Anyone who has one, have you tried a BT keyboard out yet? I have a DHD which doesn't support one but was hoping the Sensation, with BT3, would.
Any information appreciated.
Dave
Hmmm. I know there aren't too many Sensations in the wild yet but I thought that someone might have tried a BT keyboard by now.... Is there any way to know if the BT 'HID' profile is on the phone? I believe that's the profile needed for a keyboard.
Any comments on this driver ... https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mymobilegear ... ? Seems to have mixed reviews in the market.
Also, what's the general consensus on BT with the Sensation for headsets and music streaming to, say, a car head unit? Any problems seen as yet? I ask as none of the reviews I've seen mention BT except to say 'it's supported'.
Thanks
Dave
Can't comment on Bluetooth keyboards, but i have used it in my car paired with my Sony car stereo and it works fine. Think that is using the Bluetooth headphone profile.

Thanks for that. Been doing some more digging to try to find out about keyboards. Seems my current phone "should" support a keyboard like the Freedom Pro which supports the SPP profile (also used for keyboards, as is the HID profile). See ... http://www.apt8h.com/Computer/Elect...st-foldable-bluetooth-keyboards-reviewed.html ... for a review and more details.
Then I had one of those doh!!! moments and checked HTCs website for the Sensation at ... http://www.htc.com/www/product/sensation/specification.html ... and down under Bluetooth we find ...
"... Bluetooth® 3.0
A2DP for wireless stereo headsets
FTP and OPP (object push) for file transfer
PBAP for phonebook access from the car kit
Other supported profiles: AVRCP, GAP, GOEP, HFP, HID, HSP, MAP, SPP, SDAP ..."
Seems I answered my own question However, the proof of the pudding and all that .... it'd still be interesting to find someone who'd had one working ...

That'd be great. Just to clarify though, I don't think it's the BT 3 that's the issue as prior BT levels had the HID profile with other phones. I think BT 3 itself is more about power savings. Why HTC decided to add the HID profile to this release, arther than earlier, is anyones guess. Be interesting to know that as well though .....

Any news guys? Got an MHL adapter the other day and want to use my phone almost as a light PC on my living room TV.
sorry that im late to the game guys but have tested an logitech mx5500 bt keyboard with my sensation and it works absolutely like a dream using bluezime or similar as this didn't work with the desire at all i hope that this answers every ones question about will a bt keyb work
Didn't see this thread as well.
I'm getting the i-Tech virtual bt kb that I used back in the day under the symbian platform on Sony Ericsson's but found that I can get the driver under mymobilegear.com to use the virtual kb again. I am stoked at this and report back if it works or not lol...

mhl+keyb is amazing just wish i could get the zeemote js1 to work, constantly asks me to enter a passcode into the zeemote itself, which ofcourse only has 4 buttons no numerical input :\ silly htc with their bt stack problems, hey at least keyboards work now XD

Thanks I'll try it when I get the kb and report back.
So, final verdict? Which keyboard should one get if they want a mini keyboard that can fit in ones pockets?
Someone recommended me the Bluetooth mini keyboard. I want something small without paying the premium price of the Dinovo Mini
My Rii mini bluetooth keyboard works flawlessly with my Sensation. You don't need to install anything just search for devices and connect
bluezimie didn't work. Using keypro and so far so good.
i-Tech VKB and keypro
Update:
Been using the i-tech vkb for a day and so far ok for what it is. This virtual keyboard is what I remember it is to be since I used it with my old MW600 by Sony Ericsson running Symbian OS.
The app works great with this kb. Of course there will be miskeys due to the spacing of the kb and where your finger is pressed, but I get that anyway using the onscreen kb lol....
Anyway here are some pics I snapped. I know it's pretty bright in here. It's 105 here today! There's bound to be "SOME" sun lol

I guess it does, same connector. Give it a try.
Is working perfectly with tf3d and fm receiver
Can you use your own headphones with this?
http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=150195
if you check the description and a user comment says you can 3.5 mm
Yes you can!
Key Features
- The E100 includes 3.5mm stereo earphones or use your own!
Nice to know that this is working, can anyone post some real pics, so I can get an impression of the real size and colour!
who can i buy the RC E100 (will this be sold separately as an accessory)?!
Yes you can, check HTC homepage or use google.
Can anyone try if this works with the diamond as well? Especially the buttons on the control device.
Tested and approved.
I bought it for my Trinity and now it works perfectly for my diamond.
Works as an antenna for the FM. All controls working nativly with the new TouchFlo3D.
perfectly, thank you for your confirmation!

