5.0.2 kernels? Stay or switch to 5.1.1 - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm still running 5.0.2 on 920t and noticed... There's only 2 kernels left I can download/try.
All the 5.0.2 kernel threads have been switched to 5.1.1 and dont include older download links (at least from what I can see).
I wanted to try Unikernel as I read that the battery was great but can't find a download.
Can anyone share some 5.0.2 kernels? I currently have vindicator r3 (but doesn't offer much tweaking ability or governors).
My next question, should I bother going to 5.1.1?

Best to go 5.1.1

[Q] Root: Updating to New Version

Say, if I am running 4.4.2, rooted and running a custom ROM, cataclysm and a kernel. Do I need to revert back to stock and update, or can I just flash a 4.4.3 ROM to get 4.4.3 (and the custom rom settings)?

I`am sure Cataclysm`s dev and the other rom devs will update their roms to 4.4.3 within a few days after the release. Or just flash the 4.4.3 rom from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=nl when its posted and reroot.
Just wait for cataclysm to update and dirty flash. Its not like 4.4.3 is going to show any of us any noticeable difference in performance except maybe the camera leak for some which I do not have.
Reading that 4.4.3 sticky makes my head hurt its like come on guys you've been at this for a while or should have read everything you need to know.

Got a XT1032 with KitKat, Update?

Hi there,
I got a 2-year-old german retail Moto G XT1032 with Stock 4.4.4 Kitkat as a daily driver. I've rooted it approx. a year a ago, installed the Xposed-Framework with xprivacy and Gravitybox. But the phone seems to get quite slow with standard applications like WhatsApp or the music player. So i deleted the app-caches of the Google Expericence Launcher and some other applications. Now it's not so laggy anymore, but i think with
a new version of Android it could be a bit faster.
I'd like to flash it with a new firmware. Now i dont't know, which one to choose. I've read that, when i want to upgrade to 5.1 or 6.0, i have to update the bootloader. And with this new bootloader i can't switch back
to KitKat, is that right? Now the question is, should i update to Lollipop or Marshmallow. When Lollipop came out, i've heard that it was quite a buggy mess. There were a couple of bugs, which made it unusable as a daily driver. Can you recommend Lollipop as a daily driver over KitKat? As I see, there are only beta (nightly) versions of Marshmallow out for the XT1032. Are they stable enough for using it as a daily driver?
Thanks
Patrick

1. yes, with a new bootloader you cannot go back to Kitkat. Also keep in mind that you need a recent recovery (TWRP 2.8.7)
2. i can only compare custom roms of KK or LP and i dont see a significant advantage of LP, also KK seemed to have the better memory management
3. another suggesting to your problem: if you dont care about having something "new" you might try a custom KK rom where my recommendation would be SlimKat (overall best and most stable rom i have ever used). That may solve your problems, but if you dont like it you can always go back to stock KK or upgrade
I never used my phone much on KitKat but things u will sacrifice on lp or marshmallow is multitasking (ram management) and battery timing but performance on newer os especially on marshmallow is too good I'm using cm13 nightly 03-01-2016 its so stable that know I don't even bother to upgrade to newer nightly its thousand times better than lp I suggest try KitKat ROM still unsatisfied then u only have choice to watch a video of phone running mm then deciding upgrade BTW just use greenify this phone often gets drunk without it

[Q] Downgrade from 5.1.1 to 5.0.1 on T-Mobile (SM-N915T) possible? Maybe even 4.4.4

Has anyone else downgraded from 5.1.1 to 5.0.1 or 4.4.4 on the T-Mobile variant? I have done some searching and I have seen that some people feel it may brick the phone. I have seen some go from 5.0.1 to 4.4.4, but not from 5.1.1. When I received my Edge it was already on 5.1.1 but the battery life is pretty awful and I am hoping for better results on 5.0.1.
I have already tripped KNOX and am running RiverRom if it matters.
Somebody posted an 'unlocked' 4.4.4 bootloader here recently and with that you should be able to downgrade to kitkat as poster claims. Take it from there.
Respect!

Sorry to ask a question instead of answering yours but I thought custom 5.1.1 ROMs were supposed to be better for battery life? I assume Riverrom is a custom 5.1.1 ROM. Aren't those supposed to be better?
Hyperdrive is now out based on COK2. I don't think it's possible to downgrade, but if you figure it out, let me know.
Downgrade will also help to use the Gear2
With the lolipop 5.1.1, second version, I can not use the Gearmanager to manange apps

I'm so confused, which ROM?

