[Q] Bluetooth case for iPad - TouchPad Accessories

From Thinkgeek here. Says it fits the OG iPad and with our TP's being roughly the same size do you think this would work? The cutouts seem rather generic on the case so I don't see controls being an issue. Only problem I do see is that the camera would be blocked, but it wouldn't matter to myself.

Thank you for someone actually replying.

You actually sent me off on a search for a keyboard/case myself but I managed to convince myself I really don't need it.

My boss has this for his iPad 2, and it even has the notch for the iPad 2 front camera. This morning I slipped my HP TouchPad in it, and it fit like a glove. Every button on the TouchPad was accessible: Power, Volume, headphone, bottom speakers, front camera, home button, and the unused card slot. I like it alot, but be sure to get the one for the iPad 2 since it has a hole/notch for the front camera. I like this, but it's too expensive. I'm looking for something cheaper.

This case (or one very similar) is being sold by Maplins in the UK.
I bought one and it fits and BT keyboard working fine.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/ipad-universal-black-leather-case-with-bluetooth-keyboard-509917
BTW The one I got has the cutout for the camera.

Just so guys know, this is on sale at thinkgeek.com for $29.99 for their Christmas special.

I just purchased this case and it will not pair with my Touchpad. It says "Unable to connect to keyboard (HID) profile" after entering the pairing code. I have tried resetting - the the keyboard connects to my iPhone without a problem. Any advice?

Make sure you have bluetooth keyboard from the market installed.

Well, I was trying to pair it in WebOS. Is this not possible?

Thanks! Interestingly enough - it lets me enter the code on the keyboard and also detects when I press enter (for the code). But then it errors out on the connection.

Figured it out.. thanks.

Do tell. I had it paired. Then I had it paired in android (xron's version of CM7) - and when I came back to WebOS, it pairs, but then gives the same error (unable to connect to keyboard (HID) profile).
I tried deleting the pairing and re-pairing from scratch - but it continues to give the same error.
What did you 'figure out'?!

Anyone? I'm still having issues as well
UPDATE: I finally got it working by having it start the pairing process, then holding the "Connect" button on the keyboard while it was trying to pair. After doing this a few times, it finally connected. However, it seems that it constantly disconnects. Pressing keys on the keyboard reconnects it, but there is a lag. This is very frustrating - any advice?

I just got this in the mail today but can't find the pairing code. Can anybody point me to what the code is or where it is hidden?

What you'll want to do is enter ANY code on the Touchpad. After you press the button to confirm the code, immediately type the same code on the bluetooth keyboard and press enter
I've pretty much given up on it - constantly disconnects. Big pain in the arse

That did it, thank you.
Oddly the device shows as disconnected in Android but Bluetooth Keyboard has it connected and working for the moment. I will play around with. It and see what happens.
Thanks again

[Q] Sensation and Bluetooth keyboard?

Anyone who has one, have you tried a BT keyboard out yet? I have a DHD which doesn't support one but was hoping the Sensation, with BT3, would.
Any information appreciated.
Dave
Hmmm. I know there aren't too many Sensations in the wild yet but I thought that someone might have tried a BT keyboard by now.... Is there any way to know if the BT 'HID' profile is on the phone? I believe that's the profile needed for a keyboard.
Any comments on this driver ... https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mymobilegear ... ? Seems to have mixed reviews in the market.
Also, what's the general consensus on BT with the Sensation for headsets and music streaming to, say, a car head unit? Any problems seen as yet? I ask as none of the reviews I've seen mention BT except to say 'it's supported'.
Thanks
Dave
Can't comment on Bluetooth keyboards, but i have used it in my car paired with my Sony car stereo and it works fine. Think that is using the Bluetooth headphone profile.