I read somewhere in the net, that you might have problems with some of the HTC devices. Can you please confirm, that:
a) with this remote attached, the screen turns off (save battery time)
- I read, this is not the case
b) the screen will always turn on as soon you press any key (even in you pocket)
c) works perfectly with the Diamond
Thanks in advance
RC E100 plugged without any driver or software added - screen turned off
- by pressing Play, it plays the music and the screen stays turned off
- by pressing next-previous, it changes the song and the screen stays turned off
- by controlling the volume (buttons at the bottom) it changes Volume and the screen stays turned off
the only buttons that turns on the screen are the one for phone calls.
Tested right now with my Diamond
How about the sound quality, is it better than the ones that come in the box?
I had a P1i before, and I planning to buy the RC E100 and use the intra speakers from the hpm-75:
Has anyone tried the same? Do you think I'll get the same sound quality as my SE phone, which was much better?
I plugged a basic Sony headset. I didn't try yet the one in the box.
Peio64 ? With a name like that, you are from Euskadi ?
(edited sry double post)
Haha yes, I probably have the only diamond in the region
So you use your sony headset with an adaptor, can you compare with the crappy htc one?
Other question: I found the volume really too loud, I usually listen to music at work, and even with 1 volume bar (hard to set with the finger by the way), I think it's too strong. Does the minimal volume change with other handsets?

Can you please concretize what you mean by "crappy htc"? I have a SE and the same headset as Peio64. And. I am quite happy with it. Is the htc worse?
When I say "crappy" I mean
- no bass
- bad "isolation" (everyone around can hear what you're listening)
It's about the headset that comes in the box, don't know about the RC E100, anyway I will use the RCE100 remote with the HPM-75 intras, the lenght of the wire will be perfect
Has anyone has tried the RC E100 with a hermes?
What other devices (besides the Tytyn II and Diamond) can confirm?
Does anyone know the difference between the two (RC E100 and RC W100)?
I tried the RC W100 with my hermes ( with a few different ROMs) with no luck...
Is it true you can only control audio manager and WMP?
Can anyone look over the "driver cab" to see if other players might be possible?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Guys,
Can someone, anyone, please confirm the difference between using the supplied headphones that come with the HRC diamond which are
a) bass-less (and I already know about the Audio booster bug - I mean they still dont have much bass when you have worked around that bug)
b) not isolated well (as pointed out above)
and compare with using a decent set of 3.5mm headphones that are connected with the RC E100 or with one of those USB to 3.5mm adapters that you can get from ebay.
Does better headphones = lots more bass? The supplied headphones just don't seem to push out much but I wonder how much of a role the actual diamond plays in this....
Thanks in advance to anyone who can confirm this.

im determined to get down to some fallout 1 and 2 on the go on my dhd and iv had a look into the bluetooth keyboard routem just seems a bit much to spend 30 odd gbp on a keyboard online to discover it wont work on my DHD.
Pls someone put me out of my misery and direct me to a bluetooth (or micro usb) keyboard and mouse set up that will work on the DHD
i will be most grateful

How are you playing Fallout 1 and 2!?!?
You will need scripts to get HiD working. N900 can use keyboard and mouse via BT (and USB now) but you need to get scripts, and I'm guessing this would be the same.
Look and see if anyone has it running on Desire or Z. Should be easy to bring them over.

This is my point I'M NOT PLAYING IT YET but this is down to the fact I have no keyboard or mouse yet. And as for how I would run the Games I wud use a dos box style emulator then play the Games. Th insides of the dhd specs show up as good as my mums desktop which I play fallout on so I imagine if u can get doom ported to Android fallout will be no buggy either. Can u imagine the joy of long train journeys with fallout to keep u occupied. As for the second paragraph of ur post I have no idea about any of that stuff. I have seen a MINI bt keyboard saying it is desire Hd compatible but until its confirmed I ain't parting with my cash.

