in landscape mode when surfing my favorite blogs. I hold down the joystick to get past all the links on the home pages to get to the current messages. Also use it extensively to page forward in ebooks.

Here's the official press release: http://www.htc.com/press_room/03-press-080211_01.htm
Interesting that they only mention one camera in this release, yet the pictures show the camera facing the user. So... did the original 3 mp camera get chucked, along with the bright LED? Do you now need to turn the thing around to take a picture?
Other questions: Do the external GPS & cell antenna ports still exist? Does the new camera button (the old browser button) have two positions so you can focus first and then take the pic? What accessories will be included in the box this time (and will it include a belt-ready pouch)?
I think they really missed the boat on this one.
what about the backlight? does this keyboard get light on night?
On this danish site there is a bit more info about the new keyboard, which I don't see here:
http://qtek-user.dk/models.php?id=88 (very slow loading!)
It has what is called "haptic feedback", and it delievers a small vibration when you activate a key, which in my opinion must be an improvement to the old style. Also the numeric keys look great, but the lack of the various hardkeys is strange and probably inconvenient.
And here are the specs:
http://tele-online.dk/product.asp?product=16784&sub=67
Someone asked about GPS and Camera, according to this there are no changes, so both are present.
Ok, I have my Fuze running through the in-dash screen and I use it for GPS, internet, etc. However, I want to mount the phone so it's very clean and seamless but yet I still need access to the keyboard and screen for navigation. Has anyone done this succesfully, and if so, can you post pictures? I'd like a nice cradle that I can just plug it into and it will hook up my TV-out cable, my charger, etc. I'd like the charger to be hard wired too so it's not using my lighter socket.
2nd part of this question, does anyone recommend any certain software to make automotive usage any easier or more streamlined?

Not possible unless you can figure out a way to get usb hosting working on the phone. I have been looking into this myself as have many others and at the moment it is not possible. Even if usb hosting were to be enabled, you still would have to make a driver for it to work on that screen and would need to use more than your tv out cables to control the phone. Only way I know of is to run an actual car pc and use mymobiler to control your phone.
I think you read my post wrong. I already have everything working through that screen. I just need a place to mount the phone where it's handy and I can still use the keyboard. As it is now, it just sits on the passenger seat with a wire draping up into my dash.
After posting this, I was thinking if I could mount a bluetooth trackball device into my center console if it would act as a mouse (and somehow give me a mouse cursor?) then I could do everything with it and put the phone in the center console, out of sight. Have people been able to get a BT mouse to work with the phone?
i've done this with a number of HTC phones using a bluetooth mouse/keyboard and my Pioneer f700bt. The Think Outside Stowaway Bluetooth Keyboard is the ideal one for WM phones. Logitech v270 or v470 mouses have been known to work. As far as mounting it before I had my Pioneer screen, I attached my phone to my visor by strapping the holster of a car PDA mount to the visor using a velcro strap (see picture below). This way the touchscreen is still usable/accessible, but the keyboard on the phone probably wouldn't be. Also, if you check out the forums at www.mp3car.com, there are a lot of pictures and info of people using WM phones as carputers and integrating them into their cars. I believe there is one that had a mount in their glove box. You also may want to think about a vertical standing screw down PDA mount that you could attach to your console and still use the Fuze's keyboard.
I believe someone at mp3car.com was working on a front end software for mobile phones as carputers, you may want to look into it there. Some of the SPB software is handy for quick access when I used mine in the car.
check out what this guy did with his Dell Axm and his car, which you could apply a lot to the Fuze: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/gen...1v-aximizer-carputer-video-demonstration.html Pretty amazing.
Thanks, what mouse did you use?
I've been on mp3car.com for years and I spent the entire day on today. I felt the integration of WM phones was severaly lacking on this forum, I must have missed the posts.
Either way, if I can get a nice BT k/b and mouse then I think I'm going to mount a cradle inside the center console so it's all hidden and just have the k/b mouse mounted somewhere. Maybe even a custom center console, who knows. I hope all of this will be compatible with the TP2 also, I'll be switching over to that when AT&T decided to carry it.
I used the Logitech v270 with my HTC Wizard and P4300 running WM6.1 and it worked with both. I haven't tested it with the Fuze yet though. I think it would be fine. There are some generic drivers floating around various forums on here for bluetooth mice to work with WM. Whenever you decide what to do, I'd be interested in seeing the finished project!
you may want to check out this site for mounts for the Fuze:
http://www.ram-mount.com/Products/CellPhoneMounts/tabid/142/Default.aspx
just enter your phone as AT&T> Tilt and it will give you a ton of mounts that you may be able to use to position your keyboard and screen on the Fuze to be more accessible. The cupholder one may work for your setup.
sub'd for later, been trying to find hptuners for wm and this could work wonders
question
Awesome setup you have.
I have been wanting to setup a car PC myself. My original thoughts were to make a Windows XP box (located in trunk or dash) wired to a touchscreen on the console like you have. I had never considered just using my phone. This Pioneer screen that you have; how does it interface with your Fuze (USB/Bluetooth)? Are you just getting the display or is it a touchscreen that you can use to navigate on the device? Do you have the Fuze running your car audio?
Bracketron
They have a wealth of mounts that will keep you from destroying the sensitive fuze in a customized storage. I use this personally, and it works great during GPS navigation.