Thanks for that. Been doing some more digging to try to find out about keyboards. Seems my current phone "should" support a keyboard like the Freedom Pro which supports the SPP profile (also used for keyboards, as is the HID profile). See ... http://www.apt8h.com/Computer/Elect...st-foldable-bluetooth-keyboards-reviewed.html ... for a review and more details.
Then I had one of those doh!!! moments and checked HTCs website for the Sensation at ... http://www.htc.com/www/product/sensation/specification.html ... and down under Bluetooth we find ...
"... Bluetooth® 3.0
A2DP for wireless stereo headsets
FTP and OPP (object push) for file transfer
PBAP for phonebook access from the car kit
Other supported profiles: AVRCP, GAP, GOEP, HFP, HID, HSP, MAP, SPP, SDAP ..."
Seems I answered my own question However, the proof of the pudding and all that .... it'd still be interesting to find someone who'd had one working ...

That'd be great. Just to clarify though, I don't think it's the BT 3 that's the issue as prior BT levels had the HID profile with other phones. I think BT 3 itself is more about power savings. Why HTC decided to add the HID profile to this release, arther than earlier, is anyones guess. Be interesting to know that as well though .....

Any news guys? Got an MHL adapter the other day and want to use my phone almost as a light PC on my living room TV.
sorry that im late to the game guys but have tested an logitech mx5500 bt keyboard with my sensation and it works absolutely like a dream using bluezime or similar as this didn't work with the desire at all i hope that this answers every ones question about will a bt keyb work
Didn't see this thread as well.
I'm getting the i-Tech virtual bt kb that I used back in the day under the symbian platform on Sony Ericsson's but found that I can get the driver under mymobilegear.com to use the virtual kb again. I am stoked at this and report back if it works or not lol...

mhl+keyb is amazing just wish i could get the zeemote js1 to work, constantly asks me to enter a passcode into the zeemote itself, which ofcourse only has 4 buttons no numerical input :\ silly htc with their bt stack problems, hey at least keyboards work now XD

So, final verdict? Which keyboard should one get if they want a mini keyboard that can fit in ones pockets?
Someone recommended me the Bluetooth mini keyboard. I want something small without paying the premium price of the Dinovo Mini
My Rii mini bluetooth keyboard works flawlessly with my Sensation. You don't need to install anything just search for devices and connect
bluezimie didn't work. Using keypro and so far so good.
i-Tech VKB and keypro
Update:
Been using the i-tech vkb for a day and so far ok for what it is. This virtual keyboard is what I remember it is to be since I used it with my old MW600 by Sony Ericsson running Symbian OS.
The app works great with this kb. Of course there will be miskeys due to the spacing of the kb and where your finger is pressed, but I get that anyway using the onscreen kb lol....
Anyway here are some pics I snapped. I know it's pretty bright in here. It's 105 here today! There's bound to be "SOME" sun lol

Question about HP Keyboard (sizes and Android)

Hey there.
I'm looking for HP Touchpad Wireless Keyboard and I've been looking everywhere on the internet to check its dimensions (in size).
Can someone of you (who already bought it) check what are the width and length? I really want to know how pocketable it is. I have a case and I want to use it to put the keyboard there too. So I'm wondering how much is big HP Keyboard (compared to an Apple keyboard for example)
And I have one more question. Do you have any idea if HP Keyboard will be usable with Touchpad running Android?
I have one it works great with cm7. Here is a couple pics of size. It's 11 inch long and almost 5 and a half from top to bottom.

When it says hit 0000 or 1234 to pair hit 0000 then ok on the tp. Immediately hit 0000 on the keyboard then return it should pair up. That is how I got mine to pair. If you need more help there is a post in tp general that is a little more detailed. Hope it works for you.

Worked like a charm! I had read that somewhere else bit missed the part about hitting enter on the keyboard. Such a silly mistake!
Thank you!
I'm getting my HP Bluetooth keyboard tomorrow. I am so glad you guys mentioned that passkey info. I am also running the CM7 version 2 alpha. I was really worried about the keyboard working with the android side of the tablet. Thank you for the info!
If you plan on running a Linux OS on it, I suggest you get a BT KB made for PCs. I have an HP BT keyboard and it takes a slight learning curve to master the keys which are missing from the HP keyboard.
Yeah part of me wishes I had sprung for a more PC like keyboard so I could use it with my my desktop.
For the size though, I don't know what else is comparable other than an apple keyboad. Maybe that's what I should have gotten.
I've got the Logitech BT Keyboard for Android that works fine with WebOs - 11.4" x 5.1" . One of the guys from the Cyanogen team has a youtube video showing how you can use a wired USB keyboard with the TP - uses a Y cable, but I haven't tried just using an adapter (USB to Micro).