Cyanogen includes a program called Bluekeyboard JP
I have used my logitech bluetooth keyboard with mouse trackpad designed for the PS3 with it before.
Detects it as an HID device and gives a keyboard option in input settings. Works farely well.
I have tried all the other bluetooth keyboard apps in the market and none of them enabled me to use it until I used cyanogen.

Thanks Midgeslayer, that looks very cool. Just friggen expensive in South Africa. Just under $200
The safest option would be I'd say using a BT Keyboard like the Freedom Pro or maybe trying out Bluetooth JP or other software on another BT Keyboard.
The cheapest way if you don't own a bluetooth keyboard would be to use a USB Keyboard and create an adaptor or USB Dongle as follows. Again I'm still too nervous about this. If someone with a better understanding of electronics and the Desire HD could explain to me if solderding up this USB Dongle which shorts a pin on the USB connector is safe then I'll do it... The parts can be bought from dealextreme.com or ebay for next to nothing. Mini USB Keybaords are also very cheap.
Here's the link:
http://gigaom.com/mobile/how-to-add-a-usb-keyboard-to-an-android-phone/
Which do you think would be better for saving battery, a USB keyboard or a Bluetooth keyboard? I am wondering if any real difference as I am planning on doing this for full days of lectures and typing notes.
Possible Blueinput solution
I can't say about the DHD, but you might like to check at the teksoftco forum
I am running their Blueinput driver with an Apple Wifi Keyboard on a Nexus One v 2.2.1 OK. Only snag for me is that the keyboard has a Norwegian layout and Blueinput treats it as a US one..
Mvh
According to their website Orange UK are about to offer the freedom universal bluetooth keyboard for a measly £7. Does anyone know if this version of the keyboard is compatible with the DHD in the same way as the Freedom Pro?

Wondering if there is any way to easily add-on / flash the 'required protocols' needed to pair a rooted Sensation with a SixAxis controller.
I downloaded the compatibility app to check, and it said the Bluetooth 'required protocols' were missing.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to pair a SixAxis for gaming on the sensation...
http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/about.html
Important - Due to the non-standard protocol that the controllers use to communicate with the host, this application requires root access. Additionally, it is incompatible with most HTC devices and some newer Samsung devices. This is due to the required bluetooth protocol not being implemented on these devices. We are actively looking into a work around, but currently the only solution is to install a custom firmware, such as Cyanogenmod, that supports the required protocols.

Thanks to all the dev's in advance.
Not to crush your hopes, but I believe this is the same issue with connecting WiiMote controllers to Android phones...
... HTC has messed with the Bluetooth stack so much that on Sense roms they never got it working, and as far as I know nobody ever fixed it (or tried to fix it).
I believe that the HTC Bluetooth stack just misses portions for this (like raw device access I believe) and it isn't just as simple as 'adding missing files'. You can replace the entire Bluetooth stack with the AOSP one (if you got the drivers and all) but apparently that breaks Sense since the Bluetooth stack libs or such as needed to run Sense.
So AOSP / CyanogenMod ROMs (which aren't up and running yet on the Sensation I believe) or hope that somebody has a brand new idea on how to tackle this.
i saw sense rom with modified bluetooth stack and gut such apps working back then for the HD2 ...
i think it is possible to change the stack on sense roms if we would find the right dev to do it for us !!!!!
would also love to see this. even with Sensation's huge screen, my fingers covers half the screen when playing games with onscreen controls. hope this request gets solved.
Hi, I have read if I get my phone (HTC Sensation 4G) "rooted" (not sure how to do this) and install CyanogenMod 7 (could not find it for Sensation) I could use the SixAxis PS3 controller app on my phone.
Does anyone know where I could find CM7 to install on my Sensation (they have it for the MyTouch 4G which seems to be a similar phone, could I install that version of CM7?)?
How can I "root" my device?
Perhaps is there a different method to "tweek" the bluetooth protocol for my phone to pair with the PS3 controller?
I have seen a few youtube videos with the sixaxis working on other phones (Samsung Galaxy S, x10 mini pro, HTC Desire, HTC HD2) and since the Sensation 4G is the newest and best T-Mobile device I assumed there would be some way to get this app to work.
Im desperately trying to use the Sixaxis app (want to do 4 player Mario Kart and 007 via HDMI on my tv with 4 PS3 controllers!!) on my HTC Sensation 4G and if anyone has a way to make this work (or an update) please let me know- thank you!
Well, 4 player Mario Kart via HDMI is going to have to wait a little longer. First, we need AOSP or CM ROM's written for the Sensation (which they aren't), then we can go about trying to get it working.