Man I get more confused the more I read. I'm on stock sprint Note 5 5.1.1. I want to root. I need a ROM that has tethering and is light or debloated. Any suggestions?
Dr. Ketan?
Should I use SpaceX 0.1 Kernel?
I know how to use Odin and install TWRP.
I keep finding Roms but don't explicitly support the "p".
Thanks
Max

Go to page 1 of thread. Read. Odin mm factory firmware. Enjoy moar. Can even upgrade to nougat and still use moar. There is also an older version of moar that should be 5.1.1. You need to restrict your reading the the sprint note 5 android development forum.

I'm still on the "stock" one but I'm modding it bit by bit. All I want are edge features and some other mods. Hotspot doesn't work for me, not even on ROMS that have it enabled. Try this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...om-galaxy-note-5-qc5-nougat-deodexed-t3585845
I like it, but has too many mods for my taste.

Help unrooting and flashing a new rom

Hello, it's been some time since I've last rooted and flashed kernels on my devices. My device is having problems with certain apps and I feel it's time to update my root or change my rom or flash a stock rom etc. Here is what I am using now:
Build: MOAR v6.1 OA6
Software: G900PVPU1BOA6
Hardware: G900P.04
Android: 5.0
Kernel: 3.4.0-3859396
Would you recommend I unroot then flash a stock kernel? What is a new root I can use with this phone? Thanks
I would recommend Odin a fresh stock MM rom. Then boot to the desktop, by pass set up. Go to dialer ##72786# it will do a reactivate and update prl and profile.. Then Odin TWRP, and flash a new rom or your choice.. If you like MOAR then Odin a LP stock rom, and do as mentioned and flash MOAR 7.0 it works best. Right now, I'm running crdroid 3.8.5 baset off of Nouget with 7.1 gapps and it works very well You need the latest MM firmware to run it, and at least TWRP 3.2.1-0-ktle.img If you do flash crdroid download ktledv

First off, thanks for the reply. I really appreciate the help. What's the battery life like on MM compared to Lollipop?
I would prefer to use something like a stock rom but just extremely debloated. I also want to be able to play pokemom go without problems and super su keeps giving me problems when trying to play. Do you know of any setups that would allow for pokemon go and are fast, battery effecient, and debloated?

How's the mm baseband? I know the obvious response is updated is better but I experienced better LTE on the firmware I currently have, no idea honestly other than it's lolipop, maybe ok4? I want to upgrade phones but having trouble finding one with sprint newer that can be customized how I like so I'm also looking at playing with this one prior to and after getting maybe a pixel unlocked

I would stick with Lollipop OK4 and flash MOAR 7.0. I to find better LTE and all around connectivity on Lollipop than MM.. I once again, went back to MOAR 7.0 from crdroid.. Crdroid is a great rom, but battery life, sucks, as well as connectivity on calls and data. When in aroma and you get to the point about the kernel, choose don't touch kernel, and finish from there. I never like MM and those are the reasons why.. Crdroid I flashed was 7.0 but naturally on the MM base band, but it was still the same.
Thanks sir nobody could really answer that for me. I found the ok4 of all lollipop got the best LTE where I live, plus I'm on sprint so I'm a bit restricted on ROMs, unified dev leave some bugs with sprints network but not too badly!!

You probably already know, but I will ask anyways. Are you using the KLTEDV version of the unified ROM? KLTE roms does not work very well with sprint.

Thanks! I'll make sure to read which I should use. My daily is still on MM while my old one that's kinda beat up is now on N as it us now the practice phone. Playing with it before Oreo, may stay for a while. And I installed kltespr on both devices as there were still options available for specifically this device with the spr tag. My CM 13 network is fine, no worse than just regular sprint...
Haven't tried the move to either N or O on my daily, worried about the signal discussion. I'll use an old kltespr to test before the newer maintained kltedv if its there probably to see how it goes.

Unfortunately my sprint s5 is one of the phone with that signal issue. I was in the process of changing carrier so to try and fix that issue wasn't worth it for me. My new S5 did not have that issue, when i went to verizon, its a really weird bug.

I think it took a bit to stat with the sprint APN, changed some settings, messed with some stuff, and it seems fine now, I'll have to remember to check back at that before upgrading. I'm on the ok4 baseband