[Q] Bluetooth mouse recommendation?

I've been using a Logitech Wireless Mouse + dongle + OTG adapter. This works well, but I want to free up the USB port for charging. Currently, I use the Logitech mouse along with a Bluetooth keyboard. I figure if I use Bluetooth for both the mouse and the keyboard that overall, this might use less power than the current arrangement.
I ordered a cheap Tecknet Bluetooth mouse from Amazon. It connects ok, the scrollwheel is smooth, but the mouse pointer is jumpy and laggy. Can anybody recommend a Bluetooth mouse that will work well with the Tab S without the lag? I know that some people use the Samsung S mouse, but I'm wondering is there's a more generic one that will work well.
I have an Hama M2140 bluetooth mouse, it is nice and small and light, it takes 2 x AAA battery`s and i use eneloop lite aaa rechargeable to keep the weight down, I have tried it with my 10.5" and it works fine, but i use it all the time with my Win8.1 tablet so the bluetooth and wifi are on together and it works fine with no lag, it comes in black or silver, they might have an newer version by now.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-M2140-Bluetooth-Mouse-Black/dp/B003U8NZ0Q?
John.
Strangely, it appears that that mouse isn't sold in the US.
It is it`s just a crazy price.

The black version is quite a bit cheaper than the silver on the HAMA Uk website.

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Ultrathin-Touch-Windows-Gestures/dp/B00DR8LA6U
I tried it briefly and it does work nice. If it was cheaper I would definitely get it myself.
I've always had good results with Logitech mice, so I ordered a refurb Logitech V470 from ebay. It's a discontinued model, but it gets high rankings in reviews. I'll see how it works.
I have had ASUS BX700 bluetooth mouse, it is not so light, and works comfortably well.
https://www.asus.com/Keyboards-Mice/BX700/
Anyone use Microsoft wedge mouse please comment on how good or bad it is.
I bought a Wedge Mouse specifically for my Tab S. It works perfectly well. It has smooth movement, and is extremely compact. It connects almost instantly once paired, and the connecction isn't dropped.
The touch pad it includes is mediocre, but functional -- it only does single-finger gestures, so you can't pinch and zoom or anything like that. Also, the touchpad is only on the back 2/3 of the mouse, so you can't use it while holding the mouse during normal use -- you have to push the mouse forward so your finger is over it. Also, the horizontal scrolling is almost useless -- I don't know if it's the fault of the mouse or of Android, but the smallest (like 1mm) movement to the left or right scrolls like 4 or 5 screens! In short, the touchpad sucks, but it's WAY better than having to extend your arm forward to touch the screen.
The bizarre shape of the wedge has not been much of a problem for me, much to my surprise. It's tolerably comfortable to use for something its size, in fact. My hand does tend to get cramped after using it for a while, due to how small it is, but that's the price you pay for using... a very small mouse. Also, I have big hands -- this might not be an issue for someone with smaller ones.
One thing that does drive me crazy -- and this might be true of all mice on Android, I don't know -- is that the right mouse button doesn't do anything remotely like what you expect from years of desktop OSes. It seems to close apps for the most part. I'd REALLY like to find a way to map the physical right button to the action of long-pressing the left button, because that would make it work as in Windows, etc.
Do you think a stylus pen can serve as a mouse without the button on the mouse? I have started another thread here. I don't draw, but do take notes occasionally. Do you think I can get away with a stylus while able to use it with the functionality of a mouse?
What can a mouse do that a stylus can't and vice versa?

THANK YOU. Was going to drive me nuts.
It works for me but it takes over a minute before it starts. The car does more see the device. Skoda Octavia Combi model 2018.
Anyone else has the same slow starts?
EDIT: fixed it! Disabling ADB debugging solves the delay (found out using logcat)
Works fine for me on 2018 Acura. Only issue, as referenced above, is if the notch is hidden, it cuts off the screen on the car's display.
Works fine in my [emoji176]Kia Rio 2018[emoji176]
Had to disable the notch hide... grrrr, works fine, not as snappy as my pixel 2 xl in android auto though, connected to 2018 Jeep
works fine on Chevy Volt 2017.
Yep is fine for me. Was tricky to initially pair but after I changed notch setting it worked. 2017 Mercedes.