1: Not out for sensation yet, wait. and No you can't, it's a different device.
2: There's a sticky on the Development section
3: Rewrite the bluetooth drivers
4: Yes there is wait for CM7 or rewrite protocol
5: And again, wait.
I know in the desirehd thread, one of the developers by the name of xxxpachaxxx was able to get six axis to work on a modified kernal for sense roms. Works on his rooms but may try it on others. You should see if he made one for the sensation and is not pm him and hope he can. Just proof to show it is possible. I wonder if they fixed this in Sense 4.0.

did you found any solution about this ?
So, I have this cig lighter fm transmitter that takes both USB sticks, or 2.5mm input.
this question is for my GF, she enjoys listening to books on tape and I would like to set this thing up for her to use, problem, the infuse has a 3.5mm plug. If i use the phone as a mass storage, it would play songs via the Play buttons and what not, but these are 1.5 hour long tracks sometimes and it does not auto save where you last were. any ideas? The ideal situation would be to use the USB to charge the phone while using some kind of 3.5mm Male to 2.5mm male plug into the infuse phone and have her use her phone to pause, save and play the files. Any ideas?
This is a newer version of what I have, but alot of the same functionality, i can put a usb drive in and play skip and all that fun stuff.

maybe you want this? http://www.google.com/products/cata...1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=14042111030896786112# i dont think they make cables with 3.5 on one end, 2.5 on the other but just get the addapter for one end
edit: think i found what you want " Sennheiser 2.5mm Male to 3.5mm Male Audio Cable " (keep in mind all i did to find such a mythical product was a simple google search which i do believe can be done by anybody capable of posting on a fourm) link - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/665652-REG/Sennheiser_531406_2_5mm_Male_to_3_5mm.html
I have one of these nifty little adapters as I had an old phone with a 2.5 mm plugin. They work VERY well and are relatively short when attached to a longer cable. I'd recommend it if you decide it'll solve your issue.

Thank you very much for the input and usable links. Not to risk coming off as unappreciative, I should clarify, my question wasn't so much where can I get this equipment I knew the 3.5 - 2.5 existed. It was more along the lines of what is the setup you'd recommend. I suggested in my mind a good or decent setup but was hoping to get ideas if people know of a better way (i.e. some cool feature of the phone im not aware of that lets yo unplug the usb into your phone and then control the radio or transmitter via the phone display).
Are you SURE that thing has a 2.5mm input?
2.5mm stereo inputs are INCREDIBLY rare. As in this would be the first time I've ever seen such a thing.
2.5mm stereo outputs are a lot more common thanks to phones and the fact that it's the standard size for wired headsets.

all i know is that the Line out on the phone is 3.5 and I had a 3.5 to 3.5 Male - Male plug that was to large. I may be incorrect but im using process of elimination with a limited scope of knowledge, I dont know of any other plug besides the 2.5 and the 3.5 as far as the headphone style plugs go.

Bingo!! I use my Infuse through my Sony Xplod MTX-3000(?) and it ROCKS! handsfree kicks in when calls come in pausing music/audio of any kind...then resumes when call is disconnected. Another great App I bought for this is PowerAMP....it's got a setting to auto-resume playback when in range so when I start car (phone in pocket) the music starts playing where it left off the previous day (or whenever I was in the car last) I LOVE that feature...don't need to turn on the app or anything, it just "knows"
+1 to Bluetooth suggestion!
^^
your nick reminds me of Urban Dance Squad for some reason lol
Thanks for the responses, I think adding Bluetooth to the stereo or getting a whole new stereo might not be a suitable suggestion at this point (unless its not faux pas to get her an anniversary/birthday present at the same time when they are 2 months apart ).
New car also works.
For sure! A new car is the obvious choice.