Hey there.
I'm looking for HP Touchpad Wireless Keyboard and I've been looking everywhere on the internet to check its dimensions (in size).
Can someone of you (who already bought it) check what are the width and length? I really want to know how pocketable it is. I have a case and I want to use it to put the keyboard there too. So I'm wondering how much is big HP Keyboard (compared to an Apple keyboard for example)
And I have one more question. Do you have any idea if HP Keyboard will be usable with Touchpad running Android?
I have one it works great with cm7. Here is a couple pics of size. It's 11 inch long and almost 5 and a half from top to bottom.

When it says hit 0000 or 1234 to pair hit 0000 then ok on the tp. Immediately hit 0000 on the keyboard then return it should pair up. That is how I got mine to pair. If you need more help there is a post in tp general that is a little more detailed. Hope it works for you.

Worked like a charm! I had read that somewhere else bit missed the part about hitting enter on the keyboard. Such a silly mistake!
Thank you!
I'm getting my HP Bluetooth keyboard tomorrow. I am so glad you guys mentioned that passkey info. I am also running the CM7 version 2 alpha. I was really worried about the keyboard working with the android side of the tablet. Thank you for the info!
If you plan on running a Linux OS on it, I suggest you get a BT KB made for PCs. I have an HP BT keyboard and it takes a slight learning curve to master the keys which are missing from the HP keyboard.
Yeah part of me wishes I had sprung for a more PC like keyboard so I could use it with my my desktop.
For the size though, I don't know what else is comparable other than an apple keyboad. Maybe that's what I should have gotten.
I've got the Logitech BT Keyboard for Android that works fine with WebOs - 11.4" x 5.1" . One of the guys from the Cyanogen team has a youtube video showing how you can use a wired USB keyboard with the TP - uses a Y cable, but I haven't tried just using an adapter (USB to Micro).
From Thinkgeek here. Says it fits the OG iPad and with our TP's being roughly the same size do you think this would work? The cutouts seem rather generic on the case so I don't see controls being an issue. Only problem I do see is that the camera would be blocked, but it wouldn't matter to myself.

Thank you for someone actually replying.
You actually sent me off on a search for a keyboard/case myself but I managed to convince myself I really don't need it.
My boss has this for his iPad 2, and it even has the notch for the iPad 2 front camera. This morning I slipped my HP TouchPad in it, and it fit like a glove. Every button on the TouchPad was accessible: Power, Volume, headphone, bottom speakers, front camera, home button, and the unused card slot. I like it alot, but be sure to get the one for the iPad 2 since it has a hole/notch for the front camera. I like this, but it's too expensive. I'm looking for something cheaper.
This case (or one very similar) is being sold by Maplins in the UK.
I bought one and it fits and BT keyboard working fine.

BTW The one I got has the cutout for the camera.
Just so guys know, this is on sale at thinkgeek.com for $29.99 for their Christmas special.
I just purchased this case and it will not pair with my Touchpad. It says "Unable to connect to keyboard (HID) profile" after entering the pairing code. I have tried resetting - the the keyboard connects to my iPhone without a problem. Any advice?