Cool! I've never actually used Android Auto. (Mine's a much older system, so too prehistoric to have smart related stuff, but after seeing this, I'm now seriously thinking of upgrading). Does it give you access to all of the stuff on your android phone, or is it just basic stuff like syncing up music, etc?

Its a long-ish answer so just download the Android Auto app on your phone and see it in action. What you see on the phone running the app is what you see in the car (aside from integration with steering wheel buttons etc).
Work fine with Skoda Octavia 2018
It mostly works for me but I have to change the connection mode from USB charging to MPT every time I want to connect to my car. Otherwise, it won't detect the phone.
This is with a Honda Accord 2016. The car connection has the same issue with the OnePlus 3T but not with a Motorola phone that I tested.

Oh Ok, this sort of answers my question anyway. (so basically it's more of an app than a built-in full blown Android OS on a car stereo). In other words, limited features rather than a full OS.. Not alot of point for me then if that's all it does. (Mainly I would have used it for music and gps in the car, but I can already do that from my phone easily enough). But if it had been the whole Android OS that does literally everything my phone does, then that would have been totally worth it!
Thanks for the heads up though! What feature do you use yours for mostly?

Screen is broker, how to backup phone?

Hello everyone,
dropped my phone on Friday, didn't have a single scratch. But the screen didn't turn on, just had first a weird green line on top of the screen.
Brought it to a repair shop, they said the screen is burned and has to be changed.
First the positive things:
- phone is still running (LED, vibration, finger sensor, etc.)
- has internet access (could yesterday use WhatsApp Web)
I didn't backup all of my pictures, a few apps, screenshots etc. So Best solution for me would still be to have a functioning screen. The local repair store checks if the screen is available and how much it would cost.
Do you know what else I could do? I mean the phone is 2 1/2 years old, so I could also replace it, but I want to backup all of my apps and files.
I already checked adb, the device is listed but "unauthorized".
What options do I have?
Thank you and best regards
If the digitizer (touch) works, do what I recommended here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/help/broken-amoled-digitizer-data-recovery-t4160245
If it doesn't, you're going to need a USB splitter to connect both your phone to your PC and a mouse to your phone in order to confirm the adb authorization dialog (or at least that's the only idea I have at the moment). And a lot of luck to click where you're supposed to click. But yeah, it might work.
Ah, he has the exactly same problem
I like the idea with scrcpy, that would fit my needs to backup everything and then I can take a new phone. The problem at the moment is that I seem to be unable to press the button to authorize the phone.
I didn't get the idea with the USB splitter? You mean to connect a screen and a mouse to the phone? I tried with a USB-C portable screen, that didn't work. Is this possible with a splitter?

Do you mean something like this here:

Using the splitter for simultaneous mouse and PC connection is exactly what I meant (the one in the picture is absolutely fine), albeit if your screen is completely dead, and the digitizer is broken (or so it seems), it's going to be really hard to click in the right place, I think.
As for the portable screen, OP6 doesn't support video output via USB-C AFAIK, so that's why you didn't have any luck with it (a splitter won't help with that). Technically you could use a displaylink device to mirror your screen, but I feel like that's just too much hassle.
Eh, I think I'm out of ideas for now. Maybe somebody else will be able to help. Hope you get your issue solved!
EDIT: I think I have an idea on how you could check whether touch actually works or not. Do you, by any chance, have touch sounds on? If yes, you should be able to hear a sound for every action you make on the phone (like opening an app and such). Just make sure that your phone isn't muted beforehand
EDIT2: Oooooooor you could just use a keyboard to confirm the dialog/input the code in TWRP if you have that installed (and if TWRP actually supports keyboards). Also worth trying.

Thank you so much for your propals! So finally I could make it run, I didn't start ADB, but I started directly ScrCpy and somehow on the phone pressed the button to accept the notebook. Since then I can connect with ScrCpy and now I can do my backup like that!