So, an update!!
I am getting her a SD/USB/Aux Input (3.5mm) car stereo for our anniversary. I have been reading some forums that talk of plugging the phone into the stereo Via USB, then "Mounting the SD" and playing the files that way after doing some sort of debug mode.
Anyone ever tried this? apparently the stereo would read music off the SD loaded in the phone, or some said that you can control it Via the phone controls.

if you already have a 3.5 AUX why are you trying to mount the SD card. all you have to do is just play it through your music player.

Three little words: Steering Wheel Control. Can get that with a headunit that reads the SD directly.

Most steering wheel controls dont work with after-market headunits.
edit: however if they do still work, they wont with a 3.5mm aux input.

You need to get out more or get a new installer place. Most DO with a simple PAC controller (http://www.pac-audio.com/SWI/)
meh, i have a bluetooth... and it wont stream... but it does with my HD2... whatever.
id like to minimize the wires if possible.. just run the audio to the radio + get a charge from it. Plus I hear you tend to get better sound from USB rather than the 3.5.

Meh... I haven't messed with car audio in the last 2 years maybe stuff has changed, didn't check out the source but ill take your word for it (the buttons on my current cars wheels are only for cruise control so I have no current concern)

From Thinkgeek here. Says it fits the OG iPad and with our TP's being roughly the same size do you think this would work? The cutouts seem rather generic on the case so I don't see controls being an issue. Only problem I do see is that the camera would be blocked, but it wouldn't matter to myself.

Thank you for someone actually replying.
You actually sent me off on a search for a keyboard/case myself but I managed to convince myself I really don't need it.
My boss has this for his iPad 2, and it even has the notch for the iPad 2 front camera. This morning I slipped my HP TouchPad in it, and it fit like a glove. Every button on the TouchPad was accessible: Power, Volume, headphone, bottom speakers, front camera, home button, and the unused card slot. I like it alot, but be sure to get the one for the iPad 2 since it has a hole/notch for the front camera. I like this, but it's too expensive. I'm looking for something cheaper.
This case (or one very similar) is being sold by Maplins in the UK.
I bought one and it fits and BT keyboard working fine.

BTW The one I got has the cutout for the camera.
Just so guys know, this is on sale at thinkgeek.com for $29.99 for their Christmas special.
I just purchased this case and it will not pair with my Touchpad. It says "Unable to connect to keyboard (HID) profile" after entering the pairing code. I have tried resetting - the the keyboard connects to my iPhone without a problem. Any advice?

Make sure you have bluetooth keyboard from the market installed.
Well, I was trying to pair it in WebOS. Is this not possible?

Ah I see. Sorry for being assumptive. I haven't paired in webos, but I'll give it a go and report back.

Thanks! Interestingly enough - it lets me enter the code on the keyboard and also detects when I press enter (for the code). But then it errors out on the connection.
Figured it out.. thanks.
same problem

Do tell. I had it paired. Then I had it paired in android (xron's version of CM7) - and when I came back to WebOS, it pairs, but then gives the same error (unable to connect to keyboard (HID) profile).
I tried deleting the pairing and re-pairing from scratch - but it continues to give the same error.
What did you 'figure out'?!

Anyone? I'm still having issues as well
UPDATE: I finally got it working by having it start the pairing process, then holding the "Connect" button on the keyboard while it was trying to pair. After doing this a few times, it finally connected. However, it seems that it constantly disconnects. Pressing keys on the keyboard reconnects it, but there is a lag. This is very frustrating - any advice?
I just got this in the mail today but can't find the pairing code. Can anybody point me to what the code is or where it is hidden?

What you'll want to do is enter ANY code on the Touchpad. After you press the button to confirm the code, immediately type the same code on the bluetooth keyboard and press enter
I've pretty much given up on it - constantly disconnects. Big pain in the arse
That did it, thank you.
Oddly the device shows as disconnected in Android but Bluetooth Keyboard has it connected and working for the moment. I will play around with. It and see what happens.
Thanks again