Do tell. I had it paired. Then I had it paired in android (xron's version of CM7) - and when I came back to WebOS, it pairs, but then gives the same error (unable to connect to keyboard (HID) profile).
I tried deleting the pairing and re-pairing from scratch - but it continues to give the same error.

UPDATE: I finally got it working by having it start the pairing process, then holding the "Connect" button on the keyboard while it was trying to pair. After doing this a few times, it finally connected. However, it seems that it constantly disconnects. Pressing keys on the keyboard reconnects it, but there is a lag. What you'll want to do is enter ANY code on the Touchpad. After you press the button to confirm the code, immediately type the same code on the bluetooth keyboard and press enter
I've pretty much given up on it - constantly disconnects. Big pain in the arse
That did it, thank you.
Oddly the device shows as disconnected in Android but Bluetooth Keyboard has it connected and working for the moment. I will play around with. It and see what happens.

Hey guys,
You guys remember the days of touch pro2, now that was an awesome keyboard phone. But, now with the age of slim being the new trend. Would we see more phones that resemble the keyboard of the touch pro2. So, let's begin the discussion on what you think the future of keyboard phone is. I wish htc goes back to those key features which made it so great....
sorry, if there is another thread like this....
They might disappear eventually, but I think some heavy texters still prefer physical keyboards. With Swype I can almost meet the speed of a physical keyboard, but it's not quite the same. Optional bluetooth keyboards that attach in some way might start to become more prevalent, though.

It seems like its only a matter of time before software keyboards get better - there just isn't space to put a physical keyboard on a phone. the swype system seems to be the best currently but anyone might dream up newer and better ways. speech recognition is also getting better all the time.
Tactile screens will probably bring about the real end to physical keyboards as they're the only way to really replace them. It'd be the best of both worlds as well. Imagine a physical keyboard that's context sensitive!
I don't see them dying completely. I know a lot of people crying when Blackberry is brought up, but there are still quite a few people over there that won't give up on a physical kb.
I have even contemplated it myself with a 9900. If not for the bricking issue....it really is an amazing phone, IMO.

I think there will continue to be a market for hard keys, but all things have their time.

I'm a fan of the Droid 2 and 3's keyboard, but I rather have a touchscreen now.

yeah, but those keyboards are nothing compared to the keyboard on touchpro2...
Touch screens are annoying sometimes, on keyboard phones you always hit right button, anyway I prefer touch screens (dictionary is very helpful while typing). Today I had a chance to play with speech recognition on iPhone and its preaty cool...Someone should start doing research on mind keyboards, just think instead of typing
I agree that there is still a market for keyboards, but with phones becoming thinner, there's really no way to have a real keyboard anymore. I'm personally all for touchscreen digital keyboards, but I understand some people don't like change.
The strongest point against physical kb is the space issue. Period. It is literally a waste of space. I was on bb for a good while and swore I'd never leave, so loved the keys blah blah blah. Swiftkeyx made me just as fast, and the tech, as everyone has mentioned, is only getting better

I could live without physical keys while typing (even though its a struggle) but nothing is ever going to replace physical buttons for playing games.

Agreed. Not only do on screen buttons take up space, they aren't as easy to use as physical buttons.
i feel the pain
my work just switched me off the blackberry and onto touch screens..... our hands are to dirty to work them!

I love my Epic because of the keyboard. For long emails and typing in terminal mode where I have to type a lot of symbols and and numbers, you can't beat a physical keyboard (don't have to keep hitting the symbol key and alphabet key just to switch between symbols, numbers, and letters). Also, while playing emulator games like Street Fighter II, I can use my Game Gripper and it feels just like a controller. Also having that extra half screen of visual real estate while typing does help as well.
I like the HTC Desire Z

yeah, the desire z was good, but the keyboard was a bit small...
I had a hell of a time finding a qwerty smartphone to replace my G2 (T-Mo branded Desire Z) - ended up with a Captivate Glide and haven't looked back since. I've tried using Swype, but it just isnt the same. I can't see where my finger is and no tactile feedback for on-screen keys, and the OSK covers up (for example) the message I'm trying to reply to...
